Time-evolving genetic networks reveal a NAC troika that negatively regulates leaf senescence in <i>Arabidopsis</i>

<▼1><P><B>Significance</B></P><P>Leaf senescence is regulated in a complex manner, involving time-dependent interactions with developmental and environmental signals. Genetic screens have identified key regulators of senescence, particularly late-stage senescence regulators. Recently, time-course gene-expression and network analyses, mostly analyses of static networks, have predicted many senescence regulators. However, senescence is defined by time-evolving networks, involving the temporal transition of interactions among senescence regulators. Here, we present time-evolving networks of NAM/ATAF/CUC (NAC) transcription factors, central regulators of leaf senescence in <I>Arabidopsis</I>, via time-course gene-expression analysis of NACs in their mutants. These time-evolving networks revealed a unique regulatory module of NACs that controls the timely induction of senescence-promoting processes at a presenescent stage of leaf aging.</P></▼1><▼2><P>Senescence is controlled by time-evolving networks that describe the temporal transition of interactions among senescence regulators. Here, we present time-evolving networks for NAM/ATAF/CUC (NAC) transcription factors in <I>Arabidopsis</I> during leaf aging. The most evident characteristic of these time-dependent networks was a shift from positive to negative regulation among NACs at a presenescent stage. ANAC017, ANAC082, and ANAC090, referred to as a “NAC troika,” govern the positive-to-negative regulatory shift. Knockout of the NAC troika accelerated senescence and the induction of other <I>NAC</I>s, whereas overexpression of the NAC troika had the opposite effects. Transcriptome and molecular analyses revealed shared suppression of senescence-promoting processes by the NAC troika, including salicylic acid (SA) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) responses, but with predominant regulation of SA and ROS responses by ANAC090 and ANAC017, respectively. Our time-evolving networks provide a unique regulatory module of presenescent repressors that direct the timely induction of senescence-promoting processes at the presenescent stage of leaf aging.</P></▼2>

익렬유동의 수치해석에서의 복합 정렬-비정렬 격자계의 적용 연구

Numerical simulation has been performed to examine the effects of the computational grids on the prediction of the flow characteristics inside the transonic turbine cascades. Three kinds of computational grids are applied to the high-turning transonic turbine rotor blades and are compared in the sense of stability and accuracy. In addition, the grid adaptation has been tried in order to improve the prediction of the blade performance.

원발성 중추신경계 임파종 : 치료 및 생존율 Treatment and Survival Rate

The authors report on 17 patients having primary central nervous system(CNS) lymphomas between January, 1981 and August, 1992. All patients were treated at Seoul National University Hospital. Only three cases underwent surgery only and fourteen cases underwent surgery and radiation therapy with or without chemotherapy. There were no immunosuppressive patients. Sixteen patients were analyzed for survival studies, because one case was lost during follow-up. The median survival time(MST) was 26 months and one- and two-year survival rates for the 16 patients were 87.5% and 65.6% respectively. The rate of survival was analyzed according to possible prognostic factors ; age and sex, multiplicity and location of tumors, preoperative Karnofsky performance score(KPS), pathological subclassification, type of surgery, preoperative steroid therapy, postoperative adjuvant therapy, extent of radiation, chemotherapy and the degree of response to treatment at three months follow-up. Postoperative adjuvant therapy and the degree of response to the treatment correlated with survival. Fourteen patients who underwent postoperative adjuvant therapy had a median survival time of 63 months. The one- and two-year survival rates were 100% and 75% respectively compared to the MST of 1.5 months with survival rates of 0% and 0% retrospectively for the two patients who did not. A higher long term survival rate was observed in the group with better immediate responses. In nine of 16 patients with complete responses, the MST, one-, and two-year survival rates were 63 months, 100%, and 83% respectively. The authors suggest that preoperative application of steroids may be considered in case of clinically suspected primary CNS lymphomas. It is concluded that after obtaining the tissue diagnosis of primary CNS lymphomas, radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy should be performed until the complete response.

유아교사의 생활양식과 건강상태에 관한 연구

This study was to raise awareness of the importance which preschool teachers should practice right life style, by examining their lifestyle and health state. I looked into preschool teachers' food, clothing, and housing as a lifestyle, and their physical and psychological conditions as a health state. 400 preschool teachers in Busan were given a questionnaire, and 347 responses of them were used for this study. For achieving the purpose of this study, two research questions were as followings. 1. How is the life style of preschool teachers? 2. How is the status of preschool teachers? The result of this study showed that preschool teachers were more likely to wear mainly clothes processed by a softening agent in clothing life and many of them tended to eat fast or not to chew their food well when they had lunch or a snack in food life. In identified that in housing-related life, they were less likely to use a carpet or polyurethane mat and more likely to change teaching tools and furniture into new ones. Most of them were less likely to do regular exercise in medical life, and of the lifestyle, the clothing life averaged at the least, It also showed that their physical condition was not good, while their psychological condition was normal. Concerning the state of diseases, 50.1 percent were diagnosed with a disease by doctors. The most common disease they suffered from was anemia, followed by gastroenteric disorder, obesity, gynecologic diseases, ruptured disk and thyroid diseases.

조선후기 문인의 明ㆍ淸 서적 수용과 독서의 경향성 試考

이 글은 18세기 후반 조선 지식인 사회에서 나타나는 명ㆍ청 서적에 대한 독서의 모습을 살피는 데 그 목적이 있다. 논의의 구체성 확보를 위해서 이 시기에 독서인으로서 전형적인 모습을 가진 이덕무의 기록들을 집중적으로 분석하고, 그가 수용한 서적들의 목록을 작성하였다. 이 시기 지식인 독자들은 다양한 공적ㆍ사적인 경로를 통해서 청으로부터 다양한 분야의 서적들을 수용하였다. 이들은 연행을 통해서 서적을 도입하고 동류 집단 내의 장서가를 통한 서적의 교환과 적극적인 전사라는 방법을 거쳐서 새로운 지식에 접근할 수 있었다. 이러한 서적의 수용은 좀더 진전된 학문 방법론에 대한 이해와 지식의 확대를 가져오는 계기가 되었다. 수용된 명ㆍ청의 서적들은 일반적으로 子部와 集部에 속한 것들이 상대적으로 많은 분량을 차지했고 經部에 해당하는 서적 중에서는 經에 대한 새로운 해석을 시도하는 청의 서적들이 다수를 차지하고 있었다. 조선의 지식인은 전통적인 경서 중심의 읽기와 그것으로부터 벗어난 새로운 책의 섭렵이라는 취향을 동시에 추구하고 있었다. 결과적으로 명ㆍ청 서적의 독서는 문인과 지식인들 사이에서 새로운 지식을 소통시키고 사고의 전환을 이룰 수 있는 계기를 제공하였다. In this paper, I have intended to show a true picture of the reading of Ming and Qing's book in the literati in the late of 18th century. To secure a concrete discussion, the case of Lee Deok Moo as a typical model of intellectual in Chosun was analyzed. The books that had been read by him was listed. The intellectual readers in those times they had accepted books through public and private channels from Qing China. They had introduced Ming and Qing's books in Chosun society from traveling of China and borrowed books from a private libraty among the same class and transcribed those books. It led for them to approach a new knowledge. That kind of accommodating the book brought the magnification of knowledge with the progress of methodology. The growth in the number of Classics introduced from Qing China in those times decreased and Philosophies and Belles Lettres in category increased. The new commentaries on the Four Books appeared and widely were read in intellectual community. In the traditional way of reading the Classics and the Four Books, they began to deviate from strict reading of the Confucian classics and to pursuit of the pleasure of reading. Consequently, the reading of those books provided a chance that gave them mutual understanding and accomplished the conversion of thinking among the intellectuals.

This paper deals with the robustness of closed-loop poles of a linear time-invariant system with uncertain parameters. A new method is presented to calculate the perturbation of a pole -located region due to parameter uncertainties. A method to calculate allowable bounds on parameter uncertainties is also presented to retain closed-loop poles in a specified region. Based on Lyapunov equations and norm operations, they provide useful measures on the robustness of closed -loop poles. An example is given to illustrate proposed methods.

In this study we will present the stress of transverse axis to longitudinal axis of bridge according to skew and width/length.

箱子桁의 壓縮플랜지 挫屈에 대한 模型實驗解析

As box girder is the structure constituted by thin plates, security of the structure is greatly influenced by the collapse on compressional flange. The collapses of flange bring about stress concentration at upper sides of web, morever, if in case of the imperfect plate they were increased, tensile stress would occur at the middle point of upper flange and develop collapse failure at upper sides of web and projections of upper flange. The ratio a/b(both side-lengths of plate) of the collapse is decided by the distance of diaphragm, when load is increased up critical load the ratio a/b approaches 0.70. Designing the box girder, engineers must take into the influences of side stress that imperfects of flange and eccentric load arouse.
