The magnetic and transport properties of a Pr-encaged compound PrOs2Zn20 have been studiedby the electrical resistivity (T), magnetic susceptibility ρ(T), and specific heat C(T) measurementsdown to 2 K. The (T) and the C(T) show distinct anomalies at Ts = 87 K, which resemble theanomalies in the isostructural and isoelectronic compound PrRu2Zn20 with the structural phasetransition at Ts = 138 K. Above 50 K, the ρ(T) follows the Curie-Weiss law with the effectivemagnetic moment of 3.64 µB/f.u., which indicates the trivalent state of the Pr ion. The saturatedbehavior of ρ(T) below 5 K indicates the Van-Vleck paramagnetic state. Hence, the Pr3+ ion fallsin a nonmagnetic ground state under the crystalline electric field.

Treatment of mice with 0.04% anthranilic acid (AnA) as drinking water resulted in an apparent stimulation of pup's growth and food intake of mothers in their first lactations associated with an increased rearing rate and no alteration in plasma prolactin level. AnA showed no significant effects on the day of vaginal opening, the pattern of estrous cycles, plasma growth hormone level and endocrine organ weights of the female and male offspring. The growth of male offspring was significantly retarded by AnA, however, their reproductivity was quite normal. The results indicate the AnA can simulate lactation of mice through little modulation of endocrine systems.

Based on our previous results that among 4 strains of mice SHN and GR/A showed the highest mammary growth potentials in females and males, respectively. Effects of crossbreeding on normal and neoplastic mammary growth were studied in $(SHN\;{\times}\;GR/A)F_1$ virgin female mice. $F_1$ mice were higher than the parental strains in the end-bud formation and the ductal growth of mammary glands at 60 days of age and at tumorous age, respectively. While there was little difference between $F_1$ and both parental strains in the onset age of the first mammary tumors, mammary tumorigenic potential was apparently higher in the former than in the latters. This would be the first report that demonstrated directly the contribution of mammary growth potential of males to that of female offspring.

In this paper, we compare the modified COMMONS GAME utilizing EAs & NNs with the originalCOMMONS GAME from the point of view of “Which game playing is more exciting ?” We also compare it with the modified COMMONS GAME utilizing GAs & NNs. Several game playings by our university students confirm thatthe modified COMMONS GAME utilizing EAs & NNs can provide by far the best chance for letting players consider seriously about the commons.

Conditioner wear, copper polish rates, pad temperature and coefficient of friction (COF) are measured for two novel Mitsubishi Materials Corporation designs during an extended wear and polishing test. Both designs are coated with a $Teflon^{TM}$ film to reduce substrate wear and chemical attack. Using optical interferometry, changes in the coating that result in gradual changes in diamond exposure are measured. Theories of the COF, conditioning, and polishing are applied to explain the observed performance differences between the designs.

Background Worldwide, approximately 2% of new cancers are of the brain. Five-year survival rates among brain cancer patients have been reported as a little over a third. Differences in clinical outcomes between brain tumor patients of different races remain poorly understood. Methods A retrospective chart review was performed on brain tumor resection patients≥18 years old. Demographics, treatment variables, and survival outcomes were collected. Primary outcomes were length of stay, recurrence rate, progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS). Results A total of 452 patients were included in analysis. Females and males had nearly a 1:1 ratio (n=242 and n=220, respectively). Mean age was 54.8 years (SD: 14.5 range: 18-90). Females composed 69% (n=48) of Asian patients; males constituted 31% (n=22). Mean age of the Asian pa-tients was 55.9 years (SD: 14.6 range: 26-89). Asian-only cohort tumor pathologies included glioblas-toma (GBM) (n=14), high-grade glioma (n=7), low-grade glioma (n=4), meningioma (n=38), and metastases (n=7). Of the 185 meningioma patients, non-Asian patients comprised 79% of the group (n=146). Of the 65 GBM patients in total, non-Asian patients made up 89% of the GBM cohort (n=58). There were no statistically significant differences between these groups of both cohorts in recurrence (p= 0.1580 and p=0.6294, respectively), PFS (p=0.9662 and p=0.4048, respectively), or OS (p=0.3711 and p=0.8183, respectively). Conclusion Studies evaluating the survival between patients of different racial backgrounds against several tumor varieties are rare. Patients of certain racial backgrounds may need additional consider-ation when being attended to despite the same mutational composition as their counterparts. Repeated studies using national databases may yield more conclusive results.
