        Photonic Crystals: Integration of Colloidal Photonic Crystals toward Miniaturized Spectrometers (Adv. Mater. 9/2010)

        <B>Graphic Abstract</B> <P>The cover shows a schematic illustration of patterned colloidal photonic crystals with different bandgap positions. When an unknown light source impinges on the patterned photonic crystals, the light information can be identified from the reflection intensity profile of the constituent photonic crystals.         한우, 칡소 및 제주 흑우 Calpain-Calpastatin 유전자 다양성

        The aim of study was to investigate genetic diversity for the calpain/calpastatin gene in three Hanwoo breeds [(Brown (n=62), Brindle (n=81) and Jeju Black (n=30)]. Random samples from three breeds of Hanwoo were selected and genotyped for the 7 SNPs of calpain/calpastatin using TaqMan method. Allele frequencies were investigated for CAPN1/CAST gene. Allele frequency of CAST2 SNP was 0.75, 0.59 and 0.22 for Brown, Brindle and Jeju black, respectively. The CAST3 revealed allele frequency of 0.59 and 0.57 in Brown and Jeju Black, while it showed very low allele frequency (0.07) in Brindle. In particular, favorable allele (G allele) for the CAPN1-2 SNP which was shown a strong association with tenderness in Taurine and Indicine cattle revealed 16% and 17% higher allele frequency in Brown Hanwoo (0.82) comparing Brindle (0.66) and Jeju Black Hanwoo (0.65). AMOVA demonstrated that among population variance occupied only 10% of total variance and among individual variance was 0%, while within individual variance was 90% of total variance. This result showed that population effect contributed very small portion of genetic to these three Hanwoo breeds, while within individual variance contributed large portion of genetic diversity within these Hanwoo breeds. In conclusion, three Hanwoo breeds (Brown, Brindle and Jeju black) showed a genetically homogeneous based on the 7 SNPs of CAPN1/CAST gene and it came from same ancestor to form modern Hanwoo breed.

      • 고정원 de-NOx SCR용 촉매로서의 Pt담지 MCM-48 촉매의 특성분석

        In this study, Pt supported on MCM-48 was tested as a new catalyst for hydrocarbon-SCR process. MCM-48 is a new support material of the catalyst fur SCR. Characterization and de-NOx activity test were performed for the newly synthesized MCM-48-supported catalysts. Pt(1wt%)/MCM-48 showed 90% of NO reduction between 250-500℃. Water addition effect was also studied. Water vapor of 10Vol% was injected to the reactor. Water did not exhibit a bad influence on the catalytic activity. This result proved that Pt/MCM-48 had higher water resistance than zeolite. We could expect that metal supported on MCM-48 might be a highly possible candidate fur a new catalyst of hydrocarbon SCR process.

        In this study, we investigated the thinking structure of 504 secondary school science teachers on the scientific methodology, the character of scientific knowledge, the ethics of science and the relationship between science and human beings' future. The results of questionnaires were analyzed on the basis of the current trends in the philosophy of science and technology. In particular, we focused our attention on the belief of teachers on traditional view of science in which science is argued neutral, objective, rational and empirical.

        VP-16으로 성공적으로 치료된 위 Kaposi 육종 1예

        The skin is an uncommon site of distant metastasis from any internal malignancy, and the incidence of metastatic skin lesions as the first symptom of disease is only 0.8% in patients with all systemic malignancies. Furthermore, cutaneous metastasis from adenocarcinoma of the stomach has been found to be extremely rare. A 35-year-old female patient was admitted due to multiple cutaneous nodules in her chest, abdomen, and back. A gastroendoscopic examination and biopsy was made according to the results of skin pathologic findings. Stomach and skin biopsy results revealed a signet ring cell type of adenocarcinoma. A case of gastric adenocarcinoma in which metastatic skin nodules appeared as the first sign of disease, is here in reported with a review of related literature.

        데페록사민 전처치가 토끼 심근경색 크기의 감소에 미치는 효과

        Background: Reperfusion of ischemic myocardium has been postulated to result in a specific oxygen radical mediated tissue injury. Iron may liberate during ischemia and we hypothesized that administration of the iron chelator, deferoxamine during ischemia would result in improved recovery after postischemic reperfusion. Purpose: To test whether iron-catalyzed processes contribute to myocardial necrosis during ischemia and reperfusion, deferoxamine was administered to block iron catalyzed hydroxyl radical formation in rabbits. Methods: Eleven rabbits were divided into two groups : control group (n=5) and deferoxamine pretreatment group (n=6). The left circumflex coronay artery was ligated for 30 minutes and reperfused for 180 minutes. Area at risk (AR) was measured by non-stained area with methylene blue injection into left atrium after left circumflex coronary artery ligation. Infarct size was measured by weighing after triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining. Heart rate was measured using electrocardiographic recording and systemic blood pressure was monitored by pressure transducer connected to the catheter in the left ventricle. Results: 1. There was no significant difference of heart rate and blood pressure in deferoxamine pretreatment group compared with control group. 2. There was significant decrease of serum iron concentration after continuous infusion of deferoxamine compared with serum iron concentration before ligation of coronary artery(P<0.05). 3. There was no significant difference of area at risk between control and deferoxamine pretreatment group. 4. Area at necrosis to area at risk was significantly reduced in deferoxamine pretreatment group compared with control group(P<0.05). The results suggest that deferoxamine infusion prior to coronary artery occlusion has a significant benefit in reducing infarct size in this model.

        In this paper, we study about moxa combustion characteristics and implemented electric moxa cure system which have same effect as a real moxa cure system which have same effect as a real moxa. For this purpose,we analyzed moxa combustion characteristics and then,devised the electrical moxa cure system by using the obtained results. The electrical moxa cure system consist of a thermal stimulating part (heater, themal sensor). and amplifier, A/D converter, PWM power controller, and a computer system. As a result of the experiments. it shows very simular stimulation patterns that a real moxa.

        원작 계열 <金英哲傳>의 발견과 그 자료적 가치

        그동안 학계에 알려진 <金英哲傳> 이본으로는 洪世泰(1653~1725)의 『柳下集』에 수록된 것과 단국대 나손문고 소장본(국문본) 등 2종이 있다. 그리고 『유하집』에 이 작품이 수록돼 있다 보니 자연히 그 작자를 홍세태로 간주해 왔다. 그러나 『유하집』에 전하는 『讓金英哲遺事』라는 시의 幷序로 미루어, 그 문집에 실린 <김영철전>은 홍세태에 순수 창작이 아니라 기존의 「김영철유사」라는 것을 토대로 기술했을 가능성이 높았던 것이 사실이다. 그런 가운데 최근 우리는 『유하집』 수록본과 크게 다른 한문필사본 한종을 새롭게 발견하였다. 이 필사본은 『유하집』 수록본보다 무려 5배나 긴 분량으로 이본 대조 결과 <김영철전> 원작 계열의 한 이본이었다. 『유하집』 수록본은 어떤 선행 이본을 대폭 축약한 것으로, 홍세태가 언급한 그 「김영철유사」라는 자료는 이 필사본과 거의 동일한 양태의 <김영철전>을 가리키는 것으로 보인다. 또한 일명 '김철전'이라는 국문본도 이 필사본과 거의 동일한 어떤 한문본을 번역한 것이었다. 따라서 이 원작 계열 필사본은 연구 가치가 대단히 높다. 이제 우리는 이를 새로운 연구 텍스트로 삼아야 할 것이다. KimYoungChulJeon(金英哲傳) is an unidentified novel written in Chinese language created around the late 17th century. This novel portrays the tragedy of the war that took place in East Asia at the time. The comprehensive scope of this novel includes the general joys and sorrows of the populace of the time that encountered the East Asian war as well as a commoner Kim Young-Chul's life story and his family's tragic life. Until very recently, KimYoungChulJeon has known to be written by Hong Se-Tae(洪世泰: 1653~1725). It is because the novel is collected in Hong Se-Tae's 『YuHaJib(柳下集)』. But another version of KimYoungChulJeon that is quite different from the one collected in 『YuHaJib』 has recently been discovered. This newly found version contains 19,000 words, five times longer that the one found in 『YuHaJib』 that barely contains 3,800 words. This thesis investigates the textual value of the recently discovered version in comparison with the previously known versions. The results of the study can be summarized as follows: First, the recently discovered version is a version of the original series of KimYoungChulJeon. The one collected in 『YuHaJib』 is nothing more than the abridged version of a preceded unidentified version that closely resembles this version of the original series. Second the so-called KimChulJeon(김철전) written in Korean is the translated version from a version written in Chinese that closely resembles this version of the original series. Third, the newly discovered version of the original series contains the superb literary work that you can experience from the one collected in 『YuHaJib』. Therefore, its value for study is priceless. Both versions stem from similar frames of narratives, but when it comes to details, the most vital component for the genre of novel, the difference is immense. Now that the original KimYoungChulJeon has been finally discovered, we should treat it as the valuable text for the further study.
