        Low Intensity Resistance Exercise Training with Blood Flow Restriction: Insight into Cardiovascular Function, and Skeletal Muscle Hypertrophy in Humans

        Attenuated functional exercise capacity in elderly and diseased populations is a common problem, and stems primarily from physical inactivity. Decreased function and exercise capacity can be restored by maintaining muscular strength and mass, which are key factors in an independent and healthy life. Resistance exercise has been used to prevent muscle loss and improve muscular strength and mass. However, the intensities necessary for traditional resistance training to increase muscular strength and mass may be contraindicated for some at risk populations, such as diseased populations and the elderly. Therefore, an alternative exercise modality is required. Recently, blood flow restriction (BFR) with low intensity resistance exercise (LIRE) has been used for such special populations to improve their function and exercise capacity. Although BFR+LIRE has been intensively studied for a decade, a comprehensive review detailing the effects of BFR+LIRE on both skeletal muscle and vascular function is not available. Therefore, the purpose of this review is to discuss previous studies documenting the effects of BFR+LIRE on hormonal and transcriptional factors in muscle hypertrophy and vascular function, including changes in hemodynamics, and endothelial function.

      • 몇 種 菜蔬類의 Chlorophyll과 Carotenoid 및 Carotene의 含量에 관한 硏究

        식량자원의 하나로서 각광을 받고 있는 식물잎의 성분을 조사하기 위한 한 연구로서 water dropwort, welshonion(thin), welsh onion(big), chinese cabbage, radish leaf, parsley, Chrysanthemum coronanum, gynmight, leavesof perilla, american lettuce, lettuce 및 prussels sprots 등 13종의 채소류를 시료로 하여 chlorophyll, total carotenoid 및 carotene의 함량을 측정하고 성분함량 상호간의 상관성을 검토한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. Total chlorophyll 함량은 0.75~359mg% 범위였으며 leavesof perilla, parsley, celery 및 water dropwort에서 비교적 높았고, chlorophyll a/b는 0.59~0.60 범위였다. 2. Total carotenoid 의 함량(Y)는 12.01~366.58mg% 범위였으며 total chlorophyll 함량(X) 사이에 Y=0.95X+52.27의 관계식이 성립하였으며 1% 수준에서 유의성이 인정되었다. 3. 분리된 carotene은 3~7종이었으며 이들 중 β-carotene 함량이 0.05~10.46mg%로서 타 carotene에 비교하여 함유율이 높았고 total carotenoid 함량(X)과 carotene 함량(Y) 사이에 Y=0.012X-0.77의 관계식이 성립하였으며 10% 수준에서 유의성이 인정되었다.

        경남지역 주민의 김치 섭취 실태조사(2) : 판매용 김치에 대한 선호도 및 의식조사 The study of the notion and preference of kimchi products for sale

        A survey on the preferences and notion about kimchi and kimchi products was conducted from july to october, 1999 to investigate basic information for increasing the consumption of kimchi for sale. 1,241 subjects of women and men aged 10 to 60 in Kyung-nam area participated in this survey. Most of the subjects made kimchi by themselves at home but this rate of making kimchi at home became lower than past, so increment of consumption of kimchi for sale will be expected in the future. When the people buy kimchi, they considered taste first, and then hygiene, nutrition in order. When they purchase kimchi, more men (69.1%) than women(56%) considered taste, but more women(36.1%) than men(20.6%) considered hygiene first. Subjects aged 30 or older groups considered more the hygiene of kimchi than the subjects of 10∼20 age groups did.(p<0.05) And people of household income over 3 million wons considered more hygiene than people of below 1 million wons income group did. People liked manufactured kimchi the packed with whole or partly transparent material in order to observe the contents.(p<0.05) They liked better kimchi packed with bottle(46.1%) and vinyl(39.6%) than plastic(14.3%) and this tendency was more in the subjects of women(49.8%) and over 30 age groups.(p<0.05) They prefered 200∼500g packing unit of kimchi whether the family size were big or small. Among the processed kimchi products, men liked better a rice covered up with kimchi, a pot stew with kimchi or a soup with kimchi, On the other hand, women liked better a dumplings with kimchi, a grilled food with kimchi, a pizza with kimchi.(p<0.05) Subjects aged 10 to 20 years old liked all kinds of kimchi products, but people aged 40 or older disliked them.(p<0.001)

        한우 암소의 인공수정 실패율에 관한 조사연구

        This study was carried out to investigate the influence of artificial insemination (AI) failure in 1,619 Korean native cows at Gangwon East area, Korea. The average AI failure rate was 37.02% in the cows and the highest rate was 40.85% in Yangyang-city. Based on the parity in the cows, the AI failure rate was 49.14% and 29.91% in the first and fifth parity cows, respectively. Whereas cows until fifth parity were decreased in AI failure, cows with sixth or more parity showed an upturning AI failure trends with the increasing of parity number. AI failure rate incidence according to the rump fat thickness measured by ultrasound was 28.9% and 33.4% at 5 mm to 10 mm and over than 15 mm, respectively. There was a positive correlation (0.2186) between AI failure rate of mother and that of their offspring cows. That is, offspring of dams with high AI failure rate showed also higher AI failure than those of dams having lower AI failure rate. In conclusion, these results indicate that the AI failure rate was closely related to the rump fat thickness, parity number, and conception rate of mother cows. In addition, these results might strengthen the basis to improve the reproductive performance in Korean native cows 본 연구는 강원도 영동지방에서 사육중인 1,619두의 암소를 대상으로 암소의 인공수정 실패율에 관한 조사 연구를 실시하였다. 분석에 이용된 1,619두 암소의 평균 인공수정 실패율은 34.36%로 나타났고, 동해시에서 41.46% 로 가장 높은 인공수정 실패율을 보여 각 지역별로 인공수정 실패율에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 산차에 따른 인공수정 실패율에 따르면 1 산차에서 가장 높은 실패율인 49.14%를 나타냈으며, 5 산차에서 가장 낮은 실패비율인 29.91%를 나타내 산차가 증가함에 따라 인공수정실패율이 낮아지는 경향을 나타냈으나, 6 산차 이상의 경우 실패율이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 둔근지방두께(rump fat thickness by ultrasound)에 따른 암소의인공수정 실패율을 비교하였을 때 둔근지방 두께가 15mm 초과인 경우 인공수정 실패비율이 33.4%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 5 mm 초과 10 mm 이하에서 가장 낮은비율(28.9%)을 보여 둔근지방의 두께와 인공수정 실패 사이에는 밀접한 연관이 있는 것으로 사료된다. 인공수정실패율이 높은 어미암소가 생산한 자우암소의 인공수정실패율이 높을 확률은 약 80% 이상으로 나왔으며, 어미암소와 자우암소의 인공수정 실패율은 0.2186의 정의 상관관계를 나타내었다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여 볼 때 암소의 인공수정에 영향을 미치는 요인은 암소의 둔근지방두께, 산차, 어미암소의 수태율 등으로 분류할 수 있었으며, 한우 번식능력을 평가할 수 있는 기초 자료로써 이용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 더 나아가 강원 영동지방이아닌 전국에 더 많은 샘플 수집을 통해 분석해야 할 것이며, 번식형질에 관련된 유전자 탐색 및 단일염기다형성분석 또한 이루어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.

        Zn ion의 영향에 따른 (Y, Zn)₂O₃: Eu³+ 적색 형광체의 발광특성

        To enhance the luminescence properties, the red phosphor composed of (Y, Zn)₂O₃ : Eu³+ as doping concentration of Zn ion is synthesized at 1200℃ for 6 hrs in air atmosphere by conventional solid reaction method. As a result of the red phosphor (Y, Zn)₂O₃ : Eu³+ is measured X-ray diffraction (XRD), The main peak is nearly corresponded to the same as JCPDS card (No. 41-1105). When the doping concentration of Zn ion is more than 5 mol%, However, the ZnO peak is showed by XRD analysis. Therefore, when the doping concentration of Zn ion is less than 5 mol%, the Zn ion is well mixed in Y₂O₃structure without the impurity phases. The photoluminescence (PL) properties is shown as this phosphor is excited in 254 nmregion and the highest emission spectra of (Y, Zn)₂O₃ : Eu³+ has shown in 612 nm region because of a typical energy transition (5D0→7F2) of Eu³+ ion. As the doping concentration of Zn ion is more than 10 mol%, the emission peak is suddenly decreased. when the highest emission peak as doping concentration of Zn ion is shown, the composition of this phosphor is (Y0.95, Zn0.05)₂O₃ : Eu³+ 0.075 and the particle size analyzed by FE-SEM is confirmed from 0.4 to 3 μm.

        급속 microwave 열처리 방법으로 합성한 YVO₄: Eu³+, Bi³+ 적색 형광체의 발광 특성

        Eu³+and Bi³+ co-doped YVO₄phosphors were produced by a microwave heating process. When the microwave heating method was synthesized, the particle size was very small and the particles tended to agglomerate. However, as the heating time increased, the particle size increased and the agglomeration decreased. The emission spectrum exhibited a weak band for 5D0→7F1 at 594.91 and 602.3 nm and strong sharp peaks at 616.7 and 620.0 nm due to the 5D0→7F2 transition of Eu³+. Microwave heating synthesis can provide a product without long time heating as well as good homogeneous distribution of activators.

        In this paper, we studied the absorption abilities of sheet-type EM wave absorber with Carbon and MnZn-ferrite for DSRC at 5.8 ㎓. we predicted optimum ratio of Carbon, MnZn-ferrite and CPE for developing EM wave absorber. we designed and fabricated EM wave absorber. An EM wave absorber with composition of Carbon: MnZn-ferrite : CPE = 15 : 40 : 45 wt.% has the thickness of 3.38 ㎜ and absorption ability higher than 20 ㏈ at 5.8 ㎓.

        UHF대역 RFID 리더 간섭방지용 전파흡수체 개발

        In this paper, the EM wave absorber was designed and fabricated for preventing Reader Interference of RFID communication system in UHF band. We fabricated several samples in different composition ratios of Amorphous and CPE(Chlorinated Polyethylene). Absorption abilities were simulated in accordance with different thicknesses of the prepared absorbers and changed complex relative permittivity and permeability due to composition ratio. The mixing ratio of Amorphous and CPE was searched as 80 : 20 wt.% by experiments and simulation. Then the EM wave absorber was fabricated and tested using the simulated data. As a result, the developed EM wave absorber has a thickness of 4 mm and absorption ability was over 20 dB in frequency range of 860 MHz~960 MHz. Therefore, it was confirmed that the developed absorber can be used for suppressing RFID reader interference in UHF band. 본 논문에서는 UHF대역 RFID 통신 시스템 간에 발생하는 리더 간섭을 방지하기 위한 전파흡수체를 설계 및 제작하였다. 먼저 자 성손실 재료인 Amorphous와 지지재인 CPE(Chlorinated Polyethylene)를 이용하여 조성비별 전파흡수체 샘플을 제작하였고, 이 전파흡수체 샘 플로부터 구한 재료정수를 이용하여 시뮬레이션을 한 결과, 최적의 조성비가 Amorphous : CPE = 80 : 20 wt.% 임을 확인하였다. 그리고 시뮬 레이션 결과를 토대로 전파흡수체를 실제작하여 전파흡수능을 비교․분석하였다. 그 결과 Amorphous : CPE = 80 : 20 wt.%의 조성비 일 때, 두께 4 mm의 전파흡수체가 860 MHz~960 MHz의 주파수 범위에서 전파흡수능 20 dB 이상의 특성을 얻음으로써 UHF대역의 RFID 리더 간 섭을 억제할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

        Induction of antibody and interferon-γ production in mice immunized with virus-like particles of swine hepatitis E virus

        Virus-like particles (VLPs) composed of the truncatedcapsid protein of swine hepatitis E virus (HEV) weredeveloped and immune responses of mice immunized withthe VLPs were evaluated. IgG titers specific for the capsidprotein of swine HEV were significantly higher for allgroups of mice immunized with the VLPs than those of thenegative control mice. Splenocytes from mice immunizedwith the VLPs also produced significantly greater quantitiesof interferon (IFN)-γ than interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-10. These newly developed swine HEV VLPs have the capacity to induce antigen-specific antibody and IFN-γ production in immunized mice.
