        A Comparative Analysis of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Architectures for Box Compression Strength Estimation

        Though box compression strength (BCS) is commonly used as a performance criterion for shipping containers, estimating BCS remains a challenge. In this study, artificial neural networks (ANN) are implemented as a new tool, with a focus on building up ANN architectures for BCS estimation. An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model can be constructed by adjusting four modeling factors: hidden neuron numbers, epochs, number of modeling cycles, and number of data points. The four factors interact with each other to influence model accuracy and can be optimized by minimizing model’s Mean Squared Error (MSE). Using both data from the literature and “synthetic” data based on the McKee equation, we find that model estimation accuracy remains limited due to the uncertainty in both the input parameters and the ANN process itself. The population size to build an ANN model has been identified based on different data sets. This study provides a methodology guide for future research exploring the applicability of ANN to address problems and answer questions in the corrugated industry.

        Dynamic Spectrum Load Balancing for Cognitive Radio in Frequency Domain and Time Domain

        As a solution to spectrum under-utilization problem, Cognitive radio (CR) introduces a dynamic spectrum access technology. In the area, one of the most important problems is how secondary users (SUs) should choose between the available channels, which means how to achieve load balancing between channels. We consider spectrum load balancing problem for CR system in frequency domain and especially in time domain. Our objective is to balance the load among the channels and balance the occupied time length of slots for a fixed channel dynamically in order to obtain a user-optimal solution. In frequency domain, we refer to Dynamic Noncooperative Scheme with Communication (DNCOOPC) used in distributed system and a distributed Dynamic Spectrum Load Balancing algorithm (DSLB) is formed based on DNCOOPC. In time domain, Spectrum Load Balancing method with QoS support is proposed based on Dynamic Feed Back theory and Hash Table (SLBDH). The performance of DSLB and SLBDH are evaluated. In frequency domain, DSLB is more efficient compared with existing Compare_And_Balance (CAB) algorithm and gets more throughput compared with Spectrum Load Balancing (SLB) algorithm. Also, DSLB is a fair scheme for all devices. In time domain, SLBDH is an efficient and precise solution compared with Spectrum Load Smoothing (SLS) method.

        Testing direction and relative distance nearest to test position of environmental field intensity are analyzed using simulating calculation, taking three-dimensional cube good conductor as general test equipment, under vertical incidence of single plane wave, the effect of electrical size of the test equipment on test point selection is analyzed; incident angle of plane wave is transformed to calculate an relative error between selected position field intensity and environmental field intensity in oblique incidence condition so as to meet the demand of the experiment; and then promote it to reverberation chamber which is distributed as superposed field of multiple columns plane wave, make an analytical calculation on relative error , which can be controlled within 3%, of selected test point to satisfy the experimental requirements, and it can be applied to practical test.

        Aromatic Diamino-bridged Bis(β-cyclodextrin) as Fluorescent Sensor for the Molecular Recognition of Bile Salts

        representative bile salts, i.e., cholate (CA), deoxycholate (DCA), glycocholate (GCA) and taurocholate (TCA), has been investigated at 25 °C in phosphate buffer (pH 7.20) by fluorescence, circular dichroism and 2D NMR spectroscopy. The result indicated that the bis(β-cyclodextrin) 2 acts as fluorescent sensor and displays remarkable fluorescence enhancement upon addition of optically inert bile salts. Form the induced circular dichroism (ICD) and ROESY spectra, it is deduced that the phenyl moiety in the linker of bis(β-cyclodextrin) 2 is partially self-included in the CD cavity, and is not expelled out of the CD cavity upon complexation with bile guests. Owing to the cooperative host-tether-guest binding mode in which the linker and guest are coincluded in the two CD cavities, bis(β-cyclodextrin) 2 significantly enhanced binding ability and molecular selectivity as compared with the native β-cyclodextrin 1 through the simultaneous contributions of hydrophobic, hydrogen bond, and electrostatic interactions. The complex stability constants are discussed comparatively and globally from the viewpoints of multiple recognition between host and guest.

        新媒体演讲《后浪》与《看见》的修辞比较分析

        본고는 신 아리스토텔레스 수사학 비평 방법론에 기초하여 뉴미디어 중국어 연설 "허우랑"과 "칸지엔"에 대하여 수사학적 비교분석을 한다. 그러기 위하여 수사비평의 실천적 틀을 적용하여 뉴미디어의 특성에 따른 장면구성, 담화분석, 회화효과 등 3가지 측면에서 "허우랑"과 "칸지엔"의 수사적 효과에 대한 평가항목을 설정하였다. 연설의 장면 구성 측면에서는 연설가와, 청중을 각각 평가하기 위해 총 5개의 평가 항목을 설정하고 평가한 결과, "칸지엔" 연설가는 전문적인 교육이 다소 부족했음을 발견했고 "허우랑"의 관객들은 자신들을 대변하는 면을 부정했으므로 각각 1점씩 득점하는데 그쳤다. 담화분석에서는 선행연구 분석에 따라 총 6개의 문항을 설정하였다. "허우랑"은 관객의 호감을 얻는다는 점에서 다소 과장이 있다고 판단하였다. 수사법사용 측면에서 "칸지엔"은 "허우랑"보다 더욱 다양한 활용을 하였고, "공감 유발하는 감정 표현"에 대한 조사에서 "칸지엔"은 자신과 서민, 관객을 하나의 공동체로 포용하며, "동료 여행자"로서 관객의 반성을 촉발할 수 있었다. 연설의 효과 면에서 두 연설가는 각자의 설득 의도를 잘 전달했다. 홍보 플랫폼은 트래픽을 확보하면서 놀라운 효과를 발휘하였다. 하지만 매스컴과 커뮤니티 이용자들이 긍정적인 평가를 할 것인지에 대해서는 "허우랑"이 "완전긍정"과 "완전 부정"의 양 극단이 있었던 반면, "칸지엔"은 단점과 제기된 논란을 개선하는데 성공하여 출시 후 큰 호평을 받았다. Based on the mode of neo-Aristotelian rhetorical criticism, this paper analyzes and compares the discourse rhetoric of the new media speeches "Hou lang" and "Kan jian". Using the practical framework of neo-Aristotelian rhetorical criticism, this paper sets up the evaluation items of rhetorical effect of "Hou lang" and "Kan jian" from three aspects of scene construction, discourse analysis and speech effect according to the characteristics of new media speeches. In terms of scene construction, a total of five evaluation items were set to evaluate the speaker, the occasion and the audience respectively. However, the speakers of "Kan jian" were slightly lacking in professional education, and the audiences of "Hou lang" denied that they represented themselves, so they lost one point each. In terms of discourse analysis, a total of 6 items are set according to previous studies. However, in terms of gaining the goodwill of the audience, "Hou lang" is too exaggerated and has a negative effect. In terms of the use of rhetoric, "Kan jian" is more diversified than "Hou lang"; On the investigation of "emotional expression that causes empathy", "Kan jian" sets itself and ordinary people, “audience” as a community, and intervenes as "fellow traveler", which is more able to arouse audience"s resonance. In terms of the effect of the speech, both of them achieved their respective intentions. The publicity platform obtained the traffic and triggered the phenomenal effect, fully achieving the expected effect. However, in terms of "whether the mass media and community users will give a positive evaluation", "Hou lang" is controversial, and there are two extremes of "completely positive" and "completely negative", while "Kan jian" is a reference to the former, on the basis of which the shortcomings and controversies are improved, so it has been widely praised after its release.

        Glia maturation factor beta deficiency protects against diabetic osteoporosis by suppressing osteoclast hyperactivity

        Excessive osteoclast activation, which depends on dramatic changes in actin dynamics, causes osteoporosis (OP). The molecular mechanism of osteoclast activation in OP related to type 1 diabetes (T1D) remains unclear. Glia maturation factor beta (GMFB) is considered a growth and differentiation factor for both glia and neurons. Here, we demonstrated that Gmfb deficiency effectively ameliorated the phenotype of T1D-OP in rats by inhibiting osteoclast hyperactivity. In vitro assays showed that GMFB participated in osteoclast activation rather than proliferation. Gmfb deficiency did not affect osteoclast sealing zone (SZ) formation but effectively decreased the SZ area by decreasing actin depolymerization. When GMFB was overexpressed in Gmfb-deficient osteoclasts, the size of the SZ area was enlarged in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, decreased actin depolymerization led to a decrease in nuclear G-actin, which activated MKL1/SRF-dependent gene transcription. We found that pro-osteoclastogenic factors (Mmp9 and Mmp14) were downregulated, while anti-osteoclastogenic factors (Cftr and Fhl2) were upregulated in Gmfb KO osteoclasts. A GMFB inhibitor, DS-30, targeting the binding site of GMFB and Arp2/3, was obtained. Biocore analysis revealed a high affinity between DS-30 and GMFB in a dose-dependent manner. As expected, DS-30 strongly suppressed osteoclast hyperactivity in vivo and in vitro. In conclusion, our work identified a new therapeutic strategy for T1D-OP treatment. The discovery of GMFB inhibitors will contribute to translational research on T1D-OP.
