        Seismic design of reinforced concrete structures if based on the ductility approach that study to improve of strength and ductility in concrete members to require. This paper is, therefore, to study on the strength and the ductility of reinforced concrete columns subjected to high axial compression loads(0.35fc' .Ag). The test results from 1/3 scale models using high-strength reinforced concrete (fc'=560/㎠) is presented. For the research the experimental variables used the shape of shear reinforcing bar, the space of shear reinforced bar and axial force ratio. As a result, deformation capacity of reinforced concrete columns subjected to high axial compression loads affected in the influences of axial force ratio and the space of shear reinforced bar, the shape of shear reinforcing bar.

      • 담즙정체성 간염의 임상적 양상

        Background: Cholestatic hepatitis is failure of bile to reach the duodenum with hepatocellular damage and no demonstrable obstruction of the major bile ducts. The prognosis is usually good with recovery in less than 4 weeks after withdrawal of the offending drug. However, a prolonged course lasting over 3 months is possible and, in rare cases, progression to ductopenia with development of a vanishing bile duct syndrome occurs. A differential diagnosis with other causes of Chronic liver disease is needed. Materials and Methods: From January 1991 through Jaunary 2000, 14 patients diagnosed as cholestatic hepatitis by liver biopsy were inclouded. The possible causative drug, clinical features, laboatory findings, and progression of cholestatic hepatitis were evaluated. The semiquantitative study of liver lesions was performed by two independent observers. Results: Causes of cholestatic hepatitis are 5 cases of oriental medicine, 3 cases of anti-tuberculosis medication, 1 case of ticlopidine and antibiotics and 4 cases of unknown causes. The clinical features of cholestatic hepatitis were jaundice, itching, urine color change, and general weakness. During 6 to 30 months, LFT of 5 patients showed prolonged elevation. Elevated total cholesterol ≥250 mg/dL in 6 patients, pheripheral blood eosinophilia in 5 patients, auto-antibody positive in 6 patients were observed respectively. The biopsies showed intralobular bilirubinostasis with a mixed portal inflammatory infiltration. Conclusion: In cholestatic hepatitis. durations of abnormal LFT are variable regardless of causative drugs. If cholestatic hepatitis progresses toward chronic course, viral hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, and autoimmune hepatitis should be differentially diagnosed and sequential liver biopsies are needed.

        Starter 및 멸치액젓 첨가가 김치양념 및 겉절이 김치의 품질에 미치는 영향

        양념에 Leu. mesenteroides, Lac plantarum의 젖산균과 멸치액젓 첨가가 김치 양념의 대장균군 제어, 속성촉진여부 및 관능적 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. Leu. mesenteroides과 젓갈을 첨가한 경우 초기 숙성이 촉진되나 후기 산패는 완만하였으며 Lac. plantarum의 첨가시에는 초기 숙성에는 큰 차이가 없고 후기 산패가 현저하게 진행되었다. 대장균군은 산도 0.80% 이상에서 사멸되었는데 leu. mesenteroides의 경우가 숙성이 촉진되어 보다 신속히 사멸시켰다. 총균수와 젖산균수는 초기에 starter 첨가구는 10^6CFU/mL 정도인데 반해서 starter를 첨가하지 않은 않은 처리구에서 총균수는 10^6CFU/mL , 젖산균수가 10^4CFU/mL 이었고 숙성 후에는 첨가균이 높은 수준을 유지하였다. 하지만 대체적으로 스타터의 첨가가 숙성 및 대장균에 크게 영향을 주지 못하는 경향으로 동일하게 나왔다. 관능적 특성에서는 Leu. mesenteroides 첨가구가 Lac. plantarum의 경우보다 우수하였다. 한편, 시판 겉절이 김치는 산도가 0.09~0.18%, ph 5.46~5.89, 총균수 2.2×10^6~3.1×10^7CFU/mL, 젖산균수는 2.1×10^4~6.6×10^5CFU/mL, 대장균수는 1.8×10^4~7.1×10^5CFU/mL, 염분 1.89%~2.51%으로 스타터 첨가 겉절이에 비해 ph와 염도를 제외한 품질 특성에서 전반적으로 낮은 값을 나타냈다. This study was performed in order to investigate the effect of Leuconostoc mesenteroides, Lactobacillus plantarum and salt fermented anchovy extracts on Kimchi sauce. The sauce was fermented more rapidly by addition of Leu. mesenteroids or salt fermented anchovy extracts on the early fermentation stage than the control, but it was fermented slowly on the late fermentation stage. When L. plantarum was added to the Kimchi on the early fermentation stage, the acidity of Kimchi didn't show a significant difference from the control, but acidity was remarkably increased on the late stage. Coliform group was disappeared when acidity of sauce was higher than 0.8% during fermentation. It was controlled by Leu. mesenteroides but not by L. plantarum. Total count and lactic acid bacterial count of the sauces with starter were 6.30×10^6~1.0×10^7 CFU/mL and 1.04~2.04×10^6 CFU/mL, respectively, but those of the control sauce were 10^6 CFU/mL and 10^4 CFU/mL, respectively. Those count of the sauce with starter were higher than those of the control sauce on the later stage of fermentation. Organoleptic quality of the sauce with Leu. mesenteroides was superior to that with L. plantarum.

        급속응고된 N-type Bi₂Te_(2.75)Se_(0.15) 열전재료의 미세조직과 열전특성에 미치는 압출비의 영향

        The n-Type thermoelectric compounds of Bi₂Te_(2.75)Se_(0.15) doped with 0.1 wt% SbI₃ were fabricated by gas atomization process and extruded under ratio of 16:1 and 28:1 at 450℃. The effect of extrusion ratio on the microstructures and thermoelectric properties were investigated by a combination of microscopy, XRD and thermoelectric properties. Grains of extruded bars are smaller than those of heated powder at extrusion temperature (450℃) due to the dynamic recrystallization but with increasing the amount of plastic deformation, grains of specimen extruded with 28:1 were slightly coarse. The compressive strength of hot extruded bar under 28:1 is 160 MPa and with decreasing the extrusion ratio to 16:1, the value is 250 MPa. The Seebeck coefficient a and electrical resistivity p were decreased with increasing ratio, while thermal conductivity x was increased. this results from decrease of carrier scattering and increase of carrier mobility. Extruded bar under ratio of 16:1 shows the higher value of figure of merit (Z=2.50x10^(-3)/K) than that of 28:1 (Z=2.07x10^(-3)/K). (Received June 24, 2004)

      • Clinical characteristics of post-operative N2 nodal upstaging in Non-small cell lung cancer

        Background: Endobronchial ultrasound-transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is currently performed first for the mediastinal nodal staging of non-small lung cancer (NSCLC). However, unsuspected lymph node metastases leading to upstaging are found during the final histopathologic evaluation of surgical specimens. Purpose of our study was to evaluate the characteristics of upstaged lymph nodes and the its effects on survival in patients with NSCLC. Methods: We performed a retrospective review from 2009 to 2019 at tertiary-care academic hospital. Patients who diagnosed NSCLC with post-operative pathologic N2 positive lymph node were included. Nodal upstaging was defined as the unexpected pathological finding of metastasis in N2 nodes in patients who were presumed to have clinical N0 or N1 with preoperative staging. Results: Of 177 patients with positive N2 node postoperatively, overall rate of nodal upstaging was 53.1% (94 patients). The baseline characteristics did not differ significantly between upstaged and unchanged patients. Upstaged patients were more likely to receive adjuvant chemotherapy compared to unchanged patients. Culprit nodes leading to upstaging were subcarinal (38.3%), paratracheal (36.2%), and aortic nodes (21.3%). The size of upstaged node was less than 5mm in EBUS. Threeyear mortality was not different between two groups, but lower rate of mortality was observed after excluding inaccessible lymph node. Progression-free survival was significantly higher in the upstaged patients. Conclusion: Nodal upstaging was mainly attributed to the small mediastinal nodes or aortic nodes that are not accessible by EBUS-TBNA and did not influence three-year mortality. After excluding inaccessible lymph node, even higher survival was found in the upstaged patients than the unchanged patients with the same stage.

        Investigation of SOL plasma interaction with graphite PFC

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Morphological changes of graphite plasma facing component (PFC) were investigated with various ion irradiation conditions which may change the sputtering yield and the scrape-off layer (SOL) plasma property. The experiments were carried out by using electron cyclotron resonance deuterium plasma with the conditions of electron density range of 2.5–3.5×10<SUP>11</SUP> cm<SUP>−3</SUP>, electron temperature range of 3.3–4.1eV, and ion energy range of 17–100eV. The graphite morphology was changed from plane to conical tip with increasing ion energy and dose. In addition, morphological changes increase the sputtering yield due to the increase of local angle of ion incidence. The inflow of hydrocarbon causes the increase of electron density and the decrease of electron temperature due to its higher dissociation and ionization rates than those of deuterium. This result suggests that the morphological changes of graphite should be considered in the SOL plasma interaction with graphite PFC.</P>

        Miniaturized Q‐band ×8 frequency multiplier with optimized efficiency in 65‐nm CMOS technology

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>In this work, a miniaturized Q‐band ×8 frequency multiplier with a structure designed for optimized efficiency is demonstrated. The circuit is fabricated using 65‐nm CMOS technology and designed to operate from 46.4 to 50.4 GHz. The ×8 frequency multiplier consists of three doublers and three amplifiers for the optimization of efficiency and low‐input power. Three doublers are designed using balanced topology for high harmonic suppression. The transformer balun is conjoined as an input balun in the frequency doubler and load inductor in amplifier. The transformer balun used between the first amplifier and first doubler, and between the second amplifier and third doubler to achieve compact size. This ×8 frequency multiplier achieves a maximum output power of −1.9 dBm with an input power of −24 dBm, and harmonic suppressions are over 32.5 dBc between 46.4 and 50 GHz. The ×8 frequency multiplier consumes a maximum power of 50 mW and occupies area of 0.92 mm<SUP>2</SUP>.</P>
