<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We investigated the ferroelectricity in proton-irradiated flexible Pb(Zr<SUB>0.52</SUB>Ti<SUB>0.48</SUB>)O<SUB>3</SUB> (PZT) thick films and their non-volatile memory characteristics. The Ni-Cr metal foil substrate allowed high-quality polycrystalline PZT films with flexible functionality to be fabricated using conventional sol-gel and high-temperature annealing methods. The 10-MeV proton-irradiated PZT film exhibited an almost square polarization−electric field hysteresis curve with saturated (<I>P</I> <SUB>s</SUB>) and remnant (<I>P</I> <SUB> <I>r</I> </SUB>) polarizations of 18.9 and 17.0 μC/cm<SUP>2</SUP>, respectively; which are slightly lower than as-grown PZT with <I>P</I> <SUB>s</SUB> = 28.7 μC/cm<SUP>2</SUP> and <I>P</I> <SUB> <I>r</I> </SUB> = 24.3 μC/cm<SUP>2</SUP>. The <I>P</I> <SUB> <I>r</I> </SUB> did not decrease even after 1000 cycles of continuous bending and unbending at a bending radius of 2.14 mm and decreased slightly to ∼80% of its initial value after 10<SUP>5</SUP> s. Although the <I>P</I> <SUB> <I>r</I> </SUB> decreased to ∼55% after 10<SUP>10</SUP> cycles, the electric polarization remained switchable under positive and negative electric fields. These characteristics suggest that the flexible PZT films could be utilized in non-volatile memory device applications in environments with high doses of proton irradiation, such as those in aeronautics and nuclear power plants.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Sol-gel growth of flexible PZT thick films on a Ni-Cr metal foil substrate. </LI> <LI> Large saturated and remnant electric polarization in proton-irradiated films. </LI> <LI> Mechanical stability, long retention time, and high fatigue resistance even after the high energy proton-irradiation. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the degree of depression, sleep quality, job stress and their association among office workers. Method: A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 147 workers employed in 5 big enterprises, and 5 small and medium enterprises from October 21 to November 21, 2012. The questionnaires included socio-demographic and health-related characteristics, job-related characteristics, sleep quality, job stress (KOSS) and depression (CES-D). Result: Among all subjects, 23.1% was in the depression group (21 points and over in the CES-D score). Depressive level was positively correlated with job stress and quality of sleep. The adjusted odd ratio for the effects of sleep quality and job stress on depression significantly increased in the depression group compared to that of the normal group. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the following factors of influence had combined explanatory powers on depression: BMI, life satisfaction, quality of sleep, and job stress. Conclusion: The study revealed that complicated influences were exerted on the level of depression by variable factors, as well as socio-demographic characteristics, health-related characteristics, quality of sleep, and job stress. Specifically, the level of depression was influenced by the quality of sleep and job stress.

Background: Information on the effectiveness of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir against the omicron is limited. The clinical response and viral kinetics to therapy in the real world need to be evaluated. Methods: Mild to moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with risk factors for severe illness were prospectively enrolled as a treatment group with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir therapy versus a control group with supportive care. Serial viral load and culture from the upper respiratory tract were evaluated for seven days, and clinical responses and adverse reactions were evaluated for 28 days. Results: A total of 51 patients were analyzed including 40 in the treatment group and 11 in the control group. Faster symptom resolution during hospitalization (P = 0.048) was observed in the treatment group. Only minor adverse reactions were reported in 27.5% of patients. The viral load on Day 7 was lower in the treatment group (P = 0.002). The viral culture showed a positivity of 67.6% (25/37) vs. 100% (6/6) on Day 1, 0% (0/37) vs. 16.7 (1/6) on Day 5, and 0% (0/16) vs. 50.0% (2/4) on Day 7 in the treatment and control groups, respectively. Conclusions: Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir against the omicron was safe and resulted in negative viral culture conversion after Day 5 of treatment with better symptomatic resolution.
Novel quinolone-based fluorescent bioimaging probe, KSNP117, for sentinel lymph node mapping

Fluorescent imaging agents with biocompatibility and high sensitivity are urgently required for the accurate detection of sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs). Herein, we report the design of a novel quinoline-based fluorescent probe, designated KSNP117, which can be applied as a biomedical imaging agent in the sensitive and quantitative detection of SLNs. KSNP117 exerted no adverse effects on the proliferation of ovary and immune cells and also showed excellent serum stability with photo-brightening effects. In vivo fluorescent imaging revealed the accumulation of KSNP117 in the SLNs of nude mice within 10 min post injection, without in vivo toxicity, which was consistent with the findings of ex vivo imaging. These results support the potential of KSNP117 as a promising lymphatic tracer for biomedical imaging application.
치매환자의 공격적 행동과 치료사의 심리적 소진의 관계 및 대처방법 분석연구

목적: 본 연구는 치매환자를 일대일로 응대하는 치료사들이 어떠한 공격적 행동 양상을 경험하고 대처하는지 알아보고 공격적 행동에 따른 심리적 소진과의 관계를 비교하고자 한다. 연구방법: 2020년 10월 15일부터 11월 2일까지 작업치료사, 물리치료사 면허증을 소지하고 의료재활기관과 사회복지기관에서 치매환자를 대상으로 작업치료 및 물리치료 업무를 수행하고 있는 치료사 62명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과: 치매환자의 공격적 행동 빈도수가 높을수록 작업치료사와 물리치료사의 심리적소진의 점수도 높았으며 통계적으로 유의한 결과가 나타났다. 치매환자의 공격적 행동에 따른 대처행동은 언어적 토론, 신체적 억제, 행동제한, 발생요인제거, 무반응, 휴식, 화학적 억제, 기분전환, 회피, 신체적 공격 순으로 나타났으며 구체적으로는 공격적 행동에서 모두 언어적 토론이 가장 높은 빈도수를 보였다. 결론: 본 연구에서는 각 기관에서는 치매환자의 공격적 행동에 대한 대처행동에 관한 교육 및 프로그램과 재활적 치료 접근법의 기초자료를 제공하고 작업치료사와 물리치료사는 심리적 소진에 대한 적절한 관리가 필요할 것이다. Objective : This study aims to investigate the aspects of aggressive behaviors the therapists who were coping with dementia patients one on one experience and cope with and to compare the relationship with psychological burn-out according to the aggressive behaviors. Methods : This study conducted a survey with 65 therapists who were performing the tasks of occupational therapy and physical therapy for dementia patients at medical rehabilitation institutions and social welfare institutions, holding the licenses of an occupational therapist and a physical therapist from October 15 through November 2, 2020. Results : The higher the frequency of the dementia patient’s aggressive behavior, the higher the score of the psychological burn-out of the occupational therapists and physical therapists became, and the result was statistically significant. The behaviors for coping with the dementia patients’ aggressive behaviors appeared in the following order: Linguistic discussion, physical suppression, behavior restriction, the removal of the cause of occurrence, unresponsiveness, rest, chemical suppression, diversion, evasion, and physical aggression, and concretely, the linguistic discussion showed the highest frequency in all the aggressive behaviors. Conclusion : Through this study, it is found that each institution should provide education and program on the behavior for coping with dementia patients’ aggressive behaviors and the baseline data on the rehabilitative therapeutic approach and that occupational therapists and physical therapists should appropriately manage their psychological burn-out.
단핵구세포주 THP-1의 대식세포로의 분화 및 활성화에서 CO의 억제 효과

Carbon monoxide (CO)는 세포 보호의 기능을 가지는 항산화 효소인 heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1)의 대사산물로 세포성장, 아폽토시스, 염증에 대한 억제 효과를 보이는 것으로 보고가 이어지고 있고, 이에 관련된 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 CO가 단핵구의 대식세포로의 분화 및 그 활성화 과정에 미치는 영향을 인간 단핵구세포주 THP-1을 이용하여 조사하였다. CO-releasing compound인 CORM-2는 phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA)로 자극한 THP-1 세포에서 viability와 증식에는 큰 영향을 주지 않았으나 부착능의 뚜렷한 감소를 보였다. 그리고, CORM-2는 대식세포의 막표면 분화 인자인 CD14, CD11b 및 CD18의 발현과 latex beads를 이용한 포식 기능을 현저히 억제하였다. 다음으로, 배양중인 THP-1 세포를 PMA로 6일 동안 대식세포로 분화시킨 후 inflammatory cytokines의 분비와 포식 기능을 조사하였다. CORM-2의 처리는 lipopolysaccaride (LPS)로 자극한 대식세포로부터 분비되는 IL-6와 TNF-α의 분비를 감소시켰다. 또한, 분화된 대식세포에 E. coli (K-12 strain) bioparticles를 이용하여 포식 기능을 측정한 결과 CORM-2를 처리한 세포에서는 현저히 감소되는 경향을 보였다. 이를 종합해 볼 때, CO는 항원 인식과 포식 기능에 관여하는 막단백질의 발현을 저해함으로써 단핵구의 분화과정을 억제하였고, 분화된 대식세포의 inflammatory cytokines의 분비 및 포식 기능을 저해함으로써 활성화 과정도 억제하는 것으로 보인다. Carbon monoxide (CO), a reaction product of cytoprotective enzyme heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), is a gaseous messenger with anti-proliferative, anti-apoptotic, and anti-inflammatory actions in many cell types. Here, we investigated the role of CO on the process of monocyte differentiation induced by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) in human monocytic THP-1 cells. CORM-2 (tricarbonyldichlororuthenium (II) dimer, Ru₂Cl₄ (CO)6), a CO-releasing compound, decreased a marked cell adherence with a slight reduction of proliferation in monocytic THP-1 cells treated with PMA. And, CORM-2 significantly inhibited expression of differentiation markers such as CD14, CD11b plus CD18 (macrophage-1 antigen, Mac-1 or complement receptor 3, CR3) and phagocytosis of carboxylate-modified red fluorescent latex beads, in PMA-stimulated THP-1 cells. For the further experiments, differentiation of PMA-treated cells was enhanced after the initial 2 days stimulus by removing the PMA-containing media then incubating the cells in fresh media for a another 4 days. And, we observed the secretion of inflammatory cytokines and phagocytosis in differentiated macrophages. Treatment with CORM-2 significantly abolished the secretion of IL-6, TNF-α and phagocytosis using fluorescence-conjugated E. coli (K-12 strain) bioparticles in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated differentiated macrophages. In conclusion, these results suggest that CO inhibits the differentiation of monocytic THP-1 cells as well as the activation of differentiated macrophages.
