This paper aims at providing a concrete plan to improve technical and vocational teacher education in the College of Industrial Education of Chungnam National University. It is intended to propose a practical four-year regular and short-term course. Also, the estimated required facilities is included in this study as well as their management. The main conclusions and recommendations are summarized as follows; 1) The numbers of students enrollment should be reduced to 220 students which is the approximate number of future demand. 2) In order to offer to the students a broader education and to cope with the increase/decrease in demand of technical and vocational teacher within a specific field, the 8 department existing at the present (Department of Architecture Engineering Education, Civil Eng. Educ., Metallurgical Eng. Educ., Mechanical Eng. .Educ., Electrical Eng. Educ., Electronic Eng. Educ., Industrial Chemistry Educ. and Industrial Technology Educ.) would be combined into 5 (Department of Construction Engineering Education, Mechanical Eng. Educ., Electrical Eng. Educ., Industrial Chemistry Educ. and Industrial Technology Educ.). 3) The short-term course program is recommened to provide additional training and education to those candidates who already have experience in technical fields to meet an occasional demand. 4) It is necessary to add the Teaching Profession Section in the administrative organization of the College.

비만은 여러 질환의 위험요소로 알려져 있으며, 최근 비만에 대한 후보 유전자의 단일염기다형성(single nucleotide polymorphism, SNP)에 관한 연구가 급격히 증가하고 있다. 렙틴 수용체(leptin receptor, LEPR)는 체중 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 렙틴의 수용체이며 또한 지방 대사의 조절에도 관여한다. 본 연구의 목적은 이러한 LEPR 유전자의 다형성이 고지혈증, 고혈압 및 비만에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자, 263명의 실험 참여자를 분석하였다. LEPR 유전자의 액손(exon) 영역에서 3개(rs1137100, Lys109Arg, K109R; rs1137101, Gln223Arg, Q223R; rs8179183, Lys656Asn, K656N)의 missense SNP을 선정하고 염기서열 분석기를 이용하여 유전자형(genotype)을 분석하였다. SNPStats, HelixTree, SNPAnalyzer Pro 및 Haploview version 4.2 소프트웨어를 이용하여 데이터 분석을 하였다. 실험결과, rs1137101 (Q223R)의 유전자형과 rs8179183 (K656N)의 유전자형과 대립형질(allele)이 HDL-cholesterol의 혈중 농도와 관계가 있었다(rs1137101, p=0.024 in codominant1 model, p=0.039 in dominant model, p=0.011 in overdominant model; rs8179183, p=0.028 in dominant model, p=0.035 in overdominant model, p=0.026 in log-additive model, p=0.042 in allele frequencies). 또한, rs1137100 (K109R)의 대립형질과 rs1137101 (Q223R)의 유전자형과 대립형질은 고혈압에서 유의성을 보였다(rs1137100, p=0.044 in allele frequencies; rs1137101, p=0.010 in codominant1 model, p=0.012 in dominant model, p=0.013 in overdominant model, p=0.019 in log-additive model, p=0.014 in allele frequencies). 과체중/비만에서는 rs1137101 (Q223R)의 유전자형과 대립형질이 유의성을 나타냈다(rs1137101, p=0.027 in codominant1 model, p=0.015 in dominant model, p=0.029 in overdominant model, p=0.013 in log-additive model, p=0.014 in allele frequencies). 이러한 결과는 LEPR 유전자의 다형성이 고콜레스테롤혈증, 고혈압 및 비만 발생과 관련이 있음을 시사한다. Leptin is an adipocyte-specific hormone that regulates body weight. Leptin receptor (LEPR) is a receptor for leptin and plays a crucial role in the regulation of fat metabolism. To test the relationship between LEPR polymorphisms and dyslipidemia, hypertension, and obesity in Korean population, we analyzed 263 subjects. Three missense single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (rs1137100, Lys109Arg, K109R; rs1137101, Gln223Arg, Q223R; rs8179183, Lys656Asn, K656N) in the coding region of the LEPR gene were selected and genotyped by direct sequencing. SNPStats, SNPAnalyzer Pro, and HelixTree programs were performed to obtain odds ratio (OR), 95% confidence interval (CI), and p value. Haploview version 4.2 was used to determine the linkage disequilibrium (LD) block and haplotypes among three SNPs. Multiple logistic regression models were conducted to analyze of genetic data. Two missense SNPs were associated with the HDL-cholesterol levels (rs1137101, p=0.024 in codominant1 model, p=0.039 in dominant model, p=0.011 in overdominant model; rs8179183, p=0.028 in dominant model, p=0.035 in overdominant model, p=0.026 in log-additive model, p=0.042 in allele frequencies). Two missense SNPs were also associated with hypertension (rs1137100, p=0.044 in allele frequencies; rs1137101, p=0.010 in codominant1 model, p=0.012 in dominant model, p=0.013 in overdominant model, p=0.019 in log-additive model, p=0.014 in allele frequencies). One missense SNP was related to the development of overweight/obese (rs1137101, p=0.027 in codominant1 model, p=0.015 in dominant model, p=0.029 in overdominant model, p=0.013 in log-additive model, p=0.014 in allele frequencies). These results suggest that LEPR polymorphisms may be associated with hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, and obesity in Korean population. (Korean J Str Res 2011;19:155∼163)

Thyrotoxic hypokalemic periodic paralysis is infrequent but serious condition characterized by proximal muscle weakness associated with hypokalemia, sometimes present as fl accid paralysis. Glucocorticoids are commonly used in the treatment of patients with thyroid disease such as ophthalmopathy. We report a case of hypokalemic periodic paralysis following intravenous methyl-prednisolone in a young man without history of Grave`s disease or paralysis.A 32-years-old man was diagnosed dacryoadenitis by ophthalmologist at fi rst and intravenous methyl-prednisolone 125mg was administered two times in a day. After 1 hour of last dose, he developed progressive fl accid paralysis in both lower legs. Biochemical testing to evaluate cause of paralysis revealed hyperthyroidism with hypokalemia. Methimazole was prescribed then it changed into prophylthiouracil due to chest discomfort. After a week, rechallenge with same dose for the treatment of ophthalmpathy, he developed progressive paralysis in the lower extremities. Clinicians shouldbe careful about administering high-dose glucocorticoids in thyrotoxic patients becausethere is a risk of provoking hypokalemic paralysis.
홑파래로부터 추출한 Rhamnan Sulfate의 항보체 활성

홑파래로부터 황산기를 함유한 다당체를 크로마토그래피로 분리정제하여 rhamnan sulfate가 항보체 활성화에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 항보체 활성능력은 F-4-3 획분을 비교군으로 Heparin H-180, Dextran과 비교해 결과 비교군보다 높았고, C4a와 C3a의 convertase의 형성과 기능을 F-4-3 획분이 억제하였다. 이러한 보체 활성화 양식은 classical pathway 및 alternative pathway로도 경유함을 알 수 있었다. The anti-compliment activity of hemolytic complementary assay(TCH_50) of rhamnan sulfate fraction obtained from water extracts of Monostroma nitidum was investigated Rhamnan sulfate Fraction, F-4-3 fraction appeared relatively strong anti-complementary activity which decreased TCH_50 over 60% than that comparison with control, and F-4-3 considerably inhibited ACH50 F-4-3 inhibited formation of the classical pathway C3 convertase or C4 cleavage. The results also indicatd the mode of complement activation by F-4-3 fraction shows not only the classical pathway but also the alternative pathway.

Fibroelastolytic papulosis is proposed as the diagnostic term for cases previously identified as pseudoxanthoma elasticum-like papillary dermal elastolysis and white fibrous papulosis of the neck. Clinical presentation of fibroelastolytic papulosis is asymptomatic to mildly pruritic whitish-yellow papules that may coalesce into cobblestone-patterned plaques resembling pseudoxanthoma elasticum. Histology is characterized by normal, decreased, or absent elastic fibers in the papillary dermis sometimes accompanied by a thickening of collagen fibers. We report a 60-year-old woman with flesh to yellowish colored papules with cobblestone appearance, which were histologically consistent with fibroelastolytic papulosis.
