Angioedema with eosinophilia (AE) is a very rare allergy disease, case reports of which have been published sporadically since 1984. Here, we retrospectively analyzed the clinical features of 10 AE patients in Korea. Nine of the 10 subjects were young females, ranging from 23 to 38 years old. Twenty percent of the subjects had episodic-type AE with high serum IgM and eosinophil counts, while 80% were non-episodic type with normal serum IgM levels but high eosinophil counts. All patients had used systemic corticosteroids to control AE. One patient with refractory EAE was treated with anti-IgE antibody. This is the first study to evaluate the clinical characteristics of AE in a Korean population.

케일 쥬스에 의한 AFLATOXIN B_1의 유전독성 억제 효과

The inhibitory effect of the fresh juice of kale on the genotoxicity induced by aflatoxin B_1 (AFB_1) in Salmonella and Drosophila was investigated. The kale juice had strong inhibitory activity for His^- to His^+ reverse-mutations induced by AFB_1 acting on S. typhimurium TA100. A similar inhibitory effect was detected in somatic cell mutation assaying system of D. melanogaster. Using the wing hairs spot test, we found that the formation of mutant hairs in adult flies as a result of feeding with AFB_1 in their larval stages was efficiently inhibited by coadministration of the fresh juice of kale, which revealed that it can inhibit gene mutation, deletion and mitotic chromosomal recombination. These results seem to suggest that kale juice may exert its inhibitory effect to mutagenic and/or carcinogenic properties of DNA damaging agents.

Rat의 DNA Polymerase β cDNA가 도입된 Transgenic Drosophila의 체세포 돌연변이 유발에 관한 연구

The effects of DNA polymerase β on the somatic chromosome mutations and mitotic recombinations were investigated using the transgenic Drosophila bearing chimeric gene consisting of a promoter region of Drosophila actin 5C gene and rat DNA polymerase β. For detecting the somatic chromosome mutations and mitotic recombinations, the heterozygous (mwh/+) strains possessing or lacking transgene pel β were used. The spontaneous frequency of small mwh spots, due deletion or nondisjunction etc, in the non-transgenic w strain and the transgenic p[pol β]-130 strain was 0.351 and 0.606, respectively. The spontaneous frequency (0.063) of large mwh spots, arises mostly from somatic recombination between the centromere and the locus mwh, in the transgenic p[pol β]-130 strain was about three times higher than that (0.021) of the non-transgenic w strain. The mutant clone frequencies of small and large mwh spots induced by N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine and ethyl methanesulfonate in the transformant p[pol β]-130 were higher than those in the host strain w. The present results suggest that rat DNA polymerase β participate at least in the somatic chromosome mutations and mitotic recombination processes.

지역학으로서의 독일학 육성을 위한 정보자료의 디지털화와 활용방안에 관한 연구

In dieser Arbeit wurde vor allem versucht, den Blick auf zwei Punkte zu richten: Erstens sollte das Forschungsvorhaben, das im Rahmen eines zweija¨hrigen Projekts unter finanzieller Unterstu¨tzung des Koreanischen Research Foundation (KRF) durchgefu¨hrt wurde, in grobem Abriss vorgestellt werden. Zweitens werden die Probleme skizziert, die wa¨hrend der Durchfu¨hrung des Projekts auftauchten, und aus denen sich schließlich unmittelbar einige Verbesserungs- vorschla¨ge ergeben. Das Projekt hatte die Aufgabe, ein auf digitalisierten Daten basierendes Informationssystem u¨ber Deutschland zu erstellen. Das System der Wissenschaftsinformationen, das in der vorliegenden Arbeit vorgestellt wurde, wird beispielsweise aufgrund seiner umfangreichen Informationsdaten dem Fach Germanistik zur weiteren und vertiefenden deutschlandeskundlichen Forschung von großem Nutzen sein. Daru¨ber hinaus aber kommt es auch den Lehrenden zugute, da ihnen dann ein vielseitiges und reichhaltiges Lehrveranstaltungsmaterial als Veranstaltungsthemen zur Verfu¨gung steht. Um ein solches Wissenschaftssystem der Deutschlandforschung zu erstellen und weiter zu entwickeln, wird jedoch nicht nur vie1 Zeit, sondern eine sta¨ndige Aktualisierung der Datenbank no¨tig werden. Um diese Aufgaben zu bewa¨ltigen, sollten mo¨glichst viele Germanisten fu¨r das Projekt zur Verfu¨gung stehen. Zurzeit findet das Internet im privaten und o¨ffentlichen Bereich breite Anwendung wie noch nie zu vor, und diese Tendenz wird sich noch versta¨rken. Forscher suchen und sammeln Informationen anhand des Internets. So nimmt es im Forschungsleben als Forschungswerkzeug einen wichtigen Platz ein. In Zukunft wird sich der Service im Bereich des Netzwerks weiter entwickeln/verbessern. Dies bedeutet fu¨r die Forscher eine Chance im Hinblick auf die Zukunft der Forschung, wenn sie gemeinsam ein wissenschaftliches Kooperationssystem entwickeln, um Wissen unter einander auszutauschen.

유전치부의 심미수복을 위한 Silicoated Resin-bonded stainless steel crown의 제작 및 치험례

For the purpose of establishing the method of esthetic full coverage restoration with superior esthetics and strength for primary anterior teeth, a trial was made with silicoated resin-bonded stainless steel crown with enhanced bond strength between stainless steel and composite resin. The results were as follows: 1. The result was revealed superior in the aspects of esthetics, strength, color stability, labial thickness and chairtime which is very significant especially for un-cooperative children. 2. On the contrary, the necessity of more than 2 appointments and the aspect of economy due to the lack of common-use were remained to be solved from now on.

과민성 장 증후군의 증상 경감을 위한 비약물적 접근 고찰

There have been many trials of clinical efficacy of multicomponent and single component treatments for irritable bowel syndrome(IBS). We reviewed effects of non phamacological treatments in the IBS. Though the efficacy of multi-component approaches was unclear, several results suggest that cognitive behavioral therapy was effective in improving gastrointestinal symptoms of IBS. As a single component, cognitive therapy and relaxation with or without biofeedback could improve the symptoms and psychological health of IBS patients. Yoga, meditation, self-help information and hypnotherapy could be applicable to IBS.

The author treated a case of mandibular left condylar fracture in children with conservative measures utilizing elastic rubbers, and obtained the following results. 1. It will be better to adapt non-surgical conservative method based upon functional orthopedic approaches in condylar fractures of growing children, with the exception in the cases with bilateral fracture concomittent with displacement. 2. The treatment should be initiated soon after infliction of trauma and take more than 6 months of treatment-period. 3. In order to prevent the articular ankylosis, it would be better to minimize the period of intermaxillary fixation and allow the functional mandibular movement as soon as possible. In this case, a little more treatment for orthodontics and follow-up observation would be required.

Purpose: The Purpose of this study was to explain the effects of aromatherapy massage on the preoperative anxiety of hemorrhoidectomy patients, and to provide the effective and holistic nursing care to them. Method: The research design was a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design. The data were collected during the period from November 1 to November 30, 2003 at K-Hospital in Seoul. The subjects were fifty patients who were to have a hemorrhoidectomy under general anesthesia. They were assigned to two groups, 25 subjects to the experimental group and 25 subjects to the control group. The State Anxiety Inventory tool was used to measure state-anxiety on all patients the day before surgery. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and pulse rate were measured on the day before surgery and the preoperative period. The experimental group received aromatherapy massage on the hand with lavender oil. Data were analyzed by x^(2) test, independent t-test, paired t-test. Result: 1. Hypothesis 1, that the level of preoperative state-anxiety of the experimental group who received aromatherapy massage would be lower than that of the control group who did not received aromatherapy was supported(p=.047). 2. Hypothesis 2was that the Physiological index of the preoperative anxiety of the experimental group who received aromatherapy would be lower than that of the control group who did not received aromatherapy. The 1st subhypothesis that "the level of the preoperative systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the experimental group would be less than that of the control group" was not supported. Conclusion: Aromatherapy massage can be regarded as a partially effective nursing intervention that relives the preoperative anxiety of surgical patients and stabilizes vital signs.

「부인필지」에 수록된 어ㆍ육류 조리법에 관한 문헌적 고찰

「Puinpilji」 is an old cooking book written in 1915. Although 「Puinpilji」 documents a variety of recipes, in this study primarily intends to examine recipes employing fish and meat; these dishes are often presented as always food. This study will try to lucidly categorize the kinds of fish and meat introduced in the first volume of 「Puinpilji」 according to their recipes in order to analyze them by comparison to the recipes of fish and meat documented in 「Eumsikdimibang」 and 「Siuijeonseo」 ; 「Emsikdimibang」 is the oldest cook book written in Hangul and 「Siuijeonseo」 is a great resource of traditional cookery at the end of Chosun dynasty. We classified the recipes into five categories: soup, stew, salted fish, sauce, and other cooking method. In general, the recipes introduced in 「Puinpilji」 were similar to those in 「Siuijeonseo」 since the two books were written without much disparity in timeline.
