      • Highly Oriented Monolayer Graphene Grown on a Cu/Ni(111) Alloy Foil

        <P>Fast-growth of single crystal monolayer graphene by CVD using methane and hydrogen has been achieved on “homemade” single crystal Cu/Ni(111) alloy foils over large area. Full coverage was achieved in 5 min or less for a particular range of composition (1.3 at.% to 8.6 at.% Ni), as compared to 60 min for a pure Cu(111) foil under identical growth conditions. These are the bulk atomic percentages of Ni, as a superstructure at the surface of these foils with stoichiometry Cu<SUB>6</SUB>Ni<SUB>1</SUB> (for 1.3 to 7.8 bulk at.% Ni in the Cu/Ni(111) foil) was discovered by low energy electron diffraction (LEED). Complete large area monolayer graphene films are either single crystal or close to single crystal, and include folded regions that are essentially parallel and that were likely wrinkles that “fell over” to bind to the surface; these folds are separated by large, wrinkle-free regions. The folds occur due to the buildup of interfacial compressive stress (and its release) during cooling of the foils from 1075 °C to room temperature. The fold heights measured by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) prove them to all be 3 layers thick, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging shows them to be around 10 to 300 nm wide and separated by roughly 20 μm. These folds are always essentially perpendicular to the steps in this Cu/Ni(111) substrate. Joining of well-aligned graphene islands (in growths that were terminated prior to full film coverage) was investigated with high magnification SEM and aberration-corrected high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM) as well as AFM, STM, and optical microscopy. These methods show that many of the “join regions” have folds, and these arise from interfacial adhesion mechanics (they are due to the buildup of compressive stress during cool-down, but these folds are different than for the continuous graphene films-they occur due to “weak links” in terms of the interface mechanics). Such Cu/Ni(111) alloy foils are promising substrates for the large-scale synthesis of single-crystal graphene film.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

        Analysis of Altered Baseline Brain Activity in Drug-Naive Adult Patients with Social Anxiety Disorder Using Resting-State Functional MRI

        ObjectiveaaWe hypothesize that the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF) is involved in the altered regional baseline brain function in social anxiety disorder (SAD). The aim of the study was to analyze the altered baseline brain activity in drug-naive adult patients with SAD. MethodsaaWe investigated spontaneous and baseline brain activities by obtaining the resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data of 20 drug-naïve adult SAD patients and 19 healthy controls. Voxels were used to analyze the ALFF values using one- and two-sample t-tests. A post-hoc correlation of clinical symptoms was also performed. ResultsaaOur findings show decreased ALFF in the bilateral insula, left medial superior frontal gyrus, left precuneus, left middle temporal gyrus, right middle temporal pole, and left fusiform gyrus of the SAD group. The SAD patients exhibited significantly increased ALFF in the right inferior temporal gyrus, right middle temporal gyrus, bilateral middle occipital gyrus, orbital superior frontal gyrus, right fusiform gyrus, right medial superior frontal gyrus, and left parahippocampal gyrus. Moreover, the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale results for the SAD patients were positively correlated with the mean Z values of the right middle occipital and right inferior occipital but showed a negative correlation with the mean Z values of the right superior temporal gyrus and right medial superior frontal gyrus. ConclusionaaThese results of the altered regional baseline brain function in SAD suggest that the regions with abnormal spontaneous activities are involved in the underlying pathophysiology of SAD patients.

        Study of Fire Resistance Performance of Stiffened Welded Hollow Spherical Joint Under Axial Tension

        To study the fire resistance performance of stiffened welded hollow spherical joints under axial tension, two specimens with load ratios of 0.4 and 0.6 were subjected. The temperature distribution, failure mode, and fire resistance performance of stiffened welded hollow spherical joints under axial tension were obtained. The test results show that the failure mode of the joint was a pull-out failure. During the heating process, the closer to the spherical equator, the higher the spherical temperature, and the temperature of the sphere at the stiffener is lower than that of the sphere at the non-stiffener. The load ratio has a great influence on the refractory performance of the stiffened welded hollow sphere joint. When the load ratio of the specimen is reduced from 0.60 to 0.40, the fire resistance time of the specimen increases by 4.47 min, and the critical temperature increases by 21.3 °C. According to the European Code, the finite element model for the stiffened welded hollow spherical joints is established. The effect law of various influencing factors on the fire resistance performance of stiffened welded hollow spherical joints is studied. The research results show that reducing the load ratio and increasing the thickness of the sphere can significantly improve the fire resistance performance of the joint. The calculation formula of the critical temperature of steel members in the current standard not suitable for the calculation of the critical temperature of the welded hollow spherical joint. The critical temperature values with different load ratios recommended by the current standard were relatively more conservative. Taking the ambient temperature as the fire resistance temperature, the finite element analysis results were fitted, and the formula for calculating the fire resistance temperature of the stiffened welded hollow spherical joint was proposed.

        Temperature-Dependent Photoluminescence from ZnO/Zn0.85Mg0.15O Heterostructure Grown on Si(111) Substrates

        A ZnO/Zn0.85Mg0.15O single quantum well (SQW) was fabricated on a Si(111) substrate by using a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. Photoluminescence (PL) measurements were carried out in the range of 10 − 290 K in order to investigate the mechanism of carrier dynamics. At 10 K, the sample exhibited two predominant ultraviolet emissions, one at 3.57 eV and the other at 3.38 eV, which were attributed to recombinations of localized excitons (LE band) in the barrier and the well layers, respectively. The quantum well emission showed a blue shift of nearly 20 meV with respect to the epitaxial ZnO films. We also observed that the carrier localization resulted in an “S-shaped” red-blue-red shift of the ∽3.38 eV emission with increasing temperature.         Microstructure evolution and effect on deuterium retention in oxide dispersion strengthened tungsten during He<sup>+</sup> irradiation

        Oxide dispersion-strengthened materials W-1wt%Pr<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> and W-1wt%La<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> were synthesized by wet chemical method and spark plasma sintering. The field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analysis, XRD and Vickers microhardness measurements were conducted to characterize the samples. The irradiations were carried out with a 5 keV helium ion beam to fluences up to 5.0 × 10<sup>21</sup> ions/m<sup>2</sup> under 600 ℃ using the low-energy ion irradiation system. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study was performed to investigate the microstructural evolution in W-1wt%Pr<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> and W-1wt%La<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>. At 1.0 × 10<sup>20</sup> He<sup>+</sup>/m<sup>2</sup>, the average loops size of the W-1wt%Pr<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> was 4.3 nm, much lower than W-1wt% La<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> of 8.5 nm. However, helium bubbles were not observed throughout in both doped W materials. The effects of pre-irradiation with 1.0 × 10<sup>21</sup> He<sup>+</sup>/m<sup>2</sup> on trapping of injected deuterium in doped W was studied by thermal desorption spectrometry (TDS) technique using quadrupole mass spectrometer. Compared with the samples without He<sup>+</sup> pre-irradiation, deuterium (D) retention of doped W materials increased after He<sup>+</sup> irradiation, whose retention was unsaturated at the damage level of 1.0 × 10<sup>22</sup>D<sub>2</sub><sup>+</sup>/m<sup>2</sup>. The present results implied that irradiation effect of He<sup>+</sup> ions must be taken into account to evaluate the deuterium retention in fusion material applications.

      • Efficacy and Safety of Laser Surgery and Transurethral Resection of the Prostate for Treating Benign Prostate Hyperplasia: a Network Meta-analysis

        Background: Traditional meta-analyses or systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have been used to compare laser surgeries and transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) for benign prostate hyperplasia (BHP), but they cannot provide a hierarchy regarding efficacy and safety of treatment. Objective: We therefore performed a network meta-analysis (NMA) to compare and create hierarchies for efficacy and safety of TUPR and laser surgeries for BPH. Materials and Methods: We searched for reports of RCTs published up to April 25, 2015. After methodological quality assessment and data extraction, we performed an NMA to compare TURP and laser surgeries for BPH. Results: We ranked the treatments of TURP and laser surgeries for BPH. For IPSS at 6 months, holmium laser resection of the prostate (HoLRP) ranked the first-best and at 12 months, holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP). For Qmax at 6 and 12 months, HoLEP ranked the first-best; for operative time it was TURP; for cathedral removal time, diode laser enucleation of the prostate (DiLEP) ranked the first-best. Conclusions: Although TURP is considered the gold standard for treating BPH, it is not better in terms of efficacy and safety compared with the laser surgery. Our NMA created hierarchies for the 9 types of surgery in terms of efficacy and safety, which should help clinicians choose the best approach for the individual patient.

        Low-temperature catalytic combustion of benzene over Ni–Mn/CeO2/cordierite catalysts

        The catalytic combustion of benzene over a Ni–Mn mixed oxide supported on cordierite coated with CeO2 was investigated. The catalysts were prepared using a sol–gel method and characterized using BET, H2-TPR, XRD, SEM and TEM. The catalysts calcined at 500 ℃ for 7 h with a Ni/Mn molar ratio of 1 exhibited the highest catalytic activity. When the concentration of benzene was 4.8 g/m3 and the GHSV was 15,000 h-1, the conversion was 94.3% at 300 ℃. These results were primarily attributed to the catalyst structure and the synergistic activity of the NiMnO3 perovskite and crystalline CeO2.

        Abietane Diterpenoids from Perovskia atriplicifolia and Their Anti-HBV Activities

        Bioassay-guided phytochemical investigation on the 90% EtOH extract of Perovskia atriplicifolia resulted in the isolation of eight abietane diterpenoids, including three new ones (1–3). Based on spectroscopic methods involving 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy techniques, mass spectrometry, and optical rotation, the structures of the new compounds (1–3) were unambiguously characterized. Compounds 1–2 and 4–8 were evaluated for their anti-HBV (hepatitis B virus) activity in HepG 2.2.15 cell line. Results suggested rosmadial (8) had the most anti-HBV potency, suppressing the secretion of HBsAg and HBeAg, with IC50 values of 0.09 and 0.34 mM, respectively.

        Accurate Parameter Design for Radial AC Hybrid Magnetic Bearing

        For more stable operation of radial AC hybrid magnetic bearing (radial AC HMB), it is particularly important to realize optimizationdesign of parameters for its prototype. The paper focuses on solving the several typical defects of traditional methods and puts forwardspecific countermeasures on improving its disadvantages. Thus, a new parameter design method based on two sets of magnetic fieldsystem (the stator core magnetic field system and the air gap field system) is proposed to calculate the structure and electromagnetismparameters of the radial AC HMB. Using the proposed parameter design method, a finite element model of radial AC HMB basedon the design results are simulated in finite element analysis software. The simulation results are consistent with the expectedparameters calculation results very well, which show accuracy of the parameters and the proposed method. To illustrate the validityof the parameter design approaches further, the verification experiment is conducted. The operating experimental results show thatthe radial AC HMB has high stability, fast start of suspension and fine anti-disturbance. Moreover, system performance comparisonresults show the control system based on the new parameter design method has stronger anti-disturbance characteristics than thatbased on the traditional parameter design method.

        Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy versus Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy in Definitive Chemoradiotherapy for Cervical Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Comparison of Survival Outcomes and Toxicities

        Purpose The purpose of this study was to compare the survival and toxicities in cervical esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (CESCC) treated by concurrent chemoradiothrapy with either three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) or intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) techniques. Materials and Methods A total of 112 consecutive CESCC patients were retrospectively reviewed. 3D-CRT and IMRT groups had been analyzed by propensity score matching method, with sex, age, Karnofsky performance status, induction chemotherapy, and tumor stage well matched. The Kaplan- Meier method and Cox proportional hazards model were used for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Toxicities were compared between two groups by Fisher exact test. Results With a median follow-up time of 34.9 months, the 3-year OS (p=0.927) and PFS (p=0.859) rate was 49.6% and 45.8% in 3D-CRT group, compared with 54.4% and 42.8% in IMRT group. The rates of grade ! 3 esophagitis, grade ! 2 pneumonitis, esophageal stricture, and hemorrhage were comparable between two groups, while the rate of tracheostomy dependence was much higher in IMRT group than 3D-CRT group (14.3% vs.1.8%, p=0.032). Radiotherapy technique (hazard ratio [HR], 0.09; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.01 to 0.79) and pretreatment hoarseness (HR, 0.12; 95% CI 0.02 to 0.70) were independently prognostic of tracheostomy dependence. Conclusion No survival benefits had been observed while comparing IMRT versus 3D-CRT in CESCC patients. IMRT with fraction dose escalation and pretreatment hoarseness were considered to be associated with a higher risk for tracheostomy dependence. Radiation dose escalation beyond 60 Gy should be taken into account carefully when using IMRT with hypofractionated regimen.
