        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of Gyeongju and Pohang earthquakes during the examinees’ life. Methods: This study applied Colaizzis’s Phenomenological method. The Data was collected through in-depth interviews with a total 8 students of university in Seoul. Results: On the analysis of the interviews, their experience can be expressed as ‘Feeling embarrassed and frightened by earthquakes’, ‘Reduced susceptibility to earthquake hazards due to heavy exam pressure’, ‘Increased exam stress due to earthquake’, ‘Feeling the inadequacy of examinees' earthquake related safety measures in retrospect’. Conclusion: This study was meaningful in deeply understanding of their experiences and revealing that the examinees were more focused on studying rather than actively coping with the disaster. Furthermore, it reconsider the social climate surrounding college admission exams. This study meaningfully discovered that examinees could not stably prepare for both the exam and the earthquake evacuation procedures due to the timing of the earthquake in relation to their upcoming college admission test. Therefore, this study highlighted the examinees’ difficulties due to the earthquakes and increased the necessity of acute phase nursing intervention in relation to the seismic safety education system.

        유형별 완전혼합사료 급여가 반추위내의 발효성상 및 영양소 소화율에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to examine effects of feeding dry TMR(DTMR), wet TMR(WTMR) and fermented TMR(FTMR) on rumen fermentation, enzyme activity and digestibility in the total tract of sheep. Three rumen cannulated sheep were used in a 3 × 3 latin square design. The present results showed that ?, NH_(3)-N, total and individual VFA, A/P ratio and enzymes (CMCase, Xylanase and Protease) activity in the rumen were higher in WTMR and FTMR compared with DTMR. In addition, dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, ether extract, NDF and ADF digestibility in the total tract were also higher in WTMR and FTMR compared with DTMR. Therefore, the present results showed that WTMR and FTMr are better than DTMR for rumen fermentation and nutrients digestibility.

      • Self-adaptive Si/reduced graphene oxide scrolls for high-performance Li-ion battery anodes

        <P>A Si/C composite with Si nanoparticles (nSi) uniformly dispersed in the interlayers of reduced graphene oxide scrolls (rGS) is successfully developed for high-performance Li-ion battery anodes. The rGS can deform reversibly with the repeated expansion/contraction of nSi to maintain contact between the nSi and the conductive rGS network, which can effectively buffer large volume changes and maintain continuous large-area core-shell electrical contact. Additionally, the continuous electrical network of rGS greatly enhances the electrical conductivity, and the open structures at the ends and sides of rGS provide paths for rapid diffusion of Li ions, thus enhancing the rate performance. By virtue of the rational design, the composite shows a high reversible specific capacity of 2030 mA h g(-1) at 0.2 A g(-1), high cycling stability of 1200 mA h g(-1) at 4 A g(-1) with 99.2% capacity retention after 200 cycles, and an excellent rate performance of 1000 mA h g(-1) even at 8 A g(-1).         Protective effects of vitamins C and E on dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane-induced genotoxicity and hepatotoxicity in human liver cells

        Dichlorodiphenoxytrichloroethane (DDT), a persistent organic pollutant and hepatotoxicant, is used to control the malaria. However, scarce information exists on relevant effective inhibitors of DDT’ toxicity. The aim of this study was to investigate protective effects of natural antioxidants vitamin C (VC) or/and vitamin E (VE) on p,pʹ-DDT-induced genotoxicity and hepatotoxicity in human liver cells. p,pʹ-DDT exposure increased levels of chromatin condensation, comet parameter, micronucleus induction and DPC coefficient of HL-7702 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Also, an increase in mRNA levels of CYP1A1 as well as CYP3A4, and a decrease in UGT along with GST were observed. Interestingly, supplementation with VC or/and VE prevented p,pʹ-DDT-caused alterations in DNA damage and phase metabolism gene expressions, and the combination of VC and VE had a more protective effect than VC or VE alone. These findings illustrated that VC or/and VE could be beneficial for the alleviation of p,pʹ-DDT-incurred toxicity in human liver cells.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between job stress, body mass index and waist circumference among middle aged male workers. Methods: Using a descriptive correlation study design, a total of 122 middle aged male workers were recruited through convenience sampling from November 8 to December 13, 2015. The questionnaire included in this study were general characteristics and the Korean Occupational Stress Scale-Short Form (KOSS-SF). Data were statistically analyzed using SPSS windows version 22 program with Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Results: A significant relationship was found between job stress, body mass index (p=.043) and waist circumference (p=.007). Conclusion: These results suggest that high job stress are significantly associated with both body mass index and waist circumference of middle aged male workers. This implies a need for intervention that focuses on reducing obesity and metabolic syndrome influenced by job stress.

      • A new constructive neural network method for noise processing and its application on stock market prediction

        In this paper, in order to optimize neural network architecture and generalization, after analyzing the reasons of overfitting and poor generalization of the neural networks, we presented a class of constructive decay RBF neural networks to repair the singular value of a continuous function with finite number of jumping discontinuity points. We proved that a function with m jumping discontinuity points can be approximated by a simplest neural network and a decay RBF neural network in L<SUP>2</SUP>(@?) by each @? error, and a function with m jumping discontinuity point y=f(x),x@?E@?@?<SUP>d</SUP> can be constructively approximated by a decay RBF neural network in L<SUP>2</SUP>(@?<SUP>d</SUP>) by each ε>0 error. Then the whole networks will have less hidden neurons and well generalization in the same of the first part. A real world problem about stock closing price with jumping discontinuity have been presented and verified the correctness of the theory.

        재래 흑돼지와 중국 재래돈간의 Melanocortin Receptor 1(MC1R) 유전자의 유전자형 분석

        PCR-RFLP analysis of Melanocortin receptor 1 (MC1R) gene was carried out to investigate the genotype distribution in Korean-Native and Chinese-Native pig breeds(Neijiang, Putian, Wannanhua and Jinhua). Allelic variants of MC1R in pigs were analyzed by digestion of BspH I , AccII and Hha I . Ncijiang. Wannanhua and Jinhua had only MC1R*2 allele which is considered to be typical genotype for Meishan and Large Black. Among 20 Korean-Native Pigs and 5 Putian pigs, 10 and 2 heads had the MC1R*3 allele (*2/3 or 3/3), respectively, which was detected in European pig breeds such as Hampshire, Large White, and Pietrain. The remaining animals possessed the genotype MC1R*2/2, probably reflecting the genetic introgression of MC1R*3 allele into Korean-Native and Putian pig breeds by the crossbreeding for improvement. The alleles MC1R*l and MC1R*4, which are considered to be typical allele for European Wild Boar with wild-type coat color and Duroc with red coat color, respectively, were not detected in pig breeds used in this experiment. These results indicate that the analysis of genotype frequencies of MC1R gene may be a useful tool for the conservation of Korean-Native and Chinese-Native pig breeds.

      • A Phase 3 Evaluation of Daclatasvir plus Asunaprevir in Treatment-Naive Patients with Chronic HCV Genotype 1b Infection

        Background/Aims: Treatment-naive GT 1b-infected patients from mainland China, South Korea and Russia were assessed for SVR at follow-up week 12 (SVR12) after receiving daclatasvir (60 mg, QD) and asunaprevir (100 mg, BID) (DCV+ASV). Methods: Patients were randomized 3:1 to receive DCV+ASV (24 weeks; immediate treatment [IM]) or 12 weeks of placebo followed by DCV+ASV (24 weeks; placebo-deferred treatment [PD]). The primary endpoint was to evaluate SVR12 in the IM arm to the historical rate for peginterferon/ribavirin (70%). Secondary endpoints included overall safety and safety comparisons between the treatment arms during the first 12 weeks. Results: 207 patients were randomized to IM (n=155) or PD (n=52); Asian (86%), female (59%), IL28B CC genotype (68%) and median age 49 (range 18-73) years; cirrhosis (13%), HCV RNA ≥6x106 IU/mL (53%). SVR12 in the IM arm was 92% and broadly unaffected by most baseline factors assessed (Figure); SVR12 was higher in patients without (96%) baseline NS5A-L31M/V or Y93H polymorphisms. There were 6 virologic breakthroughs, 6 relapses and 1 detectable HCV RNA at end-of-treatment in the IM arm. Safety was mostly comparable between the two arms during the first 12 weeks. The most frequent adverse events (AEs; ≥5%) during DCV+ASV (24 weeks) treatment in both arms were aminotransferase, bilirubin and INR elevations, hypertension, fatigue and respiratory tract infections; the most frequent treatment-emergent grade 3/4 laboratory abnormalities were aminotransferase (≤4.5%) and hematologic, lipase and total bilirubin abnormalities (≤2%); one patient (IM) discontinued DCV+ASV for aminotransferase elevations, nausea and jaundice (all reversible); one patient PD) discontinued DCV+ASV for a fatal AE unrelated to treatment. Conclusions: These data demonstrate that DCV+ASV is a highly efficacious and well tolerated treatment for treatment-naive HCV GT 1b-infected patients. Those treated immediately with DCV+ASV achieved a 92% SVR12 rate which was unaffected by factors known to attenuate response to interferon.

        Chelant-enhanced washing of CCA-contaminated soil: Coupled with selective dissolution or soil stabilization

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Remediation of CCA-contaminated soil (Cr, Cu, and As) by biodegradable chelant-enhanced washing (EDDS, <I>S,S</I>-ethylene-diamine-disuccinic-acid) needs further enhancement. This study investigated the effectiveness of coupling with pre-treatment by selective dissolution and post-treatment by soil amendments, respectively. Three groups of reagents (reductants, alkaline solvents, and organic ligands) were adopted in the pre-treatment to dissolve the oxide minerals before EDDS extraction. In the post-treatment, soil amendments (coal fly ash (CFA), acid mine drainage sludge (AMDS), green waste compost (GWC)), and their mixtures) were used for a 2-month stabilization after 2-h EDDS washing. Multi-endpoint evaluation was performed by assessing the chemical state, leachability, mobility, bioaccessibility, and plant-availability of residual metal(loid)s as well as the cytotoxicity, enzyme activities, and available nutrients of the treated soils. Pre-treatment by dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate significantly enhanced extraction efficiency, but also increased the leachability of As and Cr and bioaccessibility of Cr in the treated soils. While sodium hydroxide removed the majority of As without increasing its leachability and bioaccessibility, it increased the cytotoxicity and inhibited the acid phosphatase activity. Post-treatment with AMDS and CFA effectively controlled the mobility and leachability of residual As and Cr after EDDS washing. However, destabilized Cu was only marginally immobilized by GWC due to strong Cu-EDDS complexation. The bioaccessibility and phytoavailability of Cu was primarily reduced by EDDS washing, while those of As and Cr could be attenuated by AMDS and CFA.         Evolution of self-assembled Ag nanostructures on c-plane sapphire by the systematic control of annealing temperature

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The morphological evolution of various Ag nanostructures on <I>c</I>-plane sapphire is systematically investigated through the solid-state-dewetting by the control of annealing temperature between 200 and 950 °C with the Ag films of 60 and 10 nm. Various configurations of Ag nanostructures including Ag voids, wiggly and round nanoparticles are fabricated with the 60 nm due to the annealing temperature dependent surface diffusion, surface energy minimization and Ag sublimation. As a sharp distinction, highly dense semi-spherical nanoparticles are fabricated with the 10 nm set throughout the temperature range due to a much higher dewetting degree induced by the enhanced surface diffusion with a much thinner film. The reflectance spectra shows a spectral shift along with the size variation, i.e. blue shift with the decreased size and vice versa.
