        Ginseng Anthracnose Caused by Colletotrichum dematium

        Ginseng anthracnose was observed in Koyang area, Korea. A fungus was repeatedly isolated from leaves and stems of the infected ginseng plants and identified as Colletotrichum dematium according to the morpho-logical and cultural characteristics. The fungus showed pathogenicity on inoculated ginseng leaves. This is the first report of ginseng anthracnose caused by Colletotri-chum dematium in Korea.

        CDGPS 를 이용한 도깨비 도로의 정밀 측위

        위를 수행할 수 있다. 제주도 도깨비 도로는 착시 현상으로 인해 육안으로는 올바른 경사도를 파악할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 반송파 보정 위성 항법 시스템의 높은 위치 정확도를 이용하여 제주도 도깨비 도로의 정확한 경사도를 계산하기 위해 동적 측위 실험을 수행하였다. 반송파 보정 위성 항법 시스템을 사용하여 실험 데이터를 후처리한 결과. cm 수준의 정확도로 도깨비 도로 노면의 정확한 형태를 알 수 있었다. Using GPS carrier phase whose cycle ambiguities are resolved, it is possible to perform precise survey requiring centimeter-level positioning accuracy. Because of an optical illusion, we cannot recognize the exact slope of Dokaebi Road. In this paper, we performed kinematic survey experiments in order to calculate the exact slope of Dokaebi Road with high positioning accuracy of CDGPS. By post-processing experimental data using CDGPS, it was possible to generate the exact vertical trajectory of Dokaebi Road with centimeter-level accuracy.

        Methodology for Evaluating SBAS Satellite Correction

        The Satellite-based Augmentation System (SBAS), as a safety critical system, should be verified on an ongoing basis to ensure the adequate performance. This study proposes two methods to evaluate the performance of SBAS satellite correction. Analysis methods based on precise ephemeris and measurement were applied to present an evaluation method for SBAS satellite correction, and a test was performed based on real data. The precise ephemeris-based analysis method had no limitations on the position of the test user and showed a high precision, enabling an accurate performance analysis in various positions. Although the measurement-based analysis method has the advantage of fast data interval, it showed a relatively lower accuracy due to the effects of various error factors. Compared with the precise ephemeris-based analysis method, there was a large difference of more than 5 m at the beginning of smoothing filter, and a difference less than 50 cm when filtered for more than an hour.

        Takayasu 동맥염의 임상적 고찰

        N/A To observe the clinical features of Takayasu's arteritis and evaluate the incidence and sites of coronary arterial involvement in Takayasu's arteritis, clinical observations were made in 99 patients who were diagnosed as Takayasu's arteritis by clinical features and aortographic findings in Seoul National University Hospital from August 1971 to July 1989 Coronary arteriographies were performed prospectively in 30 patients with Takayasu's arteritis since March 1987. The results were as follows: 1) In 99 cases of Takayasu's arteritis, 15 were male and 84 were female. The male to female ratio was 1:5.7, the mean age was 29.5, and 63% of those studied were under the age of 30. 2) The following were the presenting clinical symptoms and signs in decreasing order of frequency: headache(69%), weak or nonpalpable pulse(68%), carotid or abdominal bruit(55%), Dyspnea on exertion(51%), hypertention(48%), and dizziness(43%). 3) Aorta or arterial involvement in decreasing order of frequency: left subclavian artery(62%), abdominal aorta(58%), right subclavian artery(38%), descending thoracic aorta(37%) and left renal artery(35%). 4) Using Ueno's classification, 29(29%) were Type I, 22(22g) were Type II, and 48(48%) were Type III. Type IV or pulmonary arterial involvements were seen in 11(33%) out of 33 patients. 5) In a prospective study using coronary arteriography, 8(27%) out of 30 patients of Takayasu's ateritis showed coronary involvement. Among the 13 lesions of coronary arterial narrowings in 8 patients with coronary involvements, there were 3 ostial lesions, 5 proximal and 5 middle or distal lesions. 6) Frequently there were no cardiac symptom in patients with Takayasu's arteritis who had coronary arterial lesions, and a myocadial infarction or congestive heart failure may be the first sign of the coronary arterial narrowing.

        20세 미만 여성에서의 난소암에 대한 임상적 고찰

        N/A Objective: The purpose of this study was to review the incidence, types, chemotherapy regimens, operation me#thods, pregnancy rate and propiosis of the ov#arian malignancy under the age of twenty years old. Methods: Retrospective reviews of the medical recordings for 22 patients with ovarian malignancy under the age of twenty years old in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hanyang University from 1986 to 1997 were done. Results: Gerin cell tumor accounts for the majority of cases (77%), whereas 5 patients(23%) belong to the common epithelial poup which were all mucinous type. Our experiences with 22 cases are as followings: 5 mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, 8 immature teratoma, 4 endodermal sinus tumor, 3 dysgernma and 2 mixed germ cell tumor. The incidence of this group was 8.2% (22/266) in all ovarian malignancy. Fourteen of them are stage I, each one is, stage II and IV, and six patients are stage III. The average age was 14.9 years old in germ cell tumor and 18.4 yems old in mucinous cystadenoearcinoma. Malignant ovarian cancer under the age of twenty can be treated with conservative surgery, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. Commonly used chemotherapeutic regimens were VAC(Vincristine, Actinomycin-D; Cyclophosphamide), VBP(Vinblastine, Bleomycin, Cisplatin) and BEP(Bleomycin, Etoposide, Cisplatin). Second look operations were done in 11 patienth and histologic positive findings were detected in 4 of them. The length of follow-up ranged ftom 3 months to 137 months and median value was 44 rnonths. Conclusions: It is concluded that for young women who wish to preserve child-bearing capacity, regardless of the stage of the tumor, fertility preserving surgery with complete surgical staging, if necessary followed by combination chemotherapy is an appropriate treatment.

      • Arginine이 가토 심방근 수축력 및 동방결절세포의 전기생리학적 특성에 미치는 효과

        In other to explore effects of arginine, one of the basic amino acid on the cardiac function, changes in atrial contractility and action potentials of the sinus noed cells were determined in the isolated rabbit heart following superfusion with Tyrode's solution containing different amount of arginine. After superfusion with arginine (30mM) the amplitued of action potential (APA) of the sinus node cells generally decreased as a result of a greater decrement in maximum diastolic potential (MDP) than a simultaneous increment of avershoot potential (OS). No sigvificant changes were observed in action potential duration (APD) and rate of spontaneous firing (RSF) of the sinus node cells after superfusion with arginine solutions. At low concentration (3-6mM) arginine decreased atrial contractility while at high concentration (30mM) an initial positive inofropic response (between 3 and 5 min after onset of superfusion )was followed by a negative response. On the other hand, arginine intensified the initial positive inotropic response induced by reducing stimulation frequency of the atrial segment from 2Hz to 0.5Hz. And the negative inotropic effect of arginine (6mM) was abolished in the rabbir atrial segment pretreated with caffeine. The results of present study suggest that arginine can act diretly on the cardiac cells of rabbir heart resulting in an alteration lf transmenbrane potential and atrial contractility.

      • Acetaldehyde 및 Nicotine에 의한 가토심장 동방결절세포의 활동전압의 변동

        Acetaldehyde, a metabolite of ethanol has not only been implicated as a contributory factor that cause alcoholic cardiomyopathies but also has been shown to have significant cardiovascular effects. The suggestion has also been made that acetaldehyde has more pronounced effect on the cardiovascular system than ethanol. Several epidemiological studies have demonstrated that alcoholism is associated with heavy smoking thereby increasing the risk of developing various ailments. Also nicotine has been known to influence the cardiovascular functions profoundly. In the present study, changes in the intracellular action potential were investigated in the sinoatrial node cells of the rabbit heart for 45 minutes following superfusion with Tyrode solutions containing acetaldehyde and/or nicotine. Superfusion of the sinus node cells with acetaldehyde (0.01%-0.1%) resulted in a concentration dependent reduction of action potential amplitude(APA). At the high dosage level (0.1%) changes in APA peaked at 10 minutes and APA was restored to the control level in 45 minutes after onset of superfusion. And Vmax(maximum rate of depolarization) of the sinus node cell was also decreased by acetaldehyde. The rate of spontaneous firing (RSF) of the sinus node cells was markedly decreased by acetaldehyde (0.05%-0.1%), but the action potential duration manifested as ??(time to 60% repolarizaton) was not alatered. On the other hand, nicotine (0.05%) increased APA, prolonged ?? and significantly decreased RSF of the sinus node cells. The maximal changes in APA and ?? were produced at 10 minutes while that in RSF at 7 minutes after onset of superfusion. Following simultaneous superfusion with acetaldehyde and nicotine, APA and RSF of the sinus node cells decreased prominently whereas a transient, small but significant prolongation of ?? was followed by a transient shortening. When the sinus node cells were superfused with acetaldehydee and nicotine simultaneously, it apperared that effects of two drugs on APA were exerted in additive fashion while that of nicotine of RSF was partially antagonized by acetaldeyde.

      • Glycine이 적출 정상 및 자발성 고혈압 백서 대동맥 평활근의 수축성에 미치는 효과

        Glycine has been known to possess significant cardiovascular effects. Electrophysiological effects of glycine were demonstrated in the rabbit sinus node cells. Recently it was also reported that glycine induced endothelium-dependent contractions in the isolated rabbit aorta. On the other hand, it has been generally agreed that the vascular reactivity was also altered in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR). The present study was performed to investigate effects of glycine on the vascular smooth muscle in the 16 week old Wistar-Kyoto rats(WKY) and in the age-matched SHR. The systolic pressures of WKY and SHR were 123.9±9.4mmHg and 198.5±8.5mmHg, respectively. Glycine(10-100mM) produced endothelium-dependent contractions in the isolated aortic rings of both WKY and SHR. At concentration of 50mM glycine increased vascular tension respectively by 60.2±6.9%(percentage to contraction induced by 1×10 M) and 89.4±2.9% in WKY and SHR. After denudation the vascular responmses to 50mM glycine solution were respectively 25.4±1.8 and 34.2±1.4% in WKY and SHR. Also hyperosmolarity provoked vascular contractions. Following superfusion with 370mOsm Krebsmannitol solution which ws equimolar with 50mM glycine solution, vascular tension increased by 24.5±4.7% in both animal groups. The results indicate that glycine may produce endothelium-dependent contractions in the isolated aorta of SHR, and that vascular responses to glycine are more sensitive in SHR.
