ORiginal Article : Tryptase and Protease-Activated Receptor 2 Expression Levels in Irritable Bowel Syndrome

( Wen Jing Liang ),( Guo Zhang ),( He Sheng Luo ),( Lie Xin Liang ),( Dan Huang ),( Fa Can Zhang ) 대한간학회 2016 Gut and Liver Vol.10 No.3

Background/Aims: Previous studies have revealed that mast cells (MCs) may activate the protease-activated receptors and release of neuropeptides involved in the pathogenesis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The levels of proteaseactivated receptor 2 (PAR-2) and tryptase can contribute to understanding the pathogenesis of IBS. Methods: Colonoscopic biopsies were performed of 38 subjects (20 with IBSdiarrhea [IBS-D], eight with IBS-constipation [IBS-C], and 10 healthy volunteers). The mRNA and protein levels of tryptase and PAR-2 were assessed by real-time PCR and Western blot. The levels of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), substance P (SP), and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) were measured by immunohistochemistry, and MCs were counted by toluidine blue staining. Results: Significant increases in the mRNA expression of tryptase (p<0.05, IBS-D, IBS-C vs control) and PAR-2 (p<0.05, IBS-D, IBS-C vs control) and in the tryptase protein level (p<0.05, IBS-D, IBS-C vs control) were detected in IBS. Elevations of MCs, CGRP, VIP and SP (p<0.05, IBS-D vs control) were observed for IBS-D only. Conclusions: Tryptase levels may upregulate the function of PAR- 2, resulting in the release of neuropeptide and they were correlated with clinical symptoms associated with IBS. Breviscapine Ameliorates Fear Extinction and Anxiety in BALB/cJ Mice

        Wei Liang(Wei Liang),Jing Huang(Jing Huang),Shuya Yang(Shuya Yang),Peng Huang(Peng Huang),Jun Chen(Jun Chen),Chen Chen(Chen Chen),Qun Yang(Qun Yang),Fengzhan Li(Fengzhan Li) 대한신경정신의학회 2023 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.20 No.3

Objective In this research, the influence of breviscapine on anxiety, fear elimination, and aggression and the potential mechanism was investigated. Methods Anxiety and locomotion were analyzed by elevated plus maze and open field test in mice. Bussey-Saksida Mouse Touch Screen Chambers were used to perform fear conditioning. Territorial aggression was assessed by resident intruder test. Protein levels were evaluated by Western blot. Breviscapine improved fear-extinction learning in BALB/cJ mice. Results Breviscapine at 20-100 mg/kg increased center cross number, total distance traveled, and velocity in a dose-dependent manner. On the other hand, breviscapine at 20-100 mg/kg decreased the immobility time in open field test. In addition, breviscapine at 20-100 mg/kg increased the ratio of time on the open arm, time on the distal parts of the open arm, and total distance traveled in elevated plus maze. Breviscapine at 100 mg/kg increased the average attack latency and decreased the number of attacks over the last 3 days of resident intruder test. In hippocampus, protein levels of postsynaptic density protein-95 and synaptophysin were elevated by breviscapine at these three doses. Conclusion The administration of breviscapine alleviates fear extinction, anxiety, and aggression, while increases locomotor in a dose-dependent manner, which might be associated with its influence on synaptic function.

Experimental investigation on the contribution of gas molecular diffusion to gas mass flux in micro-nano pores

        Jing Sun,Dehua Liu,Xiang Zhu,Wenjun Huang,Liang Cheng 한국자원공학회 2020 Geosystem engineering Vol.23 No.1

The mass transfer from the matrix to the fracture face is driven by both concentration and pressure differences. In this work, high-temperature high-pressure (HPHT) systems for diffusion experiments with only concentration differences were used to determine the diffusion coefficient, and flow experiments with only pressure differences were also conducted; and the magnitude of gas molecular diffusion and its contribution to production were analyzed in this study. The results show as follows: (1) Gas flow from the matrix to the fracture system is driven by the combined effect of gas molecular diffusion and seepage. The pore structure characteristics of the reservoir and the contribution of the diffusion to the yield can vary greatly. (2) In tight reservoirs with an average permeability of 0.3067 mD, the contribution of gas molecular diffusion to the total gas mass flux is only 0.08%, while in shale reservoirs, the average permeability is 0.0015 mD; the contribution of diffusion to the total gas mass flux could be as large as 1%. (3) The contribution of molecular diffusion to gas production is closely related to the pore sizes of the porous medium. The smaller the pore sizes are, the greater the contribution of molecular diffusion to gas production.

Experimental Studies of Low-Field Landau Quantization in Two-Dimensional Electron Systems in GaAs/AlGaAs Heterostructures

        Jing-Han Chen,Chi-Te Liang,Chun-Feng Huang,Da-Ren Hang,David A. Ritchie,J. C. Hsiao,Jyun-Ying Lin,Michelle Y. Simmons,Ming-Gu Lin,S. H. Lo,Tsai-Yu Huang 한국물리학회 2007 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.50 No.3

By applying a magnetic field perpendicular to GaAs/AlGaAs two-dimensional electron systems (2DESs), we study the low-field Landau quantization when the thermal damping is reduced with decreasing temperature. Magneto-oscillations following the Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) formula are observed even when their amplitudes are so large that the deviation to such a formula is expected. Our experimental results show the importance of the positive magneto-resistance to the extension of the SdH formula under the damping induced by the disorder.

Sparse probabilistic principal component analysis model for plant-wide process monitoring

        Jing Zeng,Kangling Liu,Weiping Huang,Jun Liang 한국화학공학회 2017 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.34 No.8

In the industrial monitoring process, probabilistic principal component analysis (PPCA) is a popular algorithm for reducing the dimension. However, the principal components (PCs) are not easy to interpret and its preserved number cannot be determined automatically. In this paper, we propose a sparse PPCA (SPPCA) to improve the interpretability by adding a prior and introducing sparsification to the loading matrix of PPCA. An expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm is used to obtain the parameters of the probabilistic formulation, and the dimensionality of the latent variable space can be automatically determined during the iterative process. With the sparse representation, a process monitoring strategy is then developed with the construction of several partial PPCA models. Case studies of SPPCA to a numerical case and Tennessee Eastman (TE) benchmark process demonstrate its feasibility and efficiency.

Introducer Curving Technique for the Prevention of Tilting of Transfemoral Günther Tulip Inferior Vena Cava Filter

        Liang Xiao,De-sheng Huang,Jing Shen,Jia-jie Tong 대한영상의학회 2012 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.13 No.4

Objective: To determine whether the introducer curving technique is useful in decreasing the degree of tilting of transfemoral Tulip filters. Materials and Methods: The study sample group consisted of 108 patients with deep vein thrombosis who were enrolled and planned to undergo thrombolysis, and who accepted transfemoral Tulip filter insertion procedure. The patients were randomly divided into Group C and Group T. The introducer curving technique was Adopted in Group T. The post-implantation filter tilting angle (ACF) was measured in an anteroposterior projection. The retrieval hook adhering to the vascular wall was measured via tangential cavogram during retrieval. Results: The overall average ACF was 5.8 ± 4.14 degrees. In Group C, the average ACF was 7.1 ± 4.52 degrees. In Group T, the average ACF was 4.4 ± 3.20 degrees. The groups displayed a statistically significant difference (t = 3.573, p = 0.001) in ACF. Additionally, the difference of ACF between the left and right approaches turned out to be statistically significant (7.1 ± 4.59 vs. 5.1 ± 3.82, t = 2.301, p = 0.023). The proportion of severe tilt (ACF ≥ 10º) in Group T was significantly lower than that in Group C (9.3% vs. 24.1%, χ2 = 4.267, p = 0.039). Between the groups, the difference in the rate of the retrieval hook adhering to the vascular wall was also statistically significant (2.9% vs. 24.2%, χ2 = 5.030, p = 0.025). Conclusion: The introducer curving technique appears to minimize the incidence and extent of transfemoral Tulip filter tilting. Cheng-Liang Huang,Jhih-Yong Chen,Yen-Hsing Wang,Bing-Jing Li 한국물리학회 2009 Current Applied Physics Vol.9 No.6

The microstructures and the microwave dielectric properties of the (1 - x)(Mg0.95Co0.05)TiO3– x(Na0.5La0.5)TiO3 ceramic system were investigated. Two-phase system was confirmed by the XRD patterns and the EDX analysis. A co-existed second phase (Mg0.95Co0.05)Ti2O5 was also detected. The microwave dielectric properties are strongly related to the density and the matrix of the specimen. A new microwave dielectric material 0.88(Mg0.95Co0.05)TiO3–0.12(Na0.5La0.5)TiO3, possessing an excellent combination of dielectric properties: εr ~22.36, Q × f ~ 110,000 GHz (at 9 GHz), τf ~ 2.9 ppm/℃), is proposed as a candidate dielectric for GPS patch antennas. Investigation of the electrical properties of metal–oxide–metal structures formed from RF magnetron sputtering deposited MgTiO3 films

        Cheng-Liang Huang,Sih-Yin Wang,Yuan-Bin Chen,Bing-Jing Li,Ying-Hong Lin 한국물리학회 2012 Current Applied Physics Vol.12 No.3

Thin films of MgTiO3 high-k dielectric have been prepared by RF magnetron sputtering deposition at various substrate temperatures. X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy were used to characterize the deposited films. Experimental results show that substrate temperature has little effect on the stoichinometry. The electrical properties of MgTiO3 metaleinsulatoremetal (MIM) capacitors were investigated at various deposition temperatures, Pt/MgTiO3/Pt/SiO2/n-Si, were studied. It is shown that the MgTiO3 (210 nm) MIM capacitor fabricated at 200 ℃ shows an overall high performance, such as a high capacitance density of w1.2 nF/um2, a low leakage current of 1.51 × 10-9 A/cm2 at 5 V, low-voltage coefficients of capacitance, and good frequency dispersion properties. All of these indicate that the MgTiO3 MIM capacitors are very suitable for use in Si analog circuit application or dynamic random access memory (DRAM) cell.
