Clozapine Induces Apoptosis in HIT-T15 Pancreatic β-Cell Lines

목적 : Clozapine의 드문 부작용으로 췌장염이나 고혈당증 등이 보고되고 있지만 아직까지 정확한 기전은 밝혀지지 않고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 부작용과 관련하여 clozapine이 췌장 조직에 직접적인 세포 독성을 일으킬 것이라는 가설 하에, clozapine이 HIT-T15 췌장 β-세포주에서 세포 사멸 과정인 apoptosis를 유도하는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 : 먼저 MTT assay로 HIT-T15 췌장 β-세포주에서 clozapine의 세포 독성을 알아보고 형태학적 변화를 관찰하였으며 이러한 세포 독성의 형태로 apoptosis가 일어나는지를 DAPI staining TUNEL assay, caspase-3 assay 등의 방법을 사용하여 알아 보았다. 결과 : Clozapine이 HIT-T15 췌장 β-세포주에서 농도와 시간 의존 양상으로 세포 독성을 일으키고, 형태학적 관찰, DAPI staining, TUNEL assay 결과에서 apoptosis의 특징적인 소견을 나타내었다. 그리고 clozapine 처치 시 caspase-3의 활성이 유의하게 증가되어, caspase-3에 의해 매개되어 apoptosis가 유도된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 결론 : 본 연구결과로 볼 때, HIT-T15 췌장 β-세포주에서 clozapine에 의해 유도되는 apoptosis가 clozapine 에 의해 발생되는 췌장염이나 고혈당증 같은 부작용의 병태생리학적 기전에 관여할 가능성이 있을 것으로 생각한다.

The effects of six sugar resources (fructose, glucose, sucrose, trehalose, raffinose and honey) on the longevity, oviposition performance and nutrition levels of Meteorus pulchricornis, a thelytokous larval endoparasitoid of the common cutworm Spodoptera litura were examined under laboratory conditions. Female adults of M. pulchricornis fed 1 M fructose, glucose, trehalose or sucrose solutions survived longer than those fed on other sugar solutions or water. When provided with honey or sucrose solutions, the female parasitoids laid more offspring than those fed other sugar diets or the control. The body size of offspring driven from honey-, fructose-, sucrose-, and glucose-fed females, along with water-fed group, were larger than the trehalose- and raffinose-fed females. However, the emergence rates of all offspring generated from different sugars- and water-fed females were similar. When separately given honey, sucrose or fructose, M. pulchricornis females accumulated fructose at a higher level than the other groups. Parasitoid wasps fed trehalose solution accumulated the highest level of total sugar. Glycogen levels and lipid content were highest at emergence and then decreased across all diets. In addition, females fed on trehalose had the highest level of glycogen compared to other sugar diets and water control regardless of emergency level. Females fed trehalsoe, fructose, and glucose solutions had a higher level of lipid than those fed other sugar solutions and water at life end. The outcome of this study can benefit both laboratory rearing and management interventions that improve sugar sources for the parasitoid in the field.

민주주의의 교육적 기능은 건강한 민주주의를 재생산한다는 점에서 중요하다. 하지만, 우리는 이러한 배양을 당연하게 여겨서는 안 된다. 민주주의를 사고하는 측면에서 다른 요소들이 존재하기 때문인데, 그 의미는 사람들이 또 다른 민주적 교훈들을 배울 수 있다는 점이다. 이 에세이에서, 나는 민주주의 교육의 장이 직면하는 위험을 설명하기 위해 대만의 홍수 피해 지역의 사례를 사용한다. 나는 또한 홍수 피해 지역의 주민참여예산제도(PB)들이 교육 기능을 상실하는 이유를 요약한다. 진료소에서 홍수로 인한 지역 사건까지, 나는 이상적인 민주주의 교육의 장을 건설하고 민주주의 교육이 긍정적으로 순환되도록 되돌리기 위해서는 문화적 해결책이 가장 중요하다고 주장한다. The educational function of democracy is important for reproducing a healthy democracy. However, we should not take this reproduction for granted. Since there are different kinds of democratic imaginations, it means people may learn different democratic lessons. In this essay, I use the case of the Flooding district in Taiwan to illustrate the risk a democratic school faces. I also summarize the reasons why PB in the Flooding district loses its educational function. From the clinic to the case of the Flooding district, I argue that the cultural solution is most important for building an ideal democratic school and bringing democratic education back to a positive loop.

In this study, a generic intelligent wireless sensing platform with the IoT and wireless transmission technology is established for greenhouse monitoring, which is capable of greenhouse data collection and analysis. The data analyzed by a cloud server would provide important information regarding the efficiency of greenhouse management and cultivation methods. To monitor greenhouse related parameters, an embedded board is placed in a greenhouse as the gateway. Monitoring data and images collected by sensors deployed in the greenhouse are transmitted to the embedded board via an Ethernet or wireless transmission module. The data are eventually sent to a database by wireless AP. The AP connects to the internet by using a 4G USB dongle, which can provide sufficient data transmission speed for real-time data transmission. In wireless hotspots and areas with Wi-Fi, not only can images be transmitted to the cloud, but also can the mobile APP be used to perform remote monitoring, so experimental observations are no longer affected by geographical impacts. Moreover, to ensure the preservation of images and numeric data, the gateway carries a high durability secure digital (SD) memory card to store images and data; if the network encounters some problems, such as unable to connect and a lack of network traffic, the data can be stored in the SD card. Thus, the proposed platform is able to perform heavy information transmission duties and support performing all wireless monitoring tasks. In addition, the analyzed data can be used by agricultural personnel to provide critical cultivation suggestions.
Seismic Performance of Kiewitt-Sunflower Single Layer Spherical Reticulated Shells

In this paper, seismic behavior of Kiewitt-Sunflower single layer spherical reticulated shells is examined within the time history method, based on our proposed damage constitutive model for thin-walled circular steel tubes. According to a large number of numerical examples, the failure mode of this kind of single layer spherical reticulated shell in the case of earthquake is figured out. In addition, the effect of the damage accumulation, rise-span ratio, initial geometric imperfection, types of seismic wave and amplitude modulation ratio on the dynamic response of the shell structure is explored. Finally, a structural damage factor is proposed and it has a good match with the numerical results, which is productive to assess the damage and failure behavior of such structures suffering the earthquake and post-earthquake.
