        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to learn about problem-gambling level, depression and stress among female college students. Method: In this cross-sectional design study, a convenient sample of 325 female college students were recruited between September and October, 2014. Measurement used for this study were the CPGI(Canadian Problem Gambling Index), the CES-D(Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale), and the Life stress scale for college students. Data were statistically analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and chi-square test. Result: About 58.5 percent of the participants had experience of gambling; lottery was the most frequently used gambling among participants. 36 participants(11.1%) were problem gamblers. Relationship of smoking status to problem gambler group was statistically significant. There were statistically significant relationships among problem-gambling level(Non-problem, Low-risk, Moderate-risk, High-risk), depression and stress. The problem gambler group had significantly higher trait stress scores compared to the normal group. Conclusion: Problem gambling was a risk factor for both depression and stress among female college students. The proposals of this study are as follows; first, in depth-research are required with more expanded sampling as sample of this study was conveniently gathered, it is hard to generalize the result. Second, a problem gambling prevention program is recommended for low-risk problem gamblers as they have risk to become problem gambler later. Third, nursing interventions for problem gamblers should be investigated with regard to depression and stress level.

        Atherogenic changes in low-density lipoprotein particle profiles were not observed in non-obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome

        <P><B>STUDY QUESTION</B></P><P>Is a preponderance of small dense low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) observed in non-obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)?</P><P><B>SUMMARY ANSWER</B></P><P>Non-obese Korean women with PCOS have no quantitative or qualitative changes in LDL-C profiles.</P><P><B>WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY</B></P><P>Small dense LDL particles (sd-LDL) are more atherogenic than large buoyant ones and are strongly associated with coronary artery disease independent of other risk factors. Many investigators have found an increased proportion of atherogenic sd-LDL or a decreased mean LDL particle size in women with PCOS, but all of these studies have been based primarily on obese or overweight women with PCOS.</P><P><B>STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION</B></P><P>This was a case–control study evaluating complete lipid and lipoprotein profiles in 64 PCOS patients and 64 age- and BMI-matched controls. All women with PCOS in our study population were not obese. To determine the differences in the LDL particle profiles between PCOS phenotypes, the patients with PCOS were divided into two subgroups according to the presence of clinical or biochemical hyperandrogenism.</P><P><B>PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS</B></P><P>Using the Rotterdam criteria, we recruited 64 women (18–40 years) with PCOS who were attending a tertiary university hospital. A total of 64 premenopausal control women were matched with patients based on exact age and BMI (±1.0 kg/m<SUP>2</SUP>). All the participants fell within the non-obese range of the BMI (<25 kg/m<SUP>2</SUP>) according to the definition of obesity for Asians. The LDL subfraction was analyzed by 3% polyacrylamide gel tube electrophoresis. Seven LDL subclasses were quantified and LDL subclasses 3–7 were small LDL subfractions. LDL subfraction scores were calculated based on the following weighted scoring system developed by the manufacturer: scores of <5.5 were categorized as phenotype A (large, buoyant LDLs), and those >5.5 were categorized as non-A phenotype (sd-LDLs). The system also determined the mean LDL particle size diameter.</P><P><B>MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE</B></P><P>There were no differences in the absolute level of LDL-C, mean LDL diameter or percentage of atherogenic sd-LDLs between PCOS patients and controls or between hyperandrogenic and non-hyperandrogenic PCOS subgroups. Also, none of the subjects showed a non-A LDL phenotype. The most notable finding of our study was the difference in the lipoprotein (a) levels and prevalence of its elevation in PCOS patients versus controls (<I>P</I> = 0.002 and <I>P</I> = 0.004, respectively), and between PCOS subgroups (<I>P</I> = 0.030 and <I>P</I> = 0.047, respectively).</P><P><B>LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION</B></P><P>Inclusion of only non-obese subjects, small sample size and lack of information on other potential confounding factors, such as differences in diet and/or exercise patterns.</P><P><B>WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS</B></P><P>Although our findings suggest that non-obese women with PCOS have no significant quantitative or qualitative changes in LDL-C profile, data on obese Korean women with PCOS could offer complementary findings about the possible relationship between the magnitude of obesity and LDL phenotype. Further investigations are needed to determine whether a change in lipoprotein (a) in non-obese women with PCOS is also found in other ethnic groups.</P><P><B>STUDY FUNDING/COMPETING INTEREST(S)</B></P><P>No conflict of interest exists.       • 15-Deoxy-Δ<sup>12,14</sup>-prostaglandin J<sub>2</sub> prevents oxidative injury by upregulating the expression of aldose reductase in vascular smooth muscle cells

        <P>The omega-6 fatty acid derivative 15-Deoxy-Δ<SUP>12,14</SUP>-prostaglandin J<SUB>2</SUB> (15d-PGJ<SUB>2</SUB>) is believed to play a role in cellular protection against oxidative stress in diverse cell systems. However, the cellular mechanisms by which protection is afforded by 15d-PGJ<SUB>2</SUB> are not fully elucidated in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). In this study, we report the finding that 15d-PGJ<SUB>2</SUB> elicited a time and concentration- dependent increase in aldose reductase (AR) expression. This induction was independent of the activation of peroxisome proliferator- activated receptor γ. Inhibition of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) significantly suppressed the increase in expression and promoter activity of AR induced by 15d-PGJ<SUB>2</SUB>. Luciferase reporter assays demonstrated that 15d-PGJ<SUB>2</SUB> targets the multiple stress response regions comprising the antioxidant response element in the promoter of the AR gene. 15d-PGJ<SUB>2</SUB>-mediated induction of AR promoter activity was potentiated in the presence of nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), but not in cells expressing dominant negative Nrf2. Cells treated with 15d-PGJ<SUB>2</SUB> were resistant to oxidant-induced apoptotic cell death by inhibiting production of reactive oxygen species. These effects were significantly attenuated in the presence of an AR inhibitor or small interfering RNA against AR, indicating that AR plays a protective role against oxidative injury. Taken together, these findings demonstrate that activation of PI3K by 15d-PGJ<SUB>2</SUB> increases the expression of AR through Nrf2, and increased AR activity may function as an important cellular response against oxidative injury.</P>

        HVPE 방법에 의해 r-plane 사파이어 기판 위의 선택 성장된 GaN/AlGaN 이종 접합구조의 특성

        본 논문에서는 혼합소스(mixed-source) HVPE(hydride vapor phase epitaxy)방법으로 선택성장(SAC: selective area growth) GaN/AlGaN 이종접합구조의 발광다이오드를 r-plane 사파이어 기판 위에 제작하였다. SAG-GaN/AlGaN DH(double heterostructure)는 고온 GaN 버퍼층, Te 도핑된 AlGaN n-클래딩층. Gan 활성층. Mg 도핑된 AlGaN p-클래딩층. Mg 도핑된 GaN p-캡층으로 구성되어있다. GaN/AlGaN 이종접합구조의 발광다이오드의 특성을 알아보기 위해 SEM을 통한 구조적 분석과 전류-전압 측정(I-V: current-voltage measurement), 전류-광출력(EL: electroluminescence) 측정을 통하여 전기적, 광학적 특성을 평가하였다. In this paper, a selective area growth (SAG) of a GaN/AlGaN double heterostructure (DH) has been performed on r-plane sapphire substrate by using the mixed-source hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) with multi-sliding boat system. The SAG-GaN/AlGaN DH consists of GaN buffer layer, Te-doped AlGaN n-cladding layer, GaN active layer, Mg-doped AlGaN p-cladding layer, and Mg-doped GaN p-capping layer. The electroluminescence (EL) characteristics show an emission peak of wavelength, 439 nm with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of approximately 0.64 eV at 20 mA. The I-V measurements show that the turn-on voltage of the SAG-GaN/AlGaN DH is 3.4 V at room temperature. We found that the mixed-source HVPE method with a multi-sliding boat system was one of promising growth methods for III-Nitride LEDs.

        In this paper, a method for constructing and verifying datasets used in deep learning technology is proposed to prevent safety accidents in the construction environment. The virtual construction simulator was developed to implement various construction environments, and custom data in the virtual environment was set to diversify the location and parameters of the sensors. A database for real-time deep learning models was built and detected at the pixel level to detect uneven roads and objects in the construction site. When deep learning-based detection is performed, it may interfere with the accurate judgment due to occlusion areas hidden by other objects. Therefore, the database for developing the occlusion area detection algorithm in virtual environments was constructed and verified.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between satisfaction toward appearance and the level of mental health among female middle school students. Methods: The total study sample was 432 consisting of 3rd year female students who attended co-educational or girls’ middle schools in Korea. Data were collected from August 8 to August 16, 2012. Statistical analyses were conducted using t-test and Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient with SPSS18.0Windows software. Results: There was correlation between appearance satisfaction and mental health, especially with personal sensitivity (r= -.447, p= .000) and depression (r= -.350, p= .000). The level of mental health significantly differed according to type of school (t= -2.668, p= .008). However, appearance satisfaction did not differ according to type of school. Conclusion: The results of this study implied the importance of appropriate education and nursing intervention which would improve satisfaction toward the appearance of female middle school students.

      • Plasma 산화 절연층을 갖는 나노 구조 자기터널 접합소자

        반강자성체 IrMn을 사용하고 Al을 rf 플라즈마 산화시켜서 Al2O3을 절연층으로 사용한 spin-valve형 십자형 터널링 접합구조 Substrate/Ta(50Å)/Cu(100Å)/Ta(50Å)/NiFe(20Å)/Cu(50Å)/IrMn(100Å)/CoFe(25Å)/Al(15Å)-O2/CoFe(25Å)/NiFe(1000Å)/Ta(50Å)을 제작하였다. 이 터널접합의 절연층(Al2O3)의 형성조건과 각 층의 두께와 전력에 대한 증착율에 변화를 주어 200℃에서 1시간 열처리한 접합면적이 900×900 ㎛2인 시료에 대하여 극대 자기터널비 34.3%와 교환결합자기장 200 Oe를 얻었다. Corning glass 7059와 Si(100)기관의 종류에 따른 결과를 비교하였다. 하부자성층의 길이방향으로 자장 1050 Oe을 걸어주고 열처리한 결과 터널접합의 저항은 다소 감소하고 TMR비는 열처리 온도에 따라 증가하여 200℃에서 극대값을 얻었다. 자성층의 폭의 변화에 따른 접합면적 의존성 조사에서 접합면적이 증가할수록 접합저항은 감소하고 TMR비는 증가한다. Spin tunneling junctions of cross-shape structure with substrate/Ta(50Å)/Cu(100Å)/Ta(50Å)/NiFe(20Å)/Cu(50Å)/IrMn(100Å)/CoFe(25Å)/Al(15Å)-O2/CoFe(25Å)/NiFe(1000Å)/Ta(50Å) were fabricated using magnetron sputtering and shadow masks. Fabrication conditions of insulating layer (Al2O3) and thickness and sputtering power of each film layer were varied, and maximum magnetoresistance ratio of 34.3% and exchange coupling field of 200 Oe for the MTJ with junction area of 900×900 ㎛2 were obtained by annealing at 200℃ for 1 hour in magnetic field 1050 Oe, parallel to the bottom elctrode. Magnetoresistive characteristic variations in the two types of substrates (coming glass 7059 and Si(100)) were compared. With increasing the active area of junction the TMR ratio increases while electrical resistance decreases.
