        연구논문 : 일제말기 인촌 김성수 친일 논란에 대한 재검토

        민간단체와 정부기구가 김성수의 일제말기 행적에 대해 친일반민족행위였다고 결정한 상태다. 그러나 동시대인의 증언을 고려하지 않고 문헌 중심으로 행적을 규명했다는 한계가 있다. 해방직후 김성수는 친일파로 인식되지 않았다. 김성수가 의혹을 받게 된 것은 1945년 10월 김성수 명의의 학병지원 독려 기고문이 수록된 『반역자와 애국자(Traitors and Patriots)』라는 영문 팸플릿이 배포된 이후다. 이 선전선동 유인물을 배포한 것은 박헌영 등이 김성수를 ‘친일파’로 낙인하여 건국과정에서 배제시키려 했기 때문이다. 김성수 대신 연설문을 도맡아 썼던 측근 유진오는 그 글을 보고 당황한 김성수에게 그 글은 『매일신보』 기자가 쓴 것이라고 밝힌다. 미국학자 브루스 커밍스는 자료검증을 하지 않아 김성수와 관련해 결정적인 잘못을 저질렀다. 일부 학자들은 김성수가 하지 않은 행위까지 증거로 조작했다. 자료검증을 하지 않은 채 김성수의 친일을 ‘증거’하려는 시도는 오류투성이의 저작물을 양산했다. 김성수 친일의 자료는 총독부 기관지의 기사와 친일단체 임원 명단이 전부다. 총독부 기관지의 기사는 일제의 강압적인 분위기에서 왜곡되고 날조돼 ‘증거’로 삼을 수 없다. 친일단체에도 전문학교 교장이자 조선인 유력자로서 이름이 도용됐다. 결국 김성수의 일제 말 행적이 이전과 다르게 비춰지게 된 것은 1937년 중일전쟁으로 전시상황이 돼 김성수에게 가해진 일제의 압력이 커졌기 때문이었다. 특히 1943년 10월 학생들의 학병지원과 관련된 새 제도가 시행됨에 따라 교장직을 맡고 있는 김성수가 기사에 이전보다 더 등장하게 된 것이다. 그 과정에서 총독부의 입맛대로 기사 왜곡과 날조가 이루어졌다. 김성수의 친일을 주장하는 저작물들은 동시대인의 증언을 한마디도 담지 않았다. 친일의혹을 해명하는 증언에 일부 문제가 있다고 기사들이 왜곡되거나 날조되지 않았다고 하는 것도 비논리적이다. 김성수에게 책임을 묻자면 자신의 이름도용이나 기사날조를 묵인했다는 것이다. 김성수 본인이 제대로 인지하지 못한 ‘행적’이 친일행위로 인식되고 있는 상황이기도하다. 일부 주장과 같이 김성수가 동아일보가 폐간된 뒤 보성전문을 살리기 위해 일제에 협력했다는 것은 근거가 없다. 동아일보 기자 출신 박학보는 김성수가 민족과 나라를 위해서라면 재산이나 지위에 연연하지 않을 것으로 평가했다. 유진오는 김성수가 폐교의 위협을 무릅쓰고 일제 부역자아들의 입학 청탁을 거절했듯이 보성전문은 김성수에게 신념을 위해 포기할 수 있는 ‘사업’이었다고 보았다. 김성수의 신념은 친일과 반일을 뛰어넘는 차원의 것이었다. Both non-governmental and governmental organizations branded Sungsoo Kim``s colonial past as having been a part of pro-Japan collaborative activities during the wartime mobilization of 1937-45. However, such presumptions were made based only on documents, while not regarding any of the statements made by his contemporaries. He had a good nationalist reputation right after Korea’s liberation. He became suspected of being pro-Japanese after a pamphlet entitled 『The Traitors and the Patriots』 was distributed in October, 1945. The pamphlet contained a speech by Sungsoo Kim, containing a message of encouragement to Korean students to join the Japanese army in 1943. It was an article published in the colonial press, the Maeil Sinbo. Political radicals, represented by Heon-yeong Park used the pamphlet to exclude Sungsoo Kim from the course of nation building by branding him as a pro-Japan collaborator. The actual speech writer Jin-oh Yoo explained to the confused and shocked Sungsoo Kim that the article had been written by a reporter from Maeil Sinbo. Bruce Cummings, a distinguished American scholar, made a great mistake by not having verified the documents published about Kim``s collaboration. Some Korean scholars even made false evidences of his collaboration acts. All attempts and documents made to falsely accuse Kim of having been pro-Japan made complete books full of errors. The only evidence of his collaborative acts is articles in the colonial press and a list of executive names of pro-Japanese organizations. Because the articles in the colonial press were distorted during the oppressive wartime periods, it cannot be used as ‘evidence’ for acts of his collaboration. His name was falsely used in executive lists of pro-Japanese organizations. Ultimately, reasons for why Kim’s activities of past-colonial period seem different from that of before, is because of increased pressures from the colonial government after the Sino-Japanese War in July, 1937. Especially, as the new special volunteer recruitment system was set in motion in October, 1943, articles of Sungsoo Kim, president of Posung College, appeared more often in the colonial press. Articles in the colonial press were distorted and twisted as the colonial government had wanted. The writings claiming of his collaboration did not contain a single statement from contemporaries. It is illogical to say the articles weren’t distorted because the statements asserting his innocence have some errors. If Sungsoo Kim were to be held responsible, his fault would only be that he neglected to correct the act of people falsely using his name or acquiescing about false articles about his collaboration. It is also a problem that his whereabouts, which he himself was unaware of, is perceived as having done pro-Japan collaborative activities. Some assertions that Kim collaborated with the Japanese to maintain Posung College, after the discontinuance of the Dong-A Ilbo, has no grounds. Hak-bo Park, a former Dong-A Ilbo reporter, evaluated Sungsoo Kim as a man who would gladly give up his fortune and social status for his country. Jin-oh Yoo saw Posung College as a business to Kim, a business Kim could give up for his beliefs. On one occasion, Kim had risked losing his college by having refused the admission of a collaborator``s request for his son``s. Sungsoo Kim’s belief in righteousness was beyond that of pro-Japanese and anti-Japanese sentiments.

        체간안정화 훈련이 만성 뇌졸중 환자의 호흡기능에 미치는 효과

        Purpose : The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of trunk stability training on improving trunk control, respiratory function, and respiratory muscle activation in stroke patients. Methods : The subjects were assigned to two groups: the intervention group (n=15) and the control group (n=15). Both groups participated in a conventional stroke rehabilitation program, but the intervention group also received trunk stability training for 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week, for 6 weeks. The main trunk stability exercise consisted of the dead bug exercise. Trunk control was assessed using a trunk impairment scale, and respiratory function (pulmonary function and respiratory muscle function) was assessed using spirometry. The data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation, independent t-test, and paired t-test. Results : Trunk control was significantly positively correlated with pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength. Both groups showed a significant increase in trunk control and respiratory function. Conclusion : This study demonstrated that a conventional stroke rehabilitation program and trunk stability training have positive effects on respiratory function and respiratory muscle activation in stroke patients.

      • Discovery of urinary metabolomic biomarkers for early detection of acute kidney injury

        <P>The discovery of new biomarkers for early detection of drug-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is clinically important. In this study, sensitive metabolomic biomarkers identified in the urine of rats were used to detect cisplatin-induced AKI. Cisplatin (10 mg kg(-1), i.p.) was administered to Sprague-Dawley rats, which were subsequently euthanized after 1, 3 or 5 days. In cisplatin-treated rats, mild histopathological alterations were noted at day 1, and these changes were severe at days 3 and 5. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (SCr) levels were significantly increased at days 3 and 5. The levels of new urinary protein-based biomarkers, including kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1), glutathione S-transferase-alpha (GST-alpha), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), calbindin, clusterin, neutrophil, neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and osteopontin, were significantly elevated at days 3 and 5. Among urinary metabolites, trigonelline and 3-indoxylsulfate (3-IS) levels were significantly decreased in urine collected from cisplatin-treated rats prior to histological kidney damage. However, carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), a hepatotoxicant, did not affect these urinary biomarkers. Trigonelline is closely associated with GSH depletion and results in insufficient antioxidant capacity against cisplatin-induced AKI. The predominant cisplatin-induced AKI marker appeared to be reduced in urinary 3-IS levels. Because 3-IS is predominantly excreted via active secretion in proximal tubules, a decrease is indicative of tubular damage. Further, urinary excretion of 3-IS levels was markedly reduced in patients with AKI compared to normal subjects. The area under the curve receiver operating characteristics (AUC-ROC) for 3-IS was higher than for SCr, BUN, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), total protein, and glucose. Therefore, low urinary or high serum 3-IS levels may be more useful for early detection of AKI than conventional biomarkers.</P>

        Biodegradable retinal fixation devices obtain mechnical fixation of the retina with desirable chorioretinal scarring and with the potential for local, sustained release of antimetabolites and steroids to inhibit proliferative vitreoretinopathy. We manufactured a biodegradable retinal tack with barb that was designed in order to prevent intrusion from implantation of retinal tacks. This study was carried to evaluate the efficacy for retinal fixation and the capability for sustained release of drugs with a newly designed biodegradable retinal tack Biodegradable retinal tacks were made of polymers of glycolic acids and were designed with barbs in a shape to prevent the disinsertion. Biodegradale retinal tacks are divided into 3 parts, a conical portion that is inserted into the sclera, a cylinder portion that remains in the vitreous, and a neck portion between the pin and the cylinder. The tapered conical end was manufactured to allow easy insertion through the retina and choroid into the sclera. A cylinder portion was manufactured with a tapered angle that fixes firmly into the orifice of 19 gauge spinal needle. A neck portion, 0.4 mm in diameter, was designed to prevent disinsertion from following implantation of retinal tack. The applicator was a 19 gauge spinal needle and its orifice was prepared to 15°angle to accept the tapered cylinder portion of the retinal tack. The retinal tacks, secured in the needles, were passed through the formed vitreous and inserted into the retina, choroid, and sclera and were released by pushing the internal needle, usually within 2-3mm of the medullary ray of the posterior rabbit retina A retinal tack was placed in each of 8 pigmented rabbit eyes. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy and fundus photography were performed periodically from 1 day to 8 weeks after surgery. Eight eyes were enucleated and studied by light microscopy at 8 weeks. Biomicroscopic evaluation of the animals revealed edemas adjacent to the retinal surfaces immediately after insertion of the biodegradable retinal tacks in all the animals. These edemas disappeared after 1 week. The first noticeable change in the size of retinal tacks was shown after 2weeks. The size of the retinal tacks gradually got smaller, decreasing to about one-half at 4 weeks and about one-third at 8 weeks. All retinal tacks remained in inserted places without any movement for an 8 week period. On light microscopy, epiretinal proliferations were seen to extend into the vitreous cavity. Cellular capsules that lined the inner aspect of the scleral defect caused by tack insertion were found. However the adjacent retina had a normal cytologic appearance and architecture in all specimens. We manufactured a biodegradable retinal tack that is designed to prevent intrusion from implantation of retinal tacks. All biodegradable retinal tacks reduce in size with time, but no retinal tacks extruded from the inserted place. The newly designed biodegradable retinal tack can be used for retinal fixation and may be used as a vehicle for the introduction of pharmacologic agents to prevent the cellular events that promote proliferative vitreoretinopathy.

      • 석청(Mad-honey) 복용 후 유발된 부정맥 1예

        석청에 포함된 grayanotoxin에 의해 독성 작용이 나올 수 있으며, 이러한 독성 작용은 일반적으로 24시간 이내 저절로 회복된다. 최근에 본 저자들은 석청 복용 후 발생한 심실빈맥을 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. 49세 남자가 호흡곤란으로 내원하였으며, 내원당시 분당 40회 정도의 동성 서맥이 관찰되었고, 수액을 투여하던 중 심실 빈맥이 발생하였다. 항부정맥제를 투여 후 정상 동율동으로 전환되었으며, 특별한 이상 없이 4일 후 퇴원하였다. Mad-honey intoxication caused by the consumption of honey producted from the nectar of rhododendrons. The grayanotoxins cause the intoxication. The toxic effects of mad-honey poisoning are rarely fatal and generally last for no more than 24 hours. We experienced one case, a 49 years-old man who presented with dyspnea after ingestion of mad-honey. He showed marked sinus bradycardia with < 40 beats per minute on admission. The cardiac rhythm was changed to ventricular tachycardia immediately. These features resolved completely in 24 hours with continuous infusion of amiodarone(600 mg per day) and fluids. We report the case of intoxication of mad-honey as a presentation of fatal cardiac arrhythmia.

      • 걷기 운동시 덤벨 부하가 비만중년여성의 신체구성 및 혈중지질성분에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 체중의 4%중량 덤벨을 부하한 걷기 운동이 비만 중년여성의 신체구성과 혈중지질성분에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보기 위하여 체지방율이 30% 이상인 비만 중년여성을 대상으로 무부하집단, 부하집단으로 나누어 8주간 운동을 실시한 후 신체구성 변인(체중, 체지방량, 근육량, WHR)과 혈중지질 변인(TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C)을 측정 및 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 신체구성 변인 1) 체중, 체지방량, WHR은 집단별로 유의한 차이가 없었지만, 사전에 비해 사후에 유의하게 감소하였다. 2) 근육량은 집단과 시점별로 유의한 차이가 없었고, 사전에 비해 사후에도 유의한 차이가 없었다. 2. 혈중지질 변인 1) TC와 TG는 집단별로 유의한 차이가 없었지만, 사전에 비해 사후에 유의하게 감소하였다. 2) HDL-C는 집단별로는 유의한 차이가 없었지만, 사전에 비해 사후에 유의하게 증가하였다. 집단과 시점의 상호작용효과도 나타났다. 3) LDL-C는 집단별로는 유의한 차이가 없었지만, 사전에 비해 사후에 유의하게 감소하였ㄷ. 집단과 시점의 상호작용효과도 나타났다. 결론적으로 무부하 걷기운동과 체중의 4%중량의 덤벨을 부하한 걷기운동이 비만 중년여성의 신체구성과 혈중지질성분에 긍정적인 변화를 미친 것으로 볼 수 있다. 그러나 본 연구에서 무부하 걷기운동과 체중의 4%중량의 덤벨을 부하한 걷기 운동간의 뚜렷한 차이를 규명해 내지 못하였다. 이 부분에 대해서는 앞으로 지속적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

      • Sheehan 증후군 발생한 Torsades de Pointes

        재발하는 심실 빈맥으로 내원한 환자에서 Sheehan 증후군을 진단하였고, 적절한 호르몬 보충 치료 후 심전도 이상이 정상으로 회복된 예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Torsades de Pointes is a form of polymorphic ventricular tachycardia that is associated with prolongation of QT intervals, characterized by QRS complexes of progressively changing ampulitude and cyclic length, giving the appearance of oscillations around the baseline. A 77 years-old woman was presented with hypotention and arrhythmia. Twenty four-hour ECG showed typical episodes of torsades de pointes with QT prolongation. This arrhythmia was controlled by isoproterenol and magnesium infusion, but it was not disappeared. She was diagnosed as Sheehan's syndrome by past history, anterior pituitary stimulation test and empty sella on CT scan. After hormone replacement treatment, Prolonged QT interval was normalized and polymorphic ventricular tachycardia has not recurred. We report a case of torsades de pointes associated with Sheehan's syndrome

        Jehovah's Witness comprise a unique obstetric population. Their refusal of blood stems from an interpretation of a literal translation of the Bible, and it is this belief that puts them at an increased risk of morbidity and mortality if hemorrhage occurs. We report two cases of a Jehovah's Witness who bled massively due to obstetric hemorrhage, refused blood transfusion and had profound anemia. The patients were treated with recombinant human erythropoietin, parenteral iron and oxygen. And they were treated on an intensive care unit with intermittent positive pressure ventilation. We reviewed with literature considering the therapy for acutely anemic patients who refuse transfusion to decrease the duration of the most severe anemia.

      • 특별직교이방성 적층복합판의 형상비 변화에 따른 진동특성

        Recently, the application of high strength advanced composites in the aeronautics, aerospace and automobile industries has been extremely developed because of the advantages of such materials over the traditional materials. Today, advanced composites has been used in limited scale in civil engineering structures. One of the reasons for this has been mainly their complex nature of properties, manufacturing techniques and analysis methods on the part of civil engineers. Therefore, Vibration analysis is carried-out by classical theory and new vibration theory with increasing aspect ratios(b/a) in this paper. The comparisons of the classical energy method and Kim`s theory in beams and special orthotropic laminated composite plates is made. Suggestions are made with respect to plate analysis for structures composed of advanced composite materials.
