Study of decreased melanin production through p53 by heme oxygenase-1 inhibitor in normal human melanocytes

Background: Heme oxygenase (HO)-1 is induced by oxidative stress and plays important roles in anti-apoptosis and the rapid growth of several solid tumors. p53 has a central role in skin pigmentation and may impact onmelanoma at all stages. However, there has been little study of HO-1 in relation with p53 on melanin production Objectives: To know the effect of HO-1 on melanogenesis through p53 in normal human melanocytes Methods: Human melanocytes (hM) were primarily cultured from foreskin. After incubation, cells were rinsed twice with PBS then transfection with p53 siRNA Results: Melanin content was detected with ELISA and Western blot analysis and RT-PCR of tyrosinase, MITF were performed after ZnPP treatment and p53 transfection. After ZnPP treatment, melanin content was decreased, and tyrosinase and MITF protein levels were decreased. Tyrosinase and MITF mRNA levels were also decreased. However, melanin content and tyrosinase and MITF protein levels were increased after CoPP treatment. After p53 transfection, HO-1 expression was decreased when HO-1 stimulator was treated. In addition, melanin content was decreased, and tyrosinase expression was decreased in Western blot analysis Conclusion: These results suggest that melanogenesis is inhibited by ZnPP by decreased melanin production, tyrosinase and MITF protein and mRNA levels. Furthermore, those inhibitory effects of ZnPP may be dependent on p53 in normal human melanocytes. Therefore, HO-1 may play an important role in melanogensis

현행 중학교 과학 실험·실습교육에 대한 교사들의 견해와 개선방안

The status of facilities, management of the experiment, practices, and Science education teaching method in middle school have been investigated. The present status and reasonable management of middle school science education have been grasped from the questionaires. The results are as follows : The reasonable management for expeiments and practices of science education were scanty in the middle school around the urban and rural schools owing to the shortage of facilities and equipments, crowded class, excessive classes, work for teachers, excessive contents of present textbook and insufficience of administrative support etc. The current teaching method of middle school science has emphasized knowledge. This fact does not satisfy the objective of learning due to lack of teaching method. Desirable directions for the improvement of present status of middle school science education were proposed in this paper.

The purpose of this study was carried out an epidemiological survey on the prevalence rate of the canine heartworms in Seoul City and the districts of Pa-Ju, Seong-Nam and Po-Chon in Kyonggi province of Korea from September 1994 to the end of September 1995. The blood samples from 292 male and 193 female dogs (pet, 363 ; fighting dogs, 60 ; working dogs, 62) were examined for the adult heartworms cuticle antibodies using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELSA) kits. The test was designed to detect the antibodies of the host against the specific cuticle antigens produced with the adult heartworms.

본 연구는 96년도에 실시한 우리 나라 중학교 과학 실험·실습 교육의 실태 조사 연구에 따른 계속 연구의 일환으로 고등학교 과학 실험·실습 교육의 실태를 조사하기 위한 것이다. 연구내용은 고등학교 과학 교과서의 분석, 실험·실습 실시 현황 분석, 현행 실험·실습 교육의 문제점 분석, 현행 학교 구성원들의 실험·실습 교육 운영 실태 조사 및 현행 실험·실습 교육의 개선을 위한 연구과제 도출을 주요 연구내용으로 다루었다. 연구방법은 전국의 고등학교 80개교를 대상으로 이들 학교의 학생 1,977명, 교사 165명, 학교장 80명에게 적용하였다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 결과를 중심으로 우리 나라 고등학교 과학 실험 실습 교육의 정상화를 위한 실험 내적인 연구과제를 제시하면 다음과 같다. (1)교재 개발에 대한 연구, (2)실험 킷트 개발에 대한 연구, (3)교사교육 및 재교육 프로그램 개발에 대한 연구, (4)교실 밖 실험·실습 활동 프로그램 개발에 대한 연구, (5)과학 실험·실습 소재의 개발에 대한 연구. 서울의 Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae 발생빈도(1998)

In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

고등학교 지구과학 실험·실습 요목 비교 분석

The purpose of this study is to investigate the status of the experimental and practical education in high school earth. The present status and reasonable management of the experimental and practical education in high school earth science have been grasped from the questionaires. To do this, eighty eight earth science teachers in Korea are administered questionaires. The frequency of the experimental and practical items in the seven kind of earth science text books were investigated. The problems and the reasonable management for experimental and practical education were proposed in this paper.

소화관내 이물에 대한 고찰

We analyzed records at Chonnam university hospital from Sep. 1. 1993 to Aug. 31. 1996 to assess clinical significance of the foreign body in the gastrointestinal tract. There were 133 episodes consisting of 79 pediatric and 54 adult patients as possible to review. In the pediatric patients, the coin was the most common cause of foreign body ingestion, while adult patients were usually caused by bones and meat. We removed foreign bodies in the oral cavity and oropharynx in 12 cases using direct laryngopharyngoscpy and forcep. Endoscopy was performed successfully in 47 of 51 patients in which was attempted; there were two complications composed of an aspiration pneumonia and a mediastinitis due to esophageal perforation. There were spontaneous passage of foreign bodies in 48 cases. We observed complications in 6 cases in which 4 cases needed operations due to complications. Foreign bodies which pass into the stomach can be observed for development of complications, as 94% of foreign bodies which reach the stomach spontaneously pass. Only 4 patients required interventions, which was done without mortality.

This study was carried out to improve the organic farming system about crop cultivation, compost production and application, plant diseases & pest control, weed control and marketing system of organic farming products to the case study in Chungnam Hongdong area. Agricultural technologies concerning pest & diseases control, weed control and compost production are not established due to lacks of systemized researches by the agricultural scientist, and agricultural machines profitable to this works had not developed yet. In cropping system, reasonable crop rotation had not conducted. The related cultivation of vegetables on the same ground for a long time cause a various plant disease easily. So crop rotation is a reasonable method about soil nutrient utility and soil disease control. It is a good method that introduce the barley and wheat in this field crop system. Those crop have a long root, so can use the other nutrient against the vegetable. In organic farming products, the safety and quality of products by the National Agricultural Products Inspection Center had not inspected except rice, lettus and apple. Inspection is needed for the development of organic farming and mutual confidence between producer and consumer, because the mutual confidence is a major thing to sustain the organic farming. In products marketing, it is more need for the information of organic farming products. Nowaday most products are marketed in Seoul region, but it is not a good method. To search the consumer in near region is a good method for decrease the cost of conveyance and maintain the quality of products. The varieties of distribution structure of organic farming products are required. The products are sold to department store in large city and the prices are about 30% higher than normal products. But when those are supplied in near region, the prices of those are similar to normal products. Direct transactions in near regions is a good method for decrease the cost of conveyance and strength the mutual confidence between producer and consumer.

Lateral arm free flap을 이용한 수부 및 족부손상의 재건술

Nowadays soft tissue coverage and restoration of functional deficit with free flap is popular. Free flap transfer is highly versatile procedure and it has high donor site variety. Medial arm free flap is composed of thin, hairless, pliable and good color matched skin. Major disadvantages, however, are the small size of the artery and the inconstancy of the anatomy. lateral arm free flap, as described by Song(1882), Katsaros(1984), is supplied by the posterior radial collateral artery, a terminal branch of profunda brachii artery. The artery is constantly 1.5 to 2.0mm in diameter, providing a vacular pediclle of 7 to 8cm. the flap is centered over the lateral intermuscular septum on a line that joins the deltoid insertion and the lateral epicondyle. The artery is accompanied by two venae comitantes in all cases. The venase comitantes reaches 2.5mm in dameter maximally and accompanied with posterior cutaneous nerve of the arm. Other advantage of the flap is the fact that simultaneous two team dissection of donor and recipient site is available. We have performed 11cases of lateral arm free flap in hand and foot injuries ; three for soft tissue coverage along with tendon and bone, five for cortrture release, one for coverage of exposed proximeal phalanx of great tae, one for coverage of exposed plate at ankle, one for coverage of exposed tendon at dorsum of the foot and the result was relatively good in both flap and donor site.
