      • A novel design method for improving collapse resistances of multi-story steel frames with unequal spans using steel braces

        Zheng Tan,Wei-hui Zhong,Bao Meng,Shi-chao Duan,Hong-chen Wang3,Xing-You Yao,Yu-hui Zheng 국제구조공학회 2023 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.47 No.2

The bearing capacities resisted by the two-bay beams of multi-story planar frames with unequal spans under column removal scenarios differ considerably owing to the asymmetric stress on the left and right beams connected to the failed column and cause the potential for beams with larger span-to-depth ratios to be unable to exert effectively, which is disadvantageous for resisting the vertical load in unequal-span frame structures. To address this problem, the structural measure of adding braces to the weak bays of multi-story unequal-span frames was proposed, with the objective of achieving a coordinated stress state in two-bay beams with unequal spans, thereby improving the collapse resistance of unequal-span frame structures. Before conducting the numerical simulation, the modeling methods were verified by previous experimental results of two multi-story planar frames with and without steel braces. Thereafter, the effects of the tensile and compressive braces on the collapse behavior of the frame structures were elucidated. Then, based on the mechanical action laws of the braces throughout the collapse process, a detailed design method for improving the collapse resistance of unequal-span frame structures was proposed. Finally, the proposed design method was verified by using sufficient example models, and the results demonstrated that the design method has good application prospects and high practical value.

H-mode experimental integrated modeling of impurity injection to control divertor heat flux on HL-2A

        Yu Peng,Huang Qianhong,Zhong Yijun,Wu Ting,Wang Jun,Wang Zhanhui,Gong Xue-yu 한국물리학회 2023 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.82 No.8

Based on the METIS integrated modeling platform, combined with the experimental data of the #34512 shot detached divertor operation on the HL-2A, this paper selects suitable physical models, and compares and analyzes the integrated modeling results with the experimental results. The modeling results are in good agreement with the experimental results. On this basis, the reason for the decrease of the peak heat fux on the divertor targets is investigated using the METIS simulator. The results show that the two factors of entering the H-mode and the radiation enhancement efect generated by impurity injection work together to reduce the heat fow on the targets. Finally, the diferent efects of N, Ar and Ne impurity gases on the heat fux reduction of the targets are simulated under the condition that the plasma line-average efective charge (Zef) is kept unchanged. The results show that N and Ar are both better than Ne in controlling the heat fow on the targets, and N has the best compatibility in the core, which can not only reduce the boundary heat fow but also maintain the core confnement performance.

      • Interaction of Coping Styles and Psychological Stress on Anxious and Depressive Symptoms in Chinese Breast Cancer Patients

        Wang, Xi,Wang, Shu-Sen,Peng, Rou-Jun,Qin, Tao,Shi, Yan-Xia,Teng, Xiao-Yu,Liu, Dong-Gen,Chen, Wei-Qing,Yuan, Zhong-Yu Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.4

Purpose: This study aimed to assess possible interactive effects of coping styles and psychological stress on depression and anxiety symptoms in Chinese women shortly after diagnosis of breast cancer. Methods: Four hundred and one patients with breast cancer were face-to-face interviewed by trained research staff according to a standardized questionnaire including information on socio-demographic characteristics, psychological stress, coping styles, and anxiety and depressive symptoms. Interactive effects were assessed by hierarchical multiple regression analyses. Results: There were significant associations of the four domains of psychological stress with anxiety and depressive symptoms except for the relationship between "worrying about health being harmed" and depressive symptoms. "Abreaction coping behavior" and "escaping coping behavior" significantly increased the level of both anxiety and depressive symptoms; whereas an "active coping style" reswulted in significant decrease. The interaction of "active coping behavior" with "worrying about health being harmed" significantly increased the risk of the anxiety symptoms, while adopting "self-relaxing coping behavior" was associated with significant decrease. The interaction of "worry about daily life and social relationship being restricted" with "escaping coping behavior" significantly increased the risk of the depressive symptoms. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that certain coping styles might moderate the association of psychological stress with anxiety and depressive symptoms in Chinese women with breast cancer.

Mapping Quantitative Trait Loci for Leaf and Heading-related Traits in Chinese Cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinesis)

        Yu Ge,Nirala Ramchiary,Tao Wang,Cui Liang,Na Wang,Zhe Wang,최수련,임용표,Zhong Yun Piao 한국원예학회 2011 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.52 No.5

The inheritance of leaf and heading-related traits in Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis) are poorly understood since only a handful of studies of these traits are available till date. In this study, QTL mapping was done for seven leaf and heading related traits that includes gross weight, number of non-wrapper leaves, head weight, head length, head width, head length/head width ratio, and the number of head-forming leaves in 139 F3 families derived from a cross between two diverse Chinese cabbage lines, ‘501’ with small head and ‘601’ with large head. A total of 27 QTL spread over the nine linkage groups were identified for seven leaf and head-related traits, many of which showed major effects clustered in A2, A4,A6, and A8. The results provided a better understanding of the genetic factors controlling leaf and head-related traits in Chinese cabbage.

Study on Degradation Mechanism of Carbon Fiber-reinforced Anhydride-cured Resin-based Matrix Composites by a Benzyl Alcohol/NaOH System

        Zhong-yu Si,Zhong-xiao Sun,Lianwei Ye,Ai-jun Gao,Yu Wang 한국섬유공학회 2022 Fibers and polymers Vol.23 No.11

In recent years, with the increasing demand for carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP), the recycling of its wastehas become a serious problem that restricts the wider application of CFRP. This study used a benzyl alcohol/NaOH system atatmospheric pressure to degrade the CFRP of epoxy-resin matrix cured by anhydride, and the influence of NaOH dosage ondegradation rate was investigated. The degradation mechanism of the resin was analyzed using Fourier transform infraredspectroscopy, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and Electro-Spray Ionization-Mass Spectroscopy. The structure andproperties of the recycled carbon fibers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectronspectroscopy and a monofilament tensile strength test. The experimental results indicated that the benzyloxy nucleophilicgroup produced by benzyl alcohol in alkaline conditions selectively attacked the cross-linking ester bond of the resin andbroke the c ross-linking point. Finally, the resin was degraded by removing the curing agent. When the m ass ratio of NaOH toCFRP (w(NaOH):w(CFRP)) was not under 1:1 and the reaction conditions were 190 °C, 1 h and atmospheric pressure, thedegradation rate of the resin reached 98.4 %. The degradation products of the resin were insoluble in benzyl alcohol andprecipitated, which was conducive to the recovery and reuse of the benzyl alcohol. The surface oxygen content of therecycled carbon fiber was similar to that of the original carbon fiber, and the tensile strength of recycled carbon fibermonofilament remained above 95 % of the original.

First-Principles Study of the Influence of Zirconium on the Diffusion of Uranium Defects in Uranium Dioxide

        Huan Wang,Yu Zou,Zhong Zhang,Kai-Yuan Wang,Huan An,Chang-Yong Zhan,Jun Wang,Jian-Chun Wu 한국물리학회 2019 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.74 No.8

The migration properties of uranium vacancies and interstitials in zirconium-doped uranium dioxide are studied by using density functional theory (DFT) and the climbing-image nudge elastic band (CI-NEB) method. The strong correlations among uranium $5f$ electrons were described by using a spherically averaged Hubbard parameter. In the model, the zirconium atoms are introduced by replacing the uranium atoms at the nearest and the next nearest neighbor sites along the diffusion path of uranium defects. The doping with zirconium obviously reduces the migration barriers for defects in uranium dioxide. The effect of doping with zirconium on the diffusion of uranium defects decreases with increasing distance between the zirconium dopant and the uranium defects. Further, we investigated the lattice distortion and the electron transfer associated with the migration of uranium defects, and we analyzed the physical origin of the reduction in the migration barriers caused by zirconium doping.

Identification and expression profiles of chitin deacetylase genes in the rice leaf folder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis

        Hai-Zhong Yu,Ming-Hui Liu,Xue-Yang Wang,Xin Yang,Wan-Ling Wang,Lei Geng,Dong Yu,Xue-Lan Liu,Gui-Ying Liu,Jia-Ping Xu 한국응용곤충학회 2016 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.19 No.3

Chitin deacetylase (CDA) is an insect chitin degradation enzyme that catalyzes the deacetylation of chitin to form chitosan. In this study, combination of rapid-amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) technology with Cnaphalocrocis medinalis transcriptome database analysis revealed the presence of at least five C. medinalis CDAs (CmCDAs), which were CmCDA1, CmCDA2, CmCDA4, CmCDA5, and CmCDA6. The cDNA sequences of CmCDA1, CmCDA2, and CmCDA4 hadwhole open reading frame (ORF) for further analysis. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that insect CDAs could be categorized into five groups. CmCDAs' structural domain analysis revealed that all three CDAs contained the chitin deacetylase-like catalytic domain. CmCDA1 and CmCDA2 belong to Group I because they both contain the chitin-binding peritrophin-A domain (ChBD), low-density lipoprotein receptor class A domain (LDLa), and chitin deacetylase-like catalytic domain. CmCDA4 only contains ChBD and chitin deacetylase-like catalytic domain thus belongs to Group III. Tissue and developmental stage expression analysis showed that the expression levels of CmCDA1, CmCDA2, and CmCDA4 are significantly higher in the head than other tissues and also significantly higher in adults than in larvae. CmCDA5 had significantly higher expression in the integument than other tissues, suggesting potential roles in the process of degradation of chitin. In contrast, CmCDA5 showed relatively high expression in larvae. In conclusion, this study analyzed the cDNA sequences of three CDA genes and determined their expression and molecular characteristics, which provided a new sequence resource and improved the development of bio-pesticides and the biological pest control and contributed to management of this important agricultural pest.

      • Sex-related Differences in DNA Copy Number Alterations in Hepatitis B Virus-Associated Hepatocellular Carcinoma

        Zhu, Zhong-Zheng,Wang, Dong,Cong, Wen-Ming,Jiang, Hongmei,Yu, Yue,Wen, Bing-Ji,Dong, Hui,Zhang, Xiao,Liu, Shu-Fang,Wang, Ai-Zhong,Zhu, Guanshan,Hou, Lifang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.1

Background: Males have a higher prevalence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) than females in general, but the reasons for the sex disparity are still obscure. DNA copy number alteration (CNA) is a major feature of solid tumors including HCC, but whether CNA plays a role in sex-related differences in HCC development has never been evaluated. Methods: High-resolution array comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) was used to examine 17 female and 46 male HCC patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in Shanghai, China. Two-tailed Fisher's exact or ${\chi}^2$ tests was used to compare CNAs between females and males. Results: The overall frequencies and patterns of CNAs in female and male cases were similar. However, female HCC tumors presented more copy number gains compared to those in males on 1q21.3-q22 (76.5% vs. 37.0%, P = 0.009), 11q11 (35.3% vs. 0.0%, P = 0.0002) and 19q13.31-q13.32 (23.5% vs. 0.0%, P = 0.004), and loss on 16p11.2 (35.3% vs. 6.5%, P = 0.009). Relative to females, male cases had greater copy number loss on 11q11 (63.0% vs. 17.6%, P = 0.002). Further analyses showed that 11q11 gain correlated with 19q13.31-q13.32 gain (P = 0.042), 11q11 loss (P = 0.011) and 16p11.2 loss (P = 0.033), while 1q21.3-q22 gain correlated with 19q13.31-q13.32 gain (P = 0.046). Conclusions: These findings suggest that CNAs may play a role in sex-related differences in HBVassociated HCC development.

Development and linkage mapping of unigene-derived microsatellite markers in <i>Brassica rapa</i> L.

        Ge, Yu,Ramchiary, Nirala,Wang, Tao,Liang, Cui,Wang, Na,Wang, Zhe,Choi, Su-Ryun,Lim, Yong Pyo,Piao, Zhong Yun Japanese Society of Breeding 2011 Breeding science Vol.61 No.2

<P><I>Brassica rapa</I> plants are highly important as vegetables, sources of oilseeds and fodder crop. Here, we developed 450 unigene derived microsatellite (UGMS) markers in <I>B. rapa</I> using unigenes downloaded from the National Center for Biotechnology Information database. Of the 450 UGMS primer pairs, 428 (95.1%) produced repeatable and reliable amplifications of expected size in at least one parental line of <I>B. rapa</I>, and 70 UGMS markers gave 72 polymorphic loci between the two contrasting parental lines. Cross-species transferability analysis of these 70 polymorphic UGMS markers in five other cultivated <I>Brassica</I> species showed varying transferability rates ranging from 82.9% in <I>B. nigra</I> to 97.1% in <I>B. juncea</I> and <I>B. napus</I>, and overall 53 UGMS markers amplified targets in all five species. The <I>B. rapa</I> linkage map was constructed using the 72 UGMS polymorphic loci and 154 previously developed SSRs. The newly developed UGMS markers and linkage map in this study would help in future studies to better understand the organization and evolution of <I>Brassica</I> genomes with respect to unigenes, in addition to mapping, tagging and cloning of economically important trait QTL/gene(s) and marker-assisted breeding in <I>Brassica</I> crops.</P>
