The purpose of this paper is to redesign, compare, and study using bi-directional shape memory alloy spring to compensate for the shortcomings of the existing fire damper performance. Through the spring constant measurement experiment, using the difference in force between the coil spring and the shape memory alloy spring, the damper closes when the set temperature is reached, and opens again when the temperature is lowered. In addition, the internal structure was redesigned through smoke leakage experiments. As a result, semi-permanent usable dampers were modeled.

The authors surveyed one-hundred women whithin 24-36 hours after delivary for the evaluation of low back pain in pregnancy. It showed that 55% of them suffered from low back pain during pregnancy. Low back pains mostly started form 6-9 months of gestational age. Low back pains were tolerable at 84% of them. And low back pains were not aggravated during pregnancy among the 67% of low back pain pregnant women. Leg pains were noted at 34% of low back pain group.

Glass ceramics for dental crown prosthesis were prepared by heat-treatment of CaO-MaO-SiO₂-P₂O -TiO₂glasses. The crystallization behaviors of samples have been investigated as a function of heat-treated temperature, holding time and chemical composition with their mechanical properties. From the experiment, the following results were obtained: The nucleation rate of apatite increased with increasing CaO or P₂O and decreasing MgO or TiO₂. Vickers hardness and bending strength of samples increased with increasing MgO or TiO₂ and decreasing CaO or P₂O. Vickers hardness of samples increased due to the precipitation of apatite, whitlockite, β-wollastonite, magnesium titanate, and diopside crystal phases within glass matrix. The final crystalline phase assemblages and the microstructures of the samples were found to be dependent on glass compositions, heat-treatment temperature, and holding time.
알지네이트 비드를 이용한 메틸 오렌지의 봉입 및 방출에 미치는 키토산의 영향

In this study, methyl orange-loaded alginate beads were prepared and compared to investigate the effect of chitosan on the encapsulation and release of hydrophilic methyl orange in alginate beads. Particle size and encapsulation efficiency of alginated beads were determined. Swelling ratio and disintegration of al-ginate beads were investigated in gastrointestinal environment. Particle size of beads was 1.1-1.5 mm and shape was spherical. Weight of beads was increased depending on the content of chitosan. Content of chitosan affected on the encapsulation of methyl orange. Encapsulation of methyl orange in alginate beads without chitosan was 15%, while encapsulation efficiency was increased with addition of chitosan. Beads were not disintegrated in HCl solution (pH 1.2) within 4 h, with floating and swelling. Swelling ratio of beads was in-creased to 222%. Release of methyl orange from alginate beads without chitosan was up to 70% within 2 h in HCl solution (pH 1.2). When chitosan was added to the alginate beads, release of methyl range from beads was significantly reduced. It is supposed that release of methyl orange from beads is resulted from diffusion and erosion of beads, which is pH-dependent. In condusion, chitosan-alginate beads have potentials to control release of small hydrophilic drugs by the addition of chitosan.

This study was made to isolate anaerobic bacteria from the rectal swabs of normal healthy persons and determine the normal flora of the intestine. Rectal swab specimens were obtaianed from normal healthy adults in Seoul. As the processes of bacteriological study, anaerobic bacteria were cultured in thioglycollate semisolid broth and isolated on brain heart infusion blood supplement agar plates, and biological properties were examined including the hemolysis on blood agar plated, gas production in the fluid media. Biochemical test was performed by Minitek Anaerobic Set (BBL^*) in anaerobic Gas Pak Jar (BBL^*) The result is as followings: 1. Among the 110 rectal swab specimens, 187 strains of anaerobic bacteria were isolated. The isolates included 88 straing (47.1%) of Gram positive bacilli, 74 strains (39.5%) of Gram negative bacilli and 25 strains (13.3%) of Gram positive cocci. 2. After preservation at-80 C in thioglycollate broth, only 134 strains (71.1%) of isolates survived. Theses survivors included 76 strains of Gram positive bacilli (survival rate 86.4%), 38 strains of Gram negative bacilli (survival rate 51.4%), and 20 strains of Gram positive cocci (survival rate 80.8%). 3. From these strains, 50 strains were randomly selected by the ratio of morphologic groups of isolates for the sugar fermentation and other biochemical tests. Among these selectes and tested straing, the determined were : Eubacterium aeroficiens 27 strains(54.0%) Bacteroiaes melaninogenicus 7 strains (14.0%) Peptostreptococcus produtus 6 strains (12.0%) Eubacterium limosum 1 strains (2.0%) and the undetermined strains were : Gram negative bacilli 7 strains (14.0%) Gram positive bacilli 1 strain (2.0%) Gram negative cocci 1 strain (2.0%)
