유아 리더십 유형화에 관한 연구 = (A) study on the classification of young children's leadership

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유아 리더십을 유형화하고 관련 변인(유아의 기질과 어머니 양육행동)을 통해 각 유형의 특징을 살펴봄으로써 유아 리더십이라는 광범위한 개념을 구체화하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적에 따라 선정된 연구문제는 다음과 같다.
연구문제 1. 유아 리더십의 유형은 어떠한가?
연구문제 2. 유아 리더십 유형의 특성은 어떠한가?
2-1 유아 리더십 유형에 따라 유아 기질 및 어머니 양육행동은 어떠한 차이를 보이는가?
2-2 유아 리더십 유형에 따라 유아 기질 및 어머니 양육행동의 특성은 어떠한가?
연구의 대상은 경기도에 소재한 유치원, 어린이집에 재원중인 만 5세 유아 629명과 그들의 어머니 629명, 담임교사 45명이었다. 유아의 리더십을 측정하기 위하여 정희욱, 박병기, 최성욱과 강일국(2003)이 개발한 ‘지도력 진단도구’를 황성원, 사영숙, 이성희와 조성신(2008)이 유아의 발달적 측면과 행동 특성을 고려하여 수정하고 재구성한 도구를 사용하였다. 유아의 기질은 정인희(2008)의 ‘부모용 유아 기질 평정척도’를 사용하였으며, 어머니의 양육행동은 Schaefer의 어머니 양육행동 모형을 토대로 박영애(1995)가 개발한 ‘양육행동 척도’를 어주경(1998)이 재구성한 도구를 사용하였다.
본 연구에서는 유아 리더십의 유형화를 위하여 SPSS 15.0 프로그램을 이용하여 계층적 군집분석과 K-평균 군집분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과, 유아 리더십 유형은 관계적인 리더십, 조화로운 리더십, 잠재적인 리더십, 창의적인 리더십의 4가지 유형으로 구분되었다. 이러한 유아 리더십 각 유형의 특징을 관련변인(유아의 기질, 어머니 양육행동)과의 관계를 중심으로 살펴보면 다음과 같다.
첫째, ‘관계적인 리더십’ 유형은 자신의 감정을 잘 조절하고 다른 사람의 말과 생각을 존중하여 또래 뿐 아니라 성인과의 관계도 원만한 유형이다. 유아 기질의 하위요인 중 적응성, 활동성, 전환성이 다른 유형에 속하는 유아들보다 낮은 수준을 보이고, 어머니는 온정․수용적 양육행동을 보인다.
둘째, ‘조화로운 리더십’ 유형은 다양한 상황에서 자신과 친구들의 생각을 적절히 조절하여 목표에 도달할 수 있도록 창의적이고 독창적인 방법으로 활동을 이끌어간다. 유아 기질의 하위요인 중 적응성, 활동성, 지속성이 높은 수준을 보이고 있으며, 지속성은 다른 유형에 속하는 유아들에 비하여 두드러지게 높은 수준을 보이고 있으나 전환성은 낮은 수준을 보인다. 어머니는 온정․수용적 양육행동을 취하고 있다.
셋째, ‘잠재적인 리더십’은 리더십 능력이 잠재되어 있어 아직 외부로 잘 표현되지 않는 유형이다. 유아 기질의 하위요인 중 적응성과 지속성이 낮은 수준을 보이고 있으며, 어머니는 높은 수준의 허용․방임적 양육행동을 취하고 있다.
넷째, ‘창의적인 리더십’은 새로운 환경에 잘 적응하며 유아가 주도적으로 창의적인 새로운 활동을 계획하고 완성한다. 유아 기질의 하위요인 중 적응성과 활동성, 전환성이 높은 수준을 보이고, 어머니는 높은 수준의 온정․수용적 양육행동을 취하고 있다.
이러한 결과는 유아 리더십과 유아의 기질, 어머니 양육행동이 관계가 있음을 보여주며, 유아 리더십이 주변 환경과 다양한 경험을 통하여 발달되는 유아의 발달적 특성 중 하나라 할 수 있다. 그러므로 본 연구에서 제시하고 있는 구체적인 유아의 리더십 유형을 토대로 유아가 발휘하는 리더십을 파악하고 이를 유아 리더십 프로그램 구성 시 활용한다면 미래사회의 유아교육이 나아가야 할 방향인 긍정적인 리더십을 가진 유아로 교육하기 위한 실제적인 리더십 교육프로그램을 개발하는데 도움이 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to classify young children's leadership into four types and to define their characteristics in relation to young children's temperament and their mothers' child rearing behavior.
The research questions of this study were as follows:
1. How is young children's leadership classified?
2. How are the characteristics of 4 types of leadership?
The subjects were 629 preschool children and their mothers, and their 45 classroom teachers in the kindergartens and child care centers located in the Gyeonggido.
The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 15.0 program. The statistical methods such as hierarchical clustering, K-means clustering, one-way ANOVA and Tukey test were used.
The results of this study showed that the leadership is classified into four groups; relational, coordinated, potential, and creative leadership. The characteristics of each type are as follows:
First, the ‘relational leadership’ is characterized by proper regulation of emotion, respecting others' saying and thinking, as well as the acquisition of good relationship with adults. It has lower correlations with adaptability, activation, and conversion of young children's temperament compared to other leadership types. Their mothers show the warm-hearted and acceptable child .rearing behaviors.
Second, the ‘coordinated leadership’ is characterized by creative and unique leading activity to achieve goals through regulating his/her and peers' thoughts properly in various situations. It has higher correlations with adaptability, activation, and durability of young children's temperament. Especially the durability is significantly higher and has lower correlations with conversion compared to peers of other leadership types. Their mothers show warm-hearted and acceptable child rearing behaviors.
Third, the ‘potential leadership’ is a latent one so is unlikely to be exposed outside. It has lower correlations with adaptability and durability of young children's temperament compared to peers of other leadership types. Their mothers show permissive and liberal rearing behaviors.
Fourth, the ‘creative leadership’ is characterized by planning and achieving creative and new activities through active participation and excellent adaptability to new environment. It has higher correlations with adaptability and durability of young children's temperament. Their mothers show warm-hearted and acceptable child rearing behaviors.
Those results suggested that the preschooler' leadership is one of the social and emotional aspects which is developed by various interrelations with surrounding environments, and latent within all preschoolers.
It is concluded that the understanding of young children's leadership based on its types will be helpful in developing an practical educational leadership programme so that preschoolers are fostered to have positive leadership which is ultimate goals of early childhood education in future.
