      • An Improved T/2 Fractionally Spaced Blind Equalization Algorithm with Coordinate Transform

Xiaoping Jiang,Hao Ding,Hua Zhang,Chenghua Li 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.12

To address the slow convergence and large residual error problems in the T/2 fractionally spaced equalization with constant modulus algorithm (T/2-FSE-CMA) for high-order QAM signal in wireless communication, we analyze the distribution characters of 16QAM signal constellations and propose an improved T/2 fractionally spaced blind equalization with coordinate transform and constant modulus algorithm (T/2-FSE-RCTCMA). In this algorithm, we equalize the real and imaginary parts of the input signal in the fractionally spaced equalizer separately. By using the coordinate transform the output signals are mapped into the same circle and the error function of constant modulus is achieved. Using the error function to adjust the weight vector of each sub-channel in the fractionally spaced equalizer, we may avoid the miss-detection caused by the T/2 FSE-CMA algorithm in multi-modulus high-order QAM signal equalization. The simulation results in wireless channel show that compared with T/2-FSE-CTCMA and T/2- FSE-CMA, the proposed algorithm has a faster convergence speed and a smaller residual error.

Modeling of nanoparticles’ aggregation and sedimentation in nanofluid

        Weiting Jiang,Guoliang Ding,Hao Peng,Haitao Hu 한국물리학회 2010 Current Applied Physics Vol.10 No.3

The aggregation and sedimentation of nanoparticles in nanofluid have significant influences on the stability and applicability of nanofluids. The objective of this study is to propose a model to predict the nanoparticles’aggregation and sedimentation characteristics. The characteristics are evaluated by the concentration of nanoparticles in nanofluid at different time. The concentration of nanoparticles can be calculated according to the speed and location of each nanoparticle. Then, the speed and location of each nanoparticle can be yielded when the forces on each nanoparticle are determined. For the forces on nanoparticles are related to the space structure of nanoparticle clusters, the clusters’ space structures are simulated. Case study shows that the mean deviation of predicted nanoparticle concentration from experimental data for Fullerence + H2O, Fullerence + Oil and CuO + Oil nanofluids are 25%, 16% and 13%, respectively. The model can provide quantitative prediction of the aggregation and sedimentation characteristics of nanoparticles in nanofluid.

      • Genetic Polymorphism of Interleukin-1A (IL-1A), IL-1B, and IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RN) and Prostate Cancer Risk

Xu, Hua,Ding, Qiang,Jiang, Hao-Wen Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.20

Purpose: We aimed to investigate the associations between polymorphisms of interleukin-1A (IL-1A), IL-1B, and IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RN) and prostate cancer (PCa) risk. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive search for articles of MEDLINE and EMBASE databases and bibliographies of retrieved articles published up to August 3, 2014 was performed. Methodological quality assessment of the trials was based on a standard quality scoring system. The meta-analysis was performed using STATA 12.0. Results: We included 9 studies (1 study for IL-1A, 5 studies for IL-1B, and 3 studies for IL-1RN), and significant association was found between polymorphisms of IL-1B-511 (rs16944) as well as IL-1B-31 (rs1143627) and PCa risk. IL-1B-511 (rs16944) polymorphism was significantly associated with PCa risk in homozygote and recessive models, as well as allele contrast (TT vs CC: OR, 0.74; 95%CI, 0.58-0.94; P=0.012; TT vs TC+CC; OR, 0.79; 95%CI, 0.63-0.98; P=0.033; T vs C: OR, 0.86; 95%CI, 0.77-0.96; P=0.008). The association between IL-1B-31 (rs1143627) polymorphism and PCa risk was weakly significant under a heterozygote model (OR, 1.35; 95%CI, 1.00-1.80; P=0.047). Conclusions: Sequence variants in IL-1B-511 (rs16944) and IL-1B-31 (rs1143627) are significantly associated with PCa risk, which provides additional novel evidence that proinflammatory cytokines and inflammation play an important role in the etiology of PCa.

Extraction of density-of-states in amorphous InGaZnO thin-film transistors from temperature stress studies

        Xing-Wei Ding,Jianhua Zhang,Weimin Shi,Hao Zhang,Chuanxin Huang,Jun Li,Xueyin Jiang,Zhilin Zhang 한국물리학회 2014 Current Applied Physics Vol.14 No.12

The instability of amorphous InGaZnO (a-IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) with different active layer thicknesses under temperature stress has been investigated through using the density-of-states (DOS). Interestingly, the a-IGZO TFT with 22 nm active layer thickness showed a better stability than the others, which was observed from the decrease of interfacial and semiconductor bulk trap densities. The DOS was calculated based on the experimentally-obtained activation energy (EA), which can explain the experimental observations. We developed the high-performance Al2O3 TFT with 22 nm IGZO channel layer (a high mobility of 7.4 cm2/V, a small threshold voltage of 2.8 V, a high Ion/Ioff 1.8 107, and a small SS of 0.16 V/dec), which can be used as driving devices in the next-generation flat panel displays.

      • Diabetes Mellitus Reduces Prostate Cancer Risk - No Function of Age at Diagnosis or Duration of Disease

Xu, Hua,Mao, Shan-Hua,Ding, Guan-Xiong,Ding, Qiang,Jiang, Hao-Wen Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.1

Background: Prior studies examining the relation between diabetes mellitus (DM) and prostate cancer risk have reported controversial findings. We examined this association by conducting a detailed meta-analysis of the peer-reviewed literature. Methods: A comprehensive search for articles of MEDLINE and EMBASE databases and bibliographies of retrieved articles published up to November, 2012 was performed. Methodological quality assessment of the trials was based on the Newcastle-Ottawa Scaleq and the meta-analysis was performed using STATA 12.0. Dose-response regression was conducted with SPSS 19.0. Results: We included 29 studies in the meta-analysis (13 case-control studies, 16 cohort studies), and found an inverse association between DM and prostate cancer (relative risk (RR) 0.84, 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.78-0.91). An inverse association was also observed in non-Asian populations (RR 0.81, 95% CI 0.76-0.87) and population-based studies (RR 0.80, 95% CI 0.77-0.91). No statistical significance was found of the association between prostate cancer risk and the duration of DM (p=0.338), and risk seemed not related with the age of DM diagnosis. Conclusions: This study suggested an inverse relationship between DM and prostate cancer, but without links to duration of disease or age of diagnosis.

        Ting Guo,Jian-ning Zhao,Hui Jiang,Jia Meng,Yi-cun Wang,Jun Wang,Yang Qiu,Hao Ding 연세대학교의과대학 2019 Yonsei medical journal Vol.60 No.7

Purpose: To compare the effect of apixaban and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) in the prevention and treatment of deepvenous thrombosis (DVT) after total knee arthroplasty in older adult patients. Materials and Methods: A total of 220 patients (average age of 67.8±6.4 years) undergoing total knee arthroplasty were randomlyselected as research subjects and were divided into apixaban and LMWH groups (110 in each group). Results: The incidence of DVT was lower in the apixaban group than in the LMWH group (5.5% vs. 20.0%, p=0.001). Activatedpartial thromboplastin times (35.2±3.6 sec vs. 33.7±2.2 sec, p=0.010; 37.8±4.6 sec vs. 34.1±3.2 sec, p<0.001; 39.6±5.1 sec vs. 35.7±3.0sec, p=0.032) and prothrombin times (14.0±1.0 sec vs. 12.8±0.9 sec, p<0.001; 14.5±1.2 sec vs. 13.0±1.1 sec, p<0.001; 15.3±1.4 sec vs. 13.2±1.3 sec, p=0.009) in the apixaban group at 1 week after surgery, 3 weeks after surgery, and the end of treatment were higherthan those in the LMWH group. Platelet and fibrinogen levels in the apixaban group were lower than those of the LMWH group. Also, capillary plasma viscosity and erythrocyte aggregation in the apixaban group at 1 week after surgery, 3 weeks after surgery, and the end of treatment were lower than those in the LMWH group. Conclusion: Apixaban, which elicits fewer adverse reactions and is safer than LMWH, exhibited better effects in the preventionand treatment of DVT after total knee arthroplasty in older adults.

Analytical solutions to piezoelectric bimorphs based on improved FSDT beam model

Yan-guo Zhou,Yun-min Chen,Hao-jiang Ding 국제구조공학회 2005 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.1 No.3

This paper presents an efficient and accurate coupled beam model for piezoelectric bimorphs based on improved first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The model combines the equivalent single layer approach for the mechanical displacements and a layerwise modeling for the electric potential. General electric field function is proposed to reasonably approximate the through-the-thickness distribution of the applied and induced electric potentials. Layerwise defined shear correction factor (k) accounting for nonlinear shear strain distribution is introduced into both the shear stress resultant and the electric displacement integration. Analytical solutions for free vibrations and forced response under electromechanical loads are obtained for the simply supported piezoelectric bimorphs with series or parallel arrangement, and the numerical results for various length-to-thickness ratios are compared with the exact two-dimensional piezoelasticity solution. Excellent predictions with low error estimates of local and global responses as well as the modal frequencies are observed.

Atomic Force Microscopy of Asymmetric Membranes from Turtle Erythrocytes

        Tian, Yongmei,Cai, Mingjun,Xu, Haijiao,Ding, Bohua,Hao, Xian,Jiang, Junguang,Sun, Yingchun,Wang, Hongda Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2014 Molecules and cells Vol.37 No.8

The cell membrane provides critical cellular functions that rely on its elaborate structure and organization. The structure of turtle membranes is an important part of an ongoing study of erythrocyte membranes. Using a combination of atomic force microscopy and single-molecule force spectroscopy, we characterized the turtle erythrocyte membrane structure with molecular resolution in a quasi-native state. High-resolution images both leaflets of turtle erythrocyte membranes revealed a smooth outer membrane leaflet and a protein covered inner membrane leaflet. This asymmetry was verified by single-molecule force spectroscopy, which detects numerous exposed amino groups of membrane proteins in the inner membrane leaflet but much fewer in the outer leaflet. The asymmetric membrane structure of turtle erythrocytes is consistent with the semi-mosaic model of human, chicken and fish erythrocyte membrane structure, making the semi-mosaic model more widely applicable. From the perspective of biological evolution, this result may support the universality of the semi-mosaic model.
