Background: Information on the effectiveness of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir against the omicron is limited. The clinical response and viral kinetics to therapy in the real world need to be evaluated. Methods: Mild to moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with risk factors for severe illness were prospectively enrolled as a treatment group with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir therapy versus a control group with supportive care. Serial viral load and culture from the upper respiratory tract were evaluated for seven days, and clinical responses and adverse reactions were evaluated for 28 days. Results: A total of 51 patients were analyzed including 40 in the treatment group and 11 in the control group. Faster symptom resolution during hospitalization (P = 0.048) was observed in the treatment group. Only minor adverse reactions were reported in 27.5% of patients. The viral load on Day 7 was lower in the treatment group (P = 0.002). The viral culture showed a positivity of 67.6% (25/37) vs. 100% (6/6) on Day 1, 0% (0/37) vs. 16.7 (1/6) on Day 5, and 0% (0/16) vs. 50.0% (2/4) on Day 7 in the treatment and control groups, respectively. Conclusions: Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir against the omicron was safe and resulted in negative viral culture conversion after Day 5 of treatment with better symptomatic resolution.

Mutation of the gene for adenomatous polyposis coli (APC), asseen in ApcMin/+ mice, leads to intestinal adenomas and carcinomasvia stabilization of β-catenin. Transmembrane 4 L sixfamily member 5 (TM4SF5) is involved in the development ofnon-alcoholic fatty liver disease, fibrosis, and cancer. However,the functional linkage between TM4SF5 and APC or β-cateninhas not been investigated for pathological outcomes. After interbreedingApcMin/+ with TM4SF5-overexpressing transgenic(TgTM4SF5) mice, we explored pathological outcomes in the intestinesand livers of the offspring. The intestines of 26-week-olddual-transgenic mice (ApcMin/+:TgTM4SF5) had intramucosal adenocarcinomasbeyond the single-crypt adenomas in ApcMin/+ mice. Additional TM4SF5 overexpression increased the stabilizationof β-catenin via reduced glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β)phosphorylation on Ser9. Additionally, the livers of the dualtransgenicmice showed distinct sinusoidal dilatation and featuresof hepatic portal hypertension associated with fibrosis,more than did the relatively normal livers in ApcMin/+ mice. Interestingly, TM4SF5 overexpression in the liver was positivelylinked to increased GSK3β phosphorylation (opposite to thatseen in the colon), β-catenin level, and extracellular matrix (ECM)protein expression, indicating fibrotic phenotypes. Consistentwith these results, 78-week-old TgTM4SF5 mice similarly had sinusoidaldilatation, immune cell infiltration, and fibrosis. Altogether,systemic overexpression of TM4SF5 aggravates pathologicalabnormalities in both the colon and the liver.
미세먼지로 인한 온실 피복재 투과율 저하 실험모델 개발

최근 국내외로 급속한 산업화로 인해 황사 및 미세먼지 발생 횟수가 증가하고 있으며, 이러한 미세먼지는 비닐온실의 투과율을 저하시켜 시설 작물의 생육 환경을 저해한다. 본 연구에서는 미세먼지 발생으로 인한 온실 피복재 투과율 저하도를 구명하고, 온습도 환경에 따른 미세먼지 흡착율을 평가하기 위해 축소실험모델을 개발하였다. 모델은 1개의 미세먼지 발생환경 재현 챔버와 미세먼지 발생장치, 온습도 및 미세먼지 측정 모니터링 센서를 포함한 컨트롤러로 구성되었다. 미세먼지 발생장치의 시료 투입구에 공압펌프를 활용하여 일정 간격으로 미세입자가 주입되며, 정량 투입을 위한 물리적 장치가 고안되었다. 또한 미세먼지 발생장치 내 싸이클론 발생기와 필터를 설치하여 챔버 내 미세먼지의 입경별 투입을 고려하였다. 미세먼지 시료는 입경 분포가 0.97 - 22.00 ㎛로 이루어진 Arizona test dust (A1 Ultrafine)을 사용하였으며, 온실 설계 시 가장 많이 활용되는 폴리에틸렌 (PE) 피복재를 대상으로 투과율 저하도를 분석하였다. 챔버내 온·습도 환경을 조절하며 미세먼지 흡착율에 따른 비닐시편의 투과율 저하도를 비교하였다.

<P>Visualizing the electromagnetic field transformation inside a microwave mode conversion region has been considered to be only realizable by simulation studies. For the first time, we present a comprehensive experimental observation of the electric field transformation occurring inside a metallic waveguide TE(01)-to-TE(02) mode converter. An efficient electro-optic (EO) probe and its associated probing system were used for measuring the electric field pattern in the external near-field region as well as in the internal and penetrated region of the mode converter. Utilizing the optically measured field patterns at the aperture of the mode converter, the conversion performance from the TE(01) mode to the TE(02) mode can be also evaluated. Experimentally measured field patterns near the apertures show excellent agreement with simulation data. The mode conversion to the next higher-order mode (TE(01) to TE(02)) was experimentally demonstrated with phase-stabilized and field-animated post processing. The presented in situ endoscopic photonic measurement technique for the field evolution inside a semi-enclosed structure could be used for visually inspecting manufacturing errors in fabricated structures, and could be of great interest for research on higher-order mode formation and transmission.</P>
Institutions, or Perceptions Matter?

본 연구는 우리나라 공공기관 및 지방공기업 인사제도 분석을 통해, 공공기관의 인적자원 개발 및 일・가정양립을 위한 제도현황과 문제점을 파악하며, 제도개선을 통한 양성평등 제고를 위해 시행되었다. 공공기관의 인사담당을 설문하여, 공공기관 인사제도의 현황 진단 및 문제점, 개선방안을 모색하였다. 분석결과, 취약한 양성평등제도 제고를 위해 경영평가에서 여직원 비율, 여성임원의 비율 등을 정량지표로 활용할 필요가 있다. 특히, 지방공기업의 경우 성분리 통계가 미진하여, 성분리통계를 작성하고 고시하도록 부처 및 지방자치단체의 협조가 필요하다. 뿐만 아니라, 인사제도가 실질적으로 작동할 수 있는 기반조성이 필요하다. 공공기관 규정상으로는 법정 요건을 충족하고 있음에도 불구하고, 규모가 작은 조직일수록 공백으로 인한 동료의 업무부담 등을 고려하여 일・가정양립제도를 활용하기를 꺼려하는 분위기임을 감안할 때, 대체인력의 확보와 같은 기반조성이 시급한 사안이다. Public institutions are intermediate forms of government and private company. It is established to pursue the publicness and the profitability at the same time. Considering their publicness and the enormous share of the national economy, the personnel system of public institutions has great impact on that of private sector. This study analyses and evaluates the actual conditions of the personnel management system of public institutions from a gender perspective, and to present future policy directions. Through survey, it focused on the gender status of public institutions including local public enterprises, the need for gender statistics, the perception and attitude about gender characteristics in the personnel system, and the improvement of the institutions. The public institution personnel system is diagnosed and the gender needs are investigated by grasping the gender equality perception of the workers. This research leads us to spread out a family-friendly personnel system and gender equality in public institutions. It suggests the foundation is required in the personnel system to operate substantially. It is necessary to build a portal such as replacement workers and the gender statistics of local public enterprises.
