      • Genetic Screening for Mutations in the Chip Gene in Intracranial Aneurysm Patients of Chinese Han Nationality

        We performed a case-control study to investigate whether SNPs of CHIP might affect the development of IA in Chinese Han nationality. We believe we are the first to have screened IA patients for mutations in the CHIP gene to determine the association with these variants. The study group comprised 224 Chinese Han nationality patients with at least one intracranial aneurysm and 238 unrelated healthy Han nationality controls. Genomic DNA was isolated from blood leukocytes. The entire coding regions of CHIP were genotyped by PCR amplification and DNA sequencing. Differences in genotype and allele frequencies between patients and controls were tested by the chi-square method. Genotype and allele frequencies of the SNP rs116166850 was demonstrated to be in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. No significant difference in genotype or allele frequencies between case and control groups was detected at the SNP. Our data do not support the hypothesis of a major role for the CHIP gene in IA development in the Chinese Han population.

        Increased Levels of C1q in the Prefrontal Cortex of Adult Offspring after Maternal Immune Activation: Prevention by 7,8-Dihydroxyflavone

        Objective: Prenatal infection is implicated in the etiology of schizophrenia. The objective of this paper is to study the role of complement protein C1q in the psychosis of adult offspring after maternal immune activation (MIA). In addition, effect of 7,8-dihydroxyflavone (7,8-DHF: a tropomyosin receptor kinase B [TrkB] agonist) was also examined. Methods: Western blot analysis of C1q in the brain regions from adult offspring after prenatal poly(I:C) (5.0 mg/kg/day from E12 to E17) exposure was performed. 7,8-DHF or vehicle was given from 4 to 8-weeks old. Results: Expression of C1q in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of adult offspring from poly(I:C)-treated pregnant mice was significantly higher than that of control group. Early treatment with 7,8-DHF during juvenile and adolescent stages could prevent an increase of C1q in the PFC of adult offspring after MIA. Conclusion: Therefore, it is likely that increased C1q expression in the frontal cortex may play a role in the behavioral abnormalities of adult offspring after MIA. Furthermore, supplementation with a TrkB agonist such as 7,8-DHF during the prodromal stage may have prophylactic effects on the behavioral abnormalities after MIA.

        Effects of Selenium, Copper and Magnesium on Antioxidant Enzymes and Lipid Peroxidation in Bovine Fluorosis

        The antioxidant enzymes, lipid peroxidation and free radicals assessment were made of the effects of selenium, copper and magnesium on bovine endemic fluorosis under high fluoride, low selenium and low copper productive conditions. Thirty-two beef cattle were selected from high fluoride area, and randomly divided into four groups with eight cattle each as follows: (1) high fluoride control group (HFC); (2) supplemented group with 0.25 mg/kg selenium (HFSe); (3) supplemented group with 15 mg/kg copper (HFCu) and (4) supplemented group with 0.25 mg/kg selenium+15 mg/kg copper+1 mg/kg magnesium (HFSeCuMg) per day for 83 days. Moreover, eight beef cattle were selected from non-high fluoride area as normal control group. Blood samples were collected from cattle on 0 d, 30 d and 83 d respectively, to analyze the enzyme activities and concentration of GSH-px, CAT, SOD, MDA and free radicals. The results showed that the contents of free radicals and MDA in HFC group were significantly higher, and the whole blood GSH-px, CAT, erythrocyte SOD activities were lower than the normal control group. Free radicals, metabolic imbalance and antioxidant disorder therefore, play an important role in fluorosis. However, GSH-px, CAT and SOD activities in HFSe group and HFSeCuMg group at 30 d and 83 d were markedly higher than the same groups at the 0 d and the HFC group at the same time. Likewise, there was a corresponding reduction in the contents of free radicals and MDA. These findings indicated that supplementation with selenium, copper and magnesium elevated high fluoride bovine antioxidant enzymes, and decreased MDA and free radicals contents. But, the activities of supplementation selenium group did not increase until day 83. These results demonstrated that fluorosis was associated with lower serum Se and Cu levels than in the control, and it was therefore concluded that fluorosis is associated with decreased serum levels of these minerals. Long-term high fluoride intake under productive condition enhances oxidative stress in the blood, thereby disturbing the antioxidant defense of cattle. Increased oxidative stress could be one of the mediating factors in the pathogenesis of toxic manifestations of fluoride. It is benefical for high fluoride cattle supplemented with proper selenium, copper and magnesium to increase fluoride excretion and obtain the protective impact of the activity of oxidative enzymes, and to decrease lipid peroxidation and free radicals contents.

        Treatment of Oily Wastewater with WPO and CWO

        Petroleum refining unavoidably generates large volumes of oily wastewater. The environmentally acceptable disposal of oily wastewater is a current challenge to the petroleum industry. Nowadays, more attentions have been focused on the treatment techniques of oily wastewater. Oily wastewater contained highly concentrated and toxic organic compounds. Wet peroxide oxidation (WPO) and catalytic wet oxidation (CWO) were applied to eliminate pollutants to examine the feasibility of the WPO/CWO of oily wastewater. The results indicated that more than 80% chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal from oily wastewater was achieved with CWO. Homogenous catalyst, $NaHCO_3$ and $Na_2CO_3$ and NaOH showed effective removal for pollutants in oily wastewater. Greater than 90% COD removal was achieved with WPO. It was concluded that WPO was a far more effective process for oily wastewater.

        한국어 발화 말 담화표지 연구 - 감탄사 유래 담화표지를 중심으로 -

        담화표지는 담화에서 다양한 화용적 기능을 수행한다. 모든 언어에 존재하는 초분절음인 억양도 담화에서 여러 가지 기능을 한다. 이 글에서는 발화 말 위치에서 주로 실현되는 감탄사 유래 담화표지를 연구 대상으로 그에 얹힌 운율 양상을 살펴보고 담화의 상황과 결부하여 실제 발화에서 어떤 담화 기능을 수행하는지 알아본다. 이를 통해 운율 특성과 담화 기능의 관련성도 살펴본다. 그리고 유형론적인 측면에서 다른 언어들과 비교 분석을 진행하여 한국어 발화 말 담화표지의 보편성과 특수성에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 운율 특성과 담화 기능의 관련성 고찰은 담화표지의 전반적 측면의 연구에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 유형론의 이론에 기초한 연구는 또 한국어 발화 말 담화표지 내지는 한국어의 본질적인 특성을 알아내는데 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 생각한다. Discourse markers play a variety of pragmatic functions in discourse. Supersonic intonation in all languages also has many functions in conversation. In this paper, we focus on discourse markers originating from interjections, which occur at the end of sentences, and look at the prosody patterns on it, find out what discourse functions are performed in real speech in conjunction with the situation of discourse. Through this, we should also discuss the correlation between prosodic features and discourse function. In addition, from the perspective of typology, we make a comparative analysis with other languages to explore the universality and particularity of Korean discourse markers. The consideration of the relevance of prosody characteristics and discourse functions can assist in the study of the overall aspects of discourse markers. The research based on typology theory is also helpful to discover the characteristics of discourse markers and even the essential characteristics of Korean.

        18세기 말 19세기 상반기 한국이나 중국은 봉건사회가 근대사회로 이행되는 혼란스러운 시기에 있었다. 내부에서는 근대적인 요소가 나타나는 한편 봉건적 병 폐가 누적되어 있었다. 이러한 상황에서 양심적인 지식인들은 나라와 민족이 처한 위기를 타개하는 방법을 모색하였다. 한국에서 실학사상의 집대성자이자 우수한 시인인 다산 정약용과 중국에서 명말청초의 실학사상을 부활시킨 일군의 문인 겸 시인 가운데서 정암 공자진이 대표적이다. 그들은 시대적 위기를 남들보다 먼저 감지하고 경세치용의 학문으로 세상을 구제하려고 하였다. 문학에 대하여는 다산은 ``문이재도``, ``美刺勸懲``, ``諫``을 주장하 고 정암은 ``有用``, ``慷慨``를 내세웠다. 본질적으로 두 사람은 모두 현실참여의 문학을 주장하였다. 이러한 문학관은 그들의 사회시 창작에 선명하게 드러난다. 다산 이나 정암은 당시 사회의 주요 문제인 민생의 질곡, 관리의 부정부패, 인재의 부 진 등 폐단을 시가 작품에서 반영하고 그것에 대한 자기의 감정이나 견해를 피력 하였다. 구체적인 표현 양상에 있어서 다산과 정암의 작품에 차이가 난다. 다산은 사 회 현실을 진실하게 보여주는 사실적인 작품을 많이 창작하고, 정암은 당시의 정 치, 행정을 평가하는 의논 위주의 작품을 주로 창작하였다. 다시 말해서 다산은 현실을 정확하게 반영함으로써 문학의 유용함을 실현하려고 했지만 정암은 당대의 정치, 사회를 정확하게 인식하고 평가함으로써 문학의 유용함을 구현하고자 하였 다. 같은 실학정신에서 출발한 두 사람은 현실 위기의 극복이라는 하나의 목표를 향해 서로 다른 길에서 열심히 뛴 셈이다. 다른 길을 선택한 것은 두 사람의 문학 관의 차이와 타고난 기질과 생활하는 사회 문화 배경, 학맥 등과 관련이 있었을 것이다. 다산의 사회시에서 나타나는 사실적인 시정신 자체가 근대성을 내포하고 있으므로 문학사적 의미가 크고 정암의 사회시는 사상의 속박에서 벗어나 정치, 사회를 강개하게 의논하는 새로운 문학정신 즉 개성 해방을 주장하는 근대의식과 맥이 닿아 있다. 이러한 의미에서 두 사람은 모두 근대문학의 선구자로 평가될 만하다. From the end of the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century, both China and Korea came to the end of feudal society and suffered acute social contradictions. Intellectuals started to search the way of rescuing the country and the people, among whom Gong Zizhen and Jeong Yak-Yong were typical representatives who created lots of excellent poems themed on the real society. They both stressed the social functions of literature. Jeong emphasized that poems should carry "people`s criticism of the rulers" and have the function of tactical expostulation and allegory, and Gong believed that literature should "comment on politics". Yet they followed different paths in poem creation. Jeong exposed social problems by objective description of the reality, while Gong frankly expressed emotional thoughts on political affairs. Such difference should be remarkably attributed to their different literary thoughts and personal temperaments as well as literary traditions and social environments of the two countries.

        메조포러스실리카를 이용한 메조포러스 전이금속체 합성

        본 연구는 SBA-15, MCM-41, MCM-48, KIT-6와 같은 메조포러스실리카를 다양한 조건에서 합성하고 이를 이용하여CMK(Carbon Mesoporous Korea)를 합성한다. 합성된 CMK를 이용하여 메조포러스 구조의 전이금속체를 제 조하였다. 각각의 메조포러스실리카에 따라 합성된 CMK의 특성을 분석하고 이를 이용하여 합성된 메조포러스 전이 금속체의 특성을 질소흡탈착 등온선, SEM, 저각 X-선 회절분석으로 분석하므로써 최적의 메조포러스 전이금속체의 합성조건을 도출하였다, 실험 결과 가장 우수한 특성을 나타내는 메조실리카는 SBA-15이며, BET 분석으로 SBA-15로 부터 합성된 메조포러스 구리 분자체의 비표면적은 225m2/g, 기공크기는 2.91nm로 나타났다. In this study, syntheisis of mesoporous silica such as, SBA-15, MCM-41, MCM-48, KIT-6 according to various experimental conditions. The CMK(Carbon Mesoporous Korea) was synthsized by various mesoporous silica. Finally, the mesoporous transition metal structure synthesized using CMK structure. Nitrogen adsorption/ desorption, SEM, low angle X-ray diffraction were carried for analysis of each sample. The optimum synthesis condition of mesoporous transition metal structure derived from characteristic analysis. The SBA-15 is best precursor for synthesis of mesoporous transition metal structure. The surface area of copper mesorporous structrue from CMK(SBA-15) is 225m2/g, pore diameter is 2.91nm by BET analysis.
