        Anti-thrombotic Effects of Modified Jeho-tang using a FeCl3-induced Carotid Arterial Thrombosis Model

        Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the antithrombotic effects of the four herbal ingredients (Mume Fructus, MF; Santali Albi Lignum, SAL; Amomi Tsao-Ko Fructus, ATF; and Amomi Fructus, AF) of modified Jeho-tang (MJHT) in a ferric chloride (FeCl3)-induced carotid arterial thrombosis model. Methods: Thirty minutes prior to a 35% FeCl3 application, Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were injected with saline, MF, SAL, ATF or AF (100 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection), respectively. The effect of the MJHT ingredients was examined for time to occlusion (TTO) and thrombus weight (TW) in a FeCl3-induced thrombosis model. Histological analysis was performed to examine the effect of the MJHT ingredients on collagen fiber damage using hematoxylin & eosin and Masson’s trichrome staining. Results: Compared with vehicle treatment, MF, SAL and ATF treatment delayed TTO (vehicle, 8.11 ± 0.60 min; MF, 16.67 ± 1.03 min; SAL, 17.50 ± 1.52 min and ATF, 13.33 ± 1.21 min; P < 0.001) and inhibited thrombus formation (vehicle, 0.79 ± 0.03 mg/mm; MF, 0.61 ± 0.07 mg/mm; SAL, 0.57 ± 0.03 mg/mm and ATF, 0.72 ± 0.02 mg/mm; P < 0.001). In addition, each herbal ingredient of MJHT except for AF prevented the collagen fiber damage induced by a 35% FeCl3 application. These results indicate that the MJHT ingredients MF ≥ SAL 〉ATF 〉AF possess antithrombotic activity in a FeCl3-induced carotid arterial thrombosis. Conclusions: Altogether, these results are the first evidence that the MJHT ingredients MF, SAL and ATF have the ability to prevent vascular damage and thrombus formation in FeCl3-induced carotid arterial thrombosis.

        한국 성인의 고요산혈증과 건강 관련 삶의 질과의 연관성: 제7기 국민건강영양조사 자료 이용(2016–2017년)

        Background: The prevalence of hyperuricemia has increased over the past few decades. Hyperuricemia is responsible for the increased risk of hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, chronic renal disease, and cardiovascular disease. Health-related quality of life (HQoL) has been increasingly used as an outcome in clinical trials, effectiveness research, and research on quality of care. Therefore, we aimed to analyze the association between hyperuricemia and HQoL in Korean adults aged >19 years. Methods: We included 2,376 male and 2,593 female who participated in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2016 to 2017. Hyperuricemia was defined as a serum uric acid (SUA) level of 7 mg/dL. The Euro quality of life-5 dimension (EQ-5D) questionnaire was used to measure HQoL. A multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to examine the association between hyperuricemia and HQoL. Results: The EQ-5D index score of the hyperuricemia group was significantly lower than of the healthy group. After adjusting for multiple covariates, the odds ratio (95% confidence interval, [CI]) for mobility issues was 1.46 (95% CI, 1.211–1.683) in male and 1.33 (95% CI, 0.716–2.464) in female; however, the difference was not statistically significant for female. Conclusion: Hyperuricemia was associated with reduced quality of life. It is important to control SUA levels to improve HQoL. 연구배경: 본 연구는 우리나라 성인 인구를 대상으로 고요산혈증과 건강 관련 삶의 질의 관계에 대한 연구를 시행하였다. 방법: 국민건강영양조사 제7기 1,2차년도에 참여한 만 19세 이상의 대한민국 남녀 4,969명을 대상으로 혈중 요산 농도 7 mg/dL 이상을 고요산혈증으로 정의하고 건강 관련 삶의 질은 HQoL 측정 도구인EuroQoL 5 dimension (EQ-5D), EQ-5D index를 이용하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 시행하였다. 결과: EQ-5D index는 연령 증가에 따라 고요산혈증이 있는 남녀 모두에서 정상 그룹보다 유의하게 감소하였다(P<0.05). 고요산혈증과 EQ-5D의 로지스틱 회귀분석에서 남성은 고요산혈증 그룹에서 신체조건, 만성질환, 생활 요인들에 대해 보정하여 분석한 결과에서도 ‘운동능력’ odds ratio (OR), 1.46 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.211–1.683)은 고요산혈증에 의해 삶의 질이 저하되는 것으로 나타났다. 여성에서는 ‘운동능력’ OR, 1.33 (95% CI, 0.716–2.464)은 통계적 유의성은 없었다. 결론: 고요산혈증이 있는 경우 건강 관련 삶의 질이 유의하게 저하되었으며 정신 건강 부분보다는 신체적 기능 부분에서 주로 저하되었다.

        류마티스관절염 동물모델에서 관절염 치료에 따른 통증수용체의 발현

        Objective. Rheumatoid arthritis, the most common form of arthritis, is typically characterized by induced inflammatory pain in joints. Recent studies have reported on the expression of pain receptors such as transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) and acid sensing ion channel 3 (ASIC3), which are related to pain induction and regulation. This study was conducted to investigate the expression of TRPV1 and ASIC3 in response to the analgesic effect of an arthritis treatment in a collagen-induced arthritis (CIA). Methods. Mice were divided into 3 groups: Control, CIA, and CIA with arthritis treatment. Mice received intraperitoneal injection with 10 mg/kg infliximab and 10 mg/kg meloxicam five times per week for 3 weeks. Mechanical hyperalgesia, histologic examination of the feet, serum levels of inflammatory cytokine such as interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-17 (IL-17), TRPV1 and ASIC3 expression were investigated. Results. The serum levels of IL-6 and IL-17 were lower in the treatment group (73.77±10.11 pg/mL and 26.75±7.17 pg/mL, respectively) compared to the CIA group (p<0.001). Histological analysis showed decreased synovial cell proliferation, leukocyte infiltration, and cartilage destruction in the treatment group compared with the CIA group. The CIA group that underwent arthritis treatment showed a significantly increased withdrawal threshold of mechanical nociception on the hind paw and increased expression of TRPV1 and ASIC3 compared to the CIA group. Conclusion. Arthritis treatment resulted in an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect through upregulation of the activity of TRPV1 and ASIC3 in CIA mice. (J Rheum Dis 2015;22:85-92)

As well, drawing a parallel between two things is the solution that had given in the Yang-Hui arithmetic and have given in the middle school textbook of the 7th Educational Curriculum Revision.

        Screening of Preventive Effects of Herbal Prescriptions in Rat Model of Arterial Thrombosis Induced by Ferric Chloride

        Objectives: This study examined the effects of 8 types of herbal prescriptions prescribed to alleviate dementia symptoms in a rat model of arterial thrombosis induced by ferric chloride (FeCl3). Methods: Thirty minutes before 35% FeCl3 treatment, SD rats were intraperitoneally injected with the 8 types of herbal prescriptions, respectively. We tested the effects of the herbal prescriptions on time to occlusion (TTO) in an arterial thrombosis model using a laser Doppler flow meter. In addition, thrombus weight (TW) and collagen fiber damages were evaluated in the same condition. Results: Herbal prescriptions showed the following rank-order based on their TTO: Chong-myung-tang (CMT) > modified Jangwonhan 02 (LMK02) > Toki-shakuyaku-san (TSS) ≥ Oren-gedoku-to (OGT) ≥ Yokukansan (YKS). In particular, CMT (100 mg/kg, i.p.) and LMK02 (100 mg/kg, i.p.) delayed the TTO the most (14.83 ± 0.98 and 13.67 ± 1.03 min, respectively) compared with the vehicle group (7.95 ± 0.78 min, P<0.001). In addition, CMT, LMK02, and OGT treatment (0.63 ± 0.01, 0.66 ± 0.02 and 0.67 ± 0.01 mg/mm, respectively) significantly reduced thrombus weight compared with the vehicle treatment (0.78 ± 0.03, P<0.001) and also alleviated collagen fiber damage (CMT; 28.40 ± 2.22%, LMK02; 30.79 ± 4.07%, OGT; 26.20 ± 1.48%) in the vessels injured by FeCl3. Therefore, CMT and LMK02 showed the greatest preventive activity in rat model of arterial thrombosis induced by FeCl3. Conclusions: These results provide experimental evidence for traditional use of herbal prescriptions, suggesting that CMT and LMK02 extracts could be used to prevent vascular injury and thrombosis in the early stages of dementia.

        Fructus mume Ethanol Extract Prevents Inflammation and Normalizes the Septohippocampal Cholinergic System in a Rat Model of Chronic Cerebral Hypoperfusion

        Fructus mume (F. mume), the unripe fruit of Prunus mume, has long been used in Asian countries to treat cough and chronic diarrhea. We previously reported that F. mume exerts anti-inflammatory effects in a model of chronic cerebral hypoperfusion (CCH), a key etiological factor of vascular dementia (VaD). The present study was performed to investigate the protective effects of an ethanolic extract of F. mume on the inflammatory response and cholinergic dysfunction in a model of CCH induced by bilateral common carotid artery occlusion (BCCAo) in Wistar rats. Rats were assigned to three treatment groups: sham plus vehicle, BCCAo plus vehicle, and BCCAo plus F. mume extract (200 mg/kg). F. mume was administered by oral gavage from days 21 to 42 following BCCAo. Glial cell numbers were measured in the white matter and hippocampus. The hippocampal expressions of proinflammatory cytokines, angiotensin-II (Ang-II), receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE), and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPKs) were also evaluated. Choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) levels in the hippocampus and basal forebrain were examined. Rats with BCCAo showed an increase in the number of glial cells and levels of proinflammatory cytokines, Ang-II, RAGE, and MAPKs, all of which were significantly attenuated by F. mume treatment. F. mume administration also restored ChAT expression in the basal forebrain and hippocampus following chronic BCCAo. These results suggest that F. mume is a potentially valuable drug or nutraceutical for the treatment of VaD.

        스마트폰의 보급증가로 인해, 각종 모바일 어플리케이션들이 등장하고 있다. 은행이나 영화관에서 전용 대기번호 발급기를 이용해서 순번을 제공하던 "순번대기시스템" 도 모바일 어플리케이션으로 등장하였다. 하지만 기존의 시스템은 보통 하나의 순번만 부여하거나, 여러 개의 순번을 받을 수는 있어도 순번들 사이의 스케쥴링에 대한 고려는 아직 미흡한 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 스마트폰에서 GPS를 이용한 사용자의 위치 정보를 활용하여 다중 순번을 받을 시에 효과적인 대기 스케쥴링 방법을 제안하고, 이를 어플리케이션으로 구현한다. 제안된 방식을 사용하면 기존보다 전체적인 대기시간의 감소 효과가 있다. Due to the increasing of smartphones, has been the emergence of various mobile applications. The queueing system used dispenser in banks and cinemas, as for mobile applications has appeared. But The existing system, usually one ticket grants or while it's possible to receive multi-queueing tickets, between tickets scheduling has not been taken into account. In this papers, using the smartphone's GPS location information to the user by taking advantage of when receiving a multiple-turn waiting number, Propose an effective scheduling method, is realization in application. Using the proposed method than the existing overall effect is a reduction in waiting time.
