Characteristics of Korean ginseng varieties of Gumpoong, Sunun, Sunpoong, Sunone, Cheongsun, and Sunhyang

Background: Ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) is an important medicinal herbs in Asia. However, ginsengvarieties are less developed. Method: To developed ginseng varieties, a pure line selection method was applied in this study. Results: Gumpoong was testing of 4-yr-old specimens in 2002, the proportions of the below-groundroots that were rusty colored for Gumpoong was 1.29 in Daejeon and 1.45 in Eumseong, whereas theproportions for its yellow berry variant were 2.60 and 2.45 in the two regions, respectively. Thus theGumpoong was resistant to root rust. Sunpoong has a high yielding property. Its average root weight is70.6 g for 6-yr-old roots. Its yield is 2.9 kg/1.62m2 and the rate of heaven- and earth-grade product is20.9%, which is very high compared to 9.4% for Yunpoong. Sunone is resistance to root rot and thesurvival rate of 4-yr-old roots was 44.4% in 1997, whereas that of the violet-stem variant landrace was21.7%. Sunhyang has content of arginyl-fructosyl-glucose (AFG), which produces the unique scent of redginseng, is 95.1 mmol/g and greater than the 30.8 mmol/g of Chunpoong in 6-yr-old plants. Sunun andCheongsun are being nurtured to protect genetic resources. Conclusion: Developed ginsneg varieties will be used as the basis for the protection of genetic resourcesand breeding. Jang-Ho Lee

When the final finish of a building is designed with base concrete, complex deterioration occurs due to the harsh environment such as shrinkage and expansion due to external temperature changes, freezing and thawing, and the use of calcium chloride due to snow accumulation. Therefore, the pozzolanic reaction mechanism of blast furnace slag is clearly identified, and the causal relationship between the material properties and performance of the blast furnace slag is identified to present guidelines for mixing high-durability concrete.

Ch`eng jiong(程逈: 沙隨, 南宋人)`s The old divination method of the Yijing(周易古占法) is based on Shao K`ang-chieh(邵康節)`s Theory of Antedates Heaven(先天論), and make reference to divinations of Ch`un-ch`iu Tso-chuan(春秋左傳) and Guoyu(國語), however his explication is very wrong, now I try to refute. 1. Ch`eng jiong(程逈): T`ai-chi(太極, the Supreme Ultimate) have no direction and no body, such is spirit(神) and principle(理). Cheong yong(丁鏞)`s refutation: T`ai-chi in the Yijing is nothing but an imitation of the Universe. 2. Ch`eng jiong: Two Symbols(兩儀) are the first lines of C`ien(乾) and K`un(坤), three counts(三變) of Da yan(大衍). Four images(四象), in the same manner, are the first and second lines of C`ien and K`un, six counts(六變) of Da yan. Cheong yong`s refutation: Liang yi(兩儀) is two symbols, not two properties. Four images are an imitation of four seasons. 3. Ch`eng jiong: The eight primary trigrams(八卦) are three lines of C`ien and K`un, nine counts(九變) of Da yan. The hexagram(重卦) is mixed double with eight primary trigrams. Cheong yong`s refutation: It is difficult to understand how such a baseless fiction could have arisen. The eight primary trigrams are eight emblem.

경부고속철도 회생 에너지 저장시스템 성능 분석

Recently, various researches are conducted in the application of regenerative energy produced during the operation of an electric locomotive. Regenerative energy is produced by a generator in the brake procedure. The generator is operated by kinetic energy of an electric railroad using an electric motor. The process of producing regenerative energy varies with the current type of a railroad and its running condition. The quality of electric power can be improved and electric energy can be utilized effectively, especially in the use of an energy storage system (ESS). Thus, it is necessary to apply ESS into AC section and high speed railway. This study analyses the composition of the regenerative ESS equipment installed in Yong-Jeong sectioning post, operational principle, charge and discharge algorithm and energy efficiency. The analysis shows that CO2 emissions can be reduced about 0.5 ton per a day. In addition, ESS helps saving the energy and the compensation of the voltage drop caused by the operation of high speed train when it is installed at the end of the feeder section. The number of high speed train will be increased continuously related to the electrification rate. Therefore, applying the ESS to high speed railway is expected to solve the instability of the feeder voltage and the equipment capacity problem caused by the high speed trains.

T 세포활성항원 CTLA-4의 기능에 관한 연구 : T 세포에서 표적세포 살해능과 CTLA-4 발현과의 연관성 Target Cytotoxicity of T Cell Correlates with CTLA-4 Production

CTLA-4, a T cell activation antigen and a homologue of CD28, was originally identified as a gene by a series of reverse genetic approaches. While CD28 molecule has been characterized well as a stimulator of T-cell function via enhanced lymphokines production and stablilization of those mRNA, most of the functions of CTLA-4 remain unknown. It has been widely accepted that CTLA-4 functions as an immune suppressor which is down-regualting the function of CD28. We previously showed that 34 KD form of this antigen mainly expressed CD8+ subset, a cytotoxic or suppressor, of activated peripheral blood lymphocyte. Based on our previous finding this study was conducted to further characterize immunological function of CTLA-4 especially in terms of involvement of this molecule in T-cell effector function mediating target cell cytotoxicity. 4 human T cell clones with different target cytotoxicities were employed in this study. NBL46 (CD4+) and NBL77 (CD8+) were cytotoxic and NBL32 (CD4+) and NBL58 (CD 8+) were non-cytotoxic to target LBF cell in target cell chromium release assay. And in Western blot assay 34 kD antigen was detected in NBL46 (CD4+) and NBL77 (CD8+) clones but not in NBL32 (CD4+) and NBL58 (CD8+) clones. It was summarized that expression of the CTLA-4 antigen was associated with cytotoxicity but not with subset phenotypes of T cells. In conclusion CD8+ T subset of PHA-stimulated PBL was major and only CTLA-4 producer and this molecule was induced during mid to late stage of T cell activation. The cytotoxicity of T cell clones to its target cell was directly correlated with its CTLA-4 production and vice versa. And it was highly suggested that primary function of CTLA-4 may involved in T cell effector function which mediates target cell killing.

We had a result of the treatment as below when is devided Korean medicine Tx.. Western medical Tx., Cooperative Tx.. 1) At the improvement of BP control, an average in Korean medicine Tx. (from 170㎜Hg/100㎜Hg to 150㎜Hg/90㎜Hg), an average in Western medical Tr. (from 170㎜Hg/100㎜Hg to 130㎜Hg/80㎜Hg), an average in Cooperative Tx.(from 180㎜Hg/110㎜Hg to 130㎜Hg/90㎜Hg), generally all pars had improvements of BP control. But it is not significant of each case. 2) At the improvement of symptoms by the apologetics, Cooperative Tx. is profitable in cases of 'GanHwa',' DamEum', 'EumYangYangHer', 'EumHer'. Korean medicine Tx. is superior in case of 'GiChe'. 3) At the improvement of symptoms by a questionnaire, Korean medical Tx., Western medical Tx., Cooperative Tx. groups had improvements, but each practice group didn't have specific significance. Only it was somewhat profitable to Korean medical Tx. in the 210㎜Hg/110㎜Hg, Western medical Tx. in the 180㎜Hg/110㎜Hg, Cooperative Tx, in the 170㎜Hg/90㎜ Hg. 4) There are the apparent improvements in patients whose BP are over 200㎜Hg of Korean medical Tx. group, whose BP are over 190㎜Hg of Western medical Tx. group and whose BP are over 170㎜Mg of Cooperative Tx. group. There are the improvement of diastolic BP in 110㎜Mg(Korean medical Tx., Western medical Tx.) and 90㎜Hg(Cooperative Tx.). 5) At the improvement of Pulse pressure, generally Pulse pressure are decreased. There are similar improvements in all of Korean medical Tx., Western medical Tx., and Cooperative Tx.. 6) At the Symptomatic approvement according to ages, Korean medical Tx., Cooperative Tx. are somewhat good for his twentieth, and Western medical Tx. is somewhat good for his forties. 7) the correlation of Obesity-grade and BP, as Obesity-grade is higher as BP is higher, but there are no similarity in the improvement. 8) At the EAV improvements, as examination into correlation with the point of 1~3th, we could get results as below. There are high improvements of DRHTM, DRALM, DLLYM, DLLIM in Cooperative Tx. There are high improvements of DRPASI, DLLARI in the Korean medical Tx. group. There are high improvements of DRFADM in Western medical Tx. group.

건물의 에너지 효율을 위한 건축적 계획 방법 연구 : 자연실온과 환경 디자인 요소의 상관도 분석을 중심으로 Focused on Correlation Analysis of NART and Environmental Design Factors

This study intends to deriving the equation of non-airconditioned room temperature(hereafter referred to as NART) prediction from the correlation analysis of the influence of environmental design factors on the building. The relation between the NART and environmental design factors was analysed by using correlation coefficients. The equation of NART prediction was derived from the regression analysis by experimentation and simulation. In this study, the main results are summarized as follows: The average NART of experiment and simulation were evaluated to 22.0℃ and 22.6℃, respectively. An error of simulation was the 2.7%. The results from correlation analysis was con-elated with the daily average outdoor temperature, soil temperature, solar intensity, relative humidity, and air velocity in order. Con-elation coefficients of the daily average outdoor temperature, NART, and peak air conditioning load were over the 0.75. According to the sensitivity analysis of environmental design factors and air conditioning load in reference model, the influence of air infiltration and window surface ratio were more than outside insultion.

ATM망에서 실시간 연결수락제어에 관한 연구

본 논문은 이질적 버스트 트래픽을 갖는 ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) 망에서 실시간 연결 수락 제어를 위한 유체 흐름 모델(fluid flow model)에 기반을 둔 실시간 알고리즘을 제안한다. 셀 손실 확률은 QOS(Quality of Service)의 기준이 되므로 제안된 실시간 알고리즘은 일정한 메모리 크기와 연결 요청의 수락 여부 즉, 연결 수락 여부의 결정을 위한 하나의 영역을 필요로 한다. 이러한 트래픽 소스 각 타입에 대한 셀 손실 확률은 트래픽 소스 타입 전체에 하나만 존재하더라도 요구를 충족 시킬 수 없으므로, 본 논문에서 제안된 실시간 알고리즘에 의해 산출되는 각각의 셀 손실확률에 충분한 상한선을 제공하는 전형적 트래픽 매개변수를 사용하여 성능을 분석한다.

레슬링 선수들의 정신건강에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study is to determine how a wrestler's sex, age, match experience and education level relate to his/her psychological health. A sample group was formed from 197 male and female players (senior high-school level or higher) who participated in the 2002 Korean Wrestling Tournament. The players are registered with the Korea Wrestling Federation. The questionnaire, which contained total 94 questions (i.e., 4 on sociodemographic characteristics and 90 on psychological health-related factors), showed the confidence level falling between .5006 and .8844 (Cronbach's alpha). The study, which relied on frequency analysis, t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Scheffe test, produced the following results. First, wrestlers' psychological health showed no statistically significant difference with regard to all sub-variables depending on sex. Second, wrestlers' psychological health showed a statistically significant difference regarding overall psychological health, somatizing disorder, obsession, oversensitivity to others, depression and hostility depending on age while no difference was noticed regarding insecurity, fear, paranoia and psychosis. Third, wrestlers' psychological health showed a statistically significant difference regarding overall psychological health, somatizing disorder, obsession, depression, paranoia and psychosis depending on match experience while no difference was noticed regarding oversensitivity to others, insecurity, hostility and fear. Fourth, wrestlers' psychological health showed a statistically significant difference regarding overall psychological health, somatizing disorder, obsession, depression, insecurity and hostility depending on education level while no difference was noticed regarding oversensitivity to others, fear, paranoia and psychosis.
