<P><B>Background</B></P><P>Src homology 2 domain–containing inositol 5-phosphatase 1 (SHIP-1) controls the intracellular level of the phosphoinositide 3–kinase product phosphotidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate and functions as a negative regulator of cytokine and immune receptor signaling. Emerging evidence suggests that the phosphoinositide 3-kinase pathway might be involved in allergic inflammation in the lung. However, the functional relevance of SHIP-1 in the T<SUB>H</SUB>2 activation pathway has not been established. <I>SHIP-1</I><SUP>−/−</SUP> mice have spontaneous myeloproliferative inflammation in the lung, the nature of which has not been elucidated. We hypothesized that SHIP-1 plays an important role as a regulator in pulmonary allergic inflammation and in maintaining lung homeostasis.</P><P><B>Objective</B></P><P>To test our hypothesis, we characterized the pulmonary phenotype of <I>SHIP-1</I><SUP>−/−</SUP> mice.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Analyses of lung histopathology and bronchoalveolar lavage cellularity revealed that the majority of <I>SHIP-1</I><SUP>−/−</SUP> mice had progressive and severe pulmonary inflammation of macrophages, lymphocytes, neutrophils, and eosinophils; mucous hyperplasia; airway epithelial hypertrophy; and subepithelial fibrosis. These pathologic changes were accompanied by exaggerated production of T<SUB>H</SUB>2 cytokines and chemokines, including IL-4, IL-13, eotaxin, and monocyte chemoattractant protein 1, in the lung. Furthermore, the number of mast cells significantly increased, and many of these cells were undergoing degranulation, which was correlated with increased content and spontaneous release of histamine in the lung tissue of <I>SHIP-1</I><SUP>−/−</SUP> mice.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>These findings provide strong evidence that mice lacking SHIP-1 have an allergic inflammation in the lung, suggesting that SHIP-1 plays an important role in regulating the T<SUB>H</SUB>2 signaling pathway and in maintaining lung homeostasis.</P><P><B>Clinical implications</B></P><P>SHIP-1 as a regulator might be a potential therapeutic target for controlling allergic inflammation in diseases such as asthma.</P>
A new record of Trichocladium griseum in Korea: morphological and molecular characterization

A unrecorded species of Trichocladium, Trichocladium griseum, was isolated in 2017 during a survey of fungal diversity in Ulsan province, South Korea. This species was identified based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) rDNA and β-tubulin gene sequences. T. griseum has not yet been reported in South Korea. Thus, we report for the first time a new record of Trichocladium griseum in Korea, and we include the descriptions and morphological illustrations of this fungus.

<P>Extensive efforts have been focused on the study of wide-band gap (WBG) polymers due to their important applications in multiple junction and ternary blend organic solar cells. Herein, three WBG copolymers named PBDT(X)-T1 (X = O, S, Se) were synthesized based on the benzodithiophene (BDT) donor unit and 1,3-bis(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)-5,7-bis(2-ethylhexyl)-4H, 8H-benzo[1,2-c: 4,5-c']dithiophene-4,8-dione (T1) acceptor unit. Different aromatic heterocycle groups (furan, thiophene and selenophene) were introduced to modify the BDT unit to investigate the influence of conjugated side chains on the photovoltaic properties of conjugated polymers. Photophysical properties, electrochemistry, charge transport and crystalline properties of the polymers were studied to discuss the role of chalcogen atoms on the performance of conjugated polymers. Solar cells based on these three WBG copolymers were fabricated. Among them, the PBDT(Se)-T1-based solar cell shows the best photovoltaic performance with the highest power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 8.52%, an open-circuit voltage (V-oc) of 0.91 V, and a high fill factor (FF) of 72%. The high crystallinity and preferential face-on orientation in the blend film partially explain the superior photovoltaic performance achieved in PBDT(Se)-T1-based solar cells. The results indicate the important role of chalcogen atoms in conjugated side chains and that high photovoltaic performance can be realized through side chain engineering of BDT-based WBG conjugated polymers.</P>
아교버섯(Phlebia tremellosa)의 리그닌 분해효소 형질전환체를 이용한 염료의 탈색

리그닌 분해효소 군을 가진 백색부후균들은 다핵방향족 화합물을 포함하여 염료와 폭약 및 내분비장애 물질의 분해 등 다양한 난분해성 물질을 분해할 수 있다. 리그닌 분해효소 중 laccase와 manganese peroxidase (MnP)를 각각 발현하는 벡터를 국내에서 분리한 백색부후균류의 하나인 아교버섯(Phlebia tremellosa)에 형질전환 방법으로 도입시킨 형질전환체를 사용하여 염료의 탈색능력을 분석하였다. Methyl green의 경우 3일 후 약 50%의 탈색을 보인 야생형에 비하여 laccase 형질전환체(TF2-1)와 MnP 형질전환체(T5) 모두 90% 이상의 탈색을 보였다. Remazol brilliant blue R (RBBR)에서는 야생형이 약 67%의 탈색을 보인 반면 두 가지 형질전환체들은 약 85%의 탈색을 보였다. 각각의 형질전환체들은 laccase와 MnP의 활성 및 유전자 발현도 활발한 것으로 확인되었다. White rot fungi which have lignin degrading enzymes show high degrading activity to diverse recalcitrant compounds such as polycyclic aromatic compounds, dyes, explosives and endocrine disrupting chemicals. We have examined decolorizing activity of dyes by Phlebia tremellosa and two transformants which had genetically transformed using laccase or manganese peroxidase (MnP) gene. In case of methyl green, wild type strain showed 50% decolorization while laccase transformant (TF2-1) and MnP transformant (T5) showed more than 90% decolorization on day 3. Remazol brilliant blue R(RBBR) was decolorized up to 85% by two transformants while the wild type showed 67% decolorization on day 3. Transformants TF2-1 and T5 both showed increased laccase and MnP activity respectively during the whole growing phase.

A study on the morbidity status of a rural community ; Su-Dong Myun, Nam Yang Ju Gun, Kyung Gi Do was carried out from January 5, to 25, 1982 through analyzing the medical records of Su-Dong Health Subcenter during the period of September, 1980 to August, 1981 and following results was obtained. 1) The number of new patients during a year was 3,651 composed of 49.8% male and 50.2% female, and the cumulated visiting number of the out patients was 5,481. 2) The order of five major diseases which were classified the International Classitication of Diseases(I. C. D.) was Diseases of the Respiratory System(33.2%), Diseases of the Digestive System (21.3%), Diseases of the Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue (17.0%), AccidentsㆍPoisoningsㆍViolence (9.4%), and Diseases of the Nervous System and Sense Organs (8.4%). 3) Annual morbidity rate was 700.6 per 1,000 population and 699.6 for male and 710.6 for female. 4) The highest age specific morbidity rate per 1,000 population was 2,408.1 in the age group of 0 ∼ 4 and the lowest was 272.9 in the age group of 15 19. 5) The average clinic visiting times per out patient was 1. 6. 6) Medical fee of patients visited to Health Subcenter was covered from 3 different sources as follows ; 81.2% of total patients was paid by patient self, 9.5% by government as medical program, and 9.3% by medical insurance. 7) Average medical fee per first visiting was 1,970 ± 1,320(Won) and average medical fee per case was 2,990 ± 2,590(Won). 8) The annual utility rate of Health Subcenter of the community was 710.0 per 1,000 population, and the highest rate (1,350.4) was shown in the people of Ribsouk 2 Rie and the lowest(381.0) in Cidoon Rie.
Brazing 과 Metallizing 에 의한 세라믹/금속 접합재 잔류응력의 유한요소 해석

In this study finite element method(FEM) is utilized to determine residual stress distributions induced by heat generated during joining processes of ceramics and metals. The finite element analysis is focused on the joining area, that comprises the interfacial area between a metal and a insert-layer, the insert-layer itself and adjoining area between the insert-layer and a ceramic. The residual stress distributions on the joining area are analyzed as function of thicknesses and yield stresses of the insert-layer(Brazing Filler Metal), and for different kinds of metals including SUS304 and SM45C. Two typical joining processes are considered in this investigation ; Active Metal Brazing and Metallizing. Stress distributions on the joining areas are computed for both processes and are compared with one another. This comparison can lead to the better joining method in reducing the residual stresses and consequently provide improved joining technologies.
