        Afferent loop syndrome is an uncommon complication of a gastrectomy and Billroth Ⅱ reconstruction. It may cause symtoms at any time from the first postoperative day to many years after the gastrectomy. Afferent loop syndrome is characterized by abdominal pain, vomiting and elevation of serum amylase. Thus, it is difficult to differentiate afferent loop syndrome from other cause of acute pancreatitis. However, the history of gastrectomy can be an important clue for diagnosing afferent loop syndrome. We experienced one case of chronic afferent loop syndrome with acute pancreatitis. After appropriate management, the abdominal pain disappeared and serum amylase level decreased. We report this case with a review of relevant literatures.

        For the reactor vessel of the fossil power plants and petrochemical plant operating under high temperature and high pressure, Cr-Mo steels are commonly used. Thus, it is important to predict the remaining service life of the structural component in order to avoid a serious damage in human life and economy, resulting from the unexpected failure of the component due to the temper embrittlement under the severe operating condition for a long period of time. Microstructural changes such as the formation in solute element zone precipitation and growth of coarse precipitates, segregation of impurities a grainboundary due to the long period of operation cause the changes in electrochemical such as corrosion resistance, etching characteristics, polarization characteristics and material properties such as material hardening, softening embrittlement, and physical properties such as electric resistance, inductance acoustic characteristics. Therefore, in order to evaluate the remaining service life of component in a nondestructive manner, grainboundary etching method(GEM) and small punch(SP) have been used. In this research, however, electrochemical polarization method was proposed to nondestructively evaluate the material degradation of the structural component by using a currentpotential curve that can be determinaed from an electrochemical polarization experiment. Comparison of the current density obtained from the electrochemical polarization method and the shift in FATT(Fracture Appearance Transition Temperature) from the Charpy V-notch test and the Shift in DBTT(Ductile Brittlement Transition temperature) from the small punch test and surface roughness of grain from chemical etching test was mace to find correlation between them. The results are summarized as follows : Electrochemical polarization method showed a clear difference in minimum current density(Ir) according td the degree of material degradation. There is a nice correlation between the minimum current density from the EPR and (△FATT)cvn from CVN test. A good relationship of current density and (△DBTT)sp from the SP test was found in Cr-Mo steel. There is good relationship between the degree of material degradation and surface roughness of GEM. The GEM was successfully used as a non-destructive evaluation method of material degradation, compared to the SP and EPR test.

        Fungus such as Candida albicans is a normal flora that is frequently found in the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract, vaginal mucosa in a normal person. However, candida can cause opportunistic infection in an immune compromised host. Candidiasis has broad spectrum of disease from mucocutaneous infection to invasive or disseminated infection. But, it is rarely reported that candida is associaed with gastrointestinal tract disease in a healthy adult. The case of gastric ulcer associated with candida particularly in a health adult is reported with relevant literature.

      • Analysis of Genetic Diversity of Korean Wheat Cultivars Using Microsatellite DNA Polymorphisms

        Genetic background and phylogenetic relationships among 20 Korean wheat cultivars were assessed using microsatellites after amplifying with 13 SSR primer pairs. Average allele number per primer pair was 3.36. Genetic similarities for every pair of cultivars ranged from 0.42 to 0.97, with 0.69 of overall average. Korean cultivars were divided into two major groups based on microsatellite DNA polymorphisms. Group I consisted of relatively old cultivars developed until 1970s, and group II contained the recent cultivars developed during 1980s and 1990s. Amongst old elite cultivars/lines, ‘Yukseung 3’, ‘Norin 12’ and ‘Norin 72’ contributed most to the genetic background of cultivars belonging to group I, and ‘Norin 4’, ‘Norin 12’, ‘Norin 43’ and ‘Norin 72’ to group II, respectively. The phylogenetic relationship of Korean wheat cultivars was in accordance with the genealogical data of each cultivar. The genetic background of each cultivar was assessed from the point of breeding and germplasm management such as variety identification and duplicated accessions for assisting in developing a system for the registration of new variety based on the molecular characterization in future.

      • 무가압 분말 충전 성형법을 이용한 SiC/C 복합체의 제조

        The new forming method which uses vibratiry powder packing followed by infiltration of binder solutions, Pressureless Powder Packing-Forming Method, was applied to the manufacturing of SiC/C composites. From the result of vibratory powder packing and binder infiltration experiment with various particle sizes, the abrasive SiC powder of which mean size is 40㎛ was selected because of its high packing density and no agglomeration in this forming method. Uniform green bodies with narrow pore size distribution and complex shapes could be easily formed by this new forming method. It was found that amorphous carbon was pentrated into green bodies by the impregnation-carbonization process. As a result, this forming method can be applied to the fabrication of SiC/C composite.

        하악골 전돌증 환자에서 양악 수술과 하악 단독 수술의술 후 안정성에 관한 연구

        Le-Fort I Osteotomy is considered by many surgeons to be a safe and predictable method for correcting various dentofacial deformities. However, there are controversial options concerning the stability of two-jaw surgery (Le-Fort I osteotomy and sagittal split ramus osteotomy) compared to single mandibular surgery (sagittal split ramus osteotomy). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the post-operative stability of mandible in two-jaw surgery and single mandibular surgery, to help the establishment of accurate treatment planning in patients with a skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion. There were 15 patients who had been undergone two-jaw surgery and 20 patients who had been undergone single mandibular surgery. Lateral cephalograms of these 2groups ; Preoperation and immediate post-operation, postoperatively 1month, postoperatively 3months, at the latest follow up(>6months) ; were analyzed by linear measurement to evaluate changes in position (hard tissue B, Pogonion point) and compare repapse both group. The results obtained were as follows ; In view of B-point, the horizontal repapse rate of single mandibular surgery was 10.17% at post-op 1month, 12.52% at post-op 3months, 13.01% at post-op 6months and two-jaw surgery was 10.23% at post-op 1month, 11.84% at post-op 3months, 12.97% at post-op 1month, 11.33% at post-op 3months, 12.01% at post-op 6months in two-jaw surgery. In terms of vertical relapse rate, rates of B point were 22.96% at post-op 1month, 28.30% at post-op 3months, 29.56% at post-op 6months in single mandibular surgery and 21.14% at post-op 1month, 25.45% at post-op 3months, 28.86% at post-op 6months in two-jaw surgery. Those of Pogonion point were 26.63% at post-op 1month, 28.40% at post-op 3months, 29.29% at post-op 6months in single mandibular surgery and 20.20% at post-op 1month, 25.44% at post-op 3months, 27.68% at post-op 6months in two-jaw surgery. There were no statistical difference between single mandibular surgery and two-jaw surgery in mandibular stability.

      • 명태 및 오징어 액화단백질농축물의 제조 및 품질안정성

        This study was designed to prepare liquefied Alaska pollack (Theragra chalcogramma) and squid (Ommasterephes bartrami) protein concentrates with proteolytic enzyme by spray drying. The whole Alaska pollack and squid were chopped and mixed with same amount of water and then hydrolyzed by the proteolytic enzymes. The optimum conditions for hydrolysis of Alaska pollack were 55℃, pH 7.0 and 5 hr by bromelain (0.3%) digestion, 55℃, pH 7.0 and 5 hr by papain (0.5%) digestion, and 50℃, pH 7.0 and 3 hr by commercial Complex enzyme (3.0%) digestion, respectively. Their conditions in squid were 55℃, pH 7.0 and 4 hr by bromelain (0.3%) digestion, 50℃, pH 7.0 and 5 hr by papain (0.5%) digestion, and 50℃, pH 7.0 nad 4 hr by commercial Complex enzyme (3.0%) digestion, respectively. Alaska pollack and squid protein hydrolysates by commercial proteolytic enzyme (Complex enzyme) could be decolorized by the treatment with 15% and 20% activated chacoal, respectively. The hydrolysates were concentrated to Brix 25% with rotary vacuum evaporator, and then dried with spray dryer in conditions of inlet temp., 185℃ and outlet temp., 85℃. Liquefied Alaska pollack and squid protein concentrates were packed in cans and checked the keeping qualities such as solubility in water, soluble nitrogen, relative viscostiy, emulsifying stability (ES) and color during storage for six months at 5℃, 20℃ and 35℃. The liquefied Alaska pollack and squid protein concentrates by spray drying had an excellent functional properties. The quality of products were maintained until six months storage at 5℃ and 20℃ in Alaska pollack, and five months storage at 5℃ and four months at 20℃ in squid, respectively. But the qualities of both samples had been lost after one months storage at 35℃ in Alaska pollack and fifteen days storage at 35℃ in squid.

        Study on Method of Sperm Aspiration and Injection into an Oocyte in Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection(ICSI) Immobilization of spermatozoa prior to intracytoplasmic sperm iniection(ICSI) sometimes results in crooked tail and this makes it difficult to aspirate sperm into an injection pipette tail first. Head-first sperm aspiration into an injection pipette avoid this problem due to the bigger size of the sperm head. The effect of head or tail-first sperm injection into an oocyte on fertilization cleavage, percentage of grade I embryos and development to blastocyst stage in ICSI program has been studied. A single living immobilized spermatozoa from oligoasthenozoospermic patient was injected into an oocyte head-first or tail-first according to the treatment. Eighteen hours after microinjection, oocytes ware inspected for survival and fertilization Fertilized oocytes with two pronuclei were cultured in 30μl drop of mHTF supplemented with 10% heat-inactivated follicular fluid(FF) at 37℃. On day 2. embryo transfer was performed with cleaved embryos. The remaining 2-8 cell stage embryos were co-cultured with BRL cells in mHTF + 10% FF for 72 hours and the developmental stage was observed. The data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance. A total of 164 oocytes from 36 cycles were assigned to earth treatment and ICSI was performed(88 head-first, tail-first). The rates of normal fertilization were 81.8% and 76.3% for head-first and tail-first, respectively. Of the fertilized oocytes, the percentage of cleaved embryos and the percentage of grade 1 embryo among cleaved embryos were 88.9% and 68.8%, 93.1% and 74.1% for head-first and tail-first, respectively. Of the 2-8 cell embryos cultured, 44.4%(16/36) and 50.0%(10/20) for head first and tail first, respectively developed to blastocyst stage. There were no differences in fertilization, cleavage, rates of grade 1 embryos, and development to blastocyst stage. In conclusion, head-first or tail-first sperm injection into an oocyte in ICSI program does not affect fertilization and subsequent embryo development to blastocyst stage in vitro.

      • 물가자미 液化蛋白質 濃縮物의 製造 및 品質安定性

        This study was designed to prepare liquefied roundnose flounder protein concentrate with a long self life. The sample was divided into 2 groups of whole fish and fillet. The whole roundnose flounder was chopped and mixed with same amount of water and then hydrolyzed by bromelain, papain and complex enzyme. The optimum conditions for hydrolysis of whole fish were 50℃, 4 hours by bromelain (0.5%) digestion, 55℃, 5 hours by papain (0.3%) digestion, and 55℃, 4 hours by complex enzyme (3.0%) digestion, respectively. The liquefied whole roundnose flounder protein by complex enzyme could be decolorized by the treatment with 15% activated charcoal at room temperature for 30 minutes. The decolorized hydrolysates from whole fish and fillet were concentrated to brix 25% and then dried with spray dryer in conditions of inlet temperature 185℃, outlet temperature 85℃. The products were packed in cans and checked the keeping quality such as solubility in water, soluble nitrogen, relative viscosity, emulsifying stability, color, and sensory evaluation during storage for 3 months at 5℃, 20℃, and 35℃. Both of the products had an excellent functional properties. Good quality of products was maintained until 3 months storage at 5℃ and 20℃ in both samples, but it had been lost after 15 days and 1 month at 35℃ in liquefied whole fish and fillet protein concentrates, respectively. The keeping quality of products from fillet were better than those of products from whole fish.
