      • The Antioxidant Effect of the Rhaponticum uniflorum Extracts on the Oxidative Stress in H₂O₂ induced Human Keratinocytes

        In this study, To investigate the antioxidant activities of Rhaponticum uniflorum extracts (RUE), we assessed scavenging activities on DPPH, ABTS radicals, and reducing power. The DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities (SC50) of RUE were 96.97±1.19 μg/mL and 31.26±0.13 μ g/mL, respectively, and the reducing power significantly increased dose-dependent manner. To study the antioxidant effecters of RUE in H₂O₂ induced human keratinocytes, expression of Nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) were determined by Western blot and qRT-PCR. RUE induced the expression of HO-1, a critical target enzyme of Nrf2, in a concentration-dependent manner. The expression of HO- 1 mRNA was also induced in H₂O₂-treated HaCaT cells but no significant difference in the level of HO-1 mRNA was observed. Taken together, these results suggest that RUE may be useful as a potential ingredient for anti-aging products.

        Stain improvement in the white button mushroom ‘Seolgang’ and its varietal characteristics in Agaricus bisporus

        The button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) is one of the most widely cultivated important edible mushroom species. In the breeding of new button mushroom, ‘Seolgang’ was developed by crossing two monokaryons ‘CM020913-27’ and ‘SSU423-31’. Because of the secondarily homothallism, only a small percentage of the basidia produce 3 or 4 spores, which are mostly haploid (n) and do not fruit. Single spore cultures derived from these types of spores produce a vegetative mycelium that also contain a variable number of genetically identical nuclei per cell called monokaryon. The lack of clamp connections between monokaryon and dikaryon required a series of mycelial culture and fruiting test. After crossing, hybrids were cultivated on a small scale and on a commercial scale at a farm. For this, the spawn was made by a commercial spawn producer and the spawned compost by a commercial compost producer. Mycelial growth of ‘Seolgang’ on CDA was better at 20℃ and 25℃ when it was compared with that of ‘505 Ho’. The mature cap shape of new strain ‘Seolgang’ is oblate spheroid and the immature cap shape is round to oblate spheroid. The cap diameter was 41.2 mm on average. In comparison with white strain ‘505 Ho’, the strain had a yield that was 9% higher. It produced fruiting bodies which had a higher weight on average per fruiting body and were 19% firmer with a good shelf life. Days of fruiting body were 3-4 days later than those of ‘505 Ho’. The physical characteristics such as elasticity, chewiness, adhesiveness were better than that of ‘505 Ho’. Genetic analysis of the new strain ‘Seolgang’ showed different profiles compared to ‘505 Ho’, CM02913-27, SSU413-31, when RAPD primers A02 and O04 were used.

        The purpose of this study is to investigate physical test and allotting rate for the entrance examination in the department of physical education. The results are as follows; 1. The mean of physical fitness test is 4.8 items. 2. The main test items are 100m dash for physical fitness element of speed, Sargent jump test, hand ball throwing and standing broad jump for that of power, pull up and sit ups for that of muscle strengh, stand trunk flexion for that of agility and middle distance run for that of endurance. 3. Among the 52 colleges, 21(40%) colleges adopt the motor skill test items and 25(48%) colleges adopt a professional motor skill test item. 4. Most of colleges(37/62, 60%) lay great emphasis on the practicing entrance examination(P.E.E) than the national pre-college entrance examination(N.P.C.E.E) in the allotting rate. 5. The relationship between the total score of the entrance examination and the score of the practicing entrance examination is high(0.82), when the proportion of N.P.C.E.E to P.E.E is settled at the rate of 30 to 40.

        The purpose of this experimental study is to compare and analyze on the Straddle Jump Reaction Time (SJRT) and the Vertical Jump Reaction Time (VJRT) and the High Vertcal Jump Reaction Time (HVJRT). The subjects were 17 soccer players and 34 male non-athletes in Koan-Dong University. The data were analyzed by t-test and Pearson's method. Results of statistical analysis of the data seem to justify the following conclusions; 1. The VJRT of athletes group is faster than that of non-athletes group at 0.5% level of significance. The SJRT and the HVJRT of athletes group is faster than that of non-athletes group at 0.1% level of significance. 2. In athletes group, the SJRT is faster than the VJRT, the SJRT is faster than the HVJRT, and the VJRT is faster than the HVJRT at 0.1% level of significance. In non-athletes group, the SJRT is faster than the HVJRT and the VJRT is faster than the HVJRT at 0.1% level of significance, but difference of mean between the SJRT and the VJRT is no significant at 0.5% level of significance. 3. The correlation between the SVRT and the VJRT was proved to have been high in each group. 4. The SJRT is useful data than the VJRT as evaluating agility by simple reaction time.

        The purpose of this study is to analyze the correlation between the Vertical Jump Reaction Time (VJRT) and the Simple Whole Body Reaction Time (SWBRT) and the Response Time (RST) For the study subjects were selected 36 high school soccer players and 37 college soccer player. The results were as follows; 1. The correlation between the VJRT and the SWBRT was proved to have been low. 2. The correlation between the VJRT and RST was proved to have been low. 3. The correlation between each direction of the SWBRT and that of the RST was proved to have been high. 4. The college soccer player group is faster than the high school soccer player group in the VJRT, but difference of mean between the SWBRT and the RST were no significant at 1% level of significance.

        Suspended and dissolved substance were included in water. Suspended substances can be relatively easily removed by sand filter, whereas, complete removal of dissolved substances in water was not possible at present. It is due to repulsion between negative charge of dissolved substances and sand filter previously used. Potential application of sand filters coated with Al and Fe in removing humid substances was evaluated in this experiment to improve removal efficiency of the dissolved substances in the water. In the adsorption experiment, the removal efficiency of humic substances was higher in the coated sand filter than In the uncoated one. More specifically, the higher removal efficiency of the humic substances in the Al-coating sand filter was obtained over the pH range randomly determined(4.2, 5.1, 7.6, and 10.0). Especially, the removal efficiency of the humic substance at the pH 10 was relatively constantly maintained at a level of about 95% during the maximum 8 hours. After then, it was sharply decreased. In the leaching experiment, the concentration of leachate in both coated and uncoated sand filters was all the highest at pH 9.95. It was relatively higher over the pH range of 7 to 10 than other pH range. Finally, the removal efficiency of the humic substances obtained in the readsorption experiment was rapidly declined, compared to that obtained in the adsorption experiment. Experiment results acquired in this research may be used to develop a promising technology for the removal of bacteria, algae, and colorful colloids, and a variety of dissolved substances in water.

        The purpose of this study is to compare on the terminologies of surface anatomy between Korea, North Korea, China and Japan for modifing in 4th Korean Nomina Anatomica. This paper suggests that 11 terminologies in skeletal system, 10 terminologies in muscle system and 15 terminologies in regional anatomy and 15 terminologies in exercise. Main principles of the modification are as follows : 1. The terminology of surface anatomy must be modified to Korean native terminologies in modifing 4th Korean Nomina Anatomica. 2. The terminology of anatomy text book must be modified in all discipline of applied anatomy. 3. It is nessisary to co-work between The Socity of Korean Anatomy and The Socity of DPRK Anatomy for unificate the terminology of Korean Nomina Anatomica. 4. The new terminology of Korean Nomina Anatomica must be used in all journal papers.

        The purpose of this experimental study is to compare and analyze the Vertical Jump Reaction Time(VJRT), the Simple Whole Body Reaction Time(SWBRT) and the Choice Whole Body Reaction Time(CWBRT). The subjects were choosen 14 goal keepers and 34 soccer players and 34 non-athletes in college. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. The VJRT of the goal keeper group and the soccer player group are faster than that of the non-athletes group. 2. The VJRT is faster than the SWBRT in the goal keeper group and the soccer player group and the non-athletes at 1% level of significance. 3. The CWBRT of the goal keeper group and the soccer player group are faster than that of the non-athletes group. 4. The VJRT is faster than the CWBRT in the goal keeper group and the soccer player group and the non-athletes at 1% level of significance.

      • 주요 시설물 인접지역의 깊은 터파기굴착에서 변위 및 응력의 계측과 응용

        The excavation works for deep foundation in urban areas have recently increased complaints of blasting vibration and settlement of ground level. Foundation must be excavated approximately up to 24∼28m depths from the surface. The roads and subway line pass through the excavation area. The Dae-chung station is also located at the nearest distance 5∼35m fron the working site. To protect subway station and adjacient some structures from blasting and settlement, the level of ground vibration, displacements and stress were monitored and analyzed. The results can be summarized as follows : 1. An empirical particle velocity equation was obtained by test blasts at Nassan Missi 860 Officetel construction site. V=K(D/√W)^-n, where the values for n and k are estimated to be 0.371 and 1.551 respectively. From this ground vibration equation, the max, charge weight per delay time against distance from blasting point is calculated. Detailed blasting method is also presented. 2. To measure the horizontal displacement in directions in directions perpendicular to the borehole axis, 6 inclinometers installed around working sites. The displacement at the beginning was comparatively high because the installation of struts was delayed, but after its installation the values showed a stable trend. Among them, the displacement by 3 inclinometers installed on a temporary parking area showed comparatively high values, for example, the displacement measrued at hole No. IC-1 recorded the max, 57.33mm for 7 months. So, all of these data was estimated below a safe standard value 103mm. 3. Seven strain gauge meter was installed to measure value of maximum stress was-465㎏f/㎠, -338.4㎏f/㎠, 302.3㎏f/㎠ respectively. In compare to the allowable stress level of steel, they are estimated to be safe.
