A Study on the Functionality of Halophytes from Coast area of Jeollanam-do

This study was undertaken to improve the perceived value of halophytes and contribute to the activity of the local economy by analyzing the antioxidant activity and mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina that grow wild on the mud flats and coastal areas. The total phenolic compound content found in each order is as follows: Suaeda japonica (3.674∼5.989 mg TAE/g dry wt.), Tetragonia tetragonoides (2.515∼4.471 mg TAE/g dry wt.), and Spergularia marina (2.450∼4.067 mg TAE/g dry wt.); DPPH radical scavenging and ABTS cation radical scavenging activities were also recorded in the same order. In the case of minerals, Iron(Fe) was relatively high in Suaeda japonica (960.1∼1,346.7 mg/kg), Manganese(Mn) in Tetragonia tetragonoides (197.1∼574.8 mg/kg), and Zinc(Zn) was relatively high in Spergularia marina (63.19∼216.56 mg/kg). It was confirmed that the mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina was significantly higher than that of Chinese cabbage, lettuce, leek, and spinach.
고착협 내탈립 기계수확 적응 장류⋅두부용 콩 품종 ‘새금’

The soybean cultivar, ‘Saegeum’, has been developed for preparing soy-paste and tofu. The soybean cultivars ‘Daepung’ and ‘SS98207-3SSD-168’ were crossed in 2003 to obtain ‘Saegeum’. Single seed descent method was used to advance the generation from F3 to F5, and the plant lines with promising traits were selected from F6 to F7 by pedigree method. The preliminary yield (PYT) and advanced yield trials (AYT) were conducted from 2009 to 2010, and the regional yield trial (RYT) was conducted in 12 regions between 2011 and 2013. The morphological characteristics of ‘Saegeum’ were as follows: determinate plant type, white flower, tawny pubescence color, and brown pod color. Flowering and maturity dates were August 2, XXXX and October 17, XXXX, respectively. Plant height, first pod height, number of nodes, number of branches, and number of pods were 79 cm, 18 cm, 16, 2.3, and 44, respectively. The seed characteristics of ‘Saegeum’ were as follows: yellow spherical shape, yellow hilum, and the 100-seed weight was 25.4 g. ‘Saegeum’ was resistant to bacterial pustule and SMV in the field test, and its lodging resistance was mildly strong, whereas its shattering resistance was excellent. The ability of this cultivar to be processed into tofu, soybean malt, and other fermented products was comparable with that of ‘Daewonkong’. The yield of ‘Saegeum’ in the adaptable regions was 3.02 ton ha-1. Thus, ‘Saegeum’ is adaptable to mechanized harvesting because of its high first pod height, as well as lodging and shattering resistance. (Registration number: 5929)

Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a very rare and highly malignant disease in urologic field, has three categories-pleomorphic, alveolar, embryonal, and may arise from any part of the body that contains embryonal mesenchyme, whether striated muscle tissue is present or not. The common site in the genitourinary tract are prostate, bladder, and vagina. Herein we experienced a rhabdomyosarcoma of the pelvic cavity and reviewed literature briefly.
石灰 및 苦土가 土壤內 有效成分變化와 水稻生育에 미치는 影響

pH 5.5의 耕作土壤에 石灰를 1-6me/100gr까지 增加시켜 土壤內 成分과 水稻生育에 對하여 몇 가지 結果를 얻었으며, 역시 同一土壤에 Mg를 1-4me/100gr 施用하여 몇 가지 結果를 얻었다. (1) Ca當量別 增加에 따라 exch-Ca와 pH의 變化는 比例的으로 增加되어 高度의 相關이 있다. (2) 有效燐酸, 可溶性SiO2, 有機物, 活性鐵, 置換性 苦土等의 含量變化는 認定되지 않았다. (3) 燐酸의 吸收係數는 Ca施用에 따라 正 相關이 認定된다. (4) Ca施用에 따라 生育面에 莖數, 穗數는 減少되어 負相關이 認定된다. (5) 草長, 稈長, 稔實率, 穗當着粒數에는 變化가 認定되지 않는다. (6) Mg를 1-4me/100gr 增加施用에 따라 土壤內 exch-Mg와 有效燐酸은 增加되었다. (7) pH 및 基他成分은 變化가 나타나지 않았다. (8) Mg施用에 따라 生育은 草長, 莖數는 增加가 없었고 穗數와 稈長이 增加된 傾向이고 基他는 變化가 없다. Some results of rice growth and available element in soil were obtained by application 1-6me/100gr of calcium and 1-4me/100gr of magnessium in a soil which was pH 5.5. The results of the study showed the followings. 1. Increasing the application of calcium, exch-Ca, pH and absorption coefficient of phosphorus were increased proportionally, but available ??, soluble SiO₂, O.M., active Fe and exch-Mg were not changed. 2. Number of Penicles and tillers were decreased proportionally but plant height, the length of culm, rate of grain formation and number of grain per penicle were not changed. 3. Increasing the application of magnessium, exch-Mg and available ?? were increased but the others were not changed. 4. Plant height and number of penicles were not increased but the number of tillers and the length of culm had tendency to increase.

<P>Improved approaches for promoting umbilical cord blood (CB) hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) homing are clinically important to enhance engraftment of CB-HSCs. Clinical transplantation of CB-HSCs is used to treat a wide range of disorders. However, an improved understanding of HSC chemotaxis is needed for facilitation of the engraftment process. We found that ectopic overexpression of miR-9 and antisense-miR-9 respectively down- and up-regulated C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4) expression in CB-CD34<SUP>+</SUP> cells as well as in 293T and TF-1 cell lines. Since CXCR4 is a specific receptor for the stromal cell derived factor-1 (SDF-1) chemotactic factor, we investigated whether sense miR-9 and antisense miR-9 influenced CXCR4-mediated chemotactic mobility of primary CB CD34<SUP>+</SUP> cells and TF-1 cells. Ectopic overexpression of sense miR-9 and antisense miR-9 respectively down- and up-regulated SDF-1-mediated chemotactic cell mobility. To our knowledge, this study is the first to report that miR-9 may play a role in regulating CXCR4 expression and SDF-1-mediated chemotactic activity of CB CD34<SUP>+</SUP> cells.</P>

The Tribe Prosternini of the subfamily Dendrometrinae comprises approximately 530 species in 39 genera through the world. Especially about 250 species in 20 genera with 13 subgenera has been known in the Palaearctic region. In process of the taxonomic study on the members belonging to this tribe in Korea, the authors recognized a new genus including to three new species. This new genus has close affinities with species of the genera Acteniceromorphus Kishii 1955, Liotricus Kiesenwetter 1858, and Actenicerus Kiesenwetter 1858. The novel genus differs from mostly allied to the genus Acteniceromorphus in its specialized paramere shape in the male genitalia, lacking unicarina on the pronotal hind angles, and the character state of the prosternal process. This presentation is given that above four genera including the new genus from Korea are compared to discuss their place in classification by basis of morphological information.
밀폐공간 및 강제환기공간에의 천연가스 고압분출 시 농도 확산분포 거동해석 (I)

밀폐 공간 내의 천연가스 공급 시스템에서 가스 누설에 따른 재난을 방지하고 보다 안전한 설계를 하기 위해서는 누출된 천연가스의 확산거동을 이해하고 예측할 수 있는 기술이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 CFD를 사용한 해석법을 제시하고, 기 수행된 British Gas Technology Co.의 실험결과와 비교하여 타당성을 제시하였다. 노즐에서의 분출유량 2D 해석 결과는 실험결과와 2.6% 이내로 잘 일치함을 보였다. 또한, 다양한 강제 환기 조건에 따른 가스확산 특성을 비정상상태 3차원 CFD 해석을 수행한 결과 실험결과와 정성적인 경향이 잘 일치됨을 보였다. The basic understanding of gas diffusion and technology to predict the diffusion phenomena are needed to prepare against a disaster of leakage of natural gas and to design better consistent and reliable gas supply system in enclosure. The experimental results of British Gas Technology Co. are used in present study as a reference of theoretical study using CFD. The present results of 2D CFD analysis for mass flow rate of nozzle release show good agreement with experimental results within 2.6 % error. 3D CFD analysis for the characteristics of natural gas diffusion in enclosure with various ventilation patterns also gives reasonable agreement with experimental results.
