      • Elevated TRAF2/6 expression in Parkinson's disease is caused by the loss of Parkin E3 ligase activity.

        <P>Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second leading neurodegenerative disease, and is known to be induced by environmental factors or genetic mutations. Among the verified genetic mutations of PD, Parkin, isolated from the PARK2 locus, shows an autosomal recessive inheritance pattern and is known to be an E3 ligase. However, the physiological target of Parkin and the molecular mechanism of Parkin-deficiency-induced PD have not been clearly demonstrated until now. It has recently been proposed that inflammation, suggesting as a causal factor for PD, is enhanced by Parkin deficiency. Thus, we examined the relationship between inflammation-related factors and Parkin. Here, we provide the evidence that Parkin suppresses inflammation and cytokine-induced cell death by promoting the proteasomal degradation of TRAF2/6 (TNF-α receptor-associated factor 2/6). Overexpression of Parkin can reduce the half-lives of TRAF2 and TRAF6, whereas si-Parkin can extend them. However, mutant Parkins did not alter the expression of TRAF2/6. Thus, loss of Parkin enhances sensitivity to TNF-α- or IL-1β-induced JNK activation and NF-κB activation. Indeed, si-Parkin-induced apoptosis is suppressed by the knockdown of TRAF6 or TRAF2. We also observed elevated expression levels of TRAF6 and a reduction of IκB in an 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine-induced PD mouse model. Moreover, elevated expression levels or aggregation of TRAF6 were detected in approximately half of the human PD tissues (7/15 cases) and 2 cases, respectively. In addition, TRAF6 and Parkin expression levels show a reverse relationship in human PD tissues. Our results strongly suggest that the reduction of Parkin or overexpression of TRAF2/6 by chronic inflammation would be the reason for occurrence of PD.</P>

No effective antiviral therapy is proven yet, but clinical use of ribavirin (RBV) has been tried. We investigated the antiviral effect of RBV against SFTSV in vitro. Methods: To test for cytotoxicity of RBV, Vero cells were treated with different concentrations of RBV (3.90 to 500 μg/mL, two-fold dilution) and analyzed by cell viability MTS assay 48h post-infection. To determine antiviral activity of RBV against SFTSV, Vero cells were infected with SFTSV strain Gangwon/Korea/2012 at 100 TCID50 (50% tissue culture infective dose) per well in a 96-well plate, and RBV was added at the concentrations showing no or minimal cytotoxicity. Viral RNAs were extracted from the culture supernatants and quantifi ed using one-step real-time reverse transcription- PCR to amplify the partial large segment of SFTSV. Statistical analysis was done by one-way ANOVA with Tukey`s post hoc test. Results: Cytotoxicity due to RBV was not observed at RBV concentration =31.3 μg/ mL. Viral RNAs at 24h post-RBV treatment were reduced with increasing RBV concentrations (1-32 μg/mL), compared with those of mock-treated cells (P <0.01, Figure). Half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of RBV was 3.69 μg/mL at 24h post-RBV treatment. Conclusions: Our study shows that RBV has antiviral effect against SFTSV in a dose-dependent manner. Further studies are required to evaluate the effi cacy of RBV in SFTS.

        This paper is a method to maintain the right of possesion for color images. previous method used an binary data, image, or binary pattern etc. So watermarked image was declined in image quality. But the information for insertion was limited. This paper proposed the method which will change RGB mode of original image to YIQ, at first, we will insert the watermark in the Low frequency cofficient of wavelet transform domain. The watermark use the owner's photo of a digital contents. which is 256 gray-level watermark, and it's size can be changed by the size of original image. As the result of simulation, our method can provide the rightful1 ownership against Rotation, Cropping, JPEG, and Scaling attacks.

        위험평가(Risk Assessment)에 의한 업종별 위험(Risk)의 구분

        A total of 514 workplaces in 17 industries were inbestigated through walk-through survey. These industries were all small companies with less than five workers and didn't have work environmental measurement data. These industries were ranked by risk that was evaluated by combination of toxicity and possibility of exposure to chemical hazardous agents produced at operations of industry. Risk Index(RI) was qualitatively combined by the combination between hazard and potential of exposure to chemical hazardous agents. Industries that were regarded as having the highest risk were wood and products of wood, chemicals and chemical products, basic metals, other vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, and fumiture manufacturing. These industries were found to have operations with higher risk than other industries. This study found that more attentions should be paid to these industries with that more attentions should be paid to these industries with high risk.

        2.25Cr-1Mo 강 인공 열화재의 고주파수 초음파 감쇠특성에 관한 연구

        재료나 설비의 고온 장시간 사용으로 인하여 발생되는 재질열화 평가에는 파괴적인 방법이 널리 사용되고 있으며, 신뢰도가 높다. 그러나, 시험편의 채취가 어렵고 많은 경비와 시간이 소요된다. 전기저항법, 레프리카법, 바크하우젠 노이즈법, 전기화학적방법, 초음파법 등과 같은 비파괴적인 열화손상 평가 방법이 주목을 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2.25Cr-1Mo 강을 630℃에서 장시간 등온열처리로 모의 열화시험편을 제작하고, 고온설비부재에서 발생되는 미세조직의 변화와 고주파 초음파의 전파특성(감쇠계수)과의 일대일 상관관계를 규명하여 초음파 비파괴평가에 의한 열화도 평가의 유용성 유무를 실험적으로 검증하였다. 그 결과 2.25Cr-1Mo 인공열화재의 경우 열화가 진행됨에 따라 탄화물의 석출 및 조대화가 일어나며 초음파 감쇠계수는 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으며, 그 정도는 침상의 탄화물이 거의 소멸되는 1,000 시간 이후에 초음파 감쇠계수가 급격히 증가하는 매우 좋은 상관성을 나타내었다. The destructive method is reliable and widely used for the estimation of material degradation but, it have time-consuming and a great difficulty in preparing specimens from in-service industrial facilities. Therefore, the estimation of degraded structural materials used at high temperature by nondestructive evaluation such as electric resistance method, replica method, Barkhausen noise method, electro-chemical method and ultrasonic method are strongly desired. Ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation technique has been reported good to attain efficiency of measurement, high sensitivity of measurement, and rapidity and reliability of result interpretation. In this study, it was verified experimentally the feasibility of the evaluation of degraded 2.25Cr-1Mo steel specimens which were prepared by the isothermal aging heat treatment at 630℃ by high frequency longitudinal wave method investigating the change of attenuation coefficient by FFT analysis and wavelet transform. Because of carbide precipitation increase and spheroidization near grain boundary of microstructure to aging degradation, attenuation coefficient had a tendency to increase as degradation proceeded. It was identified possibly to evaluate degradation using the characteristics of high-frequency ultrasonics. Frequency dependence of ultrasonic attenuation coefficient to aging degradation appeared large, which made sure that attenuation coefficient is an important parameter for evaluation of aging degradation.

        In this paper, a Meridian balance measurement system is developed for Meridian characterization studies. The system utilized a method of Meridian electrical flow measurement. The system consists of 4-channel Meridian impedance measurement parts, filters, A/D converter, micro-controller, and personal computer. The system flows a low current between Meridian points and measures the energy amount by using the voltage drop on a standard register. The voltage drop is then A/D-converted and fed to personal computer for impedance calculation.

      • 농촌지역 오수처리시설의 성능평가 및 개선방안

        This study was carried out to evaluate performance of sewage treatment facility in rural area. Average effluent concentration was 7.6㎎/1 BOD. 10.3㎎/1 COD, 4.7㎎/1 SS, 19.140㎎/1 TN, and 1,631㎎/1 TP, within discharge quality standard. The removal efficiency rate of BOD, COD and SS was good as 89.8%. 78.5% and 90.1%, respectively. But that of TN, TP was very low as 25.0% and 31.4% respectvely. Average sewage flow rate was investigated by about 1.1㎥/d per household, 398ℓ pcd. In rainfall period, the removal efficiency rate of BOD. TN and TP was very low as 15%, 22% and 28%, respectively because of inflow and infiltration into sewer. In flowing concentration of sewage was diluted as rain is inserted into sewer and submerged facility was not operated at normal condition. Therefore it is required that the sewer will have to repair and hydraulic design for facility will have to be check. So it is necessary to support systematical, administrative measures for responsible management.

      • 원적외선 면상발열체를 이용한 하우스 난방 시스템의 경제성 분석

        The results obtained from this study can be summarized as follows. 1) The result comparing the economical efficiency of far infrared heating system and gasoline-burned warm air heating system shows that in case of growing a currant tomato and a green perilla on the 60 Pyeong-sized green house respectively, negative farm incomes are earned for all crops, Comparing the far infrared heating system with gasoline-burned warm air heating system, the far infrared heating system is relatively favored in terms of high gross revenue and low energy cost. 2) From the perspective of heating energy costs on an annual basis, the gasoline-burned warm air heating system is higher than far infrared heating system by 152 % and 150 % for a currant tomato and a green perilla respectively. 3) The result analysing the economical efficiency of far infrared heating' system depending on different scenarios indicates that if the rural electrical rates are lowered by more than 10 % and the market price is increased by more than 20 %, the far infrared heating system is economically efficient for growing a currant tomato. And if the market price is increased by 40 % and the tax-free oil price is decreased by 15 %, the gasoline-burned warm air heating system is economically efficient for growing a green perilla.
