Purpose: This study investigated the difference of menopausal knowledge, attitude between nursing students and non-nursing students. The relationships of the level of menopausal knowledge and attitude and the level of closeness to mother were investigated. Methods: A correlational descriptive design was used with a convenience sample. The survey was conducted with 206 female college students, 106 nursing and 100 non-nursing students, between September 1 and September 14, 2014. The instruments were the Knowledge of Menopause scale, the Menopausal Attitude Measurement scale, and the Level of Closeness to Mother scale. SPSS v22.0 is used to statistical analysis of descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, correlation and χ2-tests. Results: The difference in menopause knowledge between nursing students and non-nursing students is statistically significant (t=6.085, p<001). Nursing and non-nursing college students’ menopause knowledge had a positive relationship with attitude (r = 0.241, p<001). In closeness to mother, there is no significant difference was shown between nursing and non-nursing college students, even though the levels of menopause knowledge are different (t=1.336, p=.183). Conclusion: Results showed having menopausal knowledge positively influences students’ attitudes about menopause. Educators should develop programs imparting menopausal knowledge for non-nursing college students to increase positive menopausal attitude.
멀티미디어 콘텐츠 저작 시스템에서의 화면 밝기 조절을 통한 에너지 관리 기법

본 논문에서는 앱 기반의 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 저작 시스템에서 화면 밝기 조절을 통한 에너지 관리 기법을 제안한다. 본 연구진은 멀티미디어 서비스 제공 시 사용자 만족도를 나타내는 유틸리티를 모델링하고, 이를 활용하여, 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 제작자가 콘텐츠 저작 도구에서 전력 관리 모드를 구성할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 수동 전력 설정 모드에서는 콘텐츠 제작자가 유틸리티에 따라 직접 밝기를 조절할 수 있도록 하며, 자동 설정 모드에서는 시스템에서 배터리 잔량에 맞춰 에너지의 사용량을 결정 한 후 유틸리티를 최대화할 수 있게끔 실행되는 앱의 밝기를 자동적으로 조절한다. 이를 위해, 에너지의 잔량에 따라서, 유틸리티 최대화하는 밝기 설정 알고리즘을 동적 프로그래밍을 통해서제안한다. 실험 결과, 멀티미디어 앱들이 에너지 한도에 맞추어서 실행되고, 유틸리티를 최대화함을 확인하였다. In this paper, we propose an energy management method called a brightness control scheme in an app-based multimedia content authoring system. We first define the concept of utility that means user satisfaction when providing a specific multimedia service and propose a method that enables multimedia content creators to configure energy management mode in their content authoring tool. We then propose a new brightness setting algorithm that maximizes overall utility according to the remaining energy budget by using a dynamic programming technique. Experimental results show that multimedia apps can run by satisfying the specified energy limit while maximizing the utility.
Attention to Innate Circadian Rhythm and the Impact of Its Disruption on Diabetes

Novel strategies are required to reduce the risk of developing diabetes and/or clinical outcomes and complications of diabetes. In this regard, the role of the circadian system may be a potential candidate for the prevention of diabetes. We reviewed evidence from animal, clinical, and epidemiological studies linking the circadian system to various aspects of the pathophysiology and clinical outcomes of diabetes. The circadian clock governs genetic, metabolic, hormonal, and behavioral signals in anticipation of cyclic 24-hour events through interactions between a “central clock” in the suprachiasmatic nucleus and “peripheral clocks” in the whole body. Currently, circadian rhythmicity in humans can be subjectively or objectively assessed by measuring melatonin and glucocorticoid levels, core body temperature, peripheral blood, oral mucosa, hair follicles, rest-activity cycles, sleep diaries, and circadian chronotypes. In this review, we summarized various circadian misalignments, such as altered light-dark, sleep-wake, rest-activity, fasting-feeding, shift work, evening chronotype, and social jetlag, as well as mutations in clock genes that could contribute to the development of diabetes and poor glycemic status in patients with diabetes. Targeting critical components of the circadian system could deliver potential candidates for the treatment and prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the future.
ITO-free polymer solar cells with vanadium oxide hole transport layer

Although highly conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) has emerged as alternative transparent electrodes to indium thin oxide (ITO), cell-performance is inferior to ITO based polymer solar cells (PSCs). To improve PEDOT:PSS based PSCs, we inserts metal-oxide hole transport layer (HTL) between PEDOT:PSS electrodes and photoactive layers for the first time. Device with optimized vanadium oxide HTL exhibits enhanced power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 3.33% (3.03% for conventional ITO-free PSCs). Improved performance is attributed to the increased shunt resistance and reduced surface roughness of PEDOT:PSS electrodes. Furthermore, improvement in device-stability under the atmospheric condition is observed.
