      • A 21 cm SPECTRAL AND CONTINUUM STUDY OF IC 443 USING THE VERY LARGE ARRAY AND THE ARECIBO TELESCOPE

        <P>We report 21 cm spectral-line and continuum observations of the Galactic supernova remnant IC 443 using the Very Large Array (VLA) and the Arecibo telescope. By combining the VLA and Arecibo data, both covering the full extent of IC 443, we have achieved an unprecedented combination of sensitivity and angular resolution, over the continuous range of angular scales from ~40'' to ~1°. Our new radio observations not only reveal previously unknown features of IC 443 but also show the details of the remnant more clearly. The radio morphology of IC 443 consists of two nearly concentric shells. Our 21 cm radio continuum data show that the two shells have distinctly different radial intensity distributions. This morphology supports the scenario whereby the western shell is a breakout portion of the remnant into a rarefied medium. We have developed a dynamical model accounting for the breakout, which provides an estimate for the remnant age of ~2 × 10<SUP>4</SUP> yr. The southeastern boundary of the remnant shows interesting features, seen in our observations for the first time: a faint radio continuum halo and numerous 'spurs.' These features are mainly found in the region where IC 443 overlaps with another remnant, G189.6+3.3. These features most likely originate from the interactions of IC 443 with the surrounding medium. The H <SPAN CLASS='sml'>I</SPAN> emission associated with IC 443 appears over the velocity range between −100 km s<SUP>−1</SUP> and 50 km s<SUP>−1</SUP>. The strongest absorption is seen around v<SUB>LSR</SUB> ~ −5 km s<SUP>−1</SUP>, which corresponds to the systemic velocity of IC 443. We identify a broad, extended lane of H <SPAN CLASS='sml'>I</SPAN> gas near the systemic velocity as preshock gas in the southern part of the remnant. Most of the shocked H <SPAN CLASS='sml'>I</SPAN> gas is located along the southern supernova remnant (SNR) boundary and is blueshifted. We derive an accurate mass of the shocked H <SPAN CLASS='sml'>I</SPAN> gas using template HCO<SUP>+</SUP> (1-0) spectra, which is 493 ± 56 M<SUB>☉</SUB>. Our high-resolution H <SPAN CLASS='sml'>I</SPAN> data enable us to resolve the shocked H <SPAN CLASS='sml'>I</SPAN> in the northeastern region into a few filamentary structures, which are well correlated with radiative filaments, in both position and velocity. This represents the first unambiguous detection of the recombined H <SPAN CLASS='sml'>I</SPAN> in an atomic shock. The characteristics of the filaments are not consistent with a clumpy shock model where the radiative signature is from dense clumps. Instead we propose that the shock has been propagating through a uniform medium of n<SUB>H</SUB> ~ 10 cm<SUP>−3</SUP>.</P>

        Band gap tunable and improved microstructure characteristics of Cu2ZnSn(S1-x,Sex)4 thin films by annealing under atmosphere containing S and Se

        Cu2ZnSn(SxS1-x)4 (CZTSSe) thin films were prepared by annealing a stacked precursor prepared on Mo coated glass substrates by the sputtering technique. The stacked precursor thin films were prepared from Cu, SnS2, and ZnS targets at room temperature with stacking orders of Cu/SnS2/ZnS. The stacked precursor thin films were annealed using a tubular two zone furnace system under a mixed N2 (95%) þ H2S (5%) þ Se vaporization atmosphere at 580 ℃ for 2 h. The effects of different Se vaporization temperature from 250 C to 500 ℃ on the structural, morphological, chemical, and optical properties of the CZTSSe thin films were investigated. X-ray diffraction patterns, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed that the annealed thin films had a single kesterite crystal structure without a secondary phase. The 2q angle position for the peaks from the (112) plane in the annealed thin films decreased with increasing Se vaporization temperature. Energy dispersive X-ray results showed that the presence of Se in annealed thin films increased from 0 at% to 42.7 at% with increasing Se vaporization temperatures. UVeVIS spectroscopy results showed that the absorption coefficient of all the annealed thin films was over 104 cm-1 and that the optical band gap energy decreased from 1.5 eV to 1.05 eV with increasing Se vaporization temperature.

      • Eicosanoid 유도체가 흰쥐 혈압 변화에 미치는 영향

        Arachidonic acid (AA, C20:4, w-6) and eicosapentanoic acid (EPA,C20:5, w-3), which are polyunsaturated fatty acids forming eicosanoids, were tested for their effects on blood pressure in Wistar rats and SHR. AA is the most important precursor for the biosynthesis of eicosanoids which include the prostaglandins, prostacyclin (PGI_2), thromboxane A_2 (TXA_2) and the leukotriens. TXA_2 is a potent vasoconstrictor and a powerful inducer of platelet aggregation causing myocardial infarction and hypertention. In contrast, PGI_2 induces vasodilation and inhibits platelet aggregation. In this study, AA markedly increased blood pressure, but its effect was antagonized by both EPA a structural analog of AA, and dazmegrel, a TX synthetase inhibitor. Also, AA enhanced the antihypertensive effects of hydralazine and captopril, and EPA reduced TXA_2 production. These results indicate that the hypotensive effects of EPA might be closely related to the decrease in TXA_2 biosynthesis due to competitive inhibition by structural similarity of the EPA to the AA, the precursor of TXA_2.

        함티탄자철광의 제련에 관한 연구 : 선철과 티탄광재의 제조 및 티탄광재의 염화반응성에 대하여

        소연평도산 함티탄자철광으로 부터 선철 및 티탄광재의 제조성에 대한 기초조사가 되었다. 65 mesh 이하의 광석에 대하여 Na₂O 8.7%에 해당하는 sodium 용제(Na₂CO₃나 NaOH) 및 탄소 15%를 사용하여 1,530℃∼1,560℃에서 용해시킴으로서 약 Fe 95%의 선철과 TiO₂56% 이상의 티탄광재를 생산할 수 있다. 이 티탄광재는 산처리에 의하여 용이하게 1% 미만의 철분을 포함하는 TiO₂77% 이상의 고티탄광재를 제조할 수 있다. 고티탄광재는 또한 염화반응성이 우수하여 탄소 20%, 700℃에서 60분이내에 93%의 TiO₂를 TiCl₄로 전환시킬 수 있고 반응속도는 함티탄자철광이나 티탄철광보다 높다. The amenability of titaniferous magnetite from Soyonpyong-do to iron and titania slag was determined in a laboratory scale. The effects of grain size of the ore, amounts of sodium flux and carbon, and temperature on the smelting were studied. An attempt was also made to upgrade the titanic slag by leaching with sulfuric acid solution. Chlorination behaviours of titanic slag, titaniferous magnetite, and ilmenite were respectively investigated by a batch-boat technique. Optimum conditions for chlorination of titanic slag were compaired with those of other two titanium bearing substances.

        We studied the effect of eicosanoids on the content of energy metabolites and the intrasynaptosomal Ca^++ (〔Ca^++〕_1) concentration in cerebral ischemic rats. An ischemic model was made by bilateral carotid artery ligation (BCAL) and by incubation of synaptosomes under aglycemic and N_2 gas bubbling condition. The content of ATP, creatine phosphate and glucose decreased at 15 minutes after BCAL while that of lactate increased in male Wistar rats. Oral administration of EPA(100 ㎎/㎖/㎏/day) or DHA(16 ㎎/㎖/㎏/day) for 6 weeks improved both the decreases and the increase of the cerebral energy metabolites. In addition, the increase of 〔Ca^++〕_1 under BACL was suppressed by EPA or DHA treatment. When the both Wistar rats and SHR were administered orally with EPA or DHA for 6 weeks, the effect on the increase of 〔Ca^++〕_1 under ischemia by N_2 gas bubbling were protected. From these results, it may be that EPA or DHA treatment were greatly contributed to preservation of ischemic cerebral energy metabolism and Ca^++ concentration.

        While driving, the manual use of handset is heavily restricted because of the interference with the primary driving task. An alternative is the use of speech interfaces. The current study aims to provide a guideline for implementing handset functions as speech interfaces. To do so, the existing handsets in the market were surveyed and their functions were identified. Through an analysis based on subjective ratings on the Kano’s model and frequency of the function use, the most essential functions were identified.

      • Voxel-Based Dosimetry of Iron Oxide Nanoparticle-Conjugated <sup>177</sup>Lu-Labeled Folic Acid Using SPECT/CT Imaging of Mice

        <P>Several radiolabeled folic acid conjugates have been developed for targeted imaging and therapy. However, the therapeutic concept with radiolabeled folate conjugates has not yet been applied to clinical applications owing to the high renal absorbed dose. The effectiveness of targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) depends primarily on the absorbed dose rate and on the total absorbed dose delivered to the tumor and to normal tissue. Owing to various limitations associated with organ level dosimetry, voxel-based dosimetry has become essential for the assessment of a more accurate absorbed dose during TRT. In this study, we synthesized iron oxide nanoparticle (IONP)-conjugated radiolabeled folate (<SUP>177</SUP>Lu-IONP-Folate) and performed voxel-based dosimetry using SPECT/CT images of normal mice through direct Geant4 application for emission tomography (GATE) Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. We also prepared <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-Folate and <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-IONPs for the comparison of absorbed doses with that of <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-IONP-Folate. In addition, we calculated the mean absorbed dose at the organ-level using the medical internal radiation dose (MIRD) schema. The radioactivities of all three radiotracers were mainly accumulated in the liver and kidneys immediately after injection. For the kidneys, the voxel-based absorbed doses obtained with <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-IONP-Folate, <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-Folate, and <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-IONPs were 1.01 ± 0.17, 2.46 ± 0.50, and 0.52 ± 0.08 Gy/MBq, respectively. The renal absorbed dose decreased significantly (∼half) when <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-IONP-Folate was used compared with when the <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-Folate only was used. The mean absorbed dose values obtained at organ-level using the MIRD schema were comparable to voxel-based absorbed doses estimated with GATE MC. The voxel-based absorbed dose values obtained in this study of individualized activity show that the renal absorbed dose could be reduced to almost half with <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-IONP-Folate. Therefore, <SUP>177</SUP>Lu-IONP-Folate could be clinically applicable in the TRT of folate receptor-positive cancers in a personalized manner when using the voxel-based dosimetry method.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
