The 18 components of C_1-C_5 hydrocarbons were well separated on a single, packed column operated around 40℃ within 20 min. The chromatographic column is 25% sebaconitrile/chromosorb P-AW(10m x 0.3㎝, 60-80 mesh). The optimum flow rate was determined by making a simple Van Deemter plot of the number of theoretical plates VS. Iinear gas velocity. The most efficient flow-rate of N_2 carrier gas was at 35㎖/min, and the mumber of theoretical plates was 5,000-10,000. The linearity of calibration curves were checked ranging ppm to % concentration of CH_4 and C_3 H_8. Peak area was used for quantitating the C_1 hydrocarbon through C_5 hydrocarbons, and relative standard deviations of 10 measures were less than 2.1%.

This study aimed to develop Materials for (The Infant Educare Program) (Dept. of Health & Welfare, 1996). Infant educare Materials were developed through following procedures: 1) analysis of reference and other educare materials 2) content analysis of (The Infant Educare Program) 3) developing materials and 4)testing and revising materials by professionals. Infant educare Materials that developed in this study were constituted of 12 kinds in 5 areas - Materials for management of daycare center, the nursery stories for infants, musical materials for infants, play things for infants, and educational materials for parents. First, materials for management of daycare center were considered various conditions whithin daycare centers and were compased of 2 kinds - diary for educare plan and diskettes for documents. Second, the nursery stories for infants were compased of materials for 3 stages-the weaning stage, the toddling stage, and the independent stage. Similarly, musical materials for infants were composed of 3 stages. And play things for infants were composed of 2 kinds - play things to be easily founded and easily making play things. Finally, educational materials for parents were composed of 2 kinds - guide book for parents education and diskettes for communication with parents. It is needed that persistent attention from professionals in developing and testing materials for infant educare. Also, further educational implications were discussed

Objectives: This study evaluated the response in Daegu, Korea to the first wave of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic according to a public health emergency response model. Methods: After an examination of the official data reported by the city of Daegu and the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as a literature review and advisory meetings, we chose a response model. Daegu’s responses were organized into 4 phases and evaluated by applying the response model. Results: In phase 1, efforts were made to block further transmission of the virus through preemptive testing of a religious group. In phase 2, efforts were concentrated on responding to mass infections in high-risk facilities. Phase 3 involved a transition from a high-intensity social distancing campaign to a citizen participation–based quarantine system. The evaluation using the response model revealed insufficient systematic preparation for a medical surge. In addition, an incorporated health-related management system and protection measures for responders were absent. Nevertheless, the city encouraged the participation of private hospitals and developed a severity classification system. Citizens also played active roles in the pandemic response by practicing social distancing. Conclusions: This study employed the response model to evaluate the early response in Daegu to the COVID-19 pandemic and revealed areas in need of improvement or maintenance. Based on the study results, creation of a systematic model is necessary to prepare for and respond to future public health emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic.

The radioactivity concentration of environmental radionuclides was analyzed for soil and sand at eight locations within a radius of 255 m centered on the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Science (DIRAMS), Korea. The average activity concentrations of 40K, 137Cs, 226Ra, and 232Th were 661.1 Bq/kg-dry, 0.9 Bq/kg-dry, 21.9 Bq/kg-dry, and 11.1 Bq/kg-dry, respectively. The activity of 40K and 137Cs was lower than the 3-year (2017-2019) average reported by the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, respectively. Due to the nature of granite-rich soil, the radioactivity of 40K was 0.6-fold higher than in other countries, while 137Cs was in the normal fluctuation range (15-30 Bq/kg-dry) of the concentration of radioactive fallout from nuclear tests. The activity of 226Ra and 232Th was lower than in Korean soils reported by the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR). The average activity concentrations of 232Th and 40K for the soil and sand samples from DIRAMS were within the range specified by UNSCEAR in 2000. The radium equivalent activity and internal and external hazard index values were below the recommended limits (1 mSv/y). These radionuclide concentration (226Ra, 232Th, 40K, and 137Cs) data can be used for regional environmental monitoring and ecological impact assessments of nuclear power plant accidents.

Scalp hair loss has increased recently in young-aged people as well as middle-aged people, and although there are no serious in health problems, scalp hair loss may significantly affect a variety of psychological and social experiences and the individual's quality of life. DREAMMO scalp lotion is composed of several plant extracts which are known to be used as oriental medicine to prevent hair loss or promote hair growth in alopecia. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of DREAMMO scalp lotion on hair growth in an alopecia model of C57BL/6 mice. Mice were divided into three experimental groups including control, DREAMMO scalp lotion and 3% Minoxidil (MXD). The test compounds were topically treated with 0.2 ㎖ per mouse per day for 4 weeks. The hair growth was determined photographically and histologically in an alopecia model of C57BL/6 mice. After 3-4 weeks, DREAMMO scalp lotion significantly increased hair growth compared to the controls in the dorsal skin of C57BL/6 mice. DREAMMO scalp lotion also promoted the elongation of hair follicles than the controls. These results suggest that DREAMMO scalp lotion has a hair growth activity and can be useful for the treatment of alopecia.

In this study, discrimination of salted cuttle fish and salted mitra squid was carried out using electronic nose based on mass spectrometer. Intensities of each fragment from salted cuttlefish by electronic nose were completely different from those of salted mitra squid. Each sample was analyzed, and discriminant function analysis (DFA) was used for the discrimination of similar products. DFA plot indicated a significant separation of each salted cuttlefish and mitra squid (r2=0.8789, F=162.13). Electronic nose based on mass spectrometer could be used as an efficient method for discrimination of Economically Motivated Authentication (EMA) foods.
