AKD(alkyl ketene dimer) used widely as a neutral sizing agent is produced industrially by halogenization of stearic acid followed by dimerization of alkyl ketene. In the present work, to suppress the byproduct of hydrochloric acid and to improve reaction pathway. AKD was prepared through of ketene intermediate by dehydration of stearic acid in gas phase using reaction with silanol on silica as active sites of the catalyst SBA-15 showed the highest activity due to the large and open tubular pores. It was found that main products were dimer and trimer. Our goal of the present work was to increase of the selectivity for the dimer.

TPA (tungstophosphoric acid), a typical heteropoly acid, was impregnated on SBA-15 to modify the acidic property of the mesoporous catalyst. The TPA was highly dispersed on the SBA-15 which has large surface area confirming by nitrogen adsorption, X-ray diffraction, and infrared spectroscopy. According to the result of in-situ FTIR spectroscopy using pyridine as a probe molecule, it was revealed that silanol group was gradually decreased with increasing the loading amount of TPA, and that new acidic site different from that of pure TPA was generated resulting in the enhancement of catalytic activity. TPA could act as a promoter when loaded on SBA-15 by relatively small amount, but the catalytic activity was greatly decreased due to the loss of silanol group as an active site when a large amount of TPA was loaded.
酸棗仁이 CT105에 의한 신경세포 상해 및 白鼠의 기억에 미치는 영향

Objective: This study was designed to research whether demonstrate neuroprotective and memory enhancing effects of Z1BU, suggesting its beneficial actions for the treatment of AD. Methods: The present study investigated effects of the dichloromethane extract of Semen Zizyphi Spinosae(ZIBU) on neurotoxicity and reactive oxygen species(ROS) and nitric oxide(NO) formation in PC 12 cell line overexpressed with carboxyl-terminal 105 amino acid peptide fragment of amyloid precursor protein(CT105). In addition, the present study evaluated its radical scavenging activity and effects on acetylcholinesterase(AChE) activity. Furthermore, effects on neuronal loss in CAl area and cognitive deficits induced by scopolamine treatment were also evaluated in rats. Result: we found in this study that ZIBU significantly inhibited apoptotic neuronal death induced by CT105 overexpression in PC12 cells, with the IC_(50) value of 23 ㎍/ml. Based on phase-contrast and fluorescence microscopic examinations, ZIBU reversed morphological changes of CT105-expressed PC-12 cells. It was also found that Z1BU significantly induced neurite outgrowth and inhibited formation of ROS and NO.Z1BU scavenged DPPH radicals and inhibited AChE activity. Furthermore, it attenuated memory impairment induced by the injection of scopolamine in rats, based on passive avoidance test. Crystal violet staining of rat brain slices exhibited increase in the viability of pyramidal neurons in hippocampal CAI area. Conclusion: these results demonstrate neuroprotective and memory enhancing effects of ZIBU, suggesting its beneficial actions for the treatment of AD.

The purpose of this study is to investigate prevents hypertension effect of ethanol extract of Sigesbeckia pubescens. In this study, to determine prevents hypertension effect of ethanol extract S. pubescens on suppression of calcium mobilization force in vascular smooth muscle cell line. Ethanol extract of S. pubescens,showed a moderate suppression of calcium mobilization force effect vascular smooth muscle cell line. Therefore, treatment with ethanol extract of S. pubescens may accelerate blood flow through dilatation of the blood vessel. This result suggest a potential role of ethanol extract of S. pubescens as source of prevents hypertension agent.

저자들은 식사시작과 함께 심계항진을 주소로 내원한 63세 여자 환자에서 국내에서 아직 보고된 바 없는 연하 유발성 심방세동을 진단하였고, 약물치료로 호전되었기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Deglutition tachyarrhythmias are rare. We report a case of atrial fibrillation triggered by swallowing. A 63 year old female presented to our hospital with a 20 day history of paroxysmal palpitations lasting approximately 5 to 10 seconds in duration and precipitated by ingestion of solids but not liquids. Cardiovascular examination, chest radiography, Echocardiography, upper GI endoscopy and thyroid function tests were normal and 24 hour ambulatory monitoring showed sinus rhythm except for numerous episodes of atrial fibrillation with rates of 150 to 200 beats/minute during meals. Most episodes spontaneously reverted to sinus rhythm within few minutes. The patient`s exercise tolerance was good with the achievement of 96% of the age predicted maximum heart rate. Her symptoms were controlled by verapamil. She is currently symptom-free with regular doses of verapamil under clinical follow-up. (Korean J Med 69:S818-S823, 2005)

Acute focal bacterial nephritis is a part of urinary tract infection and a special form of acute pyelonephritis. In most cases, it is treated well by antimicrobial therapy without severe complications. Unusual cases have been reported that renal failure and or chronic granulomatous interstitial nephritis was combined with acute focal bacterial nephritis. We describe a case of acute reanl failure complicated by acute focal bacterial nephritis in 30-year-old male. He was admitted to this hospital owing to fever, chilling, right flank pain. On admission, BUN and creatinine were 29 mg/dl, 1.8 mg/dl. Urinalysis showed leukocyturia, & bactriuria. Urine culture revealed E. coli over us. Abdominal CT and ultrasonography was represented focal hypodense area and diffuse renal enlargement so we could diagnose acute focal bacterial nephritis. The patient was improved with antimicrobial therapy and hydration. In conclusion, this case shows the possibility that unusual complication such as acute reanl failure can be happensed in acute focal bacterial nephritis in continum with acute pyelonephritis

Objectives: In the acupuncture treatment of Korean Medicine, the Tonifying or Purging depending on how many times the needle is rotated has been used widely. However, there is little evidence about the optimal number of rotation. This study, therefore, was aimed to investigate the optimal number of rotation. Methods: Heart rate variation was measured before and after exercise in 20 healthy adults. Acupuncture was performed at PC6 immediately after exercise according to the protocol of each group without remaining. Pre-exercise and post-exercise measurements were compared and the rotation number that produced statistically significant difference was investigated. Results: Significant differences were found in the heart rate variation and R-R interval Average, between non-rotation group (control) and both of 15 times rotation group of tonifying and 6 times rotation group of purging. Conclusions: Significantly effective number of rotation in the effect of PC6 on the HR and RRAv was 15 times in the tonifying and 6 in the purging respectively.
