Measurements of charge exchange neutral particles in Heliotron J
masashi Kaneko,F. Sano,H. Okada,K. Hanatani,K. Nagasaki,K. Kondo,S. Kobayashi,S. Murakami,T. Mizuuchi,Y. Suzuki,Y. Nakamura 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.49 No.III
The ion behavior in Heliotron J plasmas is investigated through measurements of the ion energy distribution function, which is measured with a charge-exchange neutral particle analyzer system. The bulk ion temperature is estimated from the measured energy spectrum. In NBI heated plasma, the pitch angle distribution of energy spectra is measured. Dependence of the high energy tail and bulk ion temperature of injection power is investigated in an ion-cyclotron range of frequency heating experiment.)

Background Pedicled flaps are useful for reconstructive surgery. Previously, we often used vascularized supraclavicular flaps, especially for head and neck reconstruction, but then shifted to using thoracic branch of the supraclavicular artery (TBSA) flaps. However, limited research exists on the anatomy of TBSA flaps and on the use of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence videoangiography for supraclavicular artery flaps. We utilized ICG fluorescence videoangiography to harvest reliable flaps in reconstructive operations, and describe the results herein. Methods Data were retrospectively reviewed from six patients (five men and one woman: average age, 54 years; range, 48-60 years) for whom ICG videoangiography was performed to observe the skin perfusion of a supraclavicular flap after it was raised. Areas where the flap showed good enhancement were considered to be favorable for flap survival. The observation of ICG dye indicated good skin perfusion, which is predictive of flap survival; therefore, we trimmed any areas without dye filling and used the remaining viable part of the flap. Results The flaps ranged in size from $13{\times}5.5cm$ to $17{\times}6.5cm$. One patient received a conventional supraclavicular flap, four patients received a TBSA flap, and one patient received a flap that was considered to be intermediate between a supraclavicular flap and a TBSA flap. The flaps completely survived in all cases, and no flap necrosis was observed. Conclusions The TBSA flap is very useful in reconstructive surgery, and reliable flaps could be obtained by using ICG fluorescence videoangiography intraoperatively.

<P>Interferon-tau (IFNT), a type I interferon (IFN), is known as pregnancy recognition signaling molecule secreted from the ruminant conceptus during the preimplantation period. Type I IFNs, such as IFN-alpha and IFN-beta, are known to activate cell-death pathways as well as induce apoptosis. In cows, induction of apoptosis with DNA fragmentation is induced by IFNT in cultured bovine endometrial epithelial cells. However, the status of cell-death pathways in the bovine endometrium during the preimplantation period still remains unclear. In the present study, we investigated the different cell-death pathways, including apoptosis, pyroptosis, and autophagy, in uterine tissue obtained from pregnant cows and <I>in vitro</I> cultured endometrial epithelial cells with IFNT stimulation. The expression of <I>CASP7</I>, <I>8,</I> and <I>FADD</I> (apoptosis-related genes) was significantly higher in pregnant day 18 uterine tissue in comparison to non-pregnant day 18 tissue. The expression of <I>CASP4</I>, <I>11,</I> and <I>NLRP3</I> (pyroptosis-related genes) was significantly higher in the pregnant uterus in comparison to non-pregnant uterus. In contrast, autophagy-related genes were not affected by pregnancy. We also investigated the effect of IFNT on the expression of cell-death pathway-related genes, as well as DNA fragmentation in cultured endometrial epithelial cells. Similar to its effects in pregnant uterine tissue, IFNT affected the increase of apoptosis-related (<I>CASP8</I>) and pyroptosis-related genes (<I>CASP11</I>), but did not affect autophagy-related gene expression. IFNT also increased γH2AX-positive cells, which is a marker of DNA fragmentation. These results suggest that apoptosis- and pyroptosis-related genes are induced by IFNT in the pregnant bovine endometrial epithelial cells.</P>

Approximating a divergence between two probability distributions from their samples is a fundamental challenge in statistics, information theory, and machine learning. A divergence approximator can be used for various purposes, such as two-sample homogeneity testing, change-point detection, and class-balance estimation. Furthermore, an approximator of a divergence between the joint distribution and the product of marginals can be used for independence testing, which has a wide range of applications, including feature selection and extraction, clustering, object matching, independent component analysis, and causal direction estimation. In this paper, we review recent advances in divergence approximation. Our emphasis is that directly approximating the divergence without estimating probability distributions is more sensible than a naive twostep approach of first estimating probability distributions and then approximating the divergence. Furthermore, despite the overwhelming popularity of the Kullback-Leibler divergence as a divergence measure, we argue that alternatives such as the Pearson divergence, the relative Pearson divergence, and the L2-distance are more useful in practice because of their computationally efficient approximability, high numerical stability, and superior robustness against outliers.

The factors of dimensional change of Fe-Cu-C sintered objects
Fujinaga, Masashi,Suzuki, Yoshitomo The Korean Powder Metallurgy Institute 1998 한국분말재료학회지 (KPMI) Vol.5 No.4
Dimensional accuracy is one of the most important issues in the production of sintered parts. The iron-copper-carbon system is commonly used alloys in sintered structural parts production. The dimensional control of these alloys, however, is not easy because of their complex sintering behavior. This study is an effort to clarify the influence of common factors on dimensional change of Fe-Cu-C sintered structural parts. We determined the effect of such various parameters as chemical composition, particle diameter, compact density, sintering temperature and sintering time on dimensional changes. Consequently, we obtained a useful formula to predict the final dimension in function of these parameters. The effect of typical impurities in copper powder on the dimensional change of sintered parts has also been described.
