        Colorimetric H2O2 Detection Using Ag-Nanoparticle-Decorated Silica Microspheres

        In view of the importance of convenient and rapid H2O2 detection for biological analysis, we herein propose Ag nanoparticle (NP)-decorated silica microspheres as a probe for instant and non-enzymatic on-site colorimetric detection of H2O2. The surface hydroxyl groups of silica microspheres were reacted with (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane to afford thiolated microspheres that subsequently bind Ag NPs. The oxidation of residual –SH groups on the silica surface to –S–S– moieties in the presence of H2O2 induces the aggregation of decorated microspheres and is accompanied by a color change. Sensor response is found to be proportional to H2O2 concentration in the range from 100 nM to 1 mM, with UV–Vis and colorimetric detection limits determined as 10 -8 M and 10 -5 M, respectively. The developed platform is successfully used to detect H2O2 in simulated human urine and is, therefore, concluded to be sufficiently stable and selective for practical applications.

        A Study on Advertising Image of Chinese and Foreign Fashion Brands According to Gestalt Theory

        광고 이미지는 오늘날 매우 중요한 역할을 하고 있으며, 패션 브랜드들은 그들의 제품을 광고하고 홍보하기 위해 광고 이미지 제작에 심혈을 기울인다. 최근 몇 년 동안 글로벌 패션 브랜드의 광고 이미지에 대해 많은 논란이 있었는데, 그 배경에는 주관적인 해석과 객관적인 디자인의 영향이 있다. 게슈탈트 이론은 전체는 부분의 합보다 더 중요하다고 강조한다. 중국과 해외에서 판매되는 6개의 패션 브랜드에서 각각 10개의 광고를 취합하여 유사성, 근접성, 연속성, 폐쇄성, 전경과 배경의 원리 등 게슈탈트의 5대 원칙을 적용하여 패션 광고의 특성을 분석하였다. 이러한 분석은 중국과 해외 패션 광고 이미지에 있어 완벽한 조직성의 원칙에서 전경과 배경 원칙과 근접성 원칙을 사용하는 경향이 있다는 결론이 나타났으며, 중국 광고는 유사성의 원칙을 선호하는 반면 해외 광고는 폐쇄성과 연속성의 원칙을 더 많이 사용하는 것으로 요약된다. 게슈탈트 이론에 기반한 사례연구 결과는 패션 광고 시장에 보다 효과적인 광고 이미지를 제작하고 소비자 선호도를 높이는 데 도움이 될 것이다. Advertising has a very important role to play in this day and age, and fashion brands use it to advertise and promote their products, hence the fashion brand advertisements. In recent years, there has been a lot of controversy over the advertisements shot by international brands, the reasons behind which are both subjective observations and objective design influences. This paper focuses on the analysis of objective design using the Gestalt theory. Gestalt theory emphasises that the whole is more significant than the sum of its parts. In this paper, the characteristics of fashion advertisements are analysed by taking ten advertisements each from six different fashion brands placed in China and overseas, and applying the five principles of Gestalt: similarity, proximity, continuity, closure and the relationship between subject and context. The analysis leads to the conclusion that both China and overseas tend to use the subject-background principle and the proximity principle in the principle of perfect organisation in the shooting of advertisements. In terms of points of difference, Chinese and overseas advertising can be summarised as a whole as Chinese advertising prefers to use the principle of similarity, while overseas advertising uses the principle of closure and continuity more often. The results of the case study based on the Gestalt perception principle will help future markets to place advertisements with a more effective effect and increase consumer preference.

        SOC and SOH Joint Estimation of Lithium-Ion Battery Based on Improved Particle Filter Algorithm

        In order to improve the estimation accuracy of the state of charge (SOC) of lithium ion batteries and accurately estimate the state of health (SOH), this paper proposes an improved fi refl y algorithm to optimize particle fi lter algorithm to estimate the SOC and SOH of lithium batteries. Aiming at the particle degradation problem of the traditional sequential importance sampling in the standard particle fi lter algorithm, the improved fi refl y algorithm is used to replace the re-sampling of the traditional particle fi lter to suppress the particle depletion during the execution of the standard particle fi lter algorithm; Establishing a second-order RC equivalent circuit model and use the recursive least square method with forgetting factor to identify relevant battery parameters. The ohmic resistance is regarded as a characteristic parameter of the battery state of health (SOH), and the battery SOH is estimated on this basis. IFA-PF algorithms are used for the joint estimation of SOC and SOH. Through simulation verifi cation under DST conditions, the accuracy of using the improved particle fi lter algorithm to estimate battery SOC is within 2%, with an average error of 0.81%, and its SOH estimation accuracy remains at about 2%, with an average error of 1.34%, which proves the superiority of the joint estimation algorithm

        Phenotypic and Molecular Characteristics of Children with Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis in South China

        Purpose: Progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC) is a rare genetic autosomal recessive disease caused by mutations in ATP8B1, ABCB11 or ABCB4. Mutational analysis of these genes is a reliable approach to identify the disorder. Methods: We collected and analyzed relevant data related to clinical diagnosis, biological investigation, and molecular determination in nine children carrying these gene mutations, who were from unrelated families in South China. Results: Of the nine patients (five males, four females) with PFIC, one case of PFIC1, four cases of PFIC2, and four cases of PFIC3 were diagnosed. Except in patient no. 8, jaundice and severe pruritus were the major clinical signs in all forms. γ-glutamyl transpeptidase was low in patients with PFIC1/PFIC2, and remained mildly elevated in patients with PFIC3. We identified 15 different mutations, including nine novel mutations (p.R470HfsX8, p.Q794X and p.I1170T of ABCB11 gene mutations, p.G319R, p.A1047P, p.G1074R, p.T830NfsX11, p.A1047PfsX8 and p.N1048TfsX of ABCB4 gene mutations) and six known mutations (p.G446R and p.F529del of ATP8B1 gene mutations, p.A588V, p.G1004D and p.R1057X of ABCB11 gene mutations, p.P479L of ABCB4 gene mutations). The results showed that compared with other regions, these three types of PFIC genes had different mutational spectrum in China. Conclusion: The study expands the genotypic spectrum of PFIC. We identified nine novel mutations of PFIC and our findings could help in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.

        Identification of the WRKY gene family in apricot and its response to drought stress

        The WRKY family has been found in 14 plant species, and its members are mostly involved in plant stress resistance. Apricot ( Prunus armeniaca L.) trees are extremely drought tolerant, but the molecular mechanisms have not yet been elucidated. Therefore, we investigated the WRKY gene family in apricot and analyzed the gene expression patterns in response to drought stress. A total of 56 candidate WRKY genes (PaWRKY1–56 ) were identifi ed in the apricot genome. The putative proteins contain 162–1055 amino acids, with an isoelectric point of 5.0–9.68 and molecular weight of 18.76– 114.2 Da. The PaWRKY family has a heptapeptide domain (WRKY) and zinc fi nger domain (CX 5-7 CX 22-23 HXH), which show diff erential variations among three groups. Group I has 12 members, with 2 WRKY and zinc fi nger domains located at the C and N terminus, respectively. Group II can be further divided into II-b, II-c, II-d, and II-e, with 10, 13, 6, and 7 members, respectively. Group III has eight members. Members of groups II and III have one WRKY and one zinc fi nger domain. Fifty-one PaWRKY genes are unevenly distributed across eight linkage groups. Only one tandem repeat event was detected, and gene duplication was identifi ed as the main factor driving gene evolution. A total of 28 PaWRKY genes responded to the drought–rehydration treatment. In particular, drought stress up-regulated PaWRKY11/14/48 expression and down-regulated PaWRKY23 expression. The genome-wide identifi cation, functional characterization, and evolution- ary analysis of the PaWRKY family yield new insights into the role of WRKY in the drought tolerance of apricot trees.

        Antioxidant activity and metabolic regulation of sodium salicylate on goat sperm at low temperature

        Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of sodium salicylate (SS) on semen preservation and metabolic regulation in goats. Methods: Under the condition of low temperature, SS was added to goat semen diluent to detect goat sperm motility, plasma membrane, acrosome, antioxidant capacity, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) and metabonomics. Results: The results show that at the 8th day of low-temperature storage, the sperm motility of the 20 μM SS group was 66.64%, and the integrity rates of the plasma membrane and acrosome were both above 60%, significantly higher than those of the other groups. The activities of catalase and superoxide dismutase in the sperm of the 20 μM SS group were significantly higher than those of the control group, the contents of reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde were significantly lower than those in the control group, the MMP was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the contents of Ca2+ and total cholesterol were significantly higher than those in the control group. Through metabonomics analysis, there were significant metabolic differences between the control group and the 20 μM SS group. Twenty of the most significant metabolic markers were screened, mainly involving five metabolic pathways, of which nicotinic acid and nicotinamide metabolic pathways were the most significant. Conclusion: The results indicate that SS can effectively improve the low-temperature preservation quality of goat sperm.
