        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Calmodulin-regulated protein phosphorylation plays a pivotal role in amplifying and diversifying the action of calcium ion. In this study, we identified a calmodulin-binding receptor-like protein kinase (CBRLK1) that was classified into an S-locus RLK family. The plasma membrane localization was determined by the localization of CBRLK1 tagged with a green fluorescence protein. Calmodulin bound specifically to a Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>-dependent calmodulin binding domain in the C-terminus of CBRLK1. The bacterially expressed CBRLK1 kinase domain could autophosphorylate and phosphorylates general kinase substrates, such as myelin basic proteins.       • 美國急進主義運動의 擡頭와 衰退要因硏究

        The purpose of this study is to explore the unfolding of the radical movement in the United States during the turn of this century. It particularly concerns about the factors determining the uprising of the radicalism at the end of the 19th century and its fall with the World War Ⅰ. The rise of American radical movement can be traced back to the industrializing era after the Civil War. It started as a reaction to the evils resulted from the rapid industrialization. Initially several movements broke out sporadically, however, until the radical ideology from Europe was flowed in. Then, the radical movement was accelerated. During this period, the leading figures who particularly influenced the development of the movement were: De Leon from the Socialist Labor Party; Gompers from the American Federation of Labor; Debs from the Socialist Party; and Haywood from the Industrial Workers of the World, etc. The movement in this era was unfolded the following historical phases: from 1870s to 1880s, the preparation stage of organizing the movement; 1890s, early action stage characterized by the Populist Movement, Pullman Strike, etc.; 1900s, the flourishing phase led by the Socialist Party and IWW; the declining phase was followed since the end of 1910s; after 1920s, American pragmatism again prevailed over radicalism. Factors attributed to the rise of the radical movement are: depravation of entrepreneurship; recurrent economic crises; deterioration of labor conditions; the influence of Marxism; and insensitive attitudes on the part of the capitalists and government. This paper also suggests the factors determining the decline of the movement: the rise of the American patriotism around the World War Ⅰ era; government's strong counteractions; anti-socialism prevailed by the negative impact of the Soviet Revolution; collapse of the movement organizations; economic recovery after the War; and the government's implementations of reforming policies. At conclusion, radicalism in the United States has played the preventive role against the risk of irreversible corruption of the Establishment and its rigidity.

        영아자(Phyteuma japonicum Miq.)의 성분 조성

        산채식물인 영아자(Horned Rampion ; Phyteuma japonicum Miq.)의 영양학적인 가치를 평가코져 야생 및 평지재배 시료를 잎과 줄기로 구분하여 일반성분, 비타민 C, 유리당, 무기물, 핵산관련물질, 구성 아미노산 및 유리아미노산을 분석하였다. 야생과 재배 영아자의 회분은 1.2∼2.7%의 범위였고, 조지방과 조단백질은 재배시료가 조섬유는 야생시료에서 더 높은 함량으로 정량되었고, 전당은 두 시료간에 대차를 보이지 않았다. 비타민 C는 줄기보다는 잎에서 재배시료보다는 야생시료에서 더 높게 정량되었다. 유리당은 야생 및 재배시료 모두 glucose, frucose 및 sucrose가 잎보다 줄기에서 높게 정량되었다. 무기물은 총 9종이 분석되었는데 이중 칼슘의 함량이 가장 높아 재배시료의 경우 잎은 34374.0㎎/㎏, 즐기는 9584.1㎎/㎏였고, 그 다음으로 칼륨, 마그네슘의 순으로 많았으며, 야생시료도 비슷한 경향을 보였다. 핵산 관련물질은 CMP, UMP, IMP, AMP 및 hypoxanthine이 동정되었는데 잎과 줄기 모두 야생시료에서는 hypoxanthine이, 재배시료에서는 AMP가 월등히 높게 정량되었다. 구성아미노산은 총 17종으로 야생시료에서는 glutamic acid, 재배시료는 잎의 경우 aspartic acid, 줄기의 경우 glutamic acid의 함량이 가장 많았다. 유리아미노산은 총 29종이 동정되었고 야생시료의 잎에서는 glutamic acid, 줄기에서는 γ-aminoisobutyric acid, 재배시료의 줄기에서는 asparagine이 가장 높은 함량으로 정량되었다. This research is to establish the basic data of the nutritive value and improve our diet. In the part of th leaf and stem of the wild cultivated horned rampion(Phyteuma japonicum Mig), the components such as chemical composition, vitamin C, free sugar, mineral, nucleotide and its related compounds, composition and free amino acid were analyzed one after another. Content of the crude lipids and proteins was determined much higher in its wildness than in its cultivated horned rampion ; while, that of carbohydrates was higher in the former than in the latter. The content of vitamin C was retained higher in the leaf than in the stem horned rampion. And the content of calcium among the detected minerals was outstanding in all of the samples collected, and potassium and magnesium was the next ones in its order. The main components of free sugars in both the wild and cultivated horned rampion were glucose and fructose, and their content was higher in the stem than in the leaf. Nucleotide and its related compounds were identified with 5 kinds of nuciotides such as CMP, UMP, IMP, AMP and hypoxanthine(Hx), and the content of Hx and AMP was the highest in the wild and cultivated samples, respcetively. In the composition amino acid of the wild horned rampion, glutamic acid, aspartic acid and phenylalanine was outstandingly abundant; while, such amino acid as methionine and proline was small and besides cysteine couldn't be detected in the stem. Total amounts of composition amino acid in the leaf was 2118.0 and 1120.1㎎% in the wild and cultivated sample, respectively. In the free amino acid of horned rampion, the total amount ranged from 8.5 to 50.1㎎%, which were lower level than that of composition amino acid. But the number of free amino acid was 29 kinds, which was bigger in its number than of composition amino acid detected 17 kinds.

        임신부의 인플루엔자 백신 접종률 및 관련요인

        Background : During seasonal influenza epidemics and previous pandemics, pregnant women have been at increased risk for complications related to influenza infection. Although influenza vaccination has been widely recommended to pregnant women and immunocompromised hosts, the vaccination rate is presumed to be low in pregnant women. This study was aimed to evaluate the vaccination rate and factors associated with Influenza vaccination among pregnant women, who are at high risk for developing complications from the influenza. Materials and Methods : This study was carried out by telephone survey from April, 2007 to August, 2007. Women who were in their second trimester of pregnancy or above,- during October, 2006 and February, 2007, the recommended vaccination period, and had given birth at Inha University Hospital were selected as the study population. Immunization status, general understanding, and factors associated with vaccination were evaluated. Results : Among a total of 506 eligible pregnant women, 227 (44.8%) responded to the questionnaires. The influenza vaccination rate among the pregnant women was only 4% (9/227). Major reasons for not receiving vaccination were first, not awaring the necessity of immunization during pregnancy (48.5%, 110/227) and second, misunderstanding that it is prohibited during pregnancy (36.1%, 82/227). The major factors that influenced the compliance of vaccination were correct understanding and doctor's recommendation on the influenza immunization during pregnancy. Conclusions : The influenza vaccine coverage on pregnant women was very low and the awareness of influenza vaccination during pregnancy in general was inaccurate. Shift in perception is required and this can be achieved by educating the pregnant women on the safety and efficacy of vaccination. In addition, doctors' active encouragement to vaccination is highly recommended.

      • 심근 Strain Rate 측정과 임상적용

        Evaluation of the deformation of a myocardial segment during the cardiac cycle could define regional myocardial properties. Strain is tissue deformation as a function of applied force(stress) and strain rate is a measurement of the rate of deformation. Strain rate is equivalent to the velocity gradient and can be estimated by using myocardial velocity gradient data which is obtained by tissue Doppler imaging technique. The values of systolic peak strain rate, diastolic E-strain rate, diastolic A-strain rate, isovolumic contraction-strain rate, systolic peak strain are measured from the strain rate curve and strain curve. A color coded strain rate imaging could define the areas of left ventricular wall motion abnormalities. These gradable and quantifiable new modalities could evaluate not only the global and regional myocardial function in various cardiovascular diseases including myocardial infarction, heart failure, cardiomyopathy and in stress echocardiography, but also the physiologic phenomenon of normal heart.

        연구기관의 인터넷 웹사이트 운영관리를 위한 웹사이트 평가 비교분석

        기존의 웹사이트의 구축목적은 조직의 홍보에 중점을 두었으나, IT기술 발전과 더불어 웹사이트의 목적은 단순한 정보제공기능을 능가하게 되었다. 연구기관의 웹사이트는 일반기업의 경우와는 달리 복합적인 성격을 가진다. 연구기관 웹사이트의 목적을 연구정보 제공, 교환 및 관리의 기능에 초점을 맞추어 보면, 웹사이트의 구축운영 과정에서 제공되어지는 다양한 정보는 효율적인 평가와 신뢰성있는 평가기준을 통해 정보의 질관리가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 현재 구축되어 운영중인 과학기술부/한국과학재단 지정 지역협력연구센터(RRC) 웹사이트 45개를 대상으로 한국웹사이트평가개발원의 3C-D-T 모형을 적용하여 내부사용자 관점과 외부전문가 관점으로 평가를 실시하였다. 내부사용자의 주관적 평가와 외부전문가의 객관적 평가 결과를 비교하는 것을 통해 도출된 요소를 분석함으로써 지역협력연구센터 웹사이트의 운영상 제기되고 있는 문제점들을 각 평가부문별로 제시하고 성공적인 웹사이트의 관리방안을 제시하고자 하였다.

        Q 열에 의한 감염성 심내막염 2예

        Q fever is a zoonosis caused by Coxiella burnetii, Presenting as acute and chronic illness and it has been reported worldwide. Acute Q fever is usually asymptomatic or mild and self-limiting, but infective endocarditis is one of the most serious complications of chronic Q fever and can be fatal. Known risk factors for Q fever endocarditis are valvular heart disease, immunocompromised hosts, and pregnancy. There have been some reports on Q fever in Korea but there exists no report on Q fever endocarditis. We have experienced 2 cases of Q fever with underlying valvular heart disease; both Patients came to the hospital for evaluation of prolonged fever. Although Q fever and Q fever endocarditis are rare in Korea, Q fever endocarditis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patient with infective endocarditis when causative microorganism cannot be identified.
