As use of the visual display terminal(VDT) is becoming more generalized as a result of office automation, the so-called 'VDT syndrome' which is often observed with the workers using VDT has emerged as a serious occupational health problem. However, few comparative study with control group using not only subjective symptom but also physical examination has been conducted. We have conducted a study comparing prevalence rated of musculoskeletal disorder between 113 VDT operators of a telecommunication company and the control groups of housewives and office ladies through a review of subjective symptoms as well as physical examination by physiatrist to understand the magnitude of problem and relative risk of VDT worker. The symptom rates of upper extremity disability in VDT operators were higher than those of controls especially in neck and shoulder area. Fifty-four(47.8%) of 113 VDT operators met our case definition of upper extremity disorder by subjective symptom and physical examination. Myofascial pain syndrome of neck and shoulder muscles were the most common(46.9%). The odd ratio of using VDT operation for developing myofascial pain syndrome in the neck or shoulder area were 2.52(compared to controls of office ladies) and 2.64(compared to controls of housewives). Other anatomical lesion such as elbow, hand and wrist shows slight higher prevalence rates of musculoskeletal disorder than control groups but not statistically significant.

The College of Engineering was specialized to have a sole function for supplying technical high school teachers in 1977 and referred to as the College of Industrial Education according to the Government's policy. The economic impact mainly due to the oil-crises caused a severe problem to this college, namely discrepancy of supply to demand scale. Accordingly the number of student enrollment was to be fluctuated from 479 in 1979 through 800 in 1979 and 900 in 1980 to 430 in 1981. And the engineering departments have been attached to this Engineering Education College since 1981. These circumstanses met singnificant inefficiency in facility operation. This program aims at providing an overall relocation of the college facilities and preparing the practical system to make the joint-operation possible taking into account circulation, academic stream, budget, maintenance, etc. However this study could not get optimal spacing but some trade-off, considering the current situation.

<P>Recognition of diverse hormones in the human body is a highly significant challenge because numerous diseases can be affected by hormonal imbalances. However, the methodologies reported to date for detecting hormones have exhibited limited performance. Therefore, development of innovative methods is still a major concern in hormone-sensing applications. In this study, we report an immobilization-based approach to facilitate formation of close-packed arrays of carboxylated polypyrrole nanoparticles (CPPyNPs) and their integration with human parathyroid hormone receptor (hPTHR), which is a B-class family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Our devices enabled use of an electrically controllable liquid-ion-gated field-effect transistor by using the surrounding phosphate-buffered saline solution (pH 7.4) as electrolyte solution. Field-induced signals from the peptide hormone sensors were observed and provided highly sensitive and selective recognition of target molecules at unprecedentedly low concentrations (<I>ca.</I> 48 fM). This hormone sensor also showed long-term stability and excellent selectivity in fetal bovine serum. Importantly, the hormone receptor attached on the surface of CPPyNPs enabled GPCR functional studies; synergistic effects corresponding to increased hPTH peptide length were monitored. 다양한 추출방법으로 조제된 스테비아 잎 추출물의 항산화 활성

본 연구는 추출처리 방법별 스테비아 추출물의 항산화능을 비교하기 위하여 수행되었다. 스테비아 추출물은 열수 (HWE), 발효(FHWE) 및 감압(VE)추출의 처리과정을 통하여 추출되었다. DPPH 라디칼 소거능과 환원력(FRAP) 및 지방산화 억제능을 통하여 알아본 항산화능의 평가는 감압 처리되어 추출된 스테비아 추출물(VE)의 경우 그 활성이 가장 높게 관찰되었으며, 3가지 추출물 모두, 동일 농도에서 stevia의 주요한 활성성분인 stevioside와 rebaudioside보다 항산화활성이 월등히 높게 관찰되었다. 이러한 항산화능의 증가에 관한 이유를 알아보기 위하여 총 phenolic compounds의 함량을 측정한 결과 감압(VE) 추출물에서 유의적으로 높게 관찰되었다. 따라서 감압(VE) 처리 방법은 항산화 활성이 증진된 스테비아 추출물을 얻기 위한 효과적인 처리공정이라 사료된다. This study was carried out to evaluate the antioxidant activity of stevia extracts from Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni leaves. Stevia extracts were prepared by three different methods including hot water extraction (HWE) at 120℃ for 4 hr, vacuum extraction (VE) at 65℃ for 4 hr under 0.08 ㎫, and fermentation of hot water extract (FHWE) using Lactobacillus buchneri. The antioxidant activities measured by radical scavenging activity, ferric-reducing antioxidant potential ability, and thiobarbituric acid reactive substance showed the highest values in vacuum extract. Also, the antioxidant activities of all extracts were higher than those of stevioside and rebaudioside at the same concentrations, known as the major active components in stevia. To define the antioxidative compound in stevia extracts, the total phenol content was measured, and it was shown that the highest contents of total phenolic compounds were in vacuum extract. These results suggest that the antioxidant activity of stevia extract was due to the phenolic compound components. In addition, vacuum extraction was the proper method to prepare stevia extract with higher antioxidant activity.
