A new method for the simultaneous determination of seven transition metal ions in water and food by microcolumn high-performance liquid chromatography has been developed. The lead, cadmium, mercury, nickel, cobalt, silver and tin ions were pre-column derivatized with tetra-(4-aminophenyl)-porphyrin ($T_4$-APP) to form the colored chelates which were then enriched by solid phase extraction with $C_{18}$ cartridge. The enrichment factor of 50 was achieved by eluted the retained chelates from the cartridge with tetrahydrofuran (THF). The chelates were separated on a ZORBAX Stable Bound microcolumn ($2.0{\times}50\;mm,\;1.8\;{\mu}m$)with methanol-tetrahydrofuran (95 : 5, v/v, containing 0.05 mol/L pyrrolidine-acetic acid buffer salt, pH = 10.0) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/min and detected with a photodiode array detector from 350-600 nm. The seven chelates were separated completely within 2.0 min. The detection limits of lead, cadmium, mercury, nickel, cobalt, silver and tin are 4 ng/L, 3 ng/L, 6 ng/L, 5 ng/L, 5 ng/L, 6 ng/L, 4 ng/L respectively in the original samples. This method was applied to the determination of the seven transition metal in water and food samples with good results.
An experimental study on low-velocity nonlinear flow in vuggy carbonate reservoirs

Vuggy carbonate reservoirs in the Middle East, which have characteristics such as high porosity, low permeability, and few fractures, are significantly different from fractured-vuggy carbonate reservoirs. In this study, single-phase flow experiments and core mercury injection experiments were conducted to analyze the pore size distribution and low-velocity nonlinear flow characteristics of vuggy carbonate rocks in Halfaya oilfield. The results show that the relationship between pseudo-threshold pressure gradient and permeability in matrix carbonate rocks is linear. However, vuggy type does not exhibit the same linear relationship. Compared with matrix type, vuggy carbonate rock has a nonlinear flow zone when the pressure gradient is comparatively low and the nonlinear flow characteristics are quite different from those of low-permeability sandstone reservoirs. Because of the multi-polarization of flow channel radius in vuggy carbonate rocks, fluid stepwise starts flowing as the pressure gradient increases. Vuggy carbonate rock has a pseudo-threshold pressure gradient during the low-velocity flow, but the actual threshold pressure gradient does not exist. The concept of whole channel flow pressure gradient is presented in this paper. The results contribute to improve the understanding of low-velocity flow characteristics of vuggy carbonate reservoirs.

Purpose The importance of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in tumorigenesis has recently been demonstrated. However, the role of lncRNAs in development of thyroid cancer remains largely unknown. Materials and Methods Using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, expression of three lncRNAs, including BRAF-activated long noncoding RNA (BANCR), papillary thyroid cancer susceptibility candidate 3 (PTCSC3), and noncoding RNA associated with mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway and growth arrest (NAMA), was investigated in the current study. Results Of the three lncRNAs (BANCR, PTCSC3, and NAMA), expression of BANCR was significantly up-regulated while PTCSC3 and NAMA were significantly down-regulated in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) compared to that in normal tissue. BANCR-knockdown in a PTC-derived cell line (IHH-4) resulted in significant suppression of thyroid stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR). BANCR-knockdown also led to inhibition of cell growth and cell cycle arrest at G0/G1 phase through down-regulation of cyclin D1. In addition, BANCR was enriched by polycomb enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2), and silencing BANCR led to decreased chromatin recruitment of EZH2, which resulted significantly reduced expression of TSHR. Conclusion These findings indicate that BANCR may contribute to the tumorigenesis of PTC through regulation of cyclin D1 and TSHR.
LOCALIZED IMPLEMENTATION: ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF THE BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVE IN CHINA

China's overcapacities in manufacturing industries, including pollution-intensive industries, served as an important motivation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The popular Pollution Haven Hypothesis (PHH) therefore expects that the initiative will lead to the relocation of polluting industries from China to the recipients. Focusing on the implementation by local governments, we argue that actual outcomes of the BRI depend on the way local states and businesses respond to the BRI in accordance with their preferences. Through investigating industries’ actual responses to the BRI, we found that pollution-intensive industries have not relocated but rather expanded exports to the BRI countries. This has two implications: on the one hand, it alleviates the overcapacity issue in China and helps sustain the economic performance of the industry; on the other hand, it results in more pollution within Chinese borders and aggravates the environmental challenges facing the country.

Al15Mg45Li39Ca0.5Si0.5 LW-HEAs with a density of 1.45 g/cm3 was designed and fabricated by magnetic suspension furnace. The non-dendritic globular microstructures of Al15Mg45Li39Ca0.5Si0.5LW-HEAs were prepared by isothermal heat treatment,and the effects of isothermal temperatures and holding times on the microstructures of semi-solid Al15Mg45Li39Ca0.5Si0.5LW-HEAs were investigated by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope. The results indicate that the phasesof Al15Mg45Li39Ca0.5Si0.5LW-HEAs consist of HCP phases and intermetallic compounds. With the increase of isothermaltemperature, the average grain size increases and the shape factor increases first and then decreases. With the prolongationof holding time, the average grain size increases first, then decreases and then increases again, and the shape factor alsoincreases first and then decreases. The semi-solid Al15Mg45Li39Ca0.5Si0.5LW-HEAs have a low coarsening coefficient. Compared with the as-cast Al15Mg45Li39Ca0.5Si0.5LW-HEAs, the ultimate strength, plasicity and hardness of smei-solidAl15Mg45Li39Ca0.5Si0.5LW-HEAs are improved by 25.7%, 18.5% and 89.7%, respectively.
Reliability Based Structural Topology Optimization Considering Non-stationary Stochastic Excitations

This paper studies the optimum structural design considering non-stationary stochastic excitations. The topology optimization of the lateral bracing system of frame structures is conducted and the first-passage probability of a displacement response is minimized under the material volume constraint. The concept of Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) model is employed for describing the material distribution. An efficient optimization algorithm based on explicit time-domain method is developed. Numerical examples of frame structures subjected to non-stationary seismic excitations are investigated to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
