      • Drosophila quinaria Species Group의 遺傳的 近緣關係

        The genetic relatedness among the Korean Drosophila quinaria species group, including D. nigromaculata, D. unispina, D. brachynephrose, and D. angularis, has been examined by using horizontal starch gel electrophoresis. The results showed that none of the ten isozyme patterns examined for these four species was identical. The average genetic similarity among the four species was found to be 0.440. The similarity among three species. D. unispina, D. brachynephrose, and D. angularis was 0.466. The relatedness was found to be closest between D. nigromaculata and D. unispina, showing 0.640. D. nigromaculata and D. angularis showed relatedness of 0.258. The results suggested that these four species appear to be genetically related at the level of sibling species. The percent polymorphism in D. brachynephrose was found to be 76.9%, showing significant genetic variations.

        Original Article : Geographic difference of epidemiological features of HCV infection in Korea

        Background/Aims: The prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in Korea exhibits significant geographic variation, with it being higher in Busan and Jeonam than in other areas. The reason for this intranational geographic difference was investigated in this study by conducting a comparative analysis of the risk factors related to HCV infection among three geographic areas: the capital (Seoul), Busan, and the province of Jeolla. Methods: In total, 990 patients with chronic HCV infection were prospectively enrolled at 5 university hospitals located in Seoul (n=374), Busan (n=264), and Jeolla (n=352). A standardized questionnaire survey on the risk factors for HCV infection was administered to these three groups of patients, and a comparative analysis of the findings was performed. Results: The analysis revealed significant regional differences in exposure to the risk factors of HCV infection. By comparison with patients in Seoul as a control group in the multivariate analysis, patients in Busan had significantly more experience of invasive medical procedures, acupuncture, cosmetic procedures, and multiple sex partners. In contrast, patients in Jeolla were significantly older, and they had a higher prevalence of hepatocellular carcinoma, a lower prevalence of multiple sex partners, and had experienced fewer invasive procedures. Conclusions: There was a significant geographic difference in the exposure to potential risk factors of HCV infection between patients from the three studied regions. This may explain the regional variation of the prevalence of HCV infection in Korea, and should be taken into account when planning strategies for the prevention and management of HCV infection.       • 가스交煥過程을 包含하는 4行程 CI 機關의 Cycle Simulation

        A comprehensive cycle simulation was developed to predict the performance of CI engine including intake and exhaust systems with variation of operating conditions and design factors. In this work, the gas-exchange model, compression and expansion model, single-zone combustion model and heat transfer model were used. In order to confirm the feasibility of the simulation program, the calculated results were compared with the experimental results. Pressure diagram, I.M.E.P. and S.F.C. by means of calculations showed acceptable quantitative agreement with the experimental data. A parametric study of the effect of variations in injection timing and inlet pressure was carried out. Therefore, the optimal design of CI engine will be possible by the cycle simulation using this program.

        Natural convection heat transfer in a two-dimensional, square enclosure fitted with a partial vertical partition was investigated numerically using ADI and SOR methods. The vertical walls of the enclosure were maintained isothermal at different temperatures, while the horizontal walls and the partition were insulated. The computation were carried out with air, Pr=0.733, in the Grashof numbers range 1.25×10³≤Gr≤2×10⁴, for seven cases as the lengths and positions of the partition were varied. The partition were found to significantly effect on the heat transfer and the flow pattern within an enclosure.

      • 새로운 전극 구조를 가진 AC PDP의 벽전압 전달 특성

        본 연구에서는 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널(Plasma Display Panels, PDP)의 특성을 결정하는 벽전하 양을 산정할 수 있는 벽전압 전달 곡선 특성에 대해 연구하였으며, 또한 방전 전하량이 셀 동작점의 응답을 나타내는 방전의 지표로 한 새로운 벽전압 전달곡선 해석기법을 제안하였으며, 그 특성곡선으로부터 구동 주파수, 가스 종류, 압력 및 유전체의 유효정전용량변화에 관한 상관 관계를 연구하였다. In this paper, they have been investigated that the effects of working gas species, working gas pressure and frequency of applied voltage on the modified voltage transfer cure based on the charge as a discharge indicator of ac PDP. In case of using the mixture gases(He+Xe, He+Ne+Xe) as working gas, the change in wall voltage(ΔVw) per gap voltage at the beginning of the discharge is 1∼2V larger than that of only He gas. Also, as Xe percentage in He or He+Ne mixture gas increases, the firing voltage and voltage margin increased. In addition, the effective wall capacitance is affected by the periling and priming effect.

      • 학동기 비만아동의 피부두께의 통계적 관찰

        The measurements of triceps skinfold thickness, body weight and height were done in children aged 7 to 12 years(3,142 boys and 2588 girls) in Kwangju in 1992. The author also observed degree of obesity, prevalence of obesity and average value of triceps skinfold thickness. The results were summarized as follows: 1) The mean value of triceps skinfold thickness acceding to age in male was 7 years 10.5mm, 8 years 10.5mm, 9 years 10.2mm, 10 years 12.3mm, 11 years 13.8mm, 12 years 12.3mm. In the female it was 7 years 11.9mm, 8 years 11.9mm, 9 years 11.6mm, 10 years 12.6mm, 11 years 14.1mm, 12 years 13.6mm. 2) The mean value of triceps skinfold thickness acceding to age in obese male was 7 years 16.3mm, 8 years 17.3mm, 9 years 16.0mm, 10 years 19.5mm, 11 years 23.7mm, 12 years 20.1mm. In the obese female it was 7 years 17.3mm, 8 years 17.9mm, 9 years 18.4mm, 10 years 19.5mm, 11 years 21.2mm, 12 years 20.3mm.

      • 이화여자대학교 교양체육 개선방안을 위한 기초조사 연구

        Students' opinion was surveyed with respect to the effectiveness of various aspects of general physical education program being implemented at Ewha Woman's University with a view to improving the quality of general physical education program for non-physical education majors. A 21-item questioneaire was administered to 1000 Ewha university students enrolling in general physical education courses, asking to evaluate on four main aspects of general physical education programs;i.e., 1) the contents of general physical education program, 2) instructor, 3) facilities, and 4) curricular policies. Students' perception as well as evaluation based on 812 collected data revealed strong disatisfactions on 1) limitedness of course contents and facilities, 2) incongruence of the number of credit hours with the number of class hour, and 3) overpopulated class size. These results suggested that new administrative policies should be enforced to rectify present deficiencies, ultimately improving the quality and effective ness of general physical education program for non-physical education majors.

      • 신체적 자기기술 질문지의 요인구조

        The objective of this study was to examine the validation of structure of physical self description questionnaire(PSDQ) based on the covariance structure analysis, conducting a wide survey on students involving physical activities as the subject of this study. The students were comprised of ordinary students and athletes of male and female in high schools and universities as well. To put it more specifically, this study was designed to find how the subject of the study react to the 11 multi-level structure of physical self description questionnaire created by Marsh and Redmayne. The result of this study was applied to verify the factor structure, utilizing a explomatory factor analysis program based on maximum likelihood estimation. The result of the study is shown as below. First, when the study was made to ordinary students and athletes of male and female in high schools and universities in Korea, the construct factor of physical self description questionnaire was proved to be composed of nine(9) factors which are confidence in sports, global physical, physical activity, body fat, flexibility, healthy, self-esteem, appearance, and endurance. Accordingly, the result of this study was proved to be different from eleven(11) multi-level of structure for physical self description questionnaire by Marsh and Redmayne. Second, while the validity of factor structure was verified in both eleven(11) construct factor model and nine(9) construct factor model when the study was made to all the students(in high schools and universities, male and female, and ordinary students and athletes), the nine(9) construct factor model was proved to be more adequate one than eleven(11) construct factor model.
