        사업장(事業場) 근로자(勤勞者)의 사상체질(四象體質)에 따른 생활습관(生活習慣), 자각증상(自覺症狀), 건강인식(健康認識)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)

        The study was conducted to evaluate the difference of life style, subjective symptoms and health cognition depending on the Sasang Constitution in the industrial workers. The results were as follows ; Constitutional distribution among exposed group were Tae-eum In(38.4%), So-eum In(35.2%), and So-yang In(26.4%) and it was turned out that Tae-eum In took a higher portion of Sasang constitution than other constitutions in technician workers. 'Exercise' and 'Obesity' were found most in Tae-eum In, In So-eum In there were many 'Normal' weight and 'Having digestive disorders' were found most in So-eum In. There were no significant difference in the health cognition among the constitutions. The closer to 'normal' weight, the higher prevalence in 'having' concern about health condition and the more 'normal' condition in sleeping, the higher prevalence of 'having' self-confident in present health.

        사무직 근로자들의 직무 스트레스와 피로

        목적: 이 연구는 전국 규모의 조사 연구에서 수집된 자료 중 사무직 근로자들을 대상으로,사회인구학적 특성,직업 특성,건강행태,직무 스트레스와 피로수준 간의 관련성을 분석하는 데 있다. 방법:‘한국인 직무스트레스 측정도구의 표준화 전국 조사연구National Study for Development and Standardization of Occupational Stress (NSDSOS Project: 2002∼2004)’를 위해 2002년 5월 1일부터 2003년 5윌 30일 까지 수행되었으며,전국의 사업장에 근무하는 근로자 30,146명(남자: 84%,여자: 16%) 중 사무직 근로자 4,457명(남자: 68.9%,여자 31.1%)을 연구 대상으로 하였다. 자료수집방법은 사업장을 방문하여 보건 및 안전관리자 등에게 연구의 취지를 알린 후 설문조사에 대한 협조를 구하고 응답자 직접 기입법을 이용 하였으며,사회인구학적 특성,직업적 특성,건강관련 요인,KOSS-SF를 이용한 7개의 직무 스트레스 요인,그리고 MFS를 이용하여 피로 수준에 영향을 주는 요인에 대해 분석하였다. 결과: 일반적 특성,작업관련 특성,건강행태관련 특성 및 직무 스트레스 요인이 근로자들의 피로와 강한 관련성이 있음이 입증되었으며,특히 직무 스트레스의 하부 요인 중에서도 피로와 관련성을 보이는 요인이 남녀별로 다소 상이 하게 관련된다는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 남자의 경우는 직무 스트레스의 하부 영역 중 직무 요구도,직무 불안정성,보상부적절 등이 영향력이 높은 주요 직무 스트레스 요인이었던 반면,여자는 직무 요구도,보상부적절,직장문화가 주요한 직무 스트레스 요인이었다. 결론: 직장인 피로가 갖는 보건학적 의학적 경제학적 중요성을 감안할 때,조직의 생산성 향상과 근로자 개개인의 삶의 질 향상 및 건강증진을 위해선 직무 스트레스 관리 프로그램이 절실히 요청된다고 볼 수 있다. Background & Objectives: A growing body of research has documented that occupational stress is closely associated with increased risk of fatigue. This study was conducted in an effort to assess the relationship of occupational stress to self-perceived fatigue among Korean white collar employees. Methods: Data were obtained from the National Study for Development and Standardization of Occupational Stress (NSDSOS Project, 2002-2004). Among them, a total of 4,502 white collar employees were recruited. A structured questionnaire was employed to evaluate the participants' sociodemographics, job-related factors, health-related behaviors, occupational stress, and self-perceived fatigue. Occupational stress and self-perceived fatigue were assessed using the Korean Occupational Stress ScaleShort form (KOSS-SF) and the Multidimensional Fatigue Scale (MFS), respectively. Results: In logistic regression analyses, occupational stress was associated with an increased risk of fatigue, and some domains of occupational stress had different effects on fatigue by gender (job demand, job insecurity, and lack of reward for men, job demand, lack of reward, and discomfort in occupational climate for women), which indicates that occupational stress may perform a slightly different role in increasing the risk of fatigue by gender. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that occupational stress is a determinant predictor of self-perceived fatigue. Thus, a stress management program for the reduction of occupational stress, and the promotion of white collar worker's health and quality of life is strongly recommended. Some limitations of this study and considerations for future studies were also discussed.

        Background : The cun measurement System, an essential and convenient method in locating acupoints, has been widely used in the practice of acupuncture. However, traditional cun measurement has been criticized for its lack of reliability. Objectives : The purposes of this study are to determine if one cun measured by the directional methods have a consistency with that of proportional methods and to investigate which factors are related with these differences, especially in forearm. Methods : The distance between the elbow crease and the wrist crease of forearm was compared to a reference value of one cun obtained by the directional method. In this method, one cun is one third of the distance between index finger and Small finger of a subject, measured at proximal interphalangeal joint. In addition, to investigate the factors influencing the differences between these two methods, we measured the height and body weight and calculated body mass index (BMI). Finally we analyzed the factors correlated with these lengths by linear regression test. Results : The results showed that one cun obtained by the directional methods were significantly different from one cun by the proportional methods in forearm. It was demonstrated that the length acquired with the directional method was more correlated with body weight and body mass index, while the length obtained by the proportional method was more correlated with the height.

        Case We report the first case of coronary artery spasm with iatrogenic hyperthyroidism in Korea. Hyperthyroidism is a rare cause of coronary artery spasm and most of them is associated grave`s disease. Coronary artery spasm with iatrogenic hyperthyroidism is very rare. A 73-year-old woman was admitted to our cardiology department with resting chest pain. She was treated with L-thyroxin (dose 0.15 mg/day) for hypothyroidism because she underwent total thyroidectomy due to thyroid papillary cancer 10 months ago. She had been never smoke and alcohol. Her ECG was no significant change comparing with the ECG 10 months ago. Coronary angiography showed diffuse spasm in the right artery after intravenous ergonovine injection,which resolved with intracoronary nitrate application. Laboratory data showed the following: thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) was undetectable < 0.004 μIU/mL (normal range: 0.35-5.5 μIU/mL), Free T4 was 2.28 ng/dL (normal range: 0.78-1.54 ng/dL), T3 was 148.21 ng/dL (65-150 ng/dL). She was subsequently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism secondary to L-thyroxine which is thought to be the cause of the coronary spasm. Symptoms resolved upon treatment with diltiazem and isosorbide mononitrate. She was stable at the 2-year follow-up.

        A study on improving reactivity of Cu-ferrite/ZrO<sub>2</sub> medium for syngas and hydrogen production from two-step thermochemical methane reforming

        <P>Thermochemical two-step methane reforming, involving the reduction of metal oxide with methane to produce syngas and the oxidation of the reduced metal oxide with water vapor to produce pure hydrogen, was investigated over a Cu-ferrite/ZrO<SUB>2</SUB> (CFZ) medium, as a reactant for the redox reaction. To improve the reactivity of the CFZ medium, we considered the addition of Ni or Ce additive to the medium. The reduction behavior of the media in the syngas production step was examined by temperature-programmed reduction method. The reaction characteristics of the media by varying Ni or Ce additive content was evaluated in fixed bed reaction system with infrared heating under the temperature range of 700∼900°C.         Fungal Laccase-Catalyzed Oxidation of Naturally Occurring Phenols for Enhanced Germination and Salt Tolerance of <i>Arabidopsis thaliana</i>: A Green Route for Synthesizing Humic-like Fertilizers

        <P>Fungal laccases have been highlighted as a catalytic tool for transforming phenols. Here we demonstrate that fungal laccase-catalyzed oxidations can transform naturally occurring phenols into plant fertilizers with properties very similar to those of commercial humic acids. Treatments of Arabidopsis thaliana with highly cross-linked polyphenolic products obtained from a mixture of catechol and vanillic acid were able to enhance the germination and salt tolerance of this plant. These results revealed that humic-like organic fertilizers can be produced via in vitro enzymatic oxidation reactions. In particular, the root elongation pattern resulting from the laccase products was comparable to that resulting from an auxin-like compound. A detailed structural comparison of the phenol variants and commercial humic acids revealed their similarities and differences. Analyses based on SEM, EFM, ERP, and zeta-potential measurement showed that they both formed globular granules bearing various hydrophilic/polar groups in aqueous and solid conditions. Solid-phase C-13 NMR, FT-IR-ATR, and elemental analyses showed that more nitrogen-based functional and aliphatic groups were present in the commercial humic acids. Significant differences were also identifiable with respect to particle size and specific surface area. High-resolution (15 T) FT-ICR mass spectrometry based van Krevelen diagrams showed the compositional features of the variants to be a subset of those of the humic acids. Overall, our study unraveled essential structural features of polyaromatics that affect the growth of plants, and also provided novel bottom-up ecofriendly and finely tunable pathways for synthesizing humic-like fertilizers.</P>

        Influence of Thermal Treatment of a Calcium Cobalt Oxide Thin Film by Rapid Thermal Annealing

        <P>Ca3Co4O9 thin films were deposited by using a sol-gel method. The films were treated by rapid thermal annealing, which is a fast and simple process. We measured and analyzed the electrical, structural, and optical properties. The Ca3Co4O9 structure changed at temperature above 750 A degrees C, which changed the electrical and the thermal properties. In addition, the thin films similar electrical and structural results when treated in a furnace at 850 A degrees C, which results were confirmed by Xray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and a Hall measurement system. Therefore, rapid thermal annealing can produce Ca3Co4O9 thin films for thermoelectric materials.</P>

      • Immunotoxicity of ethyl carbamate in female BALB/c mice : role of esterase and cytochrome P450 esterase와 cytochrome P450의 역할

        Ethyl carbamate, a potent carcinogen, has been characterized to be metabolized by cytochrome P450(P450) and esterase. It has recently been demonstrated that P450 may activate ethyl carbamate to immunotoxic metabolites. To investigate the role of esterase in ethyl carbamate-induced immunosuppression, mice were pretreated intraperitoneally with an esterase inhibitor, diazinon, at 20 ㎎/㎏ 30min prior to the administration of ethyl carbamate intraperi-toneally at 100 and 400㎎/㎏ for 7 consecutive days. Pretreatment with diazinon completely blocked the serum esterase activity. Histopathologically splenic and thymic atrophy was observed when mice were treated with ethyl carbamate, which was potentiated by he pretreatment with diazinon. In spleen, lymphocytes in the periarteriolar lymphoid sheath and the marginal zone appeared to be depleted in the white pulps. In thymus, ethyl carbamate caused a marked depletion of cells in cortex. The antibody response to sheep red blood cells(SRBCs) was more suppressed by ethyl carbamate in diazinon-pretreated groups. These results suggest that the metabolism of ethyl carbamate by esterase may be an inactivation pathway in ethyl carbamate-induced immunosuppression. In addition, ethyl N-hydroxycarbamate, a P450 metabolite, suppressed the lymphoproliferative response induced by lipopolysaccharide and concanavalin A in splenocyte cultures. These results indicate that the metabolism of ethyl carbamate by P450 may be an activation pathway in immunosuppression by ethyl carbamate. ⓒ 2000 Published by Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd.       • <i>Marinoscillum</i> <i>luteum</i> sp. nov., isolated from marine sediment

        <P>A novel strain, designated SJP7<SUP>T</SUP>, was isolated from sediment of the Tofua Arc of the Tonga Trench. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of the isolate showed the highest similarity to that of <I>Marinoscillum pacificum</I> KCCM 42325<SUP>T</SUP> (95.9 %). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the isolate formed a distinct phyletic line with <I>Marinoscillum pacificum</I> KCCM 42325<SUP>T</SUP> and <I>Marinoscillum furvescens</I> LMG 13023<SUP>T</SUP> within the family <I>Cytophagaceae</I>. Cells of strain SJP7<SUP>T</SUP> were Gram-stain-negative and appeared as long rods that were motile by gliding. Growth was observed at 15–40 °C (optimum, 30 °C), at pH 5.5–9.0 (optimum, pH 7.5–8.0) and in the presence of 0.5–7.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2.5–3 %). The major respiratory quinone was MK-7. The dominant fatty acids were summed feature 3 (comprising C<SUB>16 : 1</SUB>ω7<I>c</I> and/or C<SUB>16 : 1</SUB>ω6<I>c</I>), iso-C<SUB>15 : 0</SUB> and C<SUB>16 : 1</SUB>ω5<I>c</I>. The DNA G<I>+</I>C content was 43.5 mol%. These properties support the affiliation of strain SJP7<SUP>T</SUP> with the genus <I>Marinoscillum</I>. Further phenotypic differentiation of strain SJP7<SUP>T</SUP> from other species of the genus <I>Marinoscillum</I> was indicated by the results of physiological and biochemical tests. On the basis of evidence from our polyphasic taxonomic study, strain SJP7<SUP>T</SUP> represents a novel species of the genus <I>Marinoscillum</I>, for which the name <I>Marinoscillum</I> <I>luteum</I> sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of <I>Marinoscillum</I> <I>luteum</I> is SJP7<SUP>T</SUP> ( = KCTC 23939<SUP>T</SUP> = NCAIM B02491<SUP>T</SUP>).</P>
