        국내산 무화과를 이용한 와인 제조 및 품질 개선 효과

        Fig(Ficus carica L.) which belongs to Moraceae family has been used as digestion promoter, cure for ulcerative inflammation and eruption in Korea. Figs have very short preservation period and can be kept only 1 week even in the refrigeration system. The possibility of wine-making from Korean figs was tested by analyzing the fermentation characteristics, proximate analysis and free sugar contents of wine made of slices with 20% sugar addition. Ethanol fermentation of the figs by Saccharomyces cerevisiae was done rapidly. The ethanol contents, pH, total acidity and sugar content were 12.1%, 3.91, 0.42% and 9.9 °Brix, respectively. The results from the sensory evaluation were as follows. The wine made from the sliced figs were better than that from fig juices in their sensory scores. The wine made with frozen figs was not different from that made with fresh ones. To improve the quality of wine, the addition of dried leaf powder in the concentration of 100 ppm were tried and found it was superior to the one made without leaf.

        Investigation of the effect of cavitation and journal whirl on static and dynamic characteristics of journal bearing

        The cavitation phenomenon in journal bearing and journal whirl are considered to evaluate the static and dynamic characteristics of journal bearing, to be more consistent with the actual operating conditions of journal bearing. With a 3D CFD method, the cavitation and journal whirl are simulated by adopting mesh deformation technique and mixture phase-change model. By comparing the results with those of the traditional Reynolds equation, we observe that first, the phenomena of cavitation and journal whirl are very consistent with the actual operating conditions of journal bearing. Moreover, for single-phase and two-phase flow models, the distribution features of oil film pressure are similar in convergent wedge zone while largely different in divergent part of the gap. The oil film pressure and vapor phase volume fraction notably vary on different whirl positions of the journal. We also observe that as whirl frequency increases, the oil film force gradually increases and the stability of journal bearing decreases rapidly before reaching a plateau. The efforts of this paper provide an efficient method to accurately evaluate the static and dynamic characteristics of journal bearing and offer a useful insight into the accurate analysis and design of journal bearing.

        Somatic embryos cultures of Vitis amurensis Rupr. in air-lift bioreactors for the production of biomass and resveratrol

        Resveratrol are the most important bioactive compounds found in Vitis amurensis. In this study, a somatic embryo induction system for V. amurensis was established in air-lift bioreactors for the production of biomass and resveratrol. The somatic embryos biomass growth was low on solid medium (69.60 g L−1) compared to in liquid medium in bioreactor (329.45 g L−1). Bioreactor cultures were found to be superior compared with solid medium culture not only in terms of biomass but also resveratrol productivity. Various culture parameters, including culture method, inoculum density, carbon source, and organic compounds were optimized. An inoculum density of 20 g L−1 embryogenic calli was found suitable for the accumulation of biomass and resveratrol production, whereas 10 g L−1 embryogenic calli increased the amount of resveratrol per fresh weight in somatic embryos. For bioreactor culturing, sucrose was an optimum carbon source and 500 mg L–1 casein hydrolysate acid was conducive to the biomass and resveratrol production. This result indicates that an efficient protocol for the large-scale production of resveratrol can be achieved by bioreactor culturing of V. amurensis somatic embryos and can be used as a source of medicinal raw materials.

        A trigonometric series expansion based method for the research of static and dynamic characteristics of eccentric seals

        Static and dynamic characteristics of labyrinth seals are important in the prediction of the stability of turbomachinery. The paper presentsan effective numerical method to predict the static and dynamic performance characteristics of seals at off-center conditions withdifferent rotor whirling frequency. Modifications are introduced for the traditional turbulent bulk flow model to consider the circumferentiallyvarying flow. A trigonometric series expansion method is used to approximate parameters such as pressure and velocity in sealscavity. Numerical simulations show that 8-10 series terms with 5-10 iterations are enough for the solution of this set of nonlinear equations. The resulting nonlinear algebraic equations can be solved rapidly. The analytical results are verified by comparison with the simulatedCFD results. Parametric investigations showing the influence of eccentricity and whirling frequency on seals dynamics are alsopresented. The results show that the trigonometric series expansion based method gives an effective prediction of the static and dynamiccharacteristics of the eccentric seals.

        A novel negative dislocated seal and influential parameter analyses of static/rotordynamic characteristics

        This paper proposes a new type of negative dislocated seal (NDS) based on the dislocated bearing theory to investigate the influential parameters of static rotor eccentricity and dislocated ratio on the static and rotordynamic characteristics of an example seal solved with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) the flow field. The rotordynamic characteristics of the NDS were investigated in respect of the effects of rotor whirling frequency on response force, stiffness coefficients, damping coefficients and rotor system stability, by multifrequency elliptical orbit rotor whirling model. Based on the studies, we reached the following conclusions. The circumferential pressure distribution of NDS and conventional labyrinth seal (LS) presents sine periodic variation approximately, while relative to the LS, the NDS has two divergent wedge gaps and reduces the hydrodynamic pressure effects, then the circumferential pressure difference and tangential force on rotor surface decreases by about 40 %~190 %. The leakage of the NDS linearly increases with the rising eccentricity ratio and dislocation ratio approximately, and is larger (about 0.9 %~1.5 %) than the LS. The direct stiffness coefficients of the two seals increase with the rise of rotor whirling frequency, while the absolute values of both the cross-coupled stiffness coefficients and the damping coefficients decrease with raising rotor whirling frequency. Compared with the LS, the NDS has smaller (about 28.8 %~206.2 %) cross-coupled stiffness coefficient, larger (about 26.15 %~60.39 %) effective damping coefficient, and good stability of rotor system. This study has developed a novel seal structure to improve the seal performance of turbomachinery such as aeroengine.

        Quality Evaluation of Five Commercial Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay Kits for Detecting Aflatoxin B<sub>1</sub> in Feedstuffs

        The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of five commercial enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits (A, B, C, D, and E) from different suppliers for detecting aflatoxin $B_1$ ($AFB_1$). $AFB_1$-free corn samples supplemented with different levels of $AFB_1$ (5, 10, and $20{\mu}g/kg$) were used as positive controls and 6 replicates of each control sample were tested to evaluate the accuracy and precision of these kits. In addition, we also evaluated the performance of these ELISA kits for $AFB_1$ in 30 feed samples, including corn, distillers dried grains with soluble, wheat samples, soybean meal, and poultry feed, which were verified by high performance liquid chromatography. Results showed that the coefficients of variation ranged from 1.18% to 16.22% in intra-plate and 2.85% to 18.04% in inter-plate for the determination of $AFB_1$. The half maximal inhibitory concentration for five kits ranged from 3.72 to $7.22{\mu}g/kg$. The quantitation limits of $AFB_1$ were all under the legal limit in China but somewhat inconsistent with kit instructions. Although the recovery rate of four of the five kits were either less than 90% or more than 110%, all these values were acceptable in practice. Two kits had high false positive rates (C and E). In conclusion, our results revealed that the qualities of five tested ELISA kits were significantly different.

        Ferroelectric polarization effect on hysteresis behaviors of single-walled carbon nanotube network field-effect transistors with lead zirconate-titanate gating

        We report the fabrication of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) network transistors by ferroelectric Pb(Zr0.4Ti0.6)O3 (PZT) bottom-gating and investigate the polarization effects of PZT on the transport properties of the transistor device. Our devices exhibit typical p-channel transistor characteristics and a large hysteresis loop with high ON/OFF current ratio and large ON current as well as memory window (MW) measured up to 5.2 V. The origin of clockwise hysteresis is attributed to ferroelectric polarization modulated charge trapping/de-trapping process in the interface states between SWCNT networks and PZT. The retention time about 104s with two high stable current states preliminarily demonstrates great potential for future non-volatile memory applications based on such SWCNT/PZT hybrid systems.
