      • 급성 A형 간염에 병발한 급성신부전 2 례

        Hepatitis A is a mild, self-limiting disease of the liver, critical complications of which, such as acute kidney injury, are rare. Two cases of patients with acute hepatitis A who had an acute renal failure complication are reported herein. The first case is that of a 30-year-old man who showed up at the author’s hospital complaining of fever and myalgia. His laboratory tests upon his admission showed 9,520 lU/L of aspartate transaminase, 5,600 lU/L of alanine transaminase, 31.9 mg/dL of blood urea nitrogen, and 5.5 mg/dL of creatinine, and he was positive for the Anti-HAV IgM antibody. Upon his admission, supportive treatment was started, which included fluid therapy. The laboratory tests on the next day showed 53 mg/dL of blood urea nitrogen, 9.9 mg/dL of creatinine, and lower urine output per day. Renal replacement therapy was performed only once. A renal biopsy was performed and the result was Acute Tubular Necrosis (ATN). The patient recovered from acute renal failure without sequela. In the second case, a 35-year-old man complained of fever and abdominal pain. His laboratory tests upon his admission showed 8,570 lU/L of aspartate transaminase, 4,510 lU/L of alanine transaminase, 16 mg/dL of blood urea nitrogen, and 1.19 mg/dL of creatinine, and he was positive for the Anti-HAV IgM antibody. He experienced acute renal failure and recovered after two-time renal replacement therapy. The result of the renal biopsy was Acute Tubular Necrosis and C1q nephropathy.

        ICR Mouse의 아급성 알코올 대사에 보이차(Camelia sinensis L) 추출물이 미치는 효과

        An eight-week-old male ICR mouse, which was induced with acute alcohol and sub-acute alcohol poisoning condition, was administered with bohee tea(Camelia sinensis L) extract. Under the inducement of the sub-acute alcohol poisoning condition, no considerable differences could be found in the blood alcohol concentration of the positive control group and the bohee tea group(p<0.05). The GOT activity of the three groups: bohee tea, Drink, and Alcodex decreased than that of the normal control group(9.064±4.687 unit)(p<0.05). In addition, the blood GOT activity of the dark green tea group dropped by 81.44% compared with that of the positive control group. On the other hand, the blood GTP activity of the bohee tea group decreased by 5.2% as opposed to that of the positive control and the Drink that decreased by 7.5% as opposed to that of the positive control. The hepatic ADH activity of the bohee tea increased by 22.7%, as opposed to that of the positive control group. The Drink, however, had an increase rate of 33.6%. In the case of the hepatic ALDH activity of the liver, no significant differences were ever recorded among all groups, except for the positive control group. Due to an intake of bohee tea extract, the hepatic ALDH activity decreased by 77.27% which could not be seen in the positive control group. However, Drink and Alcodex had a decrease could be seen(p<0.05).

        보이차(Camelia sinensis L) 추출물이 ICR Mouse의 급성 알코올 대사에 미치는 효과

        An eight-week-old male ICR mouse, which was induced with acute alcohol and sub-acute alcohol poisoning condition, was administered with bohee tea(Camelia sinensis L) extract. After oral administration of bohee tea and inducement of acute alcohol poisoning condition, the mouses blood alcohol concentration became as low as that of the normal control group. Its decrease rate was 87.26%, in comparison with that of the positive control group. Moreover, its blood GOT activity decreased with a rate of 93.1% until it reached the normal level, as opposed to that of the positive control group. In addition, the GOT activity, despite rising after the alcohol intake, decreased(p<0.05) significantly after administration of each sample and reached the normal level. The bohee tea group experienced a significant decrease in the GOT activity, compared with the Alcodex group and the Drink group. The GPT activity of the Alcodex group decreased by 11% compared with that of the positive control group. The GTP activity of the bohee tea group decreased by 8.2%, while that of the Drink group decreased by 6.5%(p<0.05). However, there were no significant differences between the results in the control group and those of the test group. The bohee tea group's hepatic ADH activity increased by 22.7% compared with that of the positive control group. On the other hand, the hepatic ADH activity of the Drink group increased by 33.6% while that of the Alcodex group increased by 20.4%. On the contrary, the bohee tea extract, the hepatic ALDH did not manifest any significant difference as compared with the normal control group. However, its decrease rate was about 16.67% as compared with that of the positive control group. The Drink group, meanwhile, obtained a decrease rate of about 21.59%.

      • 암석 슬러지를 이용한 건자재 개발

        본 연구는 1993년부터 춘천시 신동면 형돌리 산 62번지 내에서 흑운모 화강암 및 편마암 암석을 원자재로 사용하여 건설기초재료인 쇄설골재 및 인공모래를 생산하는 업체로부터 제품 생산 후 발생하는 토양 스러치 케익이 연간 약 10만 입방정도 발생한다는 사실에 기초하여 석산에서 채취된 페잔토(석분)의 화학적, 물리적, 역학적 특성을 조사하여 석분의 이용 가능성을 확인하기 위한 실험으로 단위 시멘트량을 400kg, 잔골재율을 45% 그리고 물-시멘트비를 65%로 고정하고 잔골재 중 석분을ㄹ 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% 및 60%로 치환하여 제조된 콘크리트의 기초적 성질을ㄹ 시험하였다. 그 결과 석분의 치환율이 높을 수록 공기량은 증가하고 슬럼프값이 감소하였는데 이는 미세한 입자인 석분을 잔골재의 일부로 치환함으로써 비표면적이 증가하였기 때문인 것으로 사료된다. 압축강도와 휨강도는 모두 석분의 치환율이 증가할수록 압축강도와 휨강도는 다소 감소하는 경향을 나타냈으나 큰 성능차이는 보이지 않는 다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이상의 실험을 통해 석분을 시멘트 콘크리트에 사용했을 경우 약간의 성능저하는 있지만 잔골재로의 활용이 가능하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 앞으로 건조수축, 균열, 크리이프 특성 및 내구성에 과한 연구가 더욱 심도있게 이루어져야 폐자원인 석분의 이용이 가능하리라 판단된다. This study aims to make cement concrete using crushed stone fines which are produced at Chuncheon city, Hyuldongri and find it's applications. According to the experimental results, when ratio of crushed stone fines was increased, air contents were increased and slump values were decreased. Also, the compressive strength and flexural strength were decreased when ration of crushed stone fines was increased. Although these strengths are decreased, the crushed stone fines can be used to construction materials because the decreased amounts are not so much.

      • 폴리머 시멘트 콘크리트의 동결융해 저항 특성 연구

        본 연구에서는 폐재자원인 광미를 잔골재의 일부로 사용하여 폴리머 시멘트 콘크리트를 제작하고 강도 특성 및 동결융해저항 특성을 실험적으로 구명하였다. 압축강도는 광미 혼입유물에 따라 262.5kg/㎠에서 422.9kg/㎠, 250kg/㎠에서 386.4kg/㎠로 증가하였으며, 휨강도는 44kg/㎠에서 107kg/㎠, 41kg/㎠에서 104kg/㎠로 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 이 결과 폴리머-시멘트비가 증가할수록 항도가 증대됨을 알 수 있으며, 광미를 사용할 경우 광미의 첨가로 내부 공극의 감소됨으로써 약간 증가된 것으로 판단된다. 폴리머 시멘트비가 0%일 경우 흡수율은 광미 무혼입의 경우 6.1%보다 광미 혼입의 경우 5.61%로 다소 낮은 값을 얻었으며, 폴리머 시멘트비가 20%일 경우에도 광미 무혼입의 경우 0.82%보다 광미 혼입의 경우 0.58%로 낮은 값을 얻을 수 있었다. 이 결과 폴리머 시멘트비가 증가할수록 흡수율이 작아졌으며, 폴리머를 혼입한 경우 흡수율이 48시간 동안 지속으로 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 폴리머 시멘트비가 5%에서 광미 무혼입의 경우 100.8%, 광미 혼입의 경우 106.6%로 가장 높은 상대 동탄성 계수를 얻어 폴리머의 혼입으로 인해 내구성이 향상되었음을 알 수 있었으며, 광미를 혼입함으로써 높은 상대 동탄성 계수를 얻을 수 있음을 알 수 있다. 폴리머 시멘트비가 5%에서 내구성 지수가 광미 무혼입의 경우 100.8%, 광미 혼입의 경우 106.6%로 크게 증가하였음을 알 수 있었고, 폴리머를 첨가한 경우에 있어서 내구성 지수가 상당히 높은 값을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. Metal-mine tailing was added as a source of fine aggregate for polymer cement concrete(MTPCC) which was investigated with respect to the properties of strength and the resistance of freezing and thawing. Strength of MTPCC was improved over olymer cement concrete(PCC). It was believed that the addition of metal-mine tailing decreased the porosity of the fine aggregates to improve strength of the polymer cement concrete. It was found that the resistance to freezing and thawing of MTPCC was improved over PCC.

        The algae content in the Nackdong river water, which is used as source of water works in Daegu city and carries a pollution load of domestic and industrial wastewater, rises in the warm season to such a level that calls for a improvement process for water treatment. A pilot plant study on the efficiency of the removal of algae by dissolved air flotation was conducted and the results are summarized as follows: 1. Algae concentration in the raw water is the highests in April, May and September below 25 NTU of raw water turbidity. In these dry months, the production of treated water decreases by the conventional water treatment process. 2. The average efficienct of algae removal could be achieved at 96% using coagulants, such as alum or PAC at dissolved air flotation. In the conventional sedimentation process, algae can be removed by only 88% and produces chlorinated organic compounds after breakpoint chlorinatioin. 3. It is required that the ideal flotation area is 7,106㎡ and the detention time is 20 min for treated water of 250,000㎡ /day.

      • Vitamin D_(3)가 RAW 세포에 감염된 Mycobacterium marinum의 증식억제에 미치는 기전 연구

        The natural resistance-associated macrophage protein 1(Nramp1) has been proposed to directly regulate bactericidal or bacteriostatic activity of the macrophage toward pathogens or participate in macrophage activation that lead to microbial elimination in the host. The relationship between Nramp1 and nitric oxide(NO) as an antimicrobial factor has not been precisely defined to date. To devise an in vitro assay for Nramp1 function, this study introduced a wild type Nramp1^(G169) cDKA transfected RAW264.7 macrophages(A8) which bear a homozygous mutant Nramp1^(D169) allele and are permissive to replication of specific intracellular parasites. RAW264.7 and A8 macrophages did not produce NO, but vitamin D_(3)-activated-Mycobacterium marinum-infected RAW264.7 and A8 macrophages pretreated with vitamin D_(3) leaded to the increase of NO production and growth inhibition of M. marinum. Inhibition of NO production by a NO inhibitor, L-NAME, abolished the above effects. The mRNA expression of iNOS in infected macrophages with costimulated vitamin D_(3) was increased. IFN-γ activated macrophages also showed the same results with vitamin D_(3) activated macrophages. These results suggest that bactericidal or bacteriostatic activity in RAW264.7 and A8 macrophages correlated with the production of NO, although NO might not be the only factor responsible for controlling M. marinum infection. The Nrampl gene is considered to be a cofactor in the controlling the replication of M. marinum infection.

        도시지역 응급센터를 내원한 약물중독 환자

        Acute drug intoxication is a important part of emergency medicine. The outcome of intoxicated patients depends upon a kind of drug, a dose of drug, the time of initial management and the knowledge of variable drugs. Our study was made on 249cases of acute drug intoxication, who visited to emergency department of Ehwa Wonams University Mokdong Hospital during 15months from June 1994 to August 1995. The patients of early 10 months period were treated in department in IM and patients of late 5 months period treated in department of EM. The results were as follows : 1) Total nember of patients was 249 which is 0.59% fo total ED patients. The male to female ratio was 1:2 (81pts : 168 pts) The age distribution showed the highest incidences in 2nd (35%) and 3rd (23%) decades. 2) The most patients (78%) were visited to ED within 4 hour after drug ingestion. 3) The most common drug which activated charcoal was indicated was sedatives and hynotics (63%) The most common drug which activated charcoal was contraindicated was strong acid-alkali (4%) 4) The total mortality of intoxicated patients was 8%. 5) The outcomes of the patients( early 10 months vs. late 5 months) : the percentage of admission was 20% vs 24%, discharge against admission was 36% vs 46% discharge was 21% vs 22%, transfer to other hospital was 22% vs 9%

      • Benzoyl peroxide의 환경에서의 초기 위해성 평가

        Benzoyl peroxide is a High Production Volume Chemical, which is produced about 1,375 tons/year in Korea as of 2001 survey. The substance is mainly used as initiators in polymerization, catalysts in hte plastics industry, bleaching agents for flour nad medication for acne vulgaris. In this study, quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships(QSAR) are used for getting adequate information on the physical-chemical properties of this chemical. And hydrolysis in water, acute toxicity to aquatic and terrestrial organisms for benzoyl peroxide were studied. The physical-chemical properties of benzoyl peroxide were estimated as followed; vapor pressure=0.00929 pa, Log K_(ow)=3.43, Henry's Law constant=3.54×10^(-6) atm-m³/mole at 25℃, the half-life of photodegradation=3days and bioconcentration factor(BCF)=92. Hydrolysis half-life of benzoyl peroxide in water was 5.2hr at pH 7 at 25℃ and according to the structure of this substance hydrolysis product was expected to benzoic acid. Benzoyl peroxide has toxic effects on the aquatic organisms. 72 hr-ErC_(50)(growth rate) for algae was 0.44mg/L, 48hr-EC_(50) for daphnia was 0.07mg/L and the 96hr-LC_(50) of acute toxicity to fish was 0.24mg/L. Acute toxicity to terrestrial organisms(earth worm) of benzoyl peroxide was low(14 day-LC_(50)=>1,000mg/kg). Although benzoyl peroxide is high toxic to aquatic organisms, the substance is not bioaccumulated because of the rapid removal by hydrolysis (half life=5.2hr at pH 7 at 25℃) and biodegradation(8.% by BOD after 21days). The toxicity observed is assumed to be due to benzoyl peroxide rather than benzoic acid, which shows much lower toxicity to aquatic organisms. One can assume that effects occur before hydrolysis takes place. From the acute toxicity value of algae, daphnia and fish, an assessment factor of 100 was used to determine the predicted no effect concentration(PNEC). The PNEC was calculated to be 0.7㎍/L based on the 48hr-EC_(50) daphnia(0.07mg/L). The substance shows high acute toxicity to aquatic organisms and some information indicates wide-dispersive use of this substance. So this substance is a candidate for further work, even if it hydrolysis rapidly and has a low bioaccumulation potential. This could lead to local concern for the aquatic environment and therefore environmental exposure assessment is recommended.
