Background and Objectives: This case series is aimed to introduce a new term, antrovestibular polyp (AVP), for an antral polyp herniating anteriorly toward the nasal vestibule and to describe an antral polyp direction of growth through the anterior and posterior fontanelles.Materials and Method: This is a retrospective study involving review of patients who underwent surgery due to maxillary sinus polyp herniating anteriorly toward the nasal vestibular area or posteriorly toward the choana at a tertiary training hospital from January 2007 through July 2016. Their demographic data, computed tomography scan findings, and endoscopic evaluations were analyzed. Results: This study included 49 subjects; 8 (16.33%, 6 males) with AVP and 41 (83.67%, 24 males) with antrochoanal polyps (ACP). The mean ages of AVP and ACP patients were 9 and 14.4 years, respectively (p=0.006). The subjects were identified as AVP when computed tomography scan showed an antral polyp directed anteriorly toward the nasal vestibular area, while polyps growing toward the choana were identified as ACP. Endoscopic review showed that AVP grew out through an accessory ostium located anterior to the uncinate process at the area of the anterior fontanelle, while ACP started from an accessory ostium of the posterior fontanelle or a widened maxillary natural ostium.
To Raise or Not to Raise: A Corpus Study of Raising-to-Object in Korean
이한정,채고은 한국언어학회 2008 언어 Vol.33 No.4
This article examines the variation displayed by believe-type verbs between the complement clause involving Raising-to-object (RtO) and the complement clause without raising in Korean. Through a corpus study on the distribution of the complement clauses of the verb sayngkakha- 'think', we demonstrate that the choice between the two types of complement clauses is strongly affected by the contrastiveness of the proposition expressed by those clauses. Going one step further, we also provide a possible explanation for why the two types of complement clauses are distributed the way they are. We propose that the pattern of complement choice observed in the corpus data reflects the speaker's attempt to balance between processing cost and discourse function. In particular, it is shown that the balance between processing cost and discourse function can correctly predict the gradient pattern of complement choice, while offering a unified explanation for the effect of contrastiveness on complement choice and the 'characteristic property' condition on RtO.

The microalgae, Microcystis aeruginosa are able to proliferate in a wide range of freshwater ecosystem. M. aeruginosa was cultivated in 25 L and 240 L race-way reactor containing modified medium with added urea 0.2 g/L, increased $Fe^{+2}$, and decreased $Ca^{+2}$ion compared to BG11 medium. Sugar contents of M. aeruginosa grown in BG11 medium, and modified medium were 120 mg/mL and 140 mg/mL respectively. Fermentation was conducted with the extract of M. aeruginosa at $30^{\circ}C$ for 30 h, using Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Sc), Pichia stipitis (Ps), Zymomonas mobilis (Zm), and mixed-culture of these strains (Sc + Ps + Zm). Pichia stipitis (0.7%) was found to be more suitable for producing bioalcohol from M. aeruginosa extract than other strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (0.45%) and Zymomonas mobilis (0.61%), while mixed-cultured of these strains showed higest productivity by 1.75%. Biomass of M. aeruginosa contains the potency to be the most renewable resource for bioalcohol fermentation.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the latest research trends regarding the traditional Chinese medicine treatment of plantar fasciitis and suggest the direction for future research. Methods We investigated recent clinical studies about traditional Chines medicine treatment for Plantar fasciitis through searching the electronic database of China National Knowledge Infrastructure. We analyzed the characteristics of selected studies according to study design, criteria for diagnosis and evaluation, periods, treatment methods. Results Twenty-six clinical studies published from 2018 to 2022 were analyzed. Acupuncture, herbal medication, herbal fumigation and washing, herbal integration, herbal external application, and manual therapy were performed for the treatment of plantar fasciitis in China. In particular, studies on acupuncture, herbal fumigation and washing, and manual therapy were actively conducted and all of these treatment methods were effective. Conclusions Various Chinese medical interventions are being studied in China for the treatment of plantar fasciitis. However, in order to reinforce evidence for effectiveness of treatment, additional high-level clinical studies are required. It is considered that additional research related to the Korean medicine treatment for plantar fasciitis is needed in the future in Korea.

Objectives : The purpose of this review is to overview the research trend of herbal medicine for urticaria. Methods : We searched for studies of urticaria treated with herbal medicine published from 2010 until March 2022, through 5 web databases. After searching studies, we analyzed selected studies. Results : As a result, 7 studies have been found and analyzed. Three studies were randomized controlled trials, and four studies were before & after clinical research. All of research which selected have reported that herbal medicine treatment was effective for urticaria. Conclusion : According to the results, herbal medicine treatments can be effective treatment for urticaria. Further clinical studies are expected using evaluation methods to analyze the results and to establish high level of evidence.
