      • Protective Effects of Hyperoside against Carbon Tetrachloride-Induced Liver Damage in Mice

        <P>In this study, the hepatoprotective effects of hyperoside (<B>1</B>), a flavonoid glycoside isolated from <I>Artemisia capillaris</I>, have been examined against carbon tetrachloride (CCl<SUB>4</SUB>)-induced liver injury. Mice were treated intraperitoneally with vehicle or <B>1</B> (50, 100, and 200 mg·kg<SUP>−1</SUP>) 30 min before and 2 h after CCl<SUB>4</SUB> (20 μL·kg<SUP>−1</SUP>) injection. Levels of serum aminotransferases were increased 24 h after CCl<SUB>4</SUB> injection, and these increases were attenuated by <B>1</B>. Histological analysis showed that <B>1</B> prevented portal inflammation, centrizonal necrosis, and Kupffer cell hyperplasia. Lipid peroxidation was increased and hepatic glutathione content was decreased significantly after CCl<SUB>4</SUB> treatment, and these changes were reduced by administration of <B>1</B>. Protein and mRNA expression of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and nuclear protein expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) significantly increased after CCl<SUB>4</SUB> injection. Compound <B>1</B> suppressed TNF-α, iNOS, and COX-2 protein and mRNA expression and augmented HO-1 protein and mRNA expression and Nrf2 nuclear protein expression. These results suggest that <B>1</B> has protective effects against CCl<SUB>4</SUB>-induced acute liver injury, and this protection is likely due to enhancement of the antioxidative defense system and suppression of the inflammatory response.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jnprdf/2011/jnprdf.2011.74.issue-5/np200001x/production/images/medium/np-2011-00001x_0006.gif'></P>

      • 화훼작물의 여름철 플러그묘 생산에 있어 급격한 엽온저하 쇼크를 이용한 도장억제 가능성 검토

        One of the most important problem during summer plug plant production is the succulent growth. The possibility of controlling height of plug seedlings by temperature drop shock(TDS) was investigated in Pharbitis, Impatiens and Callistephus. The most sensitive plant to TDS was Pharbitis. By 2℃ water irrigation, height of Pharbitis decreased by 33%. Impatiens showed 16% reduction in height by 2℃ water irrigation. Callistephus showed no reduction in height by any treamtnet. In all plants, stem diameter increased about 10% by the cold water irrigation. Leaf injury such as leaf spot of Saintpaulia was not observed. These results suggested that TDS could be used for controlling height of summer plug seedlings such Pharbitis which is sensitive to TDS.

      • 지연유합과 불유합에서 저신호 강도 초음파의 유용성

        목 적 : 저 신호 강도 초음파를 이용한 지연유합과 불유합의 치료에 대한 유용성을 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 2001년 7월부터 2002년 5월까지 본원에 내원한 지연유합 7례와 불유합 8례를 대상으로 5개월간 저 신호 강도 초음파로 치료하여 5개월후 골유합 여부를 알아 보았다. 결 과 : 총 15례 중 대퇴골 간부 2례, 경골 간부 1례, 상완골 간부 1례, 요골 1례의 지연유합에서 골유합을 얻었고 대퇴골 간부 불유합 3례에서 유합을 얻었다. 지연주합은 71%의 유합율을, 불유합은 37.5%의 유합율을 보였다. 결 론 : 저 신호 강도 초음파는 골유합을 촉진 시킬 수 있으며 지연유합에서 시도해 볼 만 하나 불유합 치료를 위해서는 보다 많은 연구가 필요 하다. Purpose : To evaluation of usefulness of low-intensity ultrasound for nonunion and delayed union. Materials and Methods : For 5 months, we treated 7 delayed union and 8 nonunion using low-intensity ultrasound. After 5 months, in checked X-ray AP and Lateral view, when cortical bridge formation was done, we through union. Results : In 7 delayed union, 5 cases-2 femur, tibia, humerus, radius were healed. In 8 nonunion, 3 femur nonunion were healed. Union rate was 71% in delayed union 37.5% in nonunion. Conclusion : we thought that the low-intensity ultrasound has capacity of induction of union and was considered as the method of treatment for delayed union.

        Chronic eosinophilic pneumonia(CEP) is a rare disease of unknown etiology characterized by chronic infiltration of the lung with eosinophils. It presents with profound systemic symptoms comprising fever, night sweats, weight loss, dyspnea and blood eosinophilia with nonsegmental air-space consolidation confined to the outer third of the lung, the "photographic negative of pulmonary edema". Histopathologic features of chronic eosinophilic pneumonia are intraalveolar and interstitial infiltrations with eosinophils, histiocytes, giant cells, scattered lymphocytes and plasma cells. Glucocorticoid therapy cause prompt resolution of symptoms as well as disappearans of blood eosinophils, elevated serum Ig E levels and the roentgenographic lesions. Infrequent radiographic findings include nodular infiltrates, consolidations, cavitations, atelectasis and pleural effusions. Deaths from CEP although rare, have been reported, but the majorities of CEP have benign courses and do not need a therapy with ventilator. We report a case of chronic eosinophilic pneumonia, which had a sudden course associated with diffuse pneumonic consolidations on the both lung and bilateral pleural effusion.

        소아 대퇴골 간부 골절에 대한 유연 골수정 삽입술

        목적: 4세부터 11세 사이의 소아 대퇴골 간부 골절을 유연 골수정 삽입술로 치료한 결과를 후향적으로 분석하여 이 치료 방법의 장점과 단점 등을 논하고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 최근 3년간 치험한 27명 28례를 1년 이상 추시하였으며, 임상 기록과 방사선 사진을 분석하여, 슬관절 운동 회복, 체중 부하 가능 시점, 골절 유합 시점, 입원 및 재활 치료 기간, 각 변형과 하지 부동 등 후유증과 기타 합병증 여부를 평가하였다. 결과: 슬관절 운동은 전례가 술후 2~4주 사이에 회복되었다. 부분 체중 부하는 보조기 착용상태에서 술후 2~4주에 대부분 가능하였으며, 보조기 없이 전체중 부하가 가능하고 방사선 사진상 견고한 골 유합이 확인된 시점은 수술 후 6~12주 (평균 8.4주)였다. 최종 추시 사진상 5도 이상의 각 변형은 5례 (18%)에서 있었으며, 다리 길이가 1㎝ 이상 차이를 보여 수술 또는 신발로 후속 교정이 필요하였던 경우는 2례 (5%)였다. 지연 유합, 불유합, 재골절 등의 합병증이 없었으나, 고정 실패로 인한 재수술 (1례)과 금속정 도입부의 심부 연부 조직 감염 (1례)이 있었다. 결론: 4세부터 11세 사이의 소아 대퇴골 간부 골절의 치료에서 유연 골수성 삽입술은 석고 고정 등 비수술적 치료에 비하여 조기 슬관절 운동과 체중 부하가 가능하고, 재활 치료 기간이 짧으며 각 변형과 다리 길이 차이 등 부정유합의 빈도가 적은 장점이 있으며, 외고정 등 다른 수술적 치료에 비하여 지연 유합, 불유합, 핀 감염, 재골절 등의 합병증이 거의 없는 등 장점이 뚜렷하였다. Purpose: We report a treatment result and the pros-cons of the flexible intramedullary nailing for femoral shaft fractures in children between the age of 4 and 11 years. Materials and Methods: During the recent three years, 28 femoral shaft fractures in 27 consecutive pediatric patients were treated with flexible intramedullary nailing. We restrospectively reviewed their clinical and radiological records, follow-up for at least one year, in respects to the recovery of knee joint motion; time of fracture union; period of admission and rehabilitation; angular deformity and leg length discrepancy; and other complications. Result: In all children, the knee joint motion was rapidly recovered to near normal range within 2~4 weeks. Partial weight bearing with wearing functional brace was possible within 2~4 weeks, while full weight bearing without brace was started until 6~12 (average 8.4) weeks after the nailing. In the last follow-up radiograghs, five cases (18%) showed 무 angular deformity in any direction of more than 5 degrees. Two children represented leg length discrepancy of more than 1㎝. Other complications were one fixation failure, and one deep soft tissue infection at the entry point of the nail. Conclusion: We strongly recommend the flexible intramedullary nailing in this injury because the fixation is strong enough to permit early knee motion and weight bearing in orthosis, the fracture healing was so rapid without any case of delayed or nonunion, and the incidences of residual angular deformity and leg length discrepancy were significantly less than the nonoperative treatment.

      • 오옥신의 종류 및 농도가 가이즈까 향나무의 삽목 발근에 미치는 영향

        Effects of auxin and Rootone on the rooting of Juniperus chinensis var. Kaizuka cutting were investigated to improve propagation efficiency. When Rootone treated, rooting was 100% compared with the control, 33%. IBA 200ppm 1h and NAA 100ppm 12h improved evidently rooting, 93% and 90%, respectively. Root fresh weight increased up to 131mg by Rootone. NAA 200ppm 12h, NAA 500ppm 1h, and IBA 200ppm 1h were also very effective to root fresh weight more than 110mg. Shoot growth(height, fresh weight and dry weight) did not increase largely, but increased a little. Dipping into high concentration auxin solution for 1min increased rooting rate and root fresh weight, but was less effective than low concentration treatment. Shoot growth did not increase largely, but increased a little. These results indicate that Rootone and IBA 200ppm 1h are most effective for improvement of rooting in Juniperus chinensis var. Kaizuka cutting.

      • 延伸 및 熱處理한 Nylon6 纖維의 二重 熔融現象에 對한 實驗的 考察

        The thermal analysis of nylon 6 drawn and heat-treated at different draw ratios and temperatures has been carried out using a differential thermal calorimeter(DSC). The origin of double melting peaks in DSC thermogram has been controversial. If double melting peaks were due to the same species, i.e. the recrystallization process, it is expected that the heat of fusion of lower melting peak increases with the drawing temperature. The opposite, in fact, is observed, i.e., higher drawing temperature results in more of the higher melting peak. A single melting peak of the remelting thermograms shows that double melting peaks in drawn nylon 6 are not caused by the original crystal melting and its recrystallization in DSC. It is concluded that the material which shows the higher melting peak of double melting peaks may be morphologically different from that of the lower melting peak.
