맥파전도속도(PWV)를 이용한 체질별 죽상동맥경화 위험인자에 대한 상관관계 연구

Object : The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of atherosclerosis risk factors and pulse wave velocity (PWV) of carotid-femoral artery with Sasang constitution. This study also aimed to investigate the relationship between PWV and risk factors of atherosclerosis, including serum cholesterol and homosisteine, hs-CRP. Methods : We enrolled 160 patients without experience strokes who visited our hospital for a medical examination from January 1, 2008 to April 30, 2010 except patients whose body constitutions were undetermined according to QSCCII. We investigated the correlation between serum cholesterol values, blood pressure, body mass index(BMI), homosistein, hs-CRP and PWV. Pearson's correlation and partial correlation analysis were applied to examine the relationship between PWV and risk factors of atherosclerosis. Result : Among the 160 subjects, 54 were Taeumin, 54 were Soyangin, and 52 were Soeumin. The prevalences of high BMI (P-value <0.01), high hs-CRP(P-value <0.05), and high PWV(P-value <0.05) of Taeumin were higher than those of the other constitutions. PWV of carotid-femoral artery was significantly different among the three constitutional groups(Taeumin: $8.12{\pm}1.64m/sec$, Soyangin: $7.48{\pm}1.16m/sec$, Soeumin: $7.49{\pm}1.12m/sec$)(P-value <0.05). This research has show a statistical significance between the average amount of carotid-femoral artery PWV that is higher in Taeumin. Age factor of Taeumin was the effective determinant of the increase of mean PWV of carotid-femoral arteries. Conclusions : There were significant differences in the prevalence of atherosclerosis according to Sasang constitution. This study showed that atherosclerosis was more prevalent in Taeumin. Therefore, according to our results, risk of atherosclerosis was higher in Taeumin than among other constitutions.

기억 속에 감춰둔 욕망의 서사 - 카즈오 이시구로의 『부유하는 세상의 화가』 읽기 -

이 논문은 카즈오 이시구로(Kazuo Ishiguro)의 『부유하는 세상의 화가』(An Artist of the Floating World)에 나타난 기억의 왜곡과 조작 문제를 1인칭 서술자 마쓰지 오노(Masuji Ono)의 서사화 과정을 통해 분석해 보고자 한다. 서술자는 자신의 인생에서 은폐하고 싶은 부끄러운 과거사를 현재의 관점을 투영하여 재조합하면서 실제 자신과 다른, 현실에서 보다 수용 가능한 자아상을 만들어낸다. 뿐만 아니라 그의 서사에는 과거 일본 군국주의 이데올로기에 부역했던 부끄러운 행적을 윤색하기 위해 국가와 민족의 번영이라는 공적인 가치를 합리화의 명분으로 제시한다. 하지만 서술자의 삶의 자취를 복기해 볼 때, 그가 내세운 거대담론들은 결국 세속적인 욕망을 달성하기 위한 구실에 불과했다는 사실을 확인해 볼 수 있다. 이시구로는 첫 소설 『희미한 언덕 풍경』(A Pale View of the Hill)에서처럼 이 작품에서도 서술자의 억압된 감정 또는 대면하고 싶지 않은 과거의 경험들을 기억, 회상과 같은 현재와 과거가 뒤섞이는 시간 처리 방식으로 엮어가고 있다. 이 과정에서 기억은 과거 사건에 대한 진실을 복원하기 위한 보조적인 수단이라기보다 서술자의 현재 서사적 목표를 달성하기 위한 매개로서 작동하고 있다. 이러한 관점에서 『부유하는 세상의 화가』는 서술자가 자기방어를 위해 기억의 가변성과 불완전성을 어떻게 활용하고 있는지에 주목하면서 읽을 때, 표면화된 서사 이면에 감추어진 은폐와 노출의 긴장관계를 포착할 수 있을 것이다. This paper aims to examine the issue of distortion and manipulation of memory in Kazuo Ishiguro’s An Artist of the Floating World. In this novel, the first person narrator, Masuji Ono, tries to make more acceptable self-narrative from the perspective of present by manipulating his memory. Therefore, his account is not basically the truth but a kind of contrivance to accomplish narrator’s narrative goal of rationalizing his shameful past as an artist for Japanese militarism. On top of that, he draws the public value and faith under the name of the prosperity of the nation polishing his political activities. However, as the narrative unfolds his self-rhetoric of his personality and career path clashes with others’ assessments, we can trace his hidden desire to be a man with power. In this regard, Ono’s narrative is a fiction woven with the malleability of memory to make his life look more tolerable in reality.

This paper aims to examine the oppressed feminine values such as freedom, affectivity, and individuality under the rein of British imperialism in The Remains of the Day. In this novel, the narrator with a strong vocational faith as a butler of Darlington Hall surrenders all of his initiatives to his master. As a result, accomplishing his lord’s sublime ideas of contributing to the history of civilization became his own reason of existence. However, this kind of world-view based upon a hierarchy system orients to totalitarian society, an extended model of patriarchy excluding female and femininity in both house and society. In this regard, this article attempts to recover the silenced voices and ideas of the female characters such as Kenton, a lover of Stevens, and Sarah and Luth, expelled Jewish maids. Bearing the structural similarity between imperialism and patriarchy in mind, this paper tries to illuminate the hidden features in Stevens’ memory narrative with which he polishes his shameful past. In this process, we will find out his narrative, a sort of travel essay works for recognizing his position looked through broader views and for liberating his life-long repression. Throughout the six-day journey of searching for the lost things in his entire life, Stevens finds the clue to be an independent human being rather than a servant of anybody.

갤것의 『약속』에 나타난 말과 수행의 이탈이 드러낸 남아공 사회의 아이러니

이 논문은 2021년 맨 부커(Man Booker) 상 수상작인 데이먼 갤것(Damon Galgut)의 『약속』(The Promise)에 나타난 기호의 기표-기의의 자의적인 관계에 주목하면서, 공동체와 유리되어 파편화된 개인의 이중성을 규명하는데 목표를 둔다. 서사를 이끌어 가는 핵심사건은 주인공 아모르(Amor)의 엄마 레이첼(Rachel)이 암으로 생을 마감하기 직전 자신을 성심으로 돌보아 준 흑인 하녀 살로메(Salome)에게 보답의 의미로 허름한 집 한 채를 증여해 달라는 부탁에서부터 시작된다. 그리고 이 말은 레이첼의 남편 마니(Manie)에게 긍정적인 화답을 이끌어내며 부부 간 신뢰를 담보로 체결된 고인의 유언, 마지막 약속이 되어 버렸다. 레이첼 사망 당시 남아공 사회는 인종차별정책(Apartheid)이 시행되었던 시기였기 때문에 흑인의 사유재산권이 인정되지 않았다. 이 때문에 유족들은 장례식 이후 약속을 실체화하지 못하는 것에 나름의 도덕적 명분을 확보할 수 있었다. 그러나 가부장 마니가 죽은 1994년 남아공은 최초로 흑인 민주정권이 들어서면서 차별금지법이 사라지자 약속은 겉도는 기표가 아닌 하나의 실체로서 가시화될 수 있으리라는 기대감을 고조시킨다. 그럼에도 마니의 유언장 어디에도 살로메의 지분에 대한 언급은 찾아 볼 수 없다. 이는 당시 사회는 법과 제도적으로 한 차원 달라진 것처럼 보였지만 백인들의 기득권 수호를 위한 이중적인 행태는 여전히 공고하게 유지되고 있었다는 남아공 사회의 부조리한 현실을 읽어내게 한다. 본론에서는 ‘약속’이라는 기호의 기표와 기의가 절대적인 의미화의 토대 안에서 작동되지 않기 때문에 레이첼의 유언에 대한 가족 구성원들의 해석과 반응이 화자의 의도와 달리 파편화되면서 아이러니한 상황을 만들어낸 남아공 사회의 균열과 모순을 조명해 보겠다. 서사 안에서 대부분의 등장인물들이 보였던 표리부동한 행태와 달리 발화-수행의 일치된 삶을 추구하고자 했던 아모르의 약속 실현 여정을 탐색하는 것이 논의의 핵심이 될 것이다. This paper aims to analyze the fragmented individuals floating away from the community in pursuit of their private interests and secular desires in Damon Galgut’s The Promise. In the process of developing the argumentation, I will draw upon the concept of structural linguistics that represents the “arbitrary” relation between the signifier and the signified, as led by Ferdinand de Saussure. In this narrative, the promise entailing the white family’s commitment to give a house to the black maid, Salome has remained unfulfilled for about thirty years. Initially, the pledge was made by the late Ma, suffering from cancer, sought to express her gratitude for Salome’s care and nursing. At first, systemic constraints caused by apartheid hindered the realization of the promise; however, after subsequent social and political turmoil, the remaining family members’ prejudice towards blacks persisted. In this regard, this paper will shed light on the irony and absurdity triggered by the alienation between the signifier and signified, word and performance, and ultimately, community and individuals. In contrast to most characters who embody duality and snobbism, the protagonist, Amor, strives to fulfill Ma’s promise. This paper will closely examine Amor’s psychological and physical journey to attain ethical goals toward others, including Salome. Her body, as a living signifier of the promise, will be the main focus of the paper.

Objectives : Woohwangchungsim-won has been used for acute diseases such as cerebrovascular disease (stroke), heart disease. The aim of this study was to determine the effects, significance & necessity of Woohwangchungsim-won in acute stages of these disease by reviewing Korean articles about Woohwangchungsim-won. Methods : Article searches were performed on 8 major Korean web article search engine from January 1980 to August 2010. There were no restrictions on the types of publication, including grey articles. Results : Forty-three articles were included. Twenty one were efficacy tests, thirteen were comparative efficacy tests, eight were toxicity tests, and one was new method development. Eighteen articles were multicenter studies and twenty five were single center studies. Thirty two articles were animal testing, only ten articles were clinical articles. Thirty seven articles presented the composition and quantity of Woohwangchungsim-won, but six did not. Conclusions : The results of Korean articles about Woohwangchungsim-won can not strongly support the effects, significance & necessity of Woohwangchungsim-won. More rigorous studies are required for determination of the effects of Woohwangchungsim-won.
