        Survival of Cancer Patients in Northeast China: Analysis of Sampled Cancers from Population-Based Cancer Registries

        Purpose The cancer survival was characterized by following up sampled subgroups of cancer cases from three population-based cancer registries in Northeast China. Materials and Methods Survival analysis was used to analyze 6,871 patients, who had one of the 21 most common cancers based on sampling from the population-based cancer registries of three cities in Liaoning Province. All patients were diagnosed between 2000 and 2002 and were followed up to the end of 2007 by active and passive methods. The 5-year age standardized relative survival rates (ASRS) were estimated for all cancers combined and each of the 21 individual cancers. Results The survival status was traced for 80.8% of 8,506 sampled cancer cases. The 5-year ASRS for all 21 cancers combined was 41.5% (95% confidence interval, 40.3 to 42.7), the highest ASRS was observed for thyroid cancer (85.2%), breast cancer (78.9%), uterine corpus cancer (75.9%), and urinary bladder cancer (70.2%); the lowest 5-year ASRS was noted in pancreatic cancer (8.8%), liver cancer (11.0%), esophageal cancer (18.8), and lung cancer (19.6%). The cancer survival rates in Liaoning cities were similar to those of urban areas in mainland China, but significantly lower than those in Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan. Conclusion The strikingly poor cancer survival rates in three cities of Liaoning Province and in other places in China highlight the need for urgent investment in cancer prevention, early detection, and standardized and centralized treatment.

        Bending Performance of a Jute Fiber and Epoxy Resin Composite Sandwich Structure with a Bi-directional Corrugated Truss Core

        In this study, a bi-directional corrugated lattice sandwich structure was fabricated from jute fibers and epoxy resin. Die casting was used to prepare the core struts and face sheets and two fiber composites were designed to produce structuralstruts. The configuration and the relative density of the core layer were altered. In addition, the three-point bending propertiesof each configuration were investigated to explore the various modes of failure, destruction processes, and mechanicalproperties. Results of the experiments show that failure mainly occurs via three modes: face sheet crushing, face sheetwrinkling, and core member crushing. Moreover, the failure mode is related to the strength of the core struts. Theoreticalcalculations and finite element analysis were carried out, and the simulation results were in good agreement withexperimental results, the relative errors of displacement and load are all within 20 %. In conclusion, the proposed sandwichbeam configuration composed of jute fibers could be highly useful for enhancing engineering structurer owing to the simplefabrication process, moreover, the materials are environmentally friendly and inexpensive.

They embody the ethical thoughts of blood, respectability, nature worship, ancestor worship, totem worship and other beliefs and customs, the spiritual and cultural content it contains is an important component of the traditional spiritual home of the Yi ethnic group. 彝族是我国西南地区人口最多、分布最广的少数民族,在漫长的历史发展过程中发明创造了特色鲜明的各式民居。彝族民居是彝族文化中重要的物质文化符号,沉淀着彝族的血缘、尊卑等伦理思想以及自然崇拜、祖先崇拜、图腾崇拜等信仰习俗,其蕴含的精神文化内容是彝族传统精神家园的重要组成部分。

        Ginsenoside Rb1 attenuates methamphetamine (METH)-induced neurotoxicity through the NR2B/ERK/CREB/BDNF signalings in vitro and in vivo models

        This study investigates the effects of ginsenoside Rb1 (GsRb1) on methamphetamine (METH)-induced toxicity in SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells and METH-induced conditioned place preference (CPP)in adult Sprague-Dawley rats. It also examines whether GsRb1 can regulate these effects through theNR2B/ERK/CREB/BDNF signaling pathways. Methods: SH-SY5Y cells were pretreated with GsRb1 (20 mM and 40 mM) for 1 h, followed by METHtreatment (2 mM) for 24 h. Rats were treated with METH (2 mg/kg) or saline on alternating days for 10days to allow CPP to be examined. GsRb1 (5, 10, and 20 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally 1 h beforeMETH or saline. Western blot was used to examine the protein expression of NR2B, ERK, P-ERK, CREB, PCREB, and BDNF in the SH-SY5Y cells and the rats' hippocampus, nucleus accumbens (NAc), and prefrontal cortex (PFC). Results: METH dose-dependently reduced the viability of SH-SY5Y cells. Pretreatment of cells with 40mM of GsRb1 increased cell viability and reduced the expression of METH-induced NR2B, p-ERK, p-CREBand BDNF. GsRb1 also attenuated the expression of METH CPP in a dose-dependent manner in rats. Further, GsRb1 dose-dependently reduced the expression of METH-induced NR2B, p-ERK, p-CREB, andBDNF in the PFC, hippocampus, and NAc of rats. Conclusion: GsRb1 regulated METH-induced neurotoxicity in vitro and METH-induced CPP through theNR2B/ERK/CREB/BDNF regulatory pathway. GsRb1 could be a therapeutic target for treating METHinduced neurotoxicity or METH addiction.

        Proposal for a Wavelength-Independent Optical Sensor Based on an Asymmetric Mach-Zehnder Interferometer

        A wavelength-independent optical sensor based on an asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer (AMZI) is proposed. The optical sensor based on an AMZI is very sensitive to wavelength, and wavelength drift will lead to measurement error. The optical sensor is compensated to reduce its dependence on wavelength. The insensitivity of the optical sensor to wavelength mainly depends on the compensation structure, which is composed of an AMZI cascaded with another AMZI and can compensate the wavelength drift. The influence of wavelength drift on the optical sensor can be counteracted by carefully designing the size parameters of the compensation structure. When the wavelength changes from 1549.9 nm to 1550.1 nm, the error after compensation can be lower than 0.066%. Furthermore, the effect of fabrication tolerance on compensation results is analyzed. The proposed compensation method can also be used to compensate the drift of other parameters such as temperature, and can be applied to the compensation of other interference-based optical devices.

        Assessment of supervision monitoring for radiation environment around the typical research reactors in China

        The supervision mode, monitoring basis and monitoring scheme of radiation environment monitoringconcerning typical research reactors in China were investigated in this study. Summary and analysis wereconcluded of the present situation of supervised monitoring of radiation environment, such as monitoring objects, points, frequency and so on, based on the relevant data of monitoring points of fourtypical research reactors in China. Some experiences and existing problems were analyzed concerningthe supervised monitoring of China's research reactors. Tips on topics related to strengthen the monitoring of radiation environment around the research reactors has noted.

      • Ionic liquid coated magnetic core/shell CoFe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub>@SiO<sub>2</sub> nanoparticles for the separation/analysis of trace gold in water sample

        A new ionic liquid functionalized magnetic silica nanoparticle was synthesized and characterized and tested as an adsorbent. The adsorbent was used for magnetic solid phase extraction on ICP-MS method. Simultaneous determination of precious metal Au has been addressed. The method is simple and fast and has been applied to standard water and surface water analysis. A new method for separation/analysis of trace precious metal Au by Magnetron Solid Phase Extraction (MSPE) combined with ICP-MS. The element to be tested is rapidly adsorbed on CoFe2O4@SiO2@[BMIM]PF6 composite nano-adsorbent and eluted with thiourea. The method has a preconcentration factor of 9.5-fold. This method has been successfully applied to the determination of gold in actual water samples. Hydrophobic Ionic Liquids (ILs) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole hexafluorophosphate ([BMIM]PF6) coated CoFe2O4@SiO2 nanoparticles with core-shell structure to prepare magnetic solid phase extraction agent (CoFe2O4@SiO2@ILs) and establish a new method of MSPE coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for separation/analysis of trace gold. The results showed that trace gold was adsorbed rapidly by CoFe2O4@SiO2@[BMIM]PF6 and eluanted by thiourea. Under the optimal conditions, preconcentration factor of the proposed method was 9.5-fold. The linear range, detection limit, correlation coefficient (R) and relative standard deviation (RSD) were found to be 0.01~1000.00 ng·mL-1, 0.001 ng·mL-1, 0.9990 and 3.4% (n = 11, c = 4.5 ng·mL-1). The CoFe2O4@SiO2 nanoparticles could be used repeatedly for 8 times. This proposed method has been successfully applied to the determination of trace gold in water samples.

        随着新型城镇化的不断推进,新市民群体的多维贫困问题愈发凸显。由于新市民群体与老市民群体、农民群体、农民工群体均存在重大区别,导致传统的适用于老市民、农民群体和农民工群体的扶贫举措在应用于新市民群体时出现低效度问题。因此,有必要探索新的适合新市民群体实际的扶贫举措。该举措强调通过弹性城市化模式,整合多种资源,充分发挥城市、乡村、政府、社区和用工单位等多元主体的作用,从能力体系建设、权益保障机制建设、公共服务体系建设、成本分担机制建设去构建阻断新市民群体贫困的扶贫体系。 With the continuous promotion of new urbanization, the multidimensional poverty problem of new urban residents is becoming increasingly prominent. Due to significant differences between the new citizen group and the old citizen group, farmer group, and migrant worker group, traditional poverty alleviation measures applicable to the old citizen, farmer group, and migrant worker group are inefficient when applied to the new citizen group. Therefore, it is necessary to explore new poverty alleviation measures that are suitable for the actual needs of new citizen groups. This measure emphasizes the integration of multiple resources through a flexible urbanization model, fully leveraging the roles of diverse entities such as cities, rural areas, governments, communities, and employers. It aims to build a poverty alleviation system that blocks the poverty of new urban groups through the construction of capacity systems, rights protection mechanisms, public service systems, and cost sharing mechanisms.
