Polyethylenimine Grafted Chitosan Nanofiber Membrane as Adsorbent for Selective Elimination of Anionic Dyes

        Xinwen Gong,Dongxue Yang,Nannan Wang,Shian Sun,Jun Nie,Guiping Ma 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.10

In order to improve the adsorption capacity of chitosan to organic dyes, the amino rich functionalized chitosanelectrospun nanofibers membrane was prepared. In the process of high efficiency synthesis, PGMA and PEI were grafted onthe surface of CS NFMs in turn. By means of XRD, ATR-FTIR and XPS, the successful introduction of amino group into CSwas confirmed. The selective adsorption capacity of CS-PGMA-PEI NFMs for anionic dyes was studied. The adsorptionkinetics analysis shows that the adsorption process of CS-PGMA-PEI NFMs is mainly pseudo second-order model. Itsadsorption isotherms can be described by the Langmuir model and it conforms to monolayer adsorption. The maximumadsorption capacity of Congo red calculated by Langmuir model is 657.47 mg/g. CS-PGMA-PEI NFMs has selectiveadsorption capacity for Congo red/methylene blue mixture. CS-PGMA-PEI NFMs also showed good circulation stability. This study provides a method for the synthesis of water purification membrane.

The Associations of Family Functioning, General Well-Being, and Exercise with Mental Health among End-Stage Renal Disease Patients

        Qi Wang,Hongjian Liu,Zheng Ren,Wenjing Xiong,Minfu He,Nan Li,Xinwen Fan,Xia Guo,Xiangrong Li,Hong Shi,Shuang Zha,Xiumin Zhang 대한신경정신의학회 2020 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.17 No.4

Objective This study aims to explore the relationships of family functioning, general well-being, and exercise with psychological distress. Furthermore, we investigated the special roles of general well-being and exercise on the association between family functioning and psychological distress. Methods Of 769 end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients participated in the cross-sectional study which consisted of the 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12), the Family APGAR Scales, and the General Well-Being Schedule. The collected data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis and path analysis. Results The prevalence of psychological distress was 72.3%. Family functioning, general well-being and exercise were associated factors of psychological distress (p<0.05). The indirect effect of family functioning on psychological distress was partially mediated by general well-being (Effect=-0.08, 95% CI=-0.11, -0.04). In addition, the effect of family functioning on general well-being was moderated by exercise (Index=-0.092, SE=0.033, 95% CI=-0.159, -0.029). Conclusion The prevalence of psychological distress among ESRD patients was high. Family functioning, general well-being and exercise were associated with psychological distress. Family functioning could affect psychological distress partially by affecting general wellbeing. Furthermore, exercise had a significant moderating effect on the relationship between family functioning and general well-being.

Genes involved in keratinization, keratinocyte and epithelium differentiation are aberrantly regulated in oral lichen planus

        Qing Liu,Yuan Liu,Xinwen Wang,Jie Xu,Wei Zhou 한국유전학회 2015 Genes & Genomics Vol.37 No.9

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a common inflammatory oral mucosal disease and a potential premalignant status of oral squamous cell carcinoma. This study aims to explore the molecular mechanisms of OLP. The gene expression dataset (GSE38616) of OLP tissues and healthy controls was downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus database. After preprocessing the raw data through affy package, limma package was utilized to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) (criteria: p B 0.05 and |log2 fold change| C 2). Then, functional and pathway enrichment analyses were performed by using DAVID software (criterion: p value \0.1). Besides, STRING sever was utilized to investigate protein–protein interactions (PPIs) based on which PPI network was constructed (criterion: combined score [0.4). Finally, the transcription factor binding sites (TFBSs) of DEGs were predicted through WGRV software (criterion: p value \0.0001). A total of ten DEGs were identified, including two down-regulated and eight up-regulated DEGs, which were enriched in nine functions mainly about keratinization, differentiation and development of keratinocyte and epithelium. Besides, PPI network was constructed, and CXCL13 was a hub gene. Furthermore, four conserved TFBSs (AR, dlx3, ALX-3, and Msx-1) were co-existed in SLC6A14, CXCL13, and CDSN. CDSN, LCE3D, LCE3E, and SPRR2B might play a role in OLP through participating in keratinization, differentiation and development of keratinocyte and epithelium, while EIF1AY, WFDC12, and CXCL13 might participate in OLP through regulating inflammation and immunity. These predictions might promote the understanding of OLP mechanism. However, further studies are required to validate the bioinformatics outcomes.

Intelligent Matching Assembly: System Design Based on Reuse of Ultra-Difference Parts

        Yongjie Zhang,Kang Cao,Zhiqiang Cai,Xinwen Wang,Wei Jin 한국정밀공학회 2021 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.22 No.7

As the industrial digitalization has been recently leaping forward, high-efficiency production processes emerge, and assembly integration technologies are being progressively developed. For high-tech industries (e.g., aerospace manufacturing), however, unprecedented challenges are imposed on the conventional assembly manufacturing process technology. To be specific, the shallow digitizing and intelligent technologies fail to satisfy the rising requirements for efficiency, pass rates and cost; in particular, the way to down-regulate the unqualified rate and assembly cost of parts production remains unclear. In the present study, an intelligent matching assembly system was designed for reapplying out-of-tolerance parts. In addition, the concept of the mating base is proposed. Next, the fi t relation between parts is quantified by employing the functional expression of dimension data, and such a relation is characterized as a function constraint with a variable of dimension. Moreover, the designed intelligent matching system was introduced into the existing assembly process to reemploy a number of unqualified parts and determine the matching parts most suitable for the original unqualified parts. On that basis, the most suitable parts are enabled to be involved in the assembly activities, as an attempt to satisfy the design requirements. To efficiently find the optimal matching scheme in the database of the unqualified parts and most effectively employ the unqualified parts, a set of optimal matching algorithms are proposed, thereby significantly down-regulating the production cost. Lastly, Monte Carlo method was adopted to simulate the actual production data, and the optimal matching scheme determined by the intelligent matching system was analyzed and assessed, which verified the effectiveness and practicability of the system.

Predicting Pathological Complete Response in Breast Cancer After Two Cycles of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy by Tumor Reduction Rate: A Retrospective Case-Control Study

        Litong Yao,Xiaoyan Liu,Mozhi Wang,Keda Yu,Shouping Xu,Pengfei Qiu,Zhidong Lv,Xinwen Zhang,Yingying Xu 한국유방암학회 2023 Journal of breast cancer Vol.26 No.2

Purpose: We aimed to identify effectiveness-associated indicators and evaluate the optimal tumor reduction rate (TRR) after two cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in patients with invasive breast cancer. Methods: This retrospective case-control study included patients who underwent at least four cycles of NAC at the Department of Breast Surgery between February 2013 and February 2020. A regression nomogram model for predicting pathological responses was constructed based on potential indicators. Results: A total of 784 patients were included, of whom 170 (21.68%) reported pathological complete response (pCR) after NAC and 614 (78.32%) had residual invasive tumors. The clinical T stage, clinical N stage, molecular subtype, and TRR were identified as independent predictors of pCR. Patients with a TRR > 35% were more likely to achieve pCR (odds ratio, 5.396; 95% confidence interval [CI], 3.299–8.825). The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was plotted using the probability value, and the area under the ROC curve was 0.892 (95% CI, 0.863–0.922). Conclusion: TRR > 35% is predictive of pCR after two cycles of NAC, and an early evaluation model using a nomogram based on five indicators, age, clinical T stage, clinical N stage, molecular subtype, and TRR, is applicable in patients with invasive breast cancer.

Total ginsenosides suppress monocrotaline-induced pulmonary hypertension in rats: involvement of nitric oxide and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways

        Qin, Na,Yang, Wei,Feng, Dongxu,Wang, Xinwen,Qi, Muyao,Du, Tianxin,Sun, Hongzhi,Wu, Shufang The Korean Society of Ginseng 2016 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.40 No.3

Background: Ginsenosides have been shown to exert beneficial pharmacological effects on the central nervous, cardiovascular, and endocrine systems. We sought to determine whether total ginsenosides (TG) inhibit monocrotaline (MCT)-induced pulmonary hypertension and to elucidate the underlying mechanism. Methods: MCT-intoxicated rats were treated with gradient doses of TG, with or without $N^G$-nitro-$\small{L}$-arginine methyl ester. The levels of molecules involving the regulation of nitric oxide and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways were determined. Results: TG ameliorated MCT-induced pulmonary hypertension in a dose-dependent manner, as assessed by the right ventricular systolic pressure, the right ventricular hypertrophy index, and pulmonary arterial remodeling. Furthermore, TG increased the levels of pulmonary nitric oxide, endothelial nitric oxide synthase, and cyclic guanosine monophosphate. Lastly, TG increased mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase-1 expression and promoted the dephosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases 1/2, p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase, and c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase 1/2. Conclusion: TG attenuates MCT-induced pulmonary hypertension, which may involve in part the regulation of nitric oxide and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways.

Experimental Study on the Penetration of Natural Unsaturated and Collapsible Loess Based on the Permeability Velocity

        Xin Wen,Yanlin Jing,Zhiping Hu,Jigang Shao,Jieru Li,Rui Wang 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.25 No.12

It is of great importance to study the behavior of loess moisture infiltration based on the loess permeability velocity to prevent geological disasters by loess collapsibility and get effective solutions for the problems of practical engineering. In this study, a custom-made permeation device was used to measure the permeation velocity of collapsible loess before and after water immersion and consolidation. The infiltration characteristics of the undisturbed collapsible loess under different consolidation pressures were discussed, and the influence of the pore characteristics on the permeability velocity was analyzed by the mercury injection test. Meanwhile, the correlations of various types of pores on the permeability velocity were studied by the gray relational entropy method to further reveal the water infiltration mechanism in loess. The results showed that the soil is compressed after consolidation and immersion tests, and the pore volume and pore diameter decreases. However, permeability velocity increases rather than decreases, and the self-weight collapsible state has the most significant permeability velocity. To the collapsible loess, the permeability velocity decreases with the increase of soil pore area. Additionally, small pores show the strongest correlation with permeability velocity. The conclusions of this study have a positive role in guiding foundation treatments and slope stability in collapsible loess areas.
