        A polymeric composite protective layer for stable Li metal anodes

        Lithium (Li) metal is a promising anode for high-performance secondary lithium batteries with high energy density due to its highest theoretical specific capacity and lowest electrochemical potential among anode materials. However, the dendritic growth and detrimental reactions with electrolyte during Li plating raise safety concerns and lead to premature failure. Herein, we report that a homogeneous nanocomposite protective layer, prepared by uniformly dispersing ­AlPO 4 nanoparticles into the vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene matrix, can effectively prevent dendrite growth and lead to superior cycling performance due to synergistic influence of homogeneous Li plating and electronic insulation of polymeric layer. The results reveal that the protected Li anode is able to sustain repeated Li plating/stripping for > 750 cycles under a high current density of 3 mA cm −2 and a renders a practical specific capacity of 2 mAh cm −2 . Moreover, full-cell Li-ion battery is constructed by using ­LiFePO 4 and protected Li as a cathode and anode, respectively, rendering a stable capacity after 400 charge/discharge cycles. The current work presents a promising approach to stabilize Li metal anodes for next-generation Li secondary batteries.

        Recent Developments in the Effects of Different Dopants on the Structure and Property of Lithium Titanate Material

        The lithium titanium spinel Li4Ti5O12 has attracted more and more attention as anode materials applied in lithium ion batteries. Li4Ti5O12 material has been found to be able to intercalate lithium ions without deformation of the lattice. However, compared with graphite and other anode materials, the low conductivity of Li4Ti5O12 restricts its charging and discharging rate. Doping is deemed to be a businesslike method to enhance ionic and electronic conductivity of Li4Ti5O12. This paper reviews the effects of Li4Ti5O12 with different doping ions on different crystal lattice states. And it has been found by a summary that the doping objective of doping ions at Li4Ti5O12 is also different. Moreover, the applications of ion doping in different fields of Li4Ti5O12 are prospected.

      • In-situ PECVD-enabled graphene-V<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> hybrid host for lithium–sulfur batteries

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries have been regarded as promising candidates for current energy-storage technologies due to their remarkable advantages in energy density and theoretical capacity. However, one of the daunting challenges remained for advanced Li–S systems thus far deals with the synchronous suppression of polysulfide (LiPS) shuttle and acceleration of redox kinetics. Herein, a cooperative interface bridging adsorptive V<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> and conductive graphene is constructed <I>in-situ</I> by virtue of direct plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), resulting in the design of a novel V<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>-graphene hybrid host to synergize the LiPS entrapment and conversion. The redox kinetics and electrochemical performances of thus-derived cathodes were accordingly enhanced owing to the smooth adsorption-diffusion-conversion of LiPSs even at a sulfur mass loading of 3.7 mg cm<SUP>–2</SUP>. Such interfacial engineering offers us a valuable opportunity to gain insight into the comprehensive regulation of LiPS anchoring ability, electrical conductivity and ion diffusive capability in hybrid hosts on suppressing the LiPS shuttle and propelling the redox kinetics.       • A Novel Molecular Grading Model: Combination of Ki67 and VEGF in Predicting Tumor Recurrence and Progression in Non-invasive Urothelial Bladder Cancer

        Purpose: To assess efficacy of Ki67 combined with VEGF as a molecular grading model to predict outcomes with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Materials: 72 NMIBC patients who underwent transurethral resection (TUR) followed by routine intravesical instillations were retrospectively analyzed in this study. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to confirm the prognostic values of the Ki67 labeling index (LI) and VEGF scoring for tumor recurrence and progression. Results: The novel molecular grading model for NMIBC contained three molecular grades including mG1 (Ki67 $LI{\leq}25%$, VEGF $scoring{\leq}8$), mG2 (Ki67 LI>25%, VEGF $scoring{\leq}8$; or Ki67 $LI{\leq}25%$, VEGF scoring > 8), and mG3 (Ki67 LI > 25%, VEGF scoring > 8), which can indicate favorable, intermediate and poor prognosis, respectively. Conclusions: The described novel molecular grading model utilizing Ki67 LI and VEGF scoring is helpful to effectively and accurately predict outcomes and optimize personal therapy.

        Evidence for the medicinal value of Squama Manitis (pangolin scale): A systematic review

        Background: Squama Manitis (pangolin scale) has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. However, its efficacy has not been systematically reviewed. This review aims to fill the gap. Methods: We searched six electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI), WanFang Database and SinoMed from inception to May 1, 2020. Search terms included “pangolin”, “Squama Manitis”, “Manis crassicaudata”, “Manis javanica”, “Malayan pangolins”, “Manis pentadactyla”, “Ling Li”, “Chuan Shan Jia”, “Shan Jia”, “Pao Jia Zhu”, “Jia Pian” and “Pao Shan Jia”. The Cochrane Risk of Bias (RoB) assessment tool and Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) were used to evaluate the risk of bias of the included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and case control studies (CCSs). Results: After screening, 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria were finally included. There were 4 randomized controlled trials, 1 case control study, 3 case series and 7 case reports. A total of 15 different diseases were reported in these studies, thus the data could not be merged to generate powerful results. Two RCTs suggested that Squama Manitis combined with herbal decoction or antibiotics could bring additional benifit for treating postpartum hypogalactia and mesenteric lymphadenitis. However, this result was not reliable due to low methodological quality and irrational outcomes. The other two RCTs generated negative results. All the non-RCTs did not add any valuable evidence to the efficacy of Squama Manitis beacause of small samples, incomplete records, non-standardized outcome detection. In general, currently available evidence cannot support the clinical use of Squama Manitis. Conclusion: There is no reliable evidence that Squama Manitis has special medicinal value. The removal of Squama Manitis from Pharmacopoeia is rational.

        Ecofriendly high-performance ionic soft actuators based on graphene-mediated cellulose acetate

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Ionic-type artificial muscles with eco-friendly, biodegradable, and biocompatible functionalities have attracted attention for a wide range of potential applications in wearable electronics, soft haptic-feedback systems, and active biomedical devices. Here, we report on the development of an ecofriendly high-performance ionic soft actuator based on biofriendly cellulose acetate (CA), graphene nanopowders (GN), ionic liquid (IL) as a plasticizer, and biofriendly-flexible-nonmetallic conducting polymer poly(3,4-ethylene-dioxythiopene)-polystyrenesulfonate (PEDOT: PSS) as an electrode, thereby realizing a novel ecofriendly CA-IL-GN actuator with a large bending mechanical deformation and a fast response time. The proposed CA-IL-GN (0.2 wt%) nanocomposite membrane exhibited dramatic increments in specific capacitance (2.92 times) and Young’s modulus (2.38 times), thus leading to a 2.9 times larger bending deformation and a 4.8 times faster response than those of pure CA-IL actuator. Therefore, the developed ecofriendly high-performance CA-IL-GN actuator can be considered to be a promising candidate for human-friendly electronics, including artificial muscles, flexible haptic devices, soft wearable devices, and bio-medical devices, due to its cost-effectiveness, large bending mechanical actuation, fast response, and bio-friendly functionalities.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Ecofriendly soft actuator based on cellulose acetate, graphene nanopowders, ionic liquid as plasticizer, and PEDOT:PSS as soft electrode. </LI> <LI> Proposed membrane exhibited increments in specific capacitance and Young’s modulus compare with a pure cellulose acetate actuator. </LI> <LI> Proposed actuator showed a 2.9 times larger bending deformation and a 4.8 times faster response than those of pure cellulose acetate actuator. </LI> </UL> </P>

      • Late Paleoproterozoic ultrahigh-temperature metamorphism in the Korean Peninsula

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The Paleoproterozoic rock record from the Sino-Korean Peninsula was fundamental to the models on evolution of the Asian continental collage and its relationship with the amalgamation and disruption of Proterozoic supercontinents such as Columbia and Rodinia. In this study, we present results from a comprehensive investigation on the khondalites in the Hongseong area, along the western part of the Gyeonggi massif within the central Korean Peninsula involving petrography, phase equilibria forward modeling, and zircon U-Pb geochronology, REE geochemistry and Lu – Hf isotopes. The <I>P-T</I> pseudosections show that the peak mineral assemblage of garnet + sillimanite + quartz + plagioclase + K-feldspar + ilmenite in the khondalite is stable at 7.5–9.6 kbar and 895–990 °C, corresponding to ultra-high temperature (UHT) metamorphism. We also report the first finding of corundum and quartz inclusions within sillimanite enclosed in garnet porphyroblast further confirming UHT metamorphism. The interpreted <I>P-T</I> path involves decompression and exhumation along a clockwise trajectory as suggested by the retrograde textures and mineral phase equilibria modeling.</P> <P>The detrital zircon U – Pb data from the khondalite show multiple age peaks for the magmatic population suggesting Neoarchean – Paleoproterozoic provenance. Metamorphic zircons from the khondalites yield ages of 1931 ± 33 Ma, 1871 ± 11 Ma and 1866 ± 10 Ma. The spot ages range from 1923 Ma to 1832 Ma suggesting either a long-lived metamorphic event or two distinct thermal events. The REE patterns of the zircon grains also clearly distinguish the magmatic and metamorphic populations. The garnet + sillimanite assemblage is considered to represent the peak UHT assemblage and the cordierite + biotite represents the post-peak retrograde assemblage. The ca. 1923–1832 Ma ages obtained in our study from metamorphic zircon domains correlate well with similar ages reported for metamorphism associated with the amalgamation of crustal blocks within the North China Craton. Our study suggests that the Late Paleoproterozoic UHT metamorphism in the central Korean Peninsula might be part of a common event within the Sino-Korean Craton related to the tectonics of final assembly of cratonic blocks within the Columbia supercontinent. Although a substantial volume of the Paleoproterozoic basement of the Korean Peninsula was destroyed and recycled during the Neoproterozoic and Phanerozoic tectonic events, the preserved remnants provide insights into the contiguity of the basements of the Korean Peninsula and the North China Craton.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> First precise documentation of ultrahigh-temperature metamorphism in Central Korean Peninsula. </LI> <LI> Discovery of corundum + quartz assemblage testifying to extreme thermal conditions. </LI> <LI> Metamorphic zircon grains define ages ranging from 1923 to 1823 Ma. </LI> <LI> Correlation with the North China Craton within the Sino-Korean continental collage. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Costunolide inhibits inflammation in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells and ameliorates gastric acid reflux-induced esophageal injury in rat model

        As one of the gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), reflux esophagitis (RE) severely affects patients’ daily lives. Costunolide (Cos), pertains to a sesquiterpene lactone, performs multiple pharmacological activities including inhibited acute liver injury, anti-inflammation and anti-oxidant. We carried out our study to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect and protective effects of Cos against esophageal tissue damage caused by gastric acid refluxing. The determination of anti-inflammatory effects of Cos were conducted using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 cell inflammatory model. The ameliorative effects of Cos on RE were confirmed on RE controlled rats model. The results indicated that Cos reduced nitrite production and inhibited cellular inflammation via regulating the activation of NF-κB. In addition, gastric acid reflux increased expression levels of inflammatory proteins (COX-2, TNF-α and IL-1β) in esophageal tissues, while Cos treatment significantly downregulated the expression of these proteins by inhibiting activation of NF-κB. Furthermore, through observing histological stain, Cos significantly improved esophageal damage caused by gastric acid reflux. Therefore, we suggested that Cos has the potential to be a material of natural drug for the treatment of reflux esophagitis caused by acid reflux.

        Wind-rain-induced vibration test and analytical method of high-voltage transmission tower

        A new computational approach for the rain load on the transmission tower is presented to obtain the responses of system subjected to the wind and rain combined excitations. First of all, according to the similarity theory, the aeroelastic modeling of high-voltage transmission tower is introduced and two kinds of typical aeroelastic models of transmission towers are manufactured for the wind tunnel tests, which are the antelope horn tower and pole tower. And then, a formula for the pressure time history of rain loads on the tower structure is put forward. The dynamic response analyses and experiments for the two kinds of models are carried out under the wind-induced and wind-rain-induced actions with the uniform and turbulent flow. It has been shown that the results of wind-rain-induced responses are bigger than those of only wind-induced responses and the rain load influence on the transmission tower can't be neglected during the strong rainstorm. The results calculated by the proposed method have a good agreement with those by the wind tunnel test. In addition, the wind-rain-induced responses along and across the wind direction are in the same order of response magnitude of towers.

        韩汉身体词“배”与“腹/肚”的语义延伸分析

        The abdomen belongs to a part of the body of the human body, and its related body-part terms can be regarded as “visible, felt” in vitro words; on the other hand, the abdomen includes abdominal wall, abdominal cavity and visceral organs, and it is related to the body words that are “invisible and unable to touch”. Therefore, the body-part terms related to the abdomen are both concrete and abstract. Heine et al.(1991)points out: “the conceptual domain has certain directivity.” This is the shift from the concrete “person” domain to the abstract “quality” domain. On the basis of the conceptual domain of Heine, the semantic extension of the Korean and Chinese body-part terms, “abdomen / belly”, is investigated in the order of person > animal > object > space > quantity > abstract concept domain. Its main contents are as follows. The semantic extension of the Korean body-part term “abdomen” is from the process of person > animal > object > space > quantity > abstract. The Chinese “abdomen” is in accordance with the process of person > animal > object > space > abstract process, and the extension meaning of Korean body word “abdomen” and Chinese body word “abdomen” is greater than difference. In addition to the meaning of “animal production times”, the extended meaning of Korean “abdomen” can be found in Chinese body words containing “abdomen”. However, the semantic extension of Chinese “abdomen” is more abundant in person and abstract domains. In the person domain, the “abdomen” can refer to “the protruding part of the finger or the calf”, and the “abdomen” can be combined with the “heart” for the person that can be trusted because of its functional importance, and the “belly” is able to borrow a pregnant person and a protruding person in the abdomen because of its appearance. In the spatial domain, the position of the abdomen in the body can also refer to “the front” and “the center”. In the process of semantic extension of Korean and Chinese body-part term, the main source of image is its structure, form, position and function. Structural features are more semantically transferred in the human domain itself based on metonymic mechanism of the whole generation. The direct perception of the morphological features is the strongest. It is the most easy to leave the mental image of the form and picture, and it is also the most likely to attract the attention of human to the appearance of other things. But there is no further meaning in terms of morphological characteristics. This is because the features of the morphology are characterized by a very high representational character. The more concrete, the greater the limitation of the development of the word meaning. “position” features like “morphologies” features, with strong intuitive perception, but “positional” features reflect a higher level of abstraction than “morphologies”. The expansion of the abdomen to the spatial domain is precisely because “location” is the spatial relationship between objects. The human abdomen is an important part of the trunk, including the stomach, the intestines, the kidney, the uterus and other visceral organs. Therefore, the human abdomen has the functions of digestion, excretion, and pregnancy, and the abdomen is closely related to the other parts of the body, such as “heart”, to develop into a more advanced abstract domain during the cognitive process. Extend the meaning of heart, idea, emotion, and so on.
