Objective: NCEP ATP III criteria, recent IDF and AHA/NHLBI criteria of metabolic syndrome (MetS) are useful to diagnose briefly MetS clinically, but exclude concept of insulin resistance in definition of MetS unlikely WHO criteria. We compared prevalence of MetS using various diagnostic criteria and evaluated if recent definitions of MetS reflect insulin resistance better than earlier criteria. Methods: Among 1,708 subjects aged 23~85 years (1,088 men; 620 women) who underwent medical checkup at health promotion center, we evaluated components of MetS with the basis of modified ATP III criteria using BMI≥25 kg/m2 instead of waist circumference (WC), classic ATP III criteria, IDF criteria, modified IDF criteria of Korea (IDF-K) using WC≥85 cm for women and AHA/NHLBI criteria, and calculated HOMA-IR in 708 subjects. Results: The prevalence of MetS according to AHA criteria was 25.3%, significantly higher than the other criteria (P<0.05) and that in IDF-K was 16.8%, significantly lower than the others, especially in women (P<0.001). In all criteria, prevalence of MetS increased significantly with aging in women (P<0.001) but decreased in 8th decade in men. Diagnosis of MetS showed positive relationships with HOMA-IR, and risk of HOMA-IR was higher in modified ATP III (OR 2.54, 95% CI 2.04~3.17) and AHA criteria (2.52, 2.03~3.14) in men, then high in classic ATP III (2.51, 1.64~3.85) and IDF criteria (2.65, 1.70~4.11) but lowest in modified ATP III criteria (1.88, 1.31~2.69) in women. Conclusion: In Koreans, according to AHA/NHLBI criteria, prevalence of MetS was higher than to the other criteria, and diagnosis of MetS reflected insulin resistance better than other criteria only in men.

Objective : To report a case of cervical block vertebra with neck pain successfully treated with conservative Korean Traditional Medicine treatment with Thoracic Chuna Manipulation. Methods : A patient diagnosed with block vertebra was treated with Thoracic Chuna manipulation, acupuncture, pharmacoacupuncture, and herbal medicine. Numeric Rating Scale(NRS) and Neck Disability Index(NDI) scores were collected before and after treatment for comparison. Results : There was a significant decrease in NRS and NDI scores. The mean NRS score decreased from 8 to 1, and NDI from 50 to 8. Conclusion : Conservative Korean Traditional Medicine treatment appears to be effective for treatment of cervical block vertebra.

Double-layered Al-Mg films have been deposited by using an e-beam deposition method on a cold-rolled steel sheet(CR), which the structure of the film was Al/Mg/CR. The micro-structure, alloy phase, and corrosion resistance of the Al-Mg coated CR were investigated before and after heat treatment at 400℃ for 2, 3, and 10 min in a nitrogen atmosphere. Total thickness of Al-Mg films was fixed at 3 ㎛ and the thickness ratio of Al and Mg layers(Al:Mg) has been changed from 5:1 to 1:5. The cross-sectional morphology of the films, which had the thickness ratio of 2:1(Al:Mg), 1:1, and 1:2, was changed after heat treatment from columnar to featureless structure. The x-ray diffraction data for as-deposited films showed only pure Al and Mg peaks. Al-Mg alloy peaks such as Al₃Mg₂ and Al12Mg17 phase appeared after the heat treatment. The Al-Mg coating with the thickness ratio of 1:1(Al:Mg) showed the best corrosion resistance of up to 500 hours by salt spray test.

화석연료의 고갈로 인한 고유가 상황과 온실가스에 의한 지구온난화가 가시화 되면서 재생 가능한 에너지 개발과 자원의 효과적인 이용을 통한 자원순환사회 구축, 나아가 친환경적인 사회구현이라는 목표를 달성하기 위하여 선진국을 중심으로 환경과 에너지 문제를 해결하기 위한 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 이러한 전망을 토대로 국가적 부담을 최소화하고 실리를 추구할 수 있는 적극적이고 능동적인 대처방안을 강구할 필요성이 절실한 시점이다. 최근 신재생에너지의 확충과 기후변화 협약에 대한 적극적인 대응이 요구됨에 따라 단순 매립되던 폐기물을 에너지로 전환하여 처리하는 방식이 각광받으며 정부 계획 하에 적극적으로 추진되고 있다. 이러한 대응의 일환으로 1990년대 후반에는 유렵을 중심으로 연성에너지 체제에 부합하면서 지방자치단체 지역 공동체, 지역 주민들의 에너지 생산 활동 참여를 중시하는 지역에너지 체제가 대안으로 제시되었다. 에너지자립마을은 화석연료에 대한 의존도가 낮으며 지속가능한 마을과 유사한 것으로, 환경문제와 미래에너지 문제를 함께 고려한 개념으로 마을에서 발생되는 자원을 최대한 이용하고, 그 자원을 순환시키는 마을로 이해될 수 있다. 국내에서 2009년부터 농림수산식품부, 환경부, 지식경제부 등 정부부처가 합동으로 각종 바이오매스를 이용하여 에너지 자립형 마을 시범사업을 추진하면서 축산 바이오매스를 이용하는 바이오가스화 기술은 농촌 지역에 도입할 수 있는 가장 실행 가능한 기술로 평가받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 농촌형 에너지자립마을에서 발생될 수 있는 다양한 유기성폐기물을 대상으로 혼합 원료의 특성과 병합 혐기성소화의 효율을 평가하기 위하여 biochemical methane potential test(BMP test)를 진행하였다. 또한, 본 연구를 바탕으로 혐기성소화와 C/N비의 관계를 알아보고자 하였다.

Double layer films which consisted of aluminum(Al) and magnesium(Mg) have been prepared by e-beam deposition. The structure, alloy phase, and corrosion resistance of the prepared films were investigated before and after heat treatment. The first (bottom) layer fixed with Al, and the thickness ratio between Al and Mg layers has been changed from 1 : 1 to 5 : 1, respectively. Total thickness of Al-Mg film was fixed at 3 μm. The cold-rolled steel sheet was used as a substrate. Heat treatment was fulfilled in an nitrogen atmosphere at the temperature of 400℃ for 2, 3 and 10 min. Surface morphology of as-deposited Al-Mg film having Mg top layer showed plate-like structure. The morphology was not changed even after heat treatment. However, cross-sectional morphology of Al-Mg films was drastically changed after heat treatment, especially for the samples heat treated for 10 min. The morphology of as-deposited films showed columnar structure, while featureless structure of the films appeared after heat treatment. The x-ray diffraction data for as-deposited Al-Mg films showed only pure Al and Mg peaks. However, Al-Mg alloy peaks such as Al3Mg2 and Al12Mg17 appeared after heat treatment of the films. It is believed that the formation of Al-Mg alloy phase affected the structure change of Al-Mg film. It was found that the corrosion resistance of Al-Mg film was increased after heat treatment.

Mo-tip field emitter arrays(FEAs) were fabricated by conventional Spindt process and their life time characteristics and failure mode were evaluated. The fabricated Mo-tip FEA could generate at least $0.35\{mu} A/tip$ emission current for about 320 persistently under a constant gate bias of 140 V and was finally destroyed through self-healing mode. Thin diamond-like carbon films were coated on the M-tip by plasma-enhanced CVD and the dependence of emission properties upon the DLC thickness was investigated. By DLC coating, the turn-on voltage and emission current were appeared to be improved whereas the current fluctuation was increased in the DLC thickness range of $0~1,000\{AA}$.

Fuel pump is essentially functional component of automotive engine assembly whose power is supplied from engine and which is transferred to pressure and flow velocity of oil. In this study, the flow analysis of oil pump is carried out on the angle of is 0, 15, and 30 degree between inlet and outlet ports. With numerical simulation it can be calculated whether the flow rate is over 190.0 LPH(Liter Per Hour) and the pulsation is occurred. Therefore the port angle of oil pump can be designed to increase the power and decrease the noise in the diesel automobile optimally.
대퇴 근위부의 골소주 패턴에 대한 복합적인 분석을 통한 골다공증 예측 연구

본 연구에서는 각기 다른 측정 부위에서 도출된 골밀도와 골소주 패턴 간의 상관관계를 복합적으로 분석하여 측정부위에 따른 평가변수의 골다공증 예측 가능성을 평가하고자 하였다. 실험대상은 40대 이상의 폐경기 이후 여성 40명을 선정하였고, T-Score 분류법에 따라 각각 20명의 정상군 및 골다공증군으로 분류하였다. 실험대상의 골밀도는 이중 에너지 X선 흡수 계측법을 통해 대퇴경부(Femoral Neck), 전자부(Trochanter) 및 워드 삼각부(Ward's Triangle)에서 측정하였다. 또한 각 측정부위에 $50{\times}50$ 픽셀 크기의 관심영역을 지정하고, 기존 연구에서 제안된 영상처리기법을 적용하여 각 영역의 골소주 패턴을 추출하였다. 골다공증을 예측하기 위한 평가변수는 구조적 변수(평균 회색조, 골면적, 골둘레, 골두께, 말단거리), 골격화 변수(골개수, 골길이) 및 프랙탈 차원(fractal dimension)으로 구분되는 총 8가지를 선정하였다. 실험결과, 골면적, 골둘레, 골두께, 말단거리, 골개수, 골길이 및 프랙탈 차원이 골밀도를 유의하게 반영하였고(p<0.003), 평가변수의 분석을 통한 골다공증의 높은 예측 가능성을 확인하였다. The purpose of this study was to determine the evaluation parameters' osteoporosis predictability in accordance with measuring regions by analyzing the correlations between bone mineral density and trabecular patterns derived from different measuring regions. Experimental subjects were a total of 40 female patients after menopause aged over 40 years, and were classified into 20 control and 20 osteoporotic groups according to the T-score. Bone mineral density was measured on femoral neck, trochanter and ward's triangle by DEXA(Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry). We designated ROI(Region of Interest) with $50{\times}50$ pixel size on each measuring regions, and extracted trabecular patterns by using existing image processing method. We also selected a total of eight evaluation parameters that are categorized into structural(mean gray level, area, perimeter, thickness and terminal distance), skeletonized parameters(number, length) and fractal dimension. As a result, it was observed that area, perimeter, thickness, terminal distance, number, length and fractal dimension reflected the bone mineral density with high statistical validity(p<0.003). We also confirmed that the evaluation parameters could predict the osteoporosis more efficiently.
